First I've heard of this

Lorelei353 · 23/03/2014 21:49

We had our '8-10 month development check' with hv on Friday and 8 month GP check a few weeks ago. All good. Development check was a group session with 4 other babies and the hv and a community nurse. Just a bit of a chat really about milestones, feeding, sleeping etc.

AGnu · 23/03/2014 22:22

Round here they do a 9-12m check. Calf had his at 13m. Hmm I've not heard anything about Runt's yet. I assume they'll send me a letter at some point. And another when I forget to respond to the first one!

bringonthetrumpets · 23/03/2014 23:15

M is doing better. I think it was a viral rash that was just sort of accessory to her other symptoms. She was coughing pretty hard last night right as I was meant to go to a benefit for a midwife who is battling cancer, so of course I stayed home after putting on makeup, which I never do anymore! Such a waste She still has the really gross runny nose but she is at least crawling around and playing. Lethargic yesterday meant that she wouldn't let us put her down and wasn't interested in anything but just laying on us all day. She's still refusing solid foods so we're back to the mustard-poos Hmm She was up last night from 12-2 and then again at 5-6. It's been a long day...

She has grown into size 12-18 months because of her length. She's 95th percentile for length and only 25th percentile for weight. She's a little green bean. Grin She can still wear her 6 month baby vests!

I love when pregnancy sorts the little ailments out Lor! Great news on the eyeballs :)

Ahh good to hear M is on the mend! It really is tough when they're poorly. Everything has to stop Hmm probably always the worst timing too!

I had a really weird night. Woke up with immense pain in my thumb. I've got that sore post baby thumb syndrome "Quervain's tenosynovitis". Anyway, last night I was reaching for the baby monitor and very slightly brushed DH which set it off. I was in so much pain I fainted in bed. DH had to catch me so I didn't hit my head on the side table Hmm I think it's time to see a Dr about it again Sad In others news...DH's attempt to help with sleep training is not going well but I think I've spotted why. 5th top tooth has cut through...and I thought we might get a break after last week Shock

bringonthetrumpets · 24/03/2014 19:07

I feel like a pile of poo today. I forgot about a homevisit we had with a client and also therefore, forgot to tell the team that I wouldn't be there. Got in trouble for that. Getting phone calls about a check I forgot to write and send in to the dentist to pay for services. DH is mad at me because I forgot about some stupid hockey game he's going to on Wednesday night. Seriously. Where has my brain gone? Apparently my internal calendar isn't working anymore. I just want to cry right now. Plus M was up until 11 last night despite me trying everything that I've ever tried my life with putting kids to bed, DH yelled at me for "not doing my job" (What is this, 1950?) when I just gave up and let her cry in her bed while I went and cried in MY bed. Plus its snowing again. Plus the boys are trying to kill each other over a baby toy. Can I run away please?

Hmm Hugs ladies! Sounds like a rough week, pear I've never heard of that before, is it quite common? Frightening you could have wacked your head!!Shock
Bring we all have days like that, can't you remember I forgot kittens injections twice Blush if you've not had a lot of sleep recently it's bound to effect how you function! Yes what was dh doing?Angry Did the crying work atleast? Sometimes you do just need to take time out and cry
9 month check went well, I have got a biggun, kitten is between the 91-98 centile for height and 75th for weight, she has a small head though although always has so no worry, only 9th lol

peardrop2 · 25/03/2014 09:39

Kitty ~ I think it's only common when you've been doing an excessive amount of rocking and picking up from Day 1 but I could be wrong. I was hoping that once sleep training began and I was no longer rocking it would be better but just a tiny brush on a object or if Bpear leans on it to stand up or accidentally hits me with a toy I'm back to square 1. I guess it's the location of it (the nobbly bone on your wrist leading up to your thumb). Anyway, thank goodness I didn't hit my head like you say!

We've now weaned bpear off milk in the night so his first feed is at 7am. I've noticed that I have a bit more energy even though he is still waking up at 5:30am Hmm It takes him 30 minutes to settle back to sleep but I'm already wide awake by 6:15am Shock Hopefully he will soon learn to sleep longer. Maybe the darker nights will help?!

