Congrats Figgy on DH new job. Enjoy Paignton.

Magic - took a couple of weeks for DD2 to get used to a bottle..perseverance and finding the right type of bottle was the key. She couldn't get on with Avent or NUK so tommee tippee was the ones for us.

Thanks all for asking about me. I'm okay just trying to rein in my OCD. Got appt next week to restart meds..not Prozac but going to ask for sertraline (think that's how it's spelt)

DD1 is doing really well her meltdowns I've really got under control so all the things I've put in place at home and school have been really supportive too. As well as support groups for her & me.

DD2 is just a whirlwind and hard work at the moment :( is very clingy to me and is quite suffocating whilst I deal with my OCD demons too.

We are getting there tho. Am trying to put a happy face on and carry on as normal.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Aethelfleda · 01/03/2014 08:00

((((queenie))))) Sertraline sounds like a very sensible request: make sure you tell them you have had proxac before (and any other drugs you have tried) but they didn't sorrt out the thoughts, as sertraline is meant to be good for OCD type thoughts but it's not the first thing a lot of GPs are told to prescribe due to the cost. Ask nicely and see what they say!

Magic we are South East but have relatives near Cambridge. It's a lovely (but flat!) area to be, though I seem to remember it's an arm and a leg to buy houses there!

DD2 is now shorter in the hair department, having experimented with her own hairdo (snork). It's not TOO bad but she has learnt not to DIY the hard way!....

hinkyhonk · 01/03/2014 08:19

Hi I'm a sporadic poster but in North Essex so not too far away. Mini herring for dh please. He's in an arse because I didn't go to bed when he did last night and so apparently I've caused him an awful night sleep even though both xhildren slept through until 7. I find I need a good amount of decompression time after I've looked after the children all day. So it looks likeost of Saturday will be spent dealing with his huffs

Faffin · 01/03/2014 20:04

Killer well remembered, that is indeed where I live. I hope DD settles down for you with the feeding. DS wouldn't take a bottle either, and in the end I just had to go cold turkey with him to get him off the boob. Bloody painful for me for a few days, but it worked and did a lot for my sanity! That's not necessarily the answer for you though if you don't want her to stop BF altogether yet.

Had a busy day with DD who had her dancing class this morning and a party this afternoon. DS got to hang out with Daddy who is his favourite person in the whole world Smile. We have been bold and tried DS in the big boy bed tonight because he'll be in one at center parcs in a couple of weeks. He went off absolutely fine this evening but I fear we may regret doing it early tomorrow morning!

Hope you all had a good Saturday

mopsytop · 01/03/2014 22:32

Amazing belated birthday dinner cooled by Mr. Mopsy. Huge prawns in brandy cream sauce, followed by steak tagliata (sliced rare sirloin with rocket, parmesan and amazing lemony, rosemary dressing) and homemade profiteroles. YUM. Plus half bottle champagne, then yum red wine. Feeling massively spoiled and rather tipsy Grin

mopsytop · 01/03/2014 22:32

cooked not cooled! Was all at perfect temperature!

mopsytop · 01/03/2014 22:34

Also Minimopsy napped for two hours this afternoon (!! I know!), then played happily for 90 minutes so I managed to write a good chunk of this French article I have due. And we had fun visit to a local park and farm this morning. So great Saturday all round! Lovely after this week of Minimopsy being ill and me stressing about work.

Faffin · 02/03/2014 08:02

Transfer to big boy bed was a big success! Now to get rid of the cot and redecorate his room. It's still in the neutral nursery colours we put in before DD was born

Pleased you had a good day yesterday mopsy

OiMissus · 02/03/2014 11:16

With bottles, the Boi was not interested, so we gave him an empty one to play with. He eventually found his mouth himself, so then we started putting a bit of milk in it. Smile
Had a glam night out in mcr with some local mummies last night. I even painted my nails. Boi wanted his done too so we both have sparkly nails today. :)

TheOnlySeven · 02/03/2014 11:25

Sounds like a great day mopsy

faffin excellent work on the big boys bed. We ought to move DD1 before August so we can steal her cot for the next one. Might have to do a bit of bedroom swapping though as I'm not sure it'll take being taken apart and rebuilt again!

Beautiful spring day here. I've got all the windows open and attempting cleaning while the big two play duplo, when DD2 lets me that is.

Hello All! Have had a lovely weekend. Mum came to visit and we went to see Mr Bubble -that canadian crooner and had dinner and went dancing and drank many gins. Have got tonnes of house stuff done, including new wardrobes put in our bedroom (sooo much more floor space now!) and DS is now in bed. In a bed with no sides. We have however put a stair gate on his room to prevent escape. Took forever to get him to sleep and I ended up reading a whole chapter on my book (yay for kindle ap on phone) while doing gradual retreat. Possibly picked the worst day to do it as he's got a foul cold and we've all been ill with snots and sore throats. First night he's gone to bed without a bottle stop judging me, he's clearly still a tiny baby and not two!-- Oh, and we sold our pram/travel system since we never use it. I'm suddenly feeling sick at how grown up our little dudes/dudettes are getting. Sad

How is everyone? Seems to be a manic few weeks for all on the fred?

