((VQ))

Good job it's sweary Wednesday tomorrow eh!

TheDetective · 25/02/2014 20:51

We do council run swim sessions, which are just lots of playing and songs in the water. It's cheap. £4.60 for an hour. We also do one group. But both of those aren't every week, as I fit going to them in with my shifts.

O could do both every week, but DP doesn't go unless I really nag him Hmm.

DP just sits in the house with O. Unless I make suggestions nag.

There are some benefits to working shifts I guess! I do still get to take O to groups. We both enjoy them. He doesn't go to nursery/childminder, so the social interaction is good for him.

I'd be suggesting DP took him to more, but the vast majority of toddler groups are in the afternoon. What's the point in that? Most 1-2 year olds nap after lunch FFS! Seems silly to me. Unless they don't want that age group. But then there isn't much for 1-2 year olds in the mornings. So, I dunno. .

Can't go to his group tomorrow. He's still very spotty scarred. He's not contagious. But I CBA with the looks/judging. I'm very :( as I think he is going to have some scars from the HF&M. They are not healing well at all.

Re: potty training. DS1 just went for a wee stood up at the loo. He was 2 and 5 months. He just walked up to the toilet one day and did a wee. Dry day and night from then on. We did have some trouble with poo occasionally. But not regularly.

I plan to do similar. Ie. The Lazy Mum's Method of Potty Training. Grin

GTbaby · 25/02/2014 20:53

Evil aka super mum! Wow. I hardly make it out of the house.
Ok feeling bad now.

2more weeks and ill be free of my shackles. Then I'm going to be fun time mum!

TheDetective · 25/02/2014 20:59

Fuck off GT you've got 2 babies! Who the fuck makes it out the house with 2 babies?!

Grin
GTbaby · 25/02/2014 21:03

Think I may look into cheap swimming sessions. There is a baby specialist pool near by. But expensive. Although, if I can't find anything at all I may just fork out as I feel crap as I've done nothing with H.
Also there is an out door play group in a park, about 20min drive away but I like the idea of story around a camp fire.

I took H to a play group last week. Literally a hall with a bunch of toys. Only last 15min was story time and songs. It was meant to be dance and move group.

Kyz · 25/02/2014 21:04

Wow I've got alot of catching up to do, AGAIN! I really am rubbish atm! Will see what I manage :)

I have the new OBEM recorded but haven't watched it yet

Sounds like lots of the babies are doing some really sweet things now, bless them! I'm enjoying reading everything they're all up to

lily o's speech sounds brilliant!

chasing I agree, you have come a long way with XP, and you are indeed bloody awesome

well done re: spoon feeding vq that's brill, E is pretty pants and I usually just get a spoon lobbed my way. I'm not great with mess and I think I need to let go a little bit. I just have the 'but he'll starve/wear it all/throw it' etc etc. Usually he does some spoons but gets bored and yes, throws the spoon at me.

Glad to hear o's understanding seems to be improving Det even if just for the reason that it must be making you worry less :)

pass I also have a tantrumming toddler, E can throw some pretty spectacular ones. In Clark's yesterday he was asked to walk in his new shoes (he's now a 6.5F) and he walked away but wouldn't come back, just stood there. 3 pairs of shoes he had to try on and three times he turned into a screeching bar of soap each time I tried to bring him back. Goshes. I probably should've felt embarrassed but I actually didn't. I tried to keep my cool and I think it might've worked for once!

Glad pussypig is ok bplp

gosh gt, sorry to read your mil is being a pita again, how long is it now?

flouncy I am loving reading how well things are going with J and sleep :D Brilliant :D

argh eliza that's awful! Arseheads. If possible, use strong stuff from the vets and you can stick a saucer of water out under a lamp too, they are attracted to the light and then drown. Treat any pets you have and hoover lots, and re-treat the area after a few weeks/whatever the treatment suggests. Wash bedding/curtains/cushions. Sorry if this has all been said (I am sure it has!)

bless her lily hope she's better soon, poor love

eek fatima sorry you're poorly again, hope you get better soon!

