Jonas has NEVER been asleep by 7pm! He is bathed at 6.45. Fed to sleep from 7 and usually drops off by 7.40 - 8.30. He sleeps through now a good proportion of the time and is a happy camper in his cot at night and doesn't wake until 8am most mornings - so I've got no inclination to get him down for 7 and risk him starting the day at an ungodly hour!!!! GT don't judge A by H's standards. H was an extremely rare and good sleeper xx

Zamboni · 03/02/2014 00:19

How were the monster munch and Yorkie YW?!

GTbaby · 03/02/2014 02:19

I know A will never be like H. However don't want a 11pm bed time. He falls asleep at 7. And sleeps for an hour. I have trouble keeping him asleep and in the cot.
I know A isn't an awful sleeper, but after H it us a bit of a shock to the system.

PetiteRaleuse · 03/02/2014 06:29

GT i aim for a 7.30/8.30 bedtime. Like yw I'd rather not be up at awful o'clock the next morning.

YellowWellies · 03/02/2014 06:33

Zamboni he didn't react to my dairy goodies! Smile

GT fair enough on the 11pm bedtime Sad .

StuntNun · 03/02/2014 06:42

HE DID IT AGAIN! I think that's ten times now that J has slept through. If his sleep continues to improve then I'll be able to try the egg challenge again. I had to stop because his sleep was so bad that I couldn't tell whether it was due to the egg or just a normal night for him. I know he can tolerate me having a small amount of well cooked egg but I would love to be able to have an omelette or scrambled eggs once in a while nom nom nom.

Brilliant news stunt!

P is usually asleep by 7pm on a weeknight but that's more her habit that anything else. I am also very lucky that I am usually home by 5:30 as well. DH collects her at 5pm from CM then she has tea when I get home. Bath by 6:30, bottle then bed at 7pm. Normally she is asleep within 5-10 minutes. Obviously if I wasn't home until much later then it wouldn't be possible. Weekends she is in bed later usually.

YellowWellies · 03/02/2014 07:40

Stunt that's what I had to do too - wait until he was sleeping more reliably and then try again so that any reaction was more obvious as I just couldn't tell. Otherwise any reaction was lost between teething and other disruption. J definitely coped with Saturday's dairy challenge fine. He maybe comfort fed a wee bit yesterday morning suggesting he maybe had a mild twinge of heartburn but he wasn't in pain and he could have just fancied a long BF and I'm overthinking it!

Whoop! Here's to an omelette for you and a bowl of mac n cheese for me! Fingers crossed it won't be long. I'm going to do a dairy challenge once a week for February of two goodies I've been craving and then up it to twice a week and go from there! I'm going more slowly this time as the effect is cumulative. I'm already contemplating Friday's treat. It is going to feature cheese. Smile

PurplePidjin · 03/02/2014 09:01

R is odd. Yesterday i hung out for a 6pm bedtime and by the time i got him on the boob at 5:40 he was a strung out mess who cried himself to sleep. Get him on at 5:30 and he goes down a dream.

Looks like his new pattern is 6-6 then play and doze till 8 though :o

Elizadoesdolittle · 03/02/2014 09:04

There is no sign of DD1 yet. Just heard her cough which was a relief! We had a busy weekend but it's been ages since she slept in this late. Typically I wanted to try a new toddler music group this morning but going to be a real rush to get there now. I always think of pidj now when I fail to make it to groups.

pr I hope you all have lots of fun these coming weeks.

ditsygal · 03/02/2014 09:05

Gt how old is A now? I know F for the first couple of months didn't go to sleep until midnight alot of the time we used to take him up to bed with us at 10 and start the feed to sleep, sing, rock etc ritual all in a dimly lit room. Eventually when he was ready it just started getting a bit earlier that he would go to sleep and I think by 4 months he was going down around 9 and by 5 months 7.30/8ish - we had to follow his lead though and just encourage earlier sleep with a quiet bedtime ritual.
He now goes for a bath at 6.30 and has a bottle around 7, asleep by 7.30. Usually this means if he sleeps until 6am that is good - but the last 2 mornings he has been up at 7.30! yay!

Sophiathestormfairy · 03/02/2014 10:17

It has been brought to my attention that is was 10 years ago last Sunday that I had my BFP for DD1. If any of you remember the wild snow that hit everywhere and no one was prepared for, it was that night, after a 3 hour journey home that should have taken 40 mins. I thought I would do a test.

Actually has made me feel very tired of changing nappies, wiping bottoms and doing teething.

Got the winter blues.

Anyone else?

BigPigLittlePig · 03/02/2014 10:20

GT I distinctly remember long hours of feeding with no bed before 10 or 11 until gone 4 months...then she suddenly stopped and would flake out at 6. Nothing we did differently, just that she was older I guess. Now bedtime is 7.