Bring ~ whenever I have a bad nights sleep with bpear I have a shocking memory. I hate the feeling. I feel totally out of control and it's so embarrassing as I often look really dumb. I'm either leaving car keys in the ignition or forgetting obvious things...luckily not bpear! Blush

peardrop2 · 25/03/2014 09:41

Obviously I mean I'm already awake at 5:30 and can't go back to sleep... See I can't even type anymore Grin

Lorelei353 · 25/03/2014 10:42

I have that too pear . Bloody painful. It was really bad before Christmas so that's when I went to the GP and was referred for physio. The exercises and stretches he gave me helped but didn't cure it completely. I think now that I'm not bouncing DS to sleep anymore it's got a lot better, although it did flare up last week. It was incredibly painful when it first started though. DS chomped down with his gums on the bone once and I nearly fainted from pain. Thankfully it's not like that now but I do wear a spica/brace at night still as it really hurts when I sleep.

bringonthetrumpets · 25/03/2014 14:37

Yeah. He was watching TV Shock! All I'd asked him to do is to just help me out b/c I was spent and I was in her room for TWO HOURS back and forth, pick up-shush-put down, rock, etc and nothing was working. She would completely pass out on me and then scream when I put her down. He finally got the message and we talked about his problem with gender role expectations!!! Consequently, this happened again last night (M not sleeping, not DH) and I got random 1 hour spurts of sleep. She was up until 2:30 until she couldn't fight it anymore. Then would randomly wake up and scream, need to nurse back to sleep and then repeat all. night. long. We're heading into the doc today. She's had a fever for almost a week. She was writhing and screaming out in pain last night just randomly in her sleep and now she's sleeping on the floor in the living room Hmm. It's not good. I'm also in the doghouse with my "boss" preceptor, whatever, b/c I'm having to miss another day of appointments. I'm so tired and sick of living in sick-baby-hell! Can we fast-forward to the middle of April? Then hopefully there will be no snow, it'll be warmer than 20 degrees F, and I won't be stuck in the house all day. I'm sorry. You gals get to hear/read/see all the complaining going on in my head whilst I try to put on a brave face. Sad

peardrop2 · 25/03/2014 14:43

Lor - I really sympathise Hmm it's very hard to manage when we're still picking baby up in general! Advice I've read online is to pick up by the bum (not easy) rather then under the arms, take Ibroprofen and Ice cold water. Exercises would be good!

Lorelei353 · 25/03/2014 15:07

Stretches I was given to do are:

  • open your hand out flat and then using your other hand push it back, including the thumb, perpendicular with your arm
  • tuck your thumb into your fist then and keep hand level with arm then slowly move it out towards little finger side (to my left as it's left hand). This really hurt at first

Exercises to do were:

  • squeeze a stress ball 20 times
  • put an elastic bad around thumb and fingers and use thumb to stretch out the elastic band 20 times

Lorelei353 · 25/03/2014 20:30

Poor baby M. Sad

I think we have to itch number six coming. But of a temp today with it.

Lorelei353 · 25/03/2014 21:57

To itch? That should've been tooth!

peardrop2 · 25/03/2014 23:23

Bring, poor you Hmm what a week you & M are having! Have the meds kicked in yet? I hope you have a better night. Good that you finally have an answer to what's going on with M!

Lor - 6?! Shock I thought 5 was bad lol

Ahhhhhhhh! Someone tell my DH that we're having another DC! He's struggling to work out how he can keep his "boys room" and have 3 children. Men ConfusedHmmAngry On a more positive note...he told me tonight that his client yesterday told him a 2-2.5 gap is a good idea... Whoever this man is, I love him!! Grin

peardrop2 · 26/03/2014 04:31

Just to be clear... I'm not pregnant! Realised that last message may sound like I am Smile I'm just mentally preparing DH as he's struggling to think of anyone else other than bpear. Need him to be ready in 6 months time Wink

Right, so night 3 of weaning and I've had to cave in Hmm I really can't tell if it was teeth or pure hunger but DH spent and hour trying to settle so after 1.5hours I caved in. DH actually thanked me which was nice. Perhaps he now understands?! Anyway, I might go and get him weighed tomorrow and ask for a second opinion. Do I need to give him formula before bed?! My mum thinks I do but I really don't want to Sad I seriously doubt he will take a bottle at this stage. I do have a suspicion that he's not drinking enough in the day. He's never been a greedy baby and even with solids he's very clear when he's had enough. Saying all this it could be teeth! No6 is coming through after all.

Yes pear frus is right, formula makes no difference to sleeping, I think ff babies can sleep through earlier as they have larger quantities but it wouldn't make a difference now, you could try more food, kitten doesn't drink a lot either and stops when she's had enough and pushes it away and I never try to force more down her, some nights she has 7 oz ( the full bottle) some only 4 or 5, the hv told me they should be having 20oz aday but this can include milk on cerial, yoghurt and cheese as kitten doesn't have that much. It could have quite easily been teeth, kitten has 6 now too, her top 4 pretty much came down all together they've just broken through and she woke up in the night crying really distressed for a couple of nights and we had to give her calpol then she went straight back off, she never bothered with her bottom two but I think it was the pain of all of them at once and it looks abit swolen
Good to hear you have an answer for m bring, fx they kick in quickly poor little love and poor mummy! We get forgotten even though it's as hard on us