I couldn't manage without my tumble dryer, not with the animals and e, anyway. I don't use it when I can get away with it, but probably should try a bit harder not to use it so much

sorry you can't take A dog isles that's such a shame :(

donna go back if you feel it's not doing anything, hope it clears up soon!

Not dropped the night time bottle here pass he drains it so I've kept it for now. Milk is in a beaker though in the morning just after breakfast and he only has an oz or two. Does she like cows milk or is she unsure still? Maybe you need to do cows milk in a bottle for a bit for her to get used to the taste? Might it need mixing with her formula for a bit? Sorry if these are daft suggestions

Interesting re:girl/boy pregnancies yw my mum has only had one boy and I remember her laid up on the sofa suffering from something or other that caused terrible swollen ankles and serious tiredness ishoos. She was just exhausted the whole time. Yet I distinctly remember us moving house when she was pregnant with the next, a girl, and we moved in about 3 days before her waters broke. She was active and 'normal' from what I remember, and just got on with it. So her boy pregnancy took alot out of her, at least!

Very sad re: obsession with appearance bplp :( They seem to get younger :( Luckily my sis isn't so bothered but she's starting to be now at 12. I wish kids could just be kids :(

sorry J isn't well again vq poor boy :(

gosh, lots of illness/stress/teething/Sad things quichewide atm. Lots of love and hugs to all

glad the phonecall to the bosslady went well vq very surprising indeed!

so glad to still be reading J's doing well with sleeping and you're doing fab sticking to everything, well done flouncy!!!

pp how you coped with all of that i'll never know. You did amazingly!

hiiiii zamboni!!!! and hi bry, saw you sneak a post in earlier :)

sophia must be really hard not having the car, bollockarse. Glad it's sorted now though :)

wooohoo for edd yw how exciting!!

eliza I had dp and my mum, I needed my mum with me, as awful as that probably sounds, she's a pretty good rock, you see. I don't think I cried. I moaned screamed like a banshee though!

aww evil i loved reading yours and Ns homework :) lovely, he's a very lucky little boy to have such a lovely mummy

E doesn't have a potty, but he has been going one the toilet on one of those seat things. I know it sounds silly but mum got one months ago in the sale thinking of us using it eventually in ages time. Anyway, he hadn't been for a few days and started straining and screeching and I wasn't sure what to do so I whipped his nappy off and sat him on the toilet and he did the biggest poo! I sit him on there now if he seems to be straining, and sometimes over the past few days he has been looking like he does when he needs to go and if I say do you need to use the toilet he goes to the bathroom. I've no idea if this is a 'bad' way of doing it but I certainly don't expect him to go on the toilet, today for example he went quite easily in his nappy. Actually he has the runs. But I expect this is teething. Anyway, I digress!

Also didn't know brufen could be so dangerous! Eek. I prefer it for teething/high temp but do try to not use it unless I need to for E.

pr mum has also told me boys are later than girls with potty training from all the boys/girls she knows of

I've never thought to leave e's cup in his cot with him, but sometimes he does wake for a drink...

oh bless her lily hope she's ok

oh no pikz :( Yay for positive thinking though, hope things are ok in the morning :)

wow evil you do lots of things! Very busy busy busy! I don't feel inadequate at all, oh no but seriously, sounds like a fab schedule. I am hoping to start taking e swimming again soon, but I don't have much of a schedule going on

Hugs vq, sounds like you could do with some!