YellowWellies · 03/02/2014 10:23

Soph I get that usually at the start of Jan - I've just been out for a lovely dog walk after dropping J at nursery - seeing the sun glinting on the North Sea and the spring bulbs appearing has really revived me. February is an awesome month as though it starts out dark and gloomy by the end of the month the light has really returned. Not long to go! Saturday was Imbolc the old pagan festival of the returning of the light (co-opted by Christianity later as Candlemas) and it was said at this time of year that spring is heavy in the pregnant belly of winter Smile

YellowWellies · 03/02/2014 10:26

GT what BP and Ditsy have said - J stayed up with us until we went to bed until easily 3/4 months, he started having a bedtime at 10ish at 4 months and within a month was flaking out by 7.30 - 8.30. He was just ready for it by then - we once tried to rush it and enforce an early bedtime at about 4 months but that just made him hysterical and wary of his cot. So we didn't push it after that.

Right freelance.

Which means you'll see lots of me today Blush

Lily311 · 03/02/2014 10:39

sophia I'm just coming out of the winter blues. And post Xmas blues. Thanks fuck.

Waiting for my new steam mop to arrive. Tomorrow my built in wardrobe is arriving. Can't wait, the spare loo will be not used as storage.

ChasingDaisy · 03/02/2014 12:00

GT, I am a firm believer of everything in their own time. I would start a solid bedtime routine now (if you haven't already) at whatever time he naturally goes to sleep and once this is established, start gradually moving it earlier. Since about 6 months when I left XP... I have been very lucky with O's sleep. Now, he is usually asleep for 6:15 - 6:30, sleeps until 5:30ish - has his morning milk and then back to sleep until 8am.

PurplePidjin · 03/02/2014 13:28

((Sophia))

GT r wasn't consistently asleep for the evening until 9 months when i taught him. They still need to cluster feed. It sucks but it passes Brew

Elizadoesdolittle · 03/02/2014 13:34

gt agree with everyone else. implement a bedtime routine for his natural going to bed time and then just bring it forward when he's ready to go to bed earlier. I think E had a bedtime routine from around 3 months but didn't actually start going to bed at a normal time (7/7:30 in this house) till around 6 months. prob went to bed round 9pm till she was 5 months and then around 8ish till she went in her own room.

lily you'll have to let me know what steam mop you went for and if you'd recommend it. I think I'll really need one when we've moved.

sophia I used to get the January blues really badly. I think what stopped that was having DD1s birthday mid jan. I keep waiting for it to kick in but think I'll avoid this year with the move. That will take up most of feb and then by March it should be warmer hopefully and as yw says, lighter. DD1 was saying she wants it to snow but I think I actually want to avoid it now. I'm ready for spring Grin

Thechick · 03/02/2014 15:53

I'm so ready for spring too
Very determined to get the garden sorted this year and plant fruit and veg again.

I saw PR's thread before and didn't even realist she started it, shows how much I notice. I cant stand raisins and mushrooms!! Evil things

Evil babies are fickle, very fickle, they are so young and being guided by instinct. It does get easier once they can communicate properly and then it gets bad again during the teenage years, but probably due to lack of communication, lol. Why do you think N needs more AB, has he got worse?

Passme Tesco's do bright bodysuits, is this what you were looking for www.clothingattesco.com/baby/bodysuits/icat/baby-bodysuits

Is there a growth spurt at the moment. H slept until 9.30 this morning and that never happens.

GTbaby · 03/02/2014 16:20

So I'm going to have to go to sleep at 10.30 Hmm sucks as 10 is when PIL sleep so I finally get alone time.
But bigger picture... Get A to sleep is more important.
He is 4 months now. So hope it gets a lil better.

Stunt woop woop to sleeping thro.

Soph hugs.

Thechick · 03/02/2014 16:23

The Following and Dexter I haven't been watching. I don't like horror stuff and too much blood and guts. The regular program I watch is/was, ER. It was on sky atlantic and I got into it during maternity leave, but they've just stopped it, I feel lost. It was right at the end of series 8, there was a small pox outbreak and Abi just kissed Carter for the first time. I'm going to have to get the box set from where. Also was a big fan of the first series of Girls, the second series was a bit too much, hoping the 3rd series gets better. It all seems to be about her. And it wasn't like that before.

PetiteRaleuse · 03/02/2014 18:17

Promised DD1 the pool tomorrow. Fecking AF arrived two weeks early. I should be ovulating. Am allergic to tampons. Fucksticks. DH will take her (not breaking a promise but i needed it to be me.)

Lily311 · 03/02/2014 18:34

Mooncup pr?

Still watching dexter, on series 2.

Sophiathestormfairy · 03/02/2014 18:40

Has anyone ever, actually, tried a mooncup?

Does it work?

Is it hygienic?

I mean do you just go to the loo and tip it all out then pop it back in? Or do you have to walk out to the sinks and give it a rinse?

It all seems a bit precarious to me?
