Kitty ~ Anniversary present. I don't think I could do the bathroom trick. I'm really paranoid about hotel rooms being burgled/intruded so I wouldn't want to be far from his cot. I know real life stories that I won't share with you all as they're not very nice (and probably not that common) but have stuck in my head for good :-/

Lor ~ I hope things got better for you. I can't imagine what it's like going through the settling period. I know a few friends going through it all and most of them are struggling with guilt or concern. It sounds like time will help both of you Thanks

Bring ~

peardrop2 · 09/05/2014 21:28

Bring ~ hope you're feeling OK? Whiplash is not nice Hmm

So, I've been thinking about future weaning. My mum has told me that it is v unlikely that bpear will wean himself and if AF hasn't returned I'm going to have to wean if I want to start TTC DC2 anytime soon. It's on my mind as I don't want to be in the situation where DH confirms we're good to go but my body isn't Blush I wish I would just stop worrying about these silly things! Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 10/05/2014 17:24

Average time for AF to return is around 16 months but it's different for every woman. Also you can definitely get pg w/o having a period yet- we've seen lots of moms have this happen. You and baby pear will find the right time to wean, kids do actually wean themselves Wink

That's interesting Bring. I wonder whether that's Average because mums stop at 12 months or whether that's the average when then continue to breastfeed. Surely you can only get pregnant if AF was going to return but you get pregnant instead? I'll try not to think about it for a couple of more months and just enjoy feeding bpear. He's not showing any signs that he wants to wean anytime soon. In fact this morning at 5am he gave me a massive grin before snuggling in. As if to say "Thanks mummy this is exactly what I need". I don't normally feed him at 5am but he's been unwell so he's taking less milk at bedtime and waking earlier. The good side of that is that he then will go back to sleep until 8am which is just unheard of in our household! It does mean we're all out of sync but I'm sure it will return to normal tonight now that I've said this Wink

OK so 18months is November. I guess I just wanted to be in the right place for when it's time to start as I know how these things can take a while sometimes. It took me 4 months after coming off the pill and I never had AF back so I guess that is why It is on my mind. I don't want to get in that "desperate for a baby" situation again if you know what I mean Wink

peardrop2 · 11/05/2014 10:26

And yes bpear will be with me

bringonthetrumpets · 11/05/2014 16:27

Well, if you think about the cycle, you have to ovulate before you can have a period-so technically you can get pregnant before you know (with evidence of a period) that you're fertile. Make sense? I'm just going by the average that I've seen with mums who continue to bfeed until ages 2 and beyond. Like I said though, it's so variable! Like Frus mentioned, once baby gets mobile and you start introducing other drinks and more foods feeds tend to be more for comfort than actual nutrition.

You could always just be in the boat of "not trying but not preventing" and your body will find its natural spacing too Wink

kittykatsforever · 11/05/2014 19:06

I agree pear why not not try but not prevent? I did that after dd1 and did get pregnant before af returned but as you said it was likely it was returning and I caught before I did but I had just stopped bf aswell, it will be different from last time I presume comming off the pill or are you taking the pill? I just relied on bf as a contraceptive while I was doing it a lot ? Still plenty of time yet for that age gap and once he's off walking you'll probably find he does it much less

peardrop2 · 11/05/2014 19:13

If it was up to me I think "trying" but not "trying" is a very good idea Wink I would love to wake up one day and be pregnant (although I am tempted to track myself silly and aim for a girl next time although I do love having my boy so I know I would enjoy having two boys. Never in million years did I expect to say that!!

peardrop2 · 11/05/2014 19:15

Kitty I am not on the pill. Not going near it! I actually think bf is really stopping AF and I can't see it returning until I stop (I know I could be wrong but I just get a gut feeling).

Ha! I just read it as "precious first boy". Yeah, that's kinda lame! Pink and purple and no-one seemed to notice? Are they colour-blind? My PIL are awesome and I think they're better than my own parents (especially my mum).

Are you using any type of contraception, pear? I'm too much of a symptom reader and I get a bit manic about things that I am excited about, so "not trying, not preventing" is so NOT my style. I gotta know. I gotta be in control of the situation. At. All. Times. I'm thinking we're a bit similar in this aspect, no?

Gulp. M is gonna be 11 months old this month. She is standing on her own and is cruising furniture. She's walking from one couch to the next, but hasn't mastered the walking on her own yet. It's just insane how quickly this year has gone!

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 12/05/2014 18:42

Yeah Frus that is crazy. I bet they just hoped you wouldn't notice Wink Will you be able to return it now? What a hassle for you Sad

Bring ~ yes I am a massive control freak in that department Wink I was planning on TTC a girl next time by timing things but I don't want to drive myself loopy over it and "timing" Dtd would he near to impossible when I have no idea what's going on. Look at kitty...she got dd2 and she didn't time it so perhaps my relaxed approach will work anyway! I don't know what's got into DH because he gave me the green light today. Of coarse I am now wondering whether it's the right time lol Grin

peardrop2 · 12/05/2014 18:49

Bring ~ I know. The year has just flown. I really need to get working on bpears first year photo album. It's all going so quickly. I am a little more excited about him turning 1 this month now...I am trying anyway Wink He is standing on his own this week but not taking any steps on his own. I don't think he will be walking until July. July is my predicted month Smile

kittykatsforever · 12/05/2014 21:32

Pear kitten is not walking on her own yet either, idont see it anytime soon, she's really unstable even holding hands and furniture although she's on her feet all the time! And she's 1 in a week Shock
I'm a control freak too but after tiger I wasn't going to stop bf earlier then I wanted to conceive so as I had no af there was nothing to track, we only dtd once that month too as dh broke his wrist but I found it was the one time I wasn't trying as just had no idea when if could be at all due to no idea when I'd even start, it was the best way! As for TTC a girl, in all honistly I think swaying is rubish, I read a quote once from someone that said millions of sperm swimming towards an egg and we honistly think we can manipulate it?!? If timing made any difference then everyone would do it, both of my girls were conceived by dtd on the day of ovulation and my diets the kind they would say would influence boy, I GENUINLY think it's just 50/50

kittykatsforever · 12/05/2014 21:35

Bring I think m might be our youngest bus walker!!
Frus- how do you not see something is pink/purple Confused I wouldn't mind using second hand in the wrong colour but as a gift I would be pfb too

But look at Jamie Oliver frus!
Ido like him Smile
I know 1 year allready, kitten sometimes seems to say a word after you've said it to copy but then will never repeat so I don't feel its proper yet the only thing she says constantly is mamamamma lol in sure tiger could say words by now and shed definatly walked 5 steps on her own at this point as I had a bet with my sister shed do it before she was 1, kitten is too happy being carried sucking her thumb lol

peardrop2 · 13/05/2014 09:18

Yeah look at JO! Smile Well DH is neither a chef or a bike rider!

Bpear is crazy about his ball this morning. He would love a bouncy ball but I guess at this age that is a no no.

Bpear can say dada and mama. He also says gang gang. He knows who these names belong to but he will only use them when he wants to like when he's crying for me or when DH is changing his nappy.