Phew, think i'm at the end! Nothing much to report here. I posted on the fb group about pillows, but haven't used one yet! Waiting for covers to arrive but i'll see if we bother using either the quilt or the pillow. He was napping 10-11 and 2-4 and then sleep 7-7 (i'm not bragging, bear with me) but had started to wake in the night and didn't seem able to settle. So I have tried taking the morning nap away and doing 1-3ish. Seems to be going ok-ish but he seems so very tired by lunch. He should get used to it though shouldn't he? Today he fell asleep in the car for 10 mins at about 11:30 and then wouldn't sleep until 2 and slept till 4. Bed at 7, sleep at 7:30. Am I doing the right thing? I don't think it helps that he's got another two teeth nearly through and one of his fangs type area looks inflamed and seems tender. But I don't think the wakenings are down to teething pain as he doesn't seem in pain, just mumps about in his cot for a bit. I know this is hardly sleep issue of the year, but just looking for the usual quiche imput as your advice means alot to me

night guys x

BigPigLittlePig · 25/02/2014 21:04

Mondays is mummy/daddy and F day, for fun and playing. Tues to Thurs she's at nursery, Friday wih nanny, then the weekends we spend as a family - shopping, swings, dog walks etc.

Today when I dropped f off at nursery, her bf ran over, and gave her a cuddle and kiss on the cheek. F went all sheepish and gave him a dopey grin. Adorable.

Can't believe how much illness there is quiche wide at the moment. Hurry up spring, we need the sun and its warming rays.

BigPigLittlePig · 25/02/2014 21:08
Shock
BigPigLittlePig · 25/02/2014 21:08

Kyz!!!

GTbaby · 25/02/2014 21:15

Det mums of twins! Lol

In my post natal group with A there is a mum of twins and a toddler. She gets up BF the twins! Then takes toddler to nursery. She has a Csection but was out within 10days doing school run.

Now I know I know I mustn't compare. But sometime I do think what would x do. When I'm starting to feel particularly sorry for myself.

Kyz 1week and 4days. She still isn't talking to me. And I'm very greatful. I'm staying out of her way to avoid need of conv. As I know once she starts she won't stop talking.
I'm so looking forward to 1week and 4days time

YellowWellies · 25/02/2014 21:17

Kyz maybe try anbesol liquid on the sore bit of E's gums?

Det Bio-oil is amazing at preventing scarring. Once he's over the HF&M try it?

GT the outdoor playgroup sounds awesome. I'd like to sign up J for a local forest kindergarten once he turns three.

TheDetective · 25/02/2014 21:17

I've seen one mum with twins out at a group. Just one!

And yet there are loads of twins out there!

That tells you something, right?!

FatimaLovesBread · 25/02/2014 21:21

Doctors trip done, M is now on antibiotics for chest infection and possible ear infection. He thinks it started off viral but her left lung is crackling and her breathing is rapid so looked like it's turned bacterial in her chest. Luckily she likes the tastes of the medicine asking for "more"

Spent the evening searching for possible accommodation for a hen do. I've been looking for cheap but not too cheap, another BM has been looking at more expensive. I feel bad but I don't want to spend much, I'm skint.
Out of interest how much would you be willing to pay for a two night away hen do? For things like hotel, travel, activities etc

Woohoo on the sleeping going well flouncy

Can hear M crying, looks like it's first wake up of the night

GTbaby · 25/02/2014 21:34

Lol det

Yw they do mud pies and get dirty. Sounds so much fun. Been waiting for weather to improve really. And for H to start walking. Looks like weather change will come before walking so think I'm going to just go.

So argument (just to kinda off load a lil) started because I moved a lil plastic foot stool across the granite kitchen floor with my foot rather then pick it up. It was moved in haste by me as the kitchen was busy and its a trip hazard. I know it annoys mil as she thinks it will scratch the GRANITE floor. It's a tiny light cheap plastic stool. But I did it with out thought. Hind sight blah blah. Anyway this lead to her having a go at me about my hair. It's shedding loads ATM I keep it tied back most the time. But one time it's open after a shower because its wet and off she goes. My hair ends up everywhere. But wtf can I do? Wear a hair net?
Then she blames us for the scratches in metal sink and steal cooker and pots.
Argh. I hate it. She winds me up. I can't count down the days fast enough.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/02/2014 22:11

Wow epic kyz Ta for flea advice. I am pretty much doing that so will continue. Haven't yet braved the water test though. Think they're getting under control. It's only me and DD1 that have been bitten. E and DH seem to have escaped.

