Faffin · 10/03/2014 23:09

figgy mine have always had main light

Faffin · 10/03/2014 23:10

Stupid phone!

Main light off but a little night light on in room, pretty dark but not completely

Aethelfleda · 11/03/2014 06:47

We have had one of these on the landing ever since DD1 was little: it has a 3 year guarantee but is six years old and counting: the light is a soothing soft green and really helped allay night fears. It's also very cheap to run, and there's enough light to make it to the loo without the main light on.

I am annoyed, this cold is taking forever to go away. Grrr to annoying minor viral infections. And Dd1 is a bit gutted because she lost her tooth last night, we were up with slightly viral other children and the tooth fairy forgot to come Blush first world problems, huh?

Figster · 11/03/2014 08:37

I might switch the little light in his room off and put the landing light on instead he's never had problems with the dark but he's just loving his teddies at the moment and wants to talk to them until he passes out on top of them.

Hope u feeling better oi

NorthernChinchilla · 11/03/2014 19:47

HOOOOOOOOOOOONK

The annoying virus that's rattled around for the past week ("shall I be a sore throat? Yeeeee.....no, no I'll be a cough, now I'll just hang around making you feel like shite") has blossomed into a hideous viral cold. Zero to Rudolph in less than a day.
I worked my way through a phenomenal amount of tissues whilst trying to be professional in an Audit committee today, not good. And the sneezing!

This sucks.

figgy, DS used to have the hall light, then he had his side light on so he could read, and recently he's asked for it turned off so he's in 95% darkness.

Wonder what it was in the pasta that has disagreed Oi? That's a real bummer on a night off too.

Figster · 11/03/2014 20:30

Watching last nights one born every minute it's filmed at Bristol this year I had DS in Bath loved it there but loving hearing All the west country accents.

Aethelfleda · 11/03/2014 20:57

More Bab 5 over here. Commander Sinclair is still extremely mahogany..... It's holding up surprisingly well though given it is now twenty years old

Figster · 11/03/2014 20:58

Watching all these women pushing seemingly endlessly is weird as I only pushed twice and that was when they were pulling him out with the salad tongs.

DS came home today calling himself boy and had spent day at local national trust property which has a deer park so they've made "antlers" which is a card hat with large twigs pointing up Grin

Cm was asking about pre school today DS 2 wee chums are 3 in July so they both starting pre school in sep because he's 3 in December he won't start til Sep 15 and then school Sep 16.......that's right isn't it??

QueenofClean · 11/03/2014 21:09

Oi hope your feeling better soon.

Hopes everyone's colds/ viruses bigger off soon Grin

Figgy..Sky is starting pre-school in January 9-3 Monday - Friday. She will start infants Sept 16. Hth

PartTimeProcrastinator · 11/03/2014 21:35

I think it depends on the pre school some only do intakes each September others will do it from the term after they turn 3.

DP and I are off to Cardiff tomorrow for a couple of nights and DS is staying with my parents. We don't usually get a chance for babysitters so going to make the most of it.

What shops do you ladies recommend for clothes? I've been shopping in the same places I was a teenager and I think its time for a change!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 12/03/2014 13:04

Yo bitches, where is everyone?

part time I like Next, Zara, Newlook is good for basics sometimes, quite like Fat Face and do buy the odd thing from Sainsbos. I am not stylish in the least I am wearing a maternity top to work today.

Figgy no idea about pre-school, it's the term after they turn three here, so would be January. You might need to book your place now though, so maybe do a scout round?

Sorry you're ill northern and aethal.

Had lovely weekend with family. Sort of. Didn't kill my inlaws, so that's a bonus. Did veyr nearly totally loose it at one point. They're lovely, but they are just so...daft? In a cafe at the sea side, FIL, MIL and SIL (married to DH's brother) at one table, me, DH, BIL and my DM at another (but pushed together). DS is sat next to FIL, five scalding hot drinks are delivered to the table. FIL puts them infront of DS. He then accidentally wobbles the table and one of them spills every where. I snatch DS up and out of the way while it is cleared up. It's obviously showing that I'm quite cross because my MIL keeps prattling on about 'none splashed on him'. Well yes, I know that, but why the fuck did you put the drinks there? In front of my toddler and my SIL's toddler? Then FIL orders a slab of cake with cream and just sits there while DS reaches over with a spoon and starts tucking into huge mouthfuls of it. I couldn't reach him from over the table and had to actually shout at FIL to please stop him before he ate the entire thing, which was about the size of his head FFS. 'Oh it's just a little bit'. ARRRRGH! Just. No. When I say no, and I don't do it often, please listen to me! In good news DS was adorable with his cousin, playing and giving her toys and kisses and generally being really friendly and sweet. She was less keen, and shoved him over a couple of times and snatched stuff, but she's only 1, and DS, bless him, just took it and was very kind. Even when she pushed him over on to his bum.

OiMissus · 12/03/2014 14:59

Granddads do cake. There is no escape.
My dad will be having a gastric bypass soon... He's leading Boi the same way... But positive activity, exercise and healthy eating at home will stop all that!
(I'm ok, btw, thanks.)

