Forgive me, o thread, for I have taken the DDs skating, and then bought them Krispy Kreme donuts. A lifetime of diabetes no doubt awaits :)

Poor Figgyboy: hopefully it's slapped cheek rather than scarlet fever... Does his tongue look all red like a strawberry? See what the GP says, if it is he hopefully just needs penicillin and cuddles...

Hope people are getting out and about in the sun today. I'm still ruminating about me work set up: part of me is really tempted to keep doing temp work til DS is big enough for school... Argh, how do I decide?!?!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 16/04/2014 11:56

Sticker chart worked again last night, he woke up just gone 2 and I had to get him back in bed (he was properly cross I wouldn't sleep with him) and shush him for a bit, but he went back to sleep until 7. I'm hoping that he will eventually stop waking up for mummy/daddy in the middle of the night when he clicks that we wont go sleep with him and all he's going to get is a kiss and a quick cuddle and then I'm going back to bed.

Given myself an epic paper cut at work today, the hazards of an office!

figgy hope it;s not scarlett fever, that sounds grim!

aethal you awful mother you I gave DS a sausage roll and fruitshoot the other week, am proper mumsnet now.

Aethelfleda · 16/04/2014 14:41

Ah, hop, it doesn't really count unless the sausage roll is from Greggs....... (Someone posted a judgeypants thread about Greggs AGAIN in the AiBU section. Gotta love the trolls) the Krispy Kreme bribe worked well and they were v well behaved all around the Tescos afterwards, needed to get stuff in for entertainingthis weekend and am now pretty much stocked up.

Aaaargh, pant ninja!

Figster · 16/04/2014 16:11

The cheeky little blighter has been running around the house like a bloody hurricane all day. Doctor didn't think it was scarlet fever and he said that because he's been on amoxicillin for a week due to his chesty cough chest infection for last week he shouldn't of been able to get scarlet fever or present with it over the last few days. Aethel not sure if you would agree with that? The rash has improved he definitely still has around his neck and collarbone area he's never had a rash before so it is unusual for him but he remains unaffected by it and has been eating all day. He does have a short fuse he threw an utter tantrum over his jelly being too wobbly earlier. He's also decided he's scared of lobsters of all things Grin

I was supposed to be working from home today anyway so I've kind of managed to hide his presence although have been nowhere near as productive. Hopefully he can go back to CM tomorrow.

Aethelfleda · 16/04/2014 17:48

Kids with Scarlet fever are miserable, pretty hot, have a red tongue and the rash is quite dramatic. It's due to a toxin made by strep bacteria which amoxicillin kills so if he's had that already, and the rash isn't typical, your GP is right that it shouldn't be that. Hope he's ok soon!

NorthernChinchilla · 16/04/2014 19:54

There's probably a really complex term for that figster... Wonder how he'd take to the Little Mermaid then, and Sebastian?! So glad it appears he's just got a random rash- can't you actually get a rash in response to anti-biotics themselves anyway?

Thank you for the pant ninja explanation aethel, I had images of a black clad DS doing things with swords: I shall use ninja as the suffix for when DS is suddenly on the dining table and playing with knives, etc.... What's the decision ref work, to keep on doing temp, or go full time? Or to be a SAHP until he's at school? If you can do part time whilst DCs are little, it sounds perfect to me.

Really keeping the fingers crossed re migraines mopsy.

Just found out I've got to go to a two day conference, which encompasses the day I'd got booked off to have just me and DS bimbling around home and town, after the next BH. Am really, really Sad, but don't think I can get out of it. I'd normally be delighted to go, as it's all on my area of work, but just really shitty timing.

mopsytop · 17/04/2014 09:18

Bummer Northern Sad Sad

aethel, tough decision. Now lecturing has finished and I have slightly more time and am less overwhelmed by non-stop work (can actually work 9-5 ... amazing!) I suddenly have time to feel guilty about Minimopsy being in nursery 5x a week and to start worrying that it is bad for her. She seems perfectly happy at nursery every time I pick her up but I still worry ... and she frequently says 'no nursery mummy' in the mornings Sad Sad So I understand your dilemma. Having said that I am SO much happier than I was being at home full time. I found it really difficult and was struggling so much with feeling low. I would love a part-time balance but it seems impossible at this stage of my career. Ugh. Why must it be SO difficult?

Figster · 17/04/2014 10:39

Well DS is here again today have had to take him to dentist with me he was a star while I had a filling sat and read a book and when the dentist asked him what he liked to eat he said bananas and apples thank god it wasn't cakes Grin

The PIL are coming to get him then assuming my frozen face has improved and I no longer look like bubba out of Forrest gump am off to work

OiMissus · 17/04/2014 11:29

Glad it wasn't scarlet fever, and happy that ninja moves are preventing hard floor splashage. Smile
Oh and that migraines are being scared off ( probably due to the thread availability of Gregg's pasties and Krispy Kreme donuts.)
I am on my way back to the airport. The meeting was really good. My presentation was awesome. GrinGrin
And they made me stay up until 3am this morning drinking red wine.
There are definite benefits of working in a predominantly male industry. One being that I had the ladies toilets to myself this morning. Thank Bob! Blush Bleurgh!!!
(Remind me never to drink again, and never, absolutely never, ever to think it a good idea to share a cigar with Swiss salesmen at silly o'clock in the morning!) ConfusedConfusedConfused

mopsytop · 17/04/2014 17:51

Ugghh cigars Oi... devil's work. Guaranteed hangover Sad. Hope you're feeling better now!

mopsytop · 17/04/2014 17:51

Mmmm donuts...

