apple sounds like a nightmare. vq is right though it's very easy to have a nice small wedding - our's was tiny - just ten of us - and very cheap but with excellent food and wine (caterers delivered to our home) - it was perfect for us.

VQ that sounds painful

Chasing very well done :)

Just had a nice lunch out with one of DH's colleagues - hadn't ever met her she was soooo interesting, really nice too.

YellowWellies · 26/02/2014 14:41

Apple given your BIL has done FA for his family you are not a bad person for feeling resentful at seeing your savings being earmarked for something else outside of your control. It's not fair that he doesn't look after his parents too.

Whilst a small wedding is a great suggestion I can see why you might not want this if it's not actually the type of wedding you want. I would feel very put out if it were events and problems outside of my control that were taking away the chance to have the type of wedding I'd been saving for. If you have a traditional family you are close to then the 'handful of friends in a register office and then all pile into the pub after' type wedding - could hurt people's feelings. I know it shouldn't but that's the joy of family politics. I guess it's a question of whether you'd rather just get married now or wait for the type of wedding you'd really want? Whatever you do - book a photographer. I wish we had. We've got lots of lovely FB snaps but not any really proper pics of a high enough quality to frame.

applepieinthesky · 26/02/2014 15:01

It's so frustrating especially when BIL does fuck all for them, like you say. He can afford to buy a house, for his wife to be a SAHM, all things we can only dream of. Yet I'm working my arse off and going without things I would like to help support his parents while he claims poverty. What bullshit.

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:02

I just got a lovely text message from my boss. Shock

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:04

Eagerly awaits news of Pikz BrewThanks

And of course, Well Done Chasing Wine

ditsygal · 26/02/2014 16:07

Well done Chasing!

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:08

I have tried to catch up, but it is not going in.

Flouncy you are a very beautiful lady (I gather there is a bit of self doubt) if you don't believe me, remember the bloke in B&Q was it? DD1 keeps talking about your J. He laughed at her antics, and will love him for ever Smile

Oh, and Stormy, she also thinks M will marry Flouncys J. She sensed a chemistry (daft child Grin)

Lily311 · 26/02/2014 16:19

My O will get married to chasing's O and they will live somewhere sunny Maldives to be exact. Sorry pr, your LO will need to find someone else.

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:32

Lily, that is a match made in heaven :-) J will marry Pass's wee P. Pass would be an awesome MIL Wink

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:34

One of PRs girls will marry Prince George.

Pikz · 26/02/2014 16:44

His lungs are clear. I cried.

Very bad cold, viral rash and teething. I've never been so happy to know he's just normal ill :)

How you feeling VQ?

Can L have an older woman in one of Sophia's daughters... I want her as a inlaw!!

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:52

Pikz L would do well Grin I am so glad he is just bog standard ill Smile

I feel like shit. Have not felt this rough since I gave birth to DD1. I have not been able to get up except to the loo. DH has struggled and DM is here while he gets the girls. I had J briefly when he dropped them off this morning and I couldn't cope Hmm I would happily never eat again.

YellowWellies · 26/02/2014 16:53

I'd be surprised if any bugger wants to marry my wee Captain Tantrum / Farty McSuicidaltendencies / Stunt climber Grin it's their loss I tells thee!

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:55

And DD2 has it now Hmm

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 16:56

YW your J will have women falling over themselves Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/02/2014 17:05

Great news pikz, off course, once they get into their 20’s an age gap won't be noticeable!

O is on the market if anyone wants him. He steals digestive biscuits, wipes his snot all over your outfit and takes off people's socks but he is basically kind at heart Wink buy as seen! no returns for whinging.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/02/2014 17:06

The sock steal could prove to be an embarrassing habit.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/02/2014 17:22

As lucky asPrince George would be to have me as a MIL the thought of one of my girls marrying into that family sends me cold.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/02/2014 17:24

Let alone the headlines once they raked over my murky past and family history

Lily311 · 26/02/2014 17:28

Sophia, your O is on my O's waiting list. In case chasing's O loses his mind and refuses my girlWink

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2014 17:30

I knew you would like that idea PR Wink

PetiteRaleuse · 26/02/2014 17:51

Stuff of nightmares ...

PurplePidjin · 26/02/2014 18:07
