DS shouting in his bed Angry go to bed child!! He's been keeping silly hours the last few days trying to get him back into routine, clock changes not helped!!

Hope your DS chills out seven!!

Chipandspuds · 01/04/2014 20:45

Figgy DS has been the same this evening he only fell asleep about 8.30pm as he insisted on lying in his cot chatting and making F1 car noises!

mopsytop · 01/04/2014 21:05

Hi all I think Minimopsy has the dreaded nits ... I am not at home but have photo evidence. If I post on profile can you tell me what you think i.e. is it nits and also advice please on how to get rid. uuuggghhhh head feels itchy now (although didn't before I heard... )

mopsytop · 01/04/2014 21:07

Oh crap I can't figure how to post pic from phone.

sort of lots of little black specs which Mr. Mopsy thinks are black eggs (they're not lice anyway)

Aethelfleda · 01/04/2014 22:06

Pm me a link to the photo mopsy, we are well versed in nit eggs! They are usuallly stuck to the hair about 1cm from the scalp, and are sort of tear-drop shaped with the point stuck to the hair.

To get rid, some people like using shampoos (full marks, derbac or hedrin), and you can, but the best results occur by using "wet combing" every two days for a ten day total.
Get a "nitty gritty nitfree comb" from Boots/chemist. It costs a tenner but you only ever need one. Get a large bottle of 99p cheap conditioner from the supermarket. Wash childs hair with usual shampoo. Rinse. Then take child downstairs in a towel, sit child in front of a DVD, and apply twongolf balls worth of conditioner all over the scalp (eurgh).
Then sit and comb the conditioner all through the hair in sections, it suffocates and pulls the nits off. Sweep the comb clean on paper towel to check when you have got them out and keep a body count. Concentrate esp on behind the ears and back of head scalp line.
Repeat every 2 days til the life cycle of a bit is done (8-10 days). Oh and do yourself and DP once, if you find anything do yourself repeatedly too!

Now imagine doing this with three DC all at once sigh.....

mopsytop · 01/04/2014 22:25

Thanks aethel... Ugh though Sad Sad Sad
Are the shampoos not good then?

Can't figure out how to pm pic from phone either. Don't know if is just me being thick or if it isn't possible...

Figster · 02/04/2014 08:24

Oh mopsy that sounds grim where would she have got them from?

Fell out with dh this morning he's gone off to his first day at new office with not a positive thing to say. He's such a negative person and the fact that he has to get a job and try to forge some type of career to provide for his family (which he has solely failed to do over last year) seems offensive to him. He has no interest in work, has been thoroughly spoiled throughout his working life in terms of commute and Ability to coast it has made him entitled and he seems to think he's above having to get on with it like the rest of us schmucks i dont want to struggle through life with a dh who earns minimum wage, Don't think he'd care as long as he got his interests still. He also doesn't care about being in debt which I hate more than anything. He's an intelligent and educated person but seemingly has no work ethic Angry rant over!!

mopsytop · 02/04/2014 08:43

Oh dear figgy. That kind of attitude would wreck my head too. Maybe he is just nervous and this is how he externalises it?

Mr. Mopsy thinks prob not nits after all as no sign of anything behind ears/on scalp line near neck. Maybe just dirt. But what the hell was she up to at nursery in that case?!

Chipandspuds · 02/04/2014 08:43

Hmmm...I think I'd just ignore him Figgy it sounds as if he's being grumpy on purpose so you say something that he can bite at. I might be completely wrong tough! He might be feeling that it's finally real that his plan of being self employed hasn't worked and the reality is that he will have a boss telling him what to do for the next 20-30 years?

Good luck on getting rid of the headline if that's what it is Mopsy and I've heard that headline are immune to the special shampoos these days and conditioner is the only way to get rid of them!

I'm glad DS has short hair, I'm hoping that if he does catch nits at some point it'll be easier to get rid of!

Off to work in a minute, I'm hoping that they don't try to cook us to death like they did yesterday. Why do big offices never get the air conditioning and heating set to the correct levels?!

Figster · 02/04/2014 12:55

Most of the time I do just ignore it I seriously think he's going to hit a midlife crisis when he turns 40 next year (if he isn't having 1 already).

DS told the cm to shut up yesterday Shock

Aethelfleda · 02/04/2014 19:21

Argh, i just want to get the kids to bed so I can veg and DS doesnt want to sleep, DD2 is trying not to do her (due) homework, and DD1 has hijacked the ipad.....

mopsytop · 02/04/2014 19:27

Oh dear aethel :(

I got home, washed Minimopsy's hair, then did a thorough once over with the nit comb. No nits. PHEW!