NorthernChinchilla · 02/03/2014 22:15

Yep, had our friends over- it was his birthday- and had many cocktails last night, so was nursing a bit of a hangover this morning. We only do this a couple of times a year, cannot be arsed with feeling crap! Had a cracking night though, complete giggle.

Am now off to bed with the kitchen looking like a bomb site, it will get sorted tomorrow when I'm in 'professional' mode as opposed to student slob Wink

magic8balls · 03/03/2014 14:58

Wow mopsytop your DH sounds like a superstar, what a delicious sounding dinner! I'm actually salivating here at my desk after having a not very satisfying WW tomato soup for lunch Confused

DD & I spent much of Saturday on our own as my DH worked from 7am - 7pm, she did allow me an hour lay in on Saturday... 8am, wow!
So we went to swimming lesson in the morning, she slept for two hours afterwards and then after lunch we went on a fab long walk to the shops where the intention was mainly to find mud and puddles and do lots of jumping (myself included!), very fun! I unleashed my inner toddler on the streets of Cambridge.

Sunday we had a lovely lunch in the town, just DH, myself and DD... We ran out of water for her so asked for a juice and they brought out a Capri Sun. Have never had one so thought it was just like Fruit Shoot. That was until DD was bouncing off the walls and I checked the sugar content. That was a major error in judgement! I am super sensitive to sugar myself and was not allowed fizzy drinks until I was a teenager, I still can't take the sugar content and get palpitations. So I think DD is taking after me in that respect. Had a horrible night last night of DD waking up crying for "mummy" and then "daddy" and then "cat", until eventually the sugar wore off.

Loving that Boi has sparkly nails!!

Figster · 03/03/2014 18:59

Sounds like good weekends all round.

Weekend Away was fab spent all day Saturday, except for a cheeky half in the pub, either on cliffs, harbour side in brixham or on the beach at paignton. Sea air seems to have got rid of my cold too. Both nights we had bed related fun with me sleeping with him Friday night (well sat morning at some point) when he started crying and then sat night (again who knows when) when he popped up by my head and climbed into bed dh went and slept in his bed. We put mattress on floor as he's such a gymnastic he'd have been on floor on seconds just reinforced to me he's staying caged in his cot for as long as we can Grin Sunday took him down a cavern tour he was good except he was gibbering loudly and endlessly and the tour guide had to shout over him, then his banana obsession kicked in and we were heading for a tantrum disaster under ground but thank god I actually had one with me Grin yes we were the parents I used to judge for taking their children into highly inappropriate places.

Hop do u now have no pushchair at all?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 03/03/2014 20:29

We have a secont hand McLaren we use the on the way to nursery, he walks in home. I use the sling for naps and for out and about when he gets tired. He just screams in the pushchair.

PartTimeProcrastinator · 03/03/2014 20:47

Found out which secondary school DSS will be going to in September and he got allocated a place at the worst school in the area. I feel cross on his behalf Sad surely any kid (not just DSS) deserves to go to a school that can do better than 'not enough children achieve at least a G in GCSE maths'.

His mum is planning on appealing so I hope he gets a place somewhere else. Sorry rant over!

Your weekend sounds fun figgy I love the fact your DS almost had a banana related tantrum, made me Grin

ProfessionalKiller · 04/03/2014 08:24

ugh, the thought of even thinking about infant schools fills me with horror. Let alone secondary schools.

I am not happy. Dd is not yet 7 months old. Crawling like I don't know what, sits beautifully, chases me through the house. All delightful. However this morning she pulled herself up to standing.

Swimming today. Trialling dd having a lesson as well. So that will be ds at 10, dd at 11 and then my Mum at 11.30. At which point I'll need a nap and we'll go back to my Mums for pancakes Grin Mmmmm pancakes....

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 04/03/2014 11:07

I have bought all the stuff for pancakes. And now have remembered that I suck at making them. Oh well, pancake flavour mess for dinner.

Second night in his big boy bed went fairly well. DS went out like a light and slept till five, when he cried at the gate and went into the big bed with DH. He's lost his voice, poor monkey, as have I. So the night waking is probably more to do with that I think.

Figster · 04/03/2014 13:28

I am not bothering even buying pancake stuff this year as i do it every year and never end up making them.

DS has started calling me by my first name, encouraged on by his daddy obviously am savage about it but the more i tell him no i am mummy the more he thinks it is funny. I Am MUMMY DAMN IT!!!

mopsytop · 04/03/2014 13:46

Figgy, Minimopsy does that to Mr. Mopsy. Just copying me. He will grow out of it I am sure!

I am trying to fill out this progress report. Not been given any objectives as my first year so kind of hard!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 04/03/2014 14:09

DS copies me and shouted upstairs for DH last night; 'BABE! STEPHEN! COME DOWNSTAIRS!'

Aethelfleda · 04/03/2014 16:26

A few years back when DD1 was a baby, my Dad (who's got a big white beard and is 35 years older than me) used to take us both out for pub lunches on my mat leave and days off. I call/called him "Dad". Which was fine until DD1 started to talk and she called him "Dad" too... We got a number of funny looks until we realised she was doing it, and then I had to call him "Grandad" to correct her!

mopsytop · 04/03/2014 18:56

Major working mum guilt today. Minimopsy apparently crying from time she woke up until nursery. Missed me and wanted cuddles from me but I left for work before she woke Sad
