Hi there! Enjoying the name chat, though not much to add - I was hopeless at it.
Ear piercing - I think mine were done at 6ish (vaguely culturally appropriate). What I mostly remember is driving my mum crazy as I lost earring after earring and her continually replacing various little gold hoops. Probably best to wait a little later than that...
Lady, Arti - thanks for asking about my niece. All looks fine and healed at the moment, but they need to wait a few weeks to see how much the tear duct heals up. There is a fair chance it ends up a bit blocked and she winds up with a teary eye. The dog is to be spared I think, which seems right as I can't see how it was to blame.
Last week doing the Brum run next week (so no chance to meet I think Lady T). Its been interesting, but will be a relief being back. I think my comings and goings have been a bit discombobulating for everyone, especially for DS, who has been stuck to me like glue since I got home on Weds night. Cuddles are lovely, but there is a limit. I guess I did not help matters by going on an extended long weekend to Candada with my my mother to see my brother and family (including pretty new nephew). I'd forgotten how charming small babies can be - its always been a bit of a relief for me to have mine a bit bigger. Anyway, a nice trip, at a leisurely pace with the small people.
Lady - just read the newest Cazalet chronicles - I will always mentally thank you when I pick one up!
Arti - the new job sounds intriguing. Have been busy helping shepherd a bill through to royal assent (yesterday!) and it has given me a little glimpse into the world you inhabit. But I'm wholeheartedly persuaded by the saying that there are 2 things you don't want to see made - sausages and laws!
Indith - from Canary Wharf, an explore of the Thames! There are various options for a circuit that covers the DLR (fun if you sit in the front) boat ride on the Thames, ride on the cable car etc. Last time we did it this it turned into a glorious transport themed day where we took the tube from home, then DLR, then cable car, boat back down the Thames, finished off with a trip to the transport museum then home. Knackered out the DCs, but they loved it. I'd love to join you, but I think we'll be away that weekend - we have an early half term compared to other schools and it seems wrong not to take advantage. Though I have spent the evening scouring last minute holiday ideas. It is very tempting to do our usual run to cornwall, but I feel like we ought to strike out with something else for a change (especially as I know we will holiday in the UK over the summer). Bit overwhelmed by the volume of stuff out there though and don't really know what we want. Ah well.
