I don't think I should google the possible possibles any further. My
SIL is going to the town later so I will catch a lift with her and we will nicely ask if her car clever husband could see what he thinks at the weekend.

Is a bad day generally. I am missing the girls and O is being a complete Clingon and tantruming if I don't pick him up. And now the car is dead.

Sigh.

PurplePidjin · 21/02/2014 12:15

Bad day here too. Wine Brew and Cake for all those in need

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 12:36

Clink.

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/02/2014 13:18

isles The act of moving itself is a piece of piss. You'll be absolutely fine. Just make sure you label what's in the boxes and sort out your rooms by priority. Which for us was girls bedroom followed by kitchen and bathroom.

It's the fact that we moved into an absolute shit hole that is making life tough. I swear they can't of cleaned for 10 years. DH had to replace every single light fitting as they were either broken or just too disgusting to use. All carpets have to be ripped up and everywhere scrubbed within an inch of its life, more than once. Someone is coming today to clear all the rubbish they left outside and in the garden and it's costing us £600. That's how much rubbish they left! And the house stank of fags and cats piss.

There were 6 people living here. How people can live like that it's beyond me. But it's starting to resemble a liveable in home (in some rooms) and come the end of this year once all the building work is done it will be amazing. I just have to hold onto that thought!

So isles as you are moving into a beautiful clean house with everything working you really don't need to worry. Moving with kids is never easy but you'll cope brilliantly Grin

ChasingDaisy · 21/02/2014 13:26

Isles, I moved twice with O in the space of 3 months. It was fine.

StormyIsles · 21/02/2014 13:51

Thank you. I am so excited about the house and all of its lovely loveliness. I emailed the landlady this morning to tell her it will just be me and M moving in, and to clarify the situ on a-dog. fucking xp apparently made up that the dog was allowed and hadn't asked, argh. If she's fine with him being there, I'm going to keep him. Otherwise I will relent and let him have the dog for the time being.

I have nearly finished the kitchen. Just waiting for the dishwasher to finish and then will do my plates and glasses and that's it. My favourite ramekins are awol in his trailer no doubt as is my cocktail shaker. But everything else is accounted for, including a forgotten bottle of champagne!

Big big hugs Sophia and everyone else having a bad day xxxx

YellowWellies · 21/02/2014 14:37

Isles sounds like you are on it! If anyone can move with a LO - you're so organised. Don't forget to leave a takeaway menu out for the first night. We're moving my sis tomorrow - I'm v excited she will soon be free of her unhappy marriage.

Eliza the house will be stunning and whilst the next few months could be trying it will be worth it. Our wee cottage on the island was a wreck when we took it on - it was so satisfying to transform it.

I've spent all week getting quotes for the shelving unit to be built and wood burner installation in the lounge. Am v excited. Have met some lovely tradesmen (sounds a bit dodgy!) clearly passionate about their craft and also some right chancers!!!!

applepieinthesky · 21/02/2014 15:18

Isles A lot more landlords allow dogs than they used to but some ask for a higher deposit in case of damages. We rent our house and the landlady is fine with us having a dog, all she asked was that we agree to get the carpets professionally steam cleaned when we move which is fair enough.

chasing and sophia so sorry you are having bad days.

StormyIsles · 21/02/2014 16:28

Apple that's what I've suggested. I sort of have her the hard sell. Hopefully hear back soon Confused

Yw my mum is letting me stay over the first night until my ikea delivery comes the next day. Would it be vvvv forward to ask a vvvv nice guy from work to help me build it all? Blush

applepieinthesky · 21/02/2014 16:40

If we rent next time around I plan on asking my current landlady for a reference to say the dog hasn't damaged anything. Hopefully that, a higher deposit and the fact that he's only left home alone for a few hours a day three days a week would help persuade somebody.

StormyIsles · 21/02/2014 16:48

Hi X

Hope you are well. I just wanted to confirm a few details for next weekend.

My direct debit has been fully set up now so you should receive the first month's rent next Friday. Like I said, I've set it up for the last working day of the month but if you'd rather change the payment day in the future just let me know and I'll happily set that up.

I have arranged a furniture removal company to move all of my things in on Sunday 2nd, leaving me free all day Saturday 1st to sign the tenancy and sort out utilities etc. Please let me know what time would suit you to meet at the house and do this, i am free the whole day and can be flexible.

As an aside, it only occurred to me last night that I hadn't told you about my pet dog. He is an incredibly well behaved small Labrador and has never been destructive, even as a puppy. Obviously the house will have all of my own furniture in it and he has never been allowed upstairs so you wouldn't need to worry about carpets or soft furnishings. I also have a very comprehensive home contents policy that would cover any flooring damage in the highly unlikely event something did happen and I'd be willing to pay for any other damage and have the property professionally cleaned regularly.

This was a complete oversight on my part as our previous landlord had no problem with him, but something I thought I should mention. I have spoken to my parents and if you aren't happy having him there whilst I am renting, then they are willing to look after him until I have bought the house.

I am really sorry for not thinking to mention this sooner and completely understand if you don't want me to have a dog in the house. It is no problem either way and my parents are happy to help me out.

Kindest regards,
stormyisles

Substitute parents helping me out for, "okay I'll give in and let my bastard x keep him"

applepieinthesky · 21/02/2014 17:13

Sounds good. Fingers crossed!

PurplePidjin · 21/02/2014 17:51

Sounds good, Isles but don't forget to check over the inventory. Take photos and make sure every last smudge to the paint work is documented. Funny things happen to even the most reasonable lls when checking out Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 19:06

Second pp about double checking inventory and photographing everything, we got caught out with scratches on the stainless steel sink Confused

Husband came home and spent an hour in the garage faffing with the car and can not work out what it is. In my low state today feeling like he is a much better husband than I am wife. Sad how can I show such a practical person how much I appreciate him, his patience and how he looks after his family? He just does it.

Lily311 · 21/02/2014 19:09

sophia a blow job would do it ;). Sorry, not helping, I know.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 19:10

And why do these funny lights never come on on the company cars we've had? Why why why why why?

ValiumQueen · 21/02/2014 19:18

I second a blow job. It always works.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 19:28
Grin

Ok.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 19:29

You two gave just completely cheered up my day.

YellowWellies · 21/02/2014 19:39

And potentially Mrsnowfairy's too! Grin

Lily311 · 21/02/2014 19:48

Glad sophia.

I'm off to sleep, a very grumpy toddler drained me. I took her nappy off at bath time, she run to her room and did a wee on the carpet. Great end for the day.

PurplePidjin · 21/02/2014 19:55

Definitely a blow job!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/02/2014 20:00

Ok ok!

Have also just seen OBEM starts in Mon. Live a bit of gratuitous labour!
