lora wanting to learn rules sounds a little optimistic! Ivy wants to take over and have everything her way :)

meringuesnowflakes33 · 23/02/2014 11:56

Birdies mine doesn't wave but is obsessed with clapping

LetThereBeCupcakes · 23/02/2014 16:30

Lora Love the idea of wanting to learn some rules! But DH is 32 and still shows no interest in rules, so I shan't get my hopes up.

Birdies we have waving, but he's only just learned to point. No words at all yet. They all do these things in their own time, don't they?

Oh yes to tantrums - mostly when I stop him playing with the cleaning stuff or playing on the stares. Bad mummy.

Colin the Crocodile is off back to nursery tomorrow. He had a lovely time going out shopping and drinking tea with grandma. Hope I've put enough pictures in his diary!

I made a banoffee pie today. It was awesome.

CreepyCrawly · 23/02/2014 17:54

Ugh AF is back.

Been at my mums for the weekend so will go back and catch up once Nancy's bathed and in bed.

Just a quick question though, does anyone else's LO 'space out'? Nancy goes off in to a world of her own a few times a day, and it's sometimes hard to snap her out of it. My (ever the worrier) mum mentioned epilepsy and now I'm too scared to google!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 23/02/2014 19:15

creepy "spacing out" can be a sign of epilepsy, but I'm pretty sure almost all forms of epilepsy don't become apparent until the child is at least 3 years old, so she's probably just a dreamer! If it was a seizure it would be impossible to snap her out of it, not just difficult.

mrsbug · 23/02/2014 20:15

creepy I knew someone who had 'absent seizures' where they just appeared to zone out for a few seconds. However even if it is a seizure, they aren't always a sign of epilepsy, especially in young kids

Lora1982 · 23/02/2014 20:16

Birdies I taught him waving just by flapping his hand about at people and waving at him all the time. Cant remember when it started, ages ago, but he waves at all thr programmes when they finish now too taught him that too Grin

8 teeth to go and we are safely past the shitty teething stage. Why do they get colds and bum issues cos of teething?!

Birdies · 23/02/2014 20:41

Thanks everyone, will start trying to teach her. She can do a sign for 'more' so I guess that's kind of along the same lines so hopefully if she can do that then she can learn to wave too.

creepy I expect there's nothing to worry about but I would get her checked out by your gp anyway just for reassurance. My DD1 has epilepsy but not the sort where there are absences - what happens when she goes into a world of her own? It's probably just a little behavioural thing she will grow out of but I'm a worrier like your mum so I would want to check!

happyhow · 23/02/2014 21:29

Tantrums here too. Mostly throws himself onto the floor face first or just sits howling. Usually when I've taken something off him or told him off.

B has the top premolars coming in - seems to he taking forever!

Had hubby's 30th on Friday. Went for a lovely meal with his parents and B and I'd made a cake and dropped it off at the restaurant earlier. He was suitably surprised and embarrassed! Grin

Glad you're feeling better Pascha.

Thanks for the info Angie!

glorious · 23/02/2014 21:55

Eugh back to work nerves Sad

E sometimes stares into space and is reluctant to respond but I think she's just concentrating on something. Don't know what gives me that impression though.

Super tantrums here too.

AppleCrumples · 23/02/2014 22:14

Ivy sometimes stares off and i also just thought she was concentrating god knows what on though,.maybe she is planning her world takeover

glorious is it your first day back?

Epic tantrum here today after i removed dd1 scooter from the little madam, we tried to distract her by getting her to look for her bunny but she just found it and then threw herself on the floor and rolled around crying! Think laughing possibly didn't help...

glorious · 24/02/2014 07:38

Yes it's my first day today. E was not pleased when I left (DH is doing the drop offs).

Perhaps Ivy and Ellen are planning world domination together through a psychic connection!

Tugstonia · 24/02/2014 09:45

Morning all,

Glorious best of luck for your first day back today Flowers. So lovely to meet you and your gorgeous Ellen last week. I think our DDs got on famously and very much enjoyed swapping snacks :)

How's everyone doing? We're having a few tantrums here too. She throws herself backwards and has whacked her head a few times now - she doesn't learn! Also think we have some back teeth coming through judging by all the dribble and grumbling.

Creepy boo about AF. My DD also zones out sometimes and has a thousand yard stare thing going on but usually when she's tired.