I have read and promptly forgotten all I was going to say

Re groups, round here det most toddler groups are in the morning. I find that a bit annoying as DD1 is at nursery from 12:30-3:30 and I'd like to take E to something by herself. But it is also handy as E naps whilst DD1 is at nursery so I get time to do stuff. Anyway....our rough weekly routine is thus:

Monday am home
Monday pm meet nct peeps
tuesday am E swimming
tuesday pm round to grandparents
Wednesday am toddler group
Wednesday pm at sisters/park/soft play
Thursday am home or weigh in clinic
Thursday pm same as weds pm
friday am rhyme time/meet friends
friday pm DD1 dance class
Saturday am home/park/out to lunch
Saturday pm DD1 swimming
Sunday DH plays golf, I do whatever

I'm hoping once the house/garden is sorted we can spend a bit more time at home. But DD1 prefers to be out seeing friends. I'm looking forward to inviting friends round for play dates loads. She seems to have inherited my socialising needs, if that makes sense!

fatima poor m Sad hope she's better soon. How much I'd spend on a hen do largely depends on how good a friend I am with the hen. I've spent loads on trips abroad and not begrudged it, in fact quite the opposite. For the sort of thing your describing I guess a couple of hundred quid would be my limit.

E saw the dietician today and she's broken the 8kg mark. Woop. We can now go half super milk and half moo milk so will see how she gets on with that.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 22:13

She is a. Horrible person I don't know how she sleeps. There are other things I could say but I won't.she is a bully gt hugs Thanks

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 22:15

Not caught up. J has just been violently sick when we were both asleep Hmm what a mess, and we were both distraught. I feel like I could vom any moment. I fucking hate this!

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/02/2014 22:19

chasing was your interview today? I've lost track of days weeks.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/02/2014 22:20

oh vq Sad xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 22:30

Loves vq I will come and clean it up for you while you shower. Xx

BigPigLittlePig · 25/02/2014 22:38

Oh no VQ, that is my worst nightmare. I am so sorry he is poorly. And I am sorry you have been puked on again Sad

Thechick · 25/02/2014 22:41

I'm so sorry VQ sounds awful. Hope he recovers quickly.
I did groups every day apart from Tuesdays when I met with nct people when I was on maternity, and there's still quite a lot to do for H's age in my area. I've had a couple of days off and was looking forward to doing the groups again and seeing some old faces. But with H's temperature and now the conjunctivitis. The ibuprofen worked amazingly. Brought the temp down really well.

Pp my H isn't even close to doing all of those things. You must be very proud.

Pr re potty training it was the same with ds1, he had to be trained before starting nursery. I can't remember how long it took, it prob was so hard I blanked it from my mind, lol!!

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 22:41

Aaaaand that's me down with it too. Fuckballs. I feel a lot better for it though. Been expecting that all day tbh. Tummy pains are something else though, poor little bugger. I need to buy the kids a new bowl for their play kitchen though Blush

flouncymcflouncerson · 25/02/2014 22:51

Sorry to read if vomfest vq

J still in bed. He's screeched a few times but not long enough to warrant a check.

I'm currently surrounded by simmer clothes. I tried lots of and got loads of pitying looks from Dh. I've put so much weight on Sad Sad I feel awful in everything and can't be arsed packing.

My physio wangled me a Gp appt this week so I'll discuss feeling low etc. She's also written great report for occ health so that's good. I'm worried about going back but I think I need to! It's just such a mess.

PetiteRaleuse · 25/02/2014 23:12

Poor vq :(

fatima good that you got her seen she'll perk up in no time

kyz epic you rock!

gt you should change the locks while they're away. Or move out. Angry on your behalf.

chick glad the nurofen worked hope the gunky eye clears up asap for you both.

fatima again I wouldn't go on a two night hen do I am always a little Shock about the money people spend on hen and stag do's. But it just doesn't happen here so I guess it's just another way I've become French. Not judging but I just can't really imagine asking people to cough up money on a piss up when they are already going to buy clothes, a wedding gift and maybe accomodation for a wedding too. But I guess it's the done thing over there.
