Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

When I had conjunctivitis ABs cleared it up within a day. Nothing else worked.

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 10:01

I am selling the toddler bedroom furniture on the local FB page. A lady replied, asking if I could deliver. I said yes. She said she does not get paid for 3 weeks. I said I need it gone sooner. She asks if I can deliver now, and she will pay me in three weeks. Yeah, I really am that stupid.

I am developing a bit of a playmobil addiction. Has anyone else discovered the joy that is playmobil? Our LOs are pretty much big enough for the 123 range. I think I might be getting J some for his half birthday.

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 10:03

I love Dexter, but a part of me wishes it had ended at the scene Lily mentioned. I think I might start watching it again from the beginning.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2014 10:21

I am sure my two would love playpobil but I am a bit Shock at the price and it's the kind of thing my dog would destroy given an opportunity. He love popping plastic in his mouth and I don't notice until he has taken it into the garden and destroyed it.

DD1 will be 3 in a few weeks - I am getting her a blackboard and chalk on behalf of my mum and a toy kitchen. My criteria for that is that is must not be pink and must be of an OK quality that LO will be able to enjoy as well. What's the ikea one like? Anyone know anything about toy kitchens?

Lily311 · 27/02/2014 10:50

thechick camberwell, se5. I think you were quite close by, east dulwich? I lived in stockwell for 3 years than 7 in camberwell.

Onto series 7 today. I'm shit scared watching dexter. Probably that's why I like it.

Lily311 · 27/02/2014 10:56

The ikea one is great. I would not get chalks, too much mess, dust everywhere, eeeek. You can get In ikea white board, use that with dd1.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2014 11:03

I'd be worried about pen marks everywhere with a white board...

StuntNun · 27/02/2014 11:11

You'll be in for a shock VQ the pilot episode is really different from the later episodes. Ahhh remember the Ice Truck Killer? Has anyone read the books?

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2014 11:32

Not read the books. Would like to. Any good?

PurplePidjin · 27/02/2014 11:53

I'm on the look out for a wooden tv unit to paint up as a kitchen, will try and have it done in time for his birthday then ask for play food and utensils as presents. He loves his wooden spoon and whisk that I put in his treasure basket, and makes straight for his cousins' little kitchen when we're there :o

Sophiathesnowfairy · 27/02/2014 12:04

I saw that on a fb thing, I think it was, it looked brilliant. We have an old wooden crate with castors on and painted green with "tidy up time ds1 and ds2" on it, so simple to do and looks great but often confiscated for wheeling too fast and dangerously around the kitchen with sibling sitting nonchalantly in

Lily311 · 27/02/2014 12:07

pidj that's what I'm planning to do. I'm already saving little food pots, raisin boxes, etc for playing shopping later.

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 12:16

The Ikea kitchen is great, and you can just get the base bit. Both girls will love it. The doors are very hard to open though, and all three have had a smack in the chops from it. Pinterest is great for upcycling units into kitchens.

J had lunch, and vomited everywhere. I am guessing this is reflux now as he has been poorly since Sunday. He is fine in himself, just grumpy at times. DH is home at 2. I will have all three again on my own tomorrow. I am not happy. I should be in bed Sad

applepieinthesky · 27/02/2014 12:40

Hey quiche. How is everyone today?

I'm feeling much better. We have sent the money (the full amount) and they will receive it tomorrow. Can't afford to wait around for BIL's answer when it's to the detriment of FIL's health. He needs the op asap so hopefully it will happen within the next few days. FIL spoke to C on skype yesterday from his hospital bed and C had him laughing and smiling.

I'm hoping he's still well enough to come to Turkey in May, will be gutted if he can't. I suspect it might be one of the last times we see him as his health has gone downhill pretty rapidly in the last couple of years. I'm going to buy a new camera and take lots of pics of them all with C to put on his bedroom wall. I've already got a lovely frame to put them in.

VQ Hope you are all better soon.

Playmobil - C would like it but I think it's quite expensive for what it is and he already has too many toys.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2014 12:42

I'll have to send DH at the weekend. I also would like another 4x4 expedit set of shelves before they run out. Am embarking this week on a massive clearout and reorganisation of my house. Looks like we won't be moving til next year now DH is changing job, so have to make the most of it.

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 12:48

You can never have too many expedits.

Apple I really admire your attitude to this, and how you are handling it. I do hope the op is soon, and successful. Are weddings expensive in Turkey?

StormyIsles · 27/02/2014 12:49

Apple you are amazing x

M has an ikea kitchen that will probably be going in my new kitchen. She loves it.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2014 12:52

Yeah I would buy more but no space for them. Though maybe if my clearout of the garage is successful I could stack them still in flatpacks for the future...

apple that sounds like a plan - hope BIL pays you back eventually. I think your ILs think you are already married iirc?

StormyIsles · 27/02/2014 12:54

I have bought a beech expedit for my new lounge (to match a beech side table I have). But all the other woodwork is white and I have dark wood floors. Should I buy a white one?

FatimaLovesBread · 27/02/2014 13:00

Thank you everyone for your hen do opinions. I started to write a reply last night but fell asleep.

I agree with most of what everyone is saying. Don't know whether to say too much on here as don't know if one is a MNetter.
It's two nights away, closer for me to get to then they others as I live a way away from the others. So that's a bonus.
I don't begrudge too much paying for the hen do if the costs are reasonable as I'm bridesmaid.

We've all been researching accommodation and activities. I've been trying to find accommodation that's cheap without being horrible, in my mind I had a £60-80 per person budget, I even ruled a couple of places out as they would be more than £100pp. One bridesmaid has emailed a few places she's found, all above £100pp, one at £120pp. I'm happy to pay it if everyone else is happy, I just think it's a lot when there'll be travel, activities, food and booze for two days n top of that.
I'd rather pay more to stay all in a big house than sharing a hotel room with one person I don't know.

But I don't know if I'm being stingy, I just don't want other people seeing the suggested price and not wanting to come.

I don't know. I've sent an email with places I've found so will see what any replies are.

Another stickler is that they seem to be pushing for a particular month where DH and I are already going away two weekends of that month. W rarely go away and these weekends along with the wedding will be our "holiday" this year. If they decided to go for that month I'm going to be skinted.

Sorry for the rant. off to read the rest of the thread

applepieinthesky · 27/02/2014 13:15

I doubt we will ever see a penny from BIL but at least I know we have done the right thing. Thank fuck we had the money sitting there to be able to pay it.

Yes the ILs think we are already married so we can't have a wedding in Turkey. It's unheard of to live with someone you aren't married to in Iran so as soon as we moved in together DP told them we had got married. So I've been married about 9/10 years Grin

fatima I would email the people invited and say who would be interested if it cost x amount, how about y amount and try to get some feedback before making any definite plans.

StuntNun · 27/02/2014 13:33

Reading about the toy kitchens reminded me that I got a toy shopping trolley for J for his birthday. I need to take all three boys to the supermarket after school, should I bring J's little trolley for him to push round?

OP posts:
ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 13:46

Stunt if you do that, then you are a braver woman than me. I would pick a quieter time of day personally. Although your boys are bigger so may well be able to supervise.

Apple if you had a 'big' wedding, is there a risk they may find out? How about Gretnor?

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2014 13:50

Fatima if you are organising it, make sure you get full amounts off folk before booking. My SIL organised a Hen Do a while back, and was left with a hefty bill as people pulled out at the last minute. I hate Hen Do's with a passion. I was ill for mine, thank God. They all had a great time though Grin I think it all goes back to the first one I went to, when the stripper stuck his erect penis in my hair. It was horrid horrid horrid Angry