Welcome back hormonal.

CreepyCrawly · 24/02/2014 10:07

Thanks all, hoping it's normal then but will get her checked anyway I think. When it happens, she just stops and stares into the distance and doesn't respond to calling her name or even waving in front of her face.

No tantrums here, luckily. She's quite happy to have things she's not supposed to have taken from her, she just goes to find something else.

Good luck for your first day back glorious! I was dreading it but it was so much better than I was expecting and I'm enjoying being back now. Still only 12 hours a week though..

Polyethyl · 24/02/2014 10:10

Teeth grinding. I hate it. Why do they do it. I poke her in the jaw every time I catch her at it, but she ignores me and carries on regardless.

AppleCrumples · 24/02/2014 13:33

Good luck glorious! Honestly not much would surprise me with Ivy :)

Ivy has a couple of back teeth coming in. Shes really snotty today, not sure if its the teeth or another cold :(

Dc all back to school hurrah so spending today putting the house back together!

In other news dp niece dog had puppies and dp wants one..arrgh. We already have no space we can't possibly add a dog into the madness. Its not that i don't like dogs i just don't want to live with one. And dp hours mean that i would be doing most of the work. Angry

lollipoppi · 24/02/2014 19:18

Hi all,

Apple one thing I've learnt from mumsnet is that NO is a complete sentence!

Currently in hosp with ds1 and his asthma Hmm

lollipoppi · 24/02/2014 19:19

Creepy could you record it when it happens so that you can show the doctor?

glorious · 24/02/2014 19:36

Thanks everyone, it was ok but made me realise quite how much tiredness has affected my brain. Sleep still pretty bad Sad

Plus she's finally decided to drink expeessed milk so I'll need to fit that in somehow...

apples I don't blame you, no way I could cope with a dog and 4 children!

BuntyCollocks · 24/02/2014 19:39

Cautionary tale - never say something silly like, "Ooh, we've been really lucky, DS has never been sick in his three years!"

Because the next day, you will be up until 5am dealing with projectile vomit, sick covered sheets, and end up sleeping on a towel with a small boy whose breath reeks of spew and who grinds his teeth and kicks in his sleep.

We have all had about 3 hours sleep. I'm surprisingly fresh. Did miss a work meeting I was meant to dial in to working from home and had to quickly ping my manager - "sorry - covered in spew"

Ah. Children. So much joy.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 25/02/2014 11:25

apples we have 2 dogs - they are great but it was hard to train them up and I certainly wouldn't want to be doing it when I had young children.

glorious I know how you feel. We were up from 10.30-2 last night. Fortunately my boss is very understanding.

Went for a routine smear this morning and the nurse had some concerns. Apparently my cervix looks bruised (sorry if TMI!). She's referred me up to a GP but have to wait 2 weeks until the smear results are in. It might just be a hang over from having had DS, or even just that AF is on her way, but it could be something else. Trying to distract myself with banoffee pie.

We are off to get DS some shoes this afternoon. And to try out some of the kitchens in Kiddicare!

glorious · 25/02/2014 17:32

Oh no bunty what a nightmare Sad Brew

cupcakes that's not a good night. I couldn't sleep from 3.30am despite being exhausted, too stressed, partly about being exhausted Confused . Good that the nurse spotted the issue I guess, hope you can find out more soon.

On the plus side today I found out that a colleague is also expressing at work so I have a buddy to chat to in the first aid room Smile

AppleCrumples · 26/02/2014 12:57

cupcakes thats my worry that getting a dog trained with this lot would be a nightmare, and dp is all full of tales of roaming with his childhood dog I'm.worrief he doesn't appreciate that leaving dog and baby alone is a huge no. Will be puttung my foot down firmly on this one!

bunty hope ds is feeling better.

Sorry to all those still suffering with sleep or lack thereof

4 back teeth have appeared here Shock Shes full of cold but otherwise doesn't seem fussed!

lollipoppi · 26/02/2014 14:05

Bunty hope the sickness has gone now?

Cupcakes that sounds worrying but at least it's being looked into

Got home from hospital yesterday with ds1, he is doing a bit better, but yesterday afternoon dd started with a temp and sickness, there was no sleep last night for any of us Hmm

Lora1982 · 26/02/2014 21:07

He's a toddler :( / :) growing up but not quite a baby :(
