stunt they found a ford garage in Portadown that will bring me one tonight suspect someone must live down this way. The way they talk about it you would think I live in the wilds of nowhere Wink

Ahh well, that is the way I like it.

No potty training. They will do it themselves when they are ready.

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 17:58

Lily she will be ok x

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 18:01

No potty training here either. DD has only just mastered it this week and she will be 4 in April. DD1 was 3.5 and was in night nappies until almost 6.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 18:03

lily little O will be fine, she probably feels a bit violated. Lots of mummy cuddles and a does of calpol if she has a temp and a good nights sleep. Xxx

StuntNun · 25/02/2014 18:29

Wheezing starting again :(

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 18:59

Oh no Pikz Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 19:12

Great, I think she comes to me late in the day as she lives in the village and I'm easy! She gets home early. We have a good chat and no issues. I like her she is nice. We had a good conflab about the local schools.

And the playroom was respectable with a roaring fire by the time she arrived!

I am happy to continue going to the group as the boys love it and is a nice relaxed atmosphere, obviosuly some of the women have issues and a couple of others are just isolated like me. But everyone talks to everyone and feels part of the group and the volunteers there are great too.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 19:13

Do you have a humidifier pikz ?

PetiteRaleuse · 25/02/2014 19:14

See we have a bit of a deadline here re potty training - they can't start school until it's done. This obviously impacts on childcare costs. DD1 will be starting school at 3.6 but LO should start at 2.10 - I'm not too fussed if she has to wait a few more months and start in the January at 3.2, but I understand people wanting to get them into the school system asap and skip childcare costs. LO will start at a month younger than DD1 is now, and DD1 would have been ready to start in January but I chose to leave it til September and screw the costs as I wasn't sure where I would have been on the rtw issues. Disclaimer: school here at 2/3 is not like school there at 4/5. I'm not being a tiger mum :o

Re readiness for potty/loo training - I read an article a few weeks ago that one of the key indicators is the "Moi/je" vocabulary - once toddlers start to say me and I (my and mine comes later) the article said their self awareness was at a level that indicates they are ready. This is rarely before the age of 18 months which is about the earliest age they may become able to control their spincter. Another indicator is being able to walk up and downstairs (not crawl) as apparently that uses the same muscles as those which control the sphincter Hmm

Not sure how much of that is true - but it was a viewpoint I had never seen before. It said that in the past mums would start training kids at 12mo but they would almost never be accident free or even go of their own accord to the loo before 18-22mo. It was v much parent-led, time consuming etc, but saved on nappies/washing nappies. It touched on elimination communication but was quite negative about it basically saying it was a lot of faff.

PetiteRaleuse · 25/02/2014 19:15

Crap pikz sorry to hear that.

Pikz · 25/02/2014 19:38

Yep have a humidifier and have a ventolin to start treatment at home as soon as I hear it.

Started tonight. Shall see where we are in the morning. Good news is he is happy and chirpy, singing, chatting and running about. So he's not ill. He just can't shift the volumes of snot so I think it's that causing the wheeze to start.

Am being positive about it until told otherwise or will get too scared.

Evilwater · 25/02/2014 19:40

As for potty training that a long way away!!

I've put the weekly routine on the back, just in case.

Pm go to chatterbox, a toddler group.
Tues. - am go to crawl and toddle, a toddler group
Pm socialise with his friend
Wed. - nursery
Thurs. - am go shopping.
Pm see grandparents or to ryhme time at library. A walk afterwards
Fri. -am see dad
-pm see grandparents or go for long walk outside.
Sat. - am see great grand nana.
- pm long walk or child lead play.
Sun. - am child lead play.
- pm play in the park, or child lead play.

I know, I'm missing messy play, and swimming. Is there anything else??

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 19:50

I think that is super busy! You do loads. I aim for one activity a day except Monday which is an at home chill out day.

ChasingDaisy · 25/02/2014 19:56

Blimey. I only take O to one group a week. Poor kid.

ditsygal · 25/02/2014 19:57

evil that would be a crazy busy week for us. At most we do 2 groups a week (often 1) and 1 or 2 visits to friends etc. I try to get out most days but often it is just a trip to the shops, and there are plenty of days spent at home doing lots of child led play (otherwise known as me, F and loads of toys in the living room - with or without cbeebies on tv!)
I think you do loads and it sounds fab.

ChasingDaisy · 25/02/2014 20:00

Oh to clarify - the 'poor kid' is my O!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/02/2014 20:03
  • disclaimer one day my one activity is breakfast at fave cafe gawping at the sea or maybe lunch at fave cafe gawping at sea.
Evilwater · 25/02/2014 20:08

When I've put child lead play, I mean radio on, n helping himself to toys and me supervising him not MNing

YellowWellies · 25/02/2014 20:11

Jonas is in nursery two days (Mon and Wed), we go to playgroup two mornings (Tues and Fri), visit my sister and his cousins once or twice a week (Tues pm and sometimes Thurs) and one visit with friends. We usually either walk the dog / go to the shops most days too. Thursdays are normally our quiet at home days as I need a quiet day for sanity after rushing the rest of the week. I think DH and I are going to take him swimming at the weekend. He was doing water babies and loved it - but £130 a term is expensive!

We think DH might be having sympathy pregnancy symptoms. He's been bloaty and bilious for days, is utterly knackered, and driving to work he had to pull over and vom this morning! He's fine by the afternoon. I'm feeling fine Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 25/02/2014 20:16

Ah you see this is why my two are in ft nursery. There are no toddler groups around and baby swim is only on the weekend. And I have no friends in the area at all who aren't at work. Rural France sucks for SAHMs. The other reason was that I sucked at being a SAHM.

Once DD1 is 3 there will be activities on Wednesdays and the weekend.

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 20:21

Mine are in full time childcare so come home for a rest. Their activities are chasing each other around, and watching mummy run around like a blue arsed fly. We go to see my parents each weekend, and do the food shopping. Occasionally there is a party or two, or a play date. In the summer we throw them out in the garden and drink something cold whilst supervising.

ValiumQueen · 25/02/2014 20:23

J continues to vom and squit. He stinks. I stink. The house stinks. And I have to go to work tomorrow. I will shower in the morning as will likely be vommed on before then.

flouncymcflouncerson · 25/02/2014 20:23

We do turtle tots but that's the only planned activity. I don't do toddler groups as here they are very cliquey and I feel left out.

Night 4 of sleep training. He's in the cot. Occasionally I hear a small shout but that's it. So far so good and from what it read night 3/4 are the worst!

Evilwater · 25/02/2014 20:27

I'd love to do the swimming lessions, but they are expensive. As soon as I see a new swim suit I like, both n and me are going swimming in the Sunday mornings. Just for fun.