NorthernChinchilla · 02/04/2014 20:14

Hurrah for no nits, it's amazing how the fear instantly makes your head itchy...and you're definitely fine with the brie mopsy, don't worry. Glad the cramps stopped.

DS is also at odds with his sleep, with the clocks and travelling back late last night- but it did mean he didn't wake til 6.30 today, so a blessing in a way! Hope you wrestle the ipad back aethel, and persuade DS he wants to sleep.

I hear you on the work ethic figgy, I think you're absolutely entitled to do some arse kicking on that one. Doesn't matter what a person does, just as long as they do do something productive- brain surgeon, SAHP, bin man, whatever.

Sooo...am absolutely shattered from my time off Sad. And you know what's like when you've been away, everyone asks if you've had a nice time, and it's a case of, um, where do I start? There were other horrors as well, involving the husband of someone close with what's clearly fairly terminal cancer. My Mum is still ill too. And I have PILES of work.

Deep joy...

Figster · 02/04/2014 20:19

He's still awake again!! He's quiet for a bit then gibbering away then quiet again he's not shouted for us to go up with him he seems quite happy but he will be tired in the morning and I'm on a 7.30 train to London so DH has to sort him out.

mopsytop · 02/04/2014 20:31

Poor you Northern :( sounds bit grim

Figgy, hope he conks soon!

Right, off for a relaxing bath and maybe a quick pee on a cheap test to reassure myself that I haven't imagined pregnancy. Although the constant feeling faint prob enough reassurance... didn't even dare drive to work and thought was going to conk out in a lecture today.

Also ... only four more hours of teaching (next week) until late September woohooo! Lots of marking etc. to do but still... yay

TheOnlySeven · 02/04/2014 21:15

Excellent mopsy. Can you take marking home or do you still need to be there? Pleased to hear no nits were present.

Hope all babas are asleep now.

I saw my lovely consultant today, so pleased I have the lady I had with DS and DD1 and not the one I had with DD2. I asked about the odds of a 35 weeker needing SCBU after DD2 and she's agreed I can have steroids at 34 weeks to try to prevent it. Also asked of I can do anything to prevent another early labour and apparently not, I'd love to know why my body ejects them at exactly 8 months!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 02/04/2014 22:04

Glad your consultant is good and supportive seven.

I can mark at home. Will have to go in some days eg to do oral exams, but can mainly work from home and finally get some actual research done. Two major deadlines in late September eeekk! So will be a v. busy summer. But will be great to be able to get stuck into research for a change. Writing lectures and preparing seminars has taken up soooooo much time.

Aethelfleda · 02/04/2014 23:08

Phew, they are all in bed, we had a sneaky Chinese (nice one near us. It's not cheap and the portions aren't big but that's probably for the best given my spare tyre!)

Sorry to hear about your friend's hubby northern, that's really rough.

Right, bed everyone! (Not together, that would be too much like the "chat" threads. Has anyone else noticed there are some crackers threads about tonight?)

BobaFetaCheese · 02/04/2014 23:37

I might be deserting you guys for the Dec 14 fred like Mopsy & Chip....

(unmnhugs) northen, sounds like a tough, wearing time. x

TheOnlySeven · 02/04/2014 23:40

Yay!!! Congrats boba :o

It's my birthday tomorrow. I realised earlier I will have been pregnant for 3 of my last 4 birthdays, next year I'm having a very large gin :o

OP posts:
Figster · 03/04/2014 07:16

Omg Boba I thought you'd stopped trying? 3 BFPs in a week I am green with envy clearly!! Don't jump ship we clearly superior to any other thread Grin

Happy bday seven!!

mopsytop · 03/04/2014 09:53

Couch to 5k is enjoyable. Glad I started just before getting preg as can keep it up without worrying. Anyway I'm pretty sure my body will let me know if I'm overdoing it, in which case I'll walk instead. Love the endorphin happy though! Grin

mopsytop · 03/04/2014 10:37

I quite agree about this thread being the best thread in the world figgy Wink

mopsytop · 03/04/2014 10:37

Oooh congrats Boba !

PartTimeProcrastinator · 03/04/2014 11:45

Ah congrats boba! This thread is making me seriously broody and Happy Birthday seven

DS just absolutely charmed the Health Visitor, he went into full performance mode and would not stop talking and showing her everything! He even blew her kisses when she left Grin