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 17/04/2014 18:07

Today at work I had to do a team building morning involving a leap of faith in from a 30ft high platform and a high wire obstacle course. I had no idea quite how terrified of heights and I was, until I was halfway up the ladder, having an unstoppable nervous giggling fit. I ended up bum shuffling off the platform, but managed the whole course. Have bought wine, which I will be using to wash down a packet of of biscuits for dinner.

Aethelfleda · 17/04/2014 20:23

Am now engaging Mad Crazy Cook mode... Relatives to feed tomorrow! I have Many Relatives....

Aethelfleda · 17/04/2014 20:24

Ps Cigars, oi? Really?

OiMissus · 17/04/2014 20:34

No Wine for me. Couldn't face it.
I know. Boak indeed. Cigar ridiculousness.
Never. Again.
We're going watching The Gruffalo at The Lowry theatre tomorrow, and then off to the caravan fit the weekend.
At some point tonight, I'm going to have to do some washing. Hmm

Figster · 18/04/2014 08:22

Smoking whilst drunk is a guaranteed hangover in the wings ive learnt my lesson the hard way ..........never again!!

Ds went to Pil yesterday pm and fell asleep in car on way home at 6.30 he woke up long enough for us to change his nappy and get his jumper off then went straight to sleep in his new side free bed, he woke at 7am and didnt even try to get out here is hoping tonight is as successful!!

mopsytop · 18/04/2014 17:01

Going out for a meal with Mr. Mopsy tonight (MIL babysitting yay!) and a whole day at spa tomorrow woohoooo. Having a facial and a head massage. Meant to have a massage but I can't now because they say not safe until 13 weeks Sad Not sure that a massage would have the slightest bad effect tbh but I suppose better safe than sorry and I'm sure a facial will be lovely. Especially can't wait for head massage though! Plus lounging around reading, swimming and relaxing. Woohoo!

mopsytop · 18/04/2014 17:02

Also must I avoid jacuzzi? Or is it ok to go in for a bit?

Aethelfleda · 18/04/2014 23:01

I think hot tubs n stuff you're meant to avoid mopsy, in case you overheat and faint. Not sure about jacuzzis, though!

Relatives fed successfully! Venison pie, quiche and assorted nibbles were had. Now to bed (after watching Dr Terrible's Sing-along Blog and the first episode of The Returned with me v cool cousin. We are rocking the niche TV...)

NorthernChinchilla · 19/04/2014 07:22

Oooh, I've done that hop, and had quite the same hysterical wobbles. We had to climb a 20-30ft pole, turn around on the tiny side-plate sized wobbly top, and leap off and hit a ball. All safety-wired up, but still... loved doing the outward bound stuff at school in general though!

TBH Oi, think I would've coped with a few huffs on a cigar better than drinking red wine til 3- you're hardcore! Can't drink more that half a bottle these days, it floors me. How was the Gruffalo?

How did last night go figster, another success?

We're doing the rellies too aethel, though we're off to visit ours in Devon. Your food sounds lovely though.

What is everyone else up to for Easter? Eating own bodyweight in choc eggs doesn't count Easter Wink!

NorthernChinchilla · 19/04/2014 07:24

Oh, and in further tales of exciting purchases, I ordered our green bin and garden collection service yesterday!! We have to pay £30 per year for it here, though the council collects and recycles everything else, clothes, electrical equipment, included. Bet you're dead jealous Oi, with your Karen Millen and whatnot Easter Grin

Faffin · 19/04/2014 07:42

Busy weekend here too. Have some relatives staying already and more coming later. It's DD's birthday tomorrow and we're having a family birthday tea today, so I need to get up and get on with a load of cooking. Having a mini lie in because DS is still asleep, catching up after a bad night the night before.

We went on an egg hunt at a national trust place yesterday, will have present opening and egg hunting at home tomorrow, and then might do another NT egg hunt or the one at Blenheim (where that bleedin' pig they like so much will be putting in an appearance) on Monday.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Figster · 19/04/2014 09:41

Northern the transition to bed has been fabulous ..........so far Grin he's gone to bed as normal and we've heard him chatting in the morning but we go through and he's still in bed.

Yesterday we did the usual swimming then went to slimbridge with the PIL to see the flamingoes or as DS calls them the pink geese. Today all the men folk are off to a football match the footie widows are meeting at local farm shop with the kids then tonight 4 of us off to local Asian restaurant PIL coming to sit with DS. The restaurant a 5 minute walk away and bring your own booze so has been messy evening on occasion Grin

Not got plans for tomorrow or Monday since forecast been questionable. Chores and study to be fit in somewhere too. Will look online for local ideas

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 19/04/2014 10:05

Glad everyone is enjoying the long weekend. And yeay for successful bed transition figgyboy!

Sticker chart is going well, though we had a blip midweek wherew he threw a massive tantrum in the middle of the night. Yesterday we went for a walk at a local forest, which was nice to but we all got a bit burnt. Today we're shifting some furniture round and DS is going to help us wash the car (should be be entertaining!) This weather is is amazing!!!

Figster · 19/04/2014 16:15

Where has the sun gone? Seriously. Been at the local farm shop outside in their seating area utterly freezing my arse off.

i. Desperately need to go clean the bathroom before the in laws come round to sit for ds but Just inhaled a small. Easter egg with a cup of tea it was obviously necessary to bring my body temp back up Grin ds watching frozen again Blush i have a video. Of him singing along will. Stick it on the FB page.