OiMissus · 12/03/2014 15:10

Salmon creamy pasta - had lots of oil Poured over it, plus 1 glass of wine = curdled in my stomach > very uncomfortable > get rid!!Confused

OiMissus · 12/03/2014 15:16

We ate at Michael caine's Abode in Chester last night. Tiny portions (not popular with the Germans!) but delicious - so generally appreciated by all. With champagne. Grin
Good meetings. Home tonight with my boy!
GrinGrinGrin
Clothes shops - I am old. I shop at John Lewis! I used to be Karen Millen and allSaints, but I've put on weight. I've bought a few bits from Reiss recently. It's expensive, so I'm hoping they will last. (Great range of nice, smart, black trousers - look great - but approximately £100 a pair - so they'd better last!!!)
I also had a year shipping at Phase Eight - for work principally. But I need a change now.

OiMissus · 12/03/2014 15:18

Also bought some Levi's!! They have different curve IDs. To fit curvaceous ladies. £80 - but I think I look great (relatively!) in them!!!! I may be wrong. But it feels good! Smile

mopsytop · 12/03/2014 16:36

PartTime I love Phase 8, White Stuff, sometimes Oasis and Topshop (more infrequently now), Monsoon for dresses, John Lewis in general also (alas I, too, am getting old Oi!), sometimes Gap. Hobbs when I can afford it (more or less never!)

mopsytop · 12/03/2014 16:37

Hop I'd have been raging too.

Figgy haven't even thought of pre school but my nursery goes up to age 5 so isn't it the same thing?

Aethelfleda · 12/03/2014 18:21

ahem. I shop in TK Maxx, New Look (their jeans are v serviceable, and they do fat bird sizes ( try asking for a size 18 in Karen Millen/Jigsaw....) and occasional supermarket trips for emergency supplies. I also use M&S for work clothes brcause they are incredibly generic and inoffensive (plus treats from Per Una: their buyers TOTALLY saw me coming in the middleaged hippy purple/black stakes). Have quite a lot of Dark Angel stuff from my yoof that I still wear when I get the chance, it never wears out! But most shopping is short bursts of necessity, not "shopped for fun" for ages, no kid-free time!

DS wouldnt be elegible for state nursery until next Easter, which means Sept 2015 in practice as there wouldnt be spaces left by the Easter. But he's very happy 4 mornings a week in our private daycare nursery so I may just leave him there til reception as it means I could keep working without having to find a childminder willing to pickup (it's standard to have to pay such a childminder even for the hours they are at nursery!) .

Figster · 12/03/2014 18:48

I'm not a big shopper these days I just end up spending my pennies on DS but when I do need things I like a bit of wallis (generous sizing), next, Dorothy Perkins and primark. I think I've put on about 6lbs recently so refuse to buy new clothes for now.

I'm still lost about pre school will worry about it next year me thinks!

Ptp have fun in Cardiff go to the bay area it's beautiful on a nice day!!

NorthernChinchilla · 12/03/2014 22:21

I love Next jeans, as they actually do both flares, and the best boyfriend fit jeans on the high street. I have never worn tight/skinny trousers in my life and am not about to start- my flares have just gotten slightly smaller as I've gotten older Grin
I second Fat Face, and I've bought some cracking stuff from Uniqlo. Work stuff is M&S and charity shops- like aethel my work requires semi-conservative generic smart. I frighten enough horses with the piercings and tats....

Where have you been shopping PTP?

Glad you're a bit better after the 'evacuation' Oi, I know what you mean. But you do get to eat some nice places, what did you have at Abode, do tell!

Long day with an evening meeting in a different part of the county, so am just posting with a glass to wind down. Sniffles slowly retreating....

Figster · 13/03/2014 09:25

Extra long weekend this week it's dh bday today so took the day off am sat at the dentist with DS it's his first appt Confused I'm sure it's gonna be a disaster but I was due so thought would get him in too. Off to get dh work wardrobe sorted out this afternoon, go out for lunch then tonight him and one of his mates (who's bday it also is today) are off for a pint and to watch footie so I'll be working for a bit just sooooo busy at work!

OiMissus · 13/03/2014 13:25

Northern - are you a tattooed lady?!
(Have we had this discussion before? I think you were being ironic... I can't imagine it. But I have been known to be wrong, ...probably, ...maybe once.) (!!! WinkSnarf!!!)
Anyway, I had warm salad of quail (leg and breast) apple purée and truffle mange tout, followed by sea bream on spring onion mash with soy butter sauce, then a selection of cheeses with quince and preserves and whatnot. Champagne to begin, followed by Sancerre. :)

TheOnlySeven · 13/03/2014 15:29

oi that sounds lush.

I love that home educating means no worries about registering for school and nursery places.

I like next for jeans, tops and cardis are mostly primark plus a few supermarket bits.

DH is off doing his last long run before the marathon, he's hoping to do 22 miles, it's only a month away.

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 13/03/2014 18:21

Oh Bob Oi, that does sound wonderful, not least the fizz and Sancerre.

I do indeed have a couple of discreet tattoos, have been vaguely thinking about getting another- they are addictive though Wink

How did the appointment go figster?

OiMissus · 13/03/2014 20:34
