Hello ladies, can you believe we will be entering into a 6th year of this thread this year?

Haha DH was laughing at me last night because I always seem really surprised to have such momentus wind bursting forth from me, but it happens so often he doesn't understand why I'm so surprised.

JustRubes · 20/01/2014 18:57

Thanks Vag, that's a lovely thing to say (empathy not bursting wind) I'd and like to think that....
Had an embarrassing moment at the gym today. Was trying to leave and craning my neck to read the boom gate code at reception. 2 PT's were in the way, and one got all flustered and kept reading me the wrong code! I joked and said "haha I'll never be able to leave at this rate" and then I tried to leave via the "in" turnstile and nearly did a full somersault around the turnstile which was locked Blush I should never have gone today. Was knackered and just glad no similar occurrence's happened on the treadmill.
I have sold dh's unwanted phone upgrade on eBay for a good price so feeling pleased.
Also ds gave the ok to hand down his old scooter to one of his classmate's younger brother (after offering to his Mum) and the look on the little boy's face after school was priceless. Nice to pass on some cheer Smile

JustRubes · 20/01/2014 19:13

oh and I hasten to add the pt was not in awe of me or anything - rather was brand new getting interviewed and embarrassed to be in my way.

beans37 · 20/01/2014 21:27

that reminds me of something Frank Skinner said... don't trust dogs... never trust an animal that is surprised by its own farts. that's you, Vag!! hee hee!

Vagolajahooli · 21/01/2014 13:06

Cripes. DH off to Doha tonight til late Friday night with work. eeeek!!

beans37 · 21/01/2014 14:21

Didn't mean to post that. wanted to see how RT is? how is it being back at work? how did the au pair cope? how are the kids?

lady are you out there? are you coping?

JJ, did you speak to the mother? if so I hope it went ok.

Vagolajahooli · 21/01/2014 16:02

Seriously Beans! His work couldn't give anymore warning than a few hours! That sucks. DH is supposedto be going to Boston this coming sunday afternoon until the following Saturday and it is very inconvenient as we are going to Brussels this weekend to see some friends for Australia day and then next Friday a friend is coming is coming over and we are going out Friday night (big stylee, intending large amount of drinkage). So he won't be home to stay with her son & our boys and won't there in the morning to get up with the boys on Saturday morning. Very cross.

I know, it's amazing it was with so little notice! that's a bummer about your DH. But I see on Facebook that you're in tuscany for your anniversary. lovely!

IAmDeids · 21/01/2014 17:36

RT how was your 2nd day at work? Hopefully better than yesterday!

Lady if your lurking I hope your okay. As always am thinking of you x

Rubes I had to giggle at your gym incident. I made a total tit of myself at the weekend. I decided to 'show off' on DSs Yflicker scooter. Went down a hill way to fast, shit myself, slammed on the brake, hurtled over the handlebars and had to try and roll so I didn't face plant the concrete!ShockBlush I did however land side on it the mud. I was filthy! DS stood there and reprimanded me for going to fast while DH tried not to piss himself laughing whilst asking if I was okay. I'm such a tit Grin

Vagolajahooli · 21/01/2014 18:55

Deids that is spectacular.

Yes I'm quite excited Beans. It is our 10th anniversary this year. We wanted to go back to where we got married and it happens that this year our anniversary is on easter sunday. However the kids only have the weekend off. Their actual half term break is very inconveniently a week later. But anyway we will go anyway and visit the town & place where we married and also the farm we stayed on with our friends for the week of our wedding. DS1 has been there with us but he was 18 months so doesn't remember. But this will be great as they should both remember this visit in the future.

JustRubes · 22/01/2014 10:01

Deids that is brilliant. Did you go to a running shop for fitting shoes to your foot type? Think i will with so many aches and pains given my advanced age.
Well done vag. Sounds fab u lous
Had to have fasting bloods done. Drove myself there and didn't pass out. Maybe I'm coming out of my life long needle phobia. I'm proud of me. I feel like shit with worst period on history so am fairly sure the spinning class I had planned is being replaced with bed. Dd not too well so half expecting a call to collect her. Hope not. It took every ounce of energy in me to do the school run without my nespresso this morn. I bloody love that thing.

beans37 · 22/01/2014 10:21

Deids, I love that!

DD3 slept from 6.30-7.15am! With a dream feed at 10.30. I feel so much better and in control. Meantime, DD1 is exhausted. Again. Just keeps weeping. I don't really know what to do.

beans37 · 22/01/2014 11:10

PS Rubes well done on your needle phobia. I wish DH would get over his!

JustRubes · 22/01/2014 12:41

I still work myself up massively but nothing like I used to. It's about how they handle it and understand what I need (ie quick, no faffing, must lie down, must find vein fast etc) I have to take dd for her mmr thingy tomorrow. It will be a challenge. Being flooded by the fear helps. I found that if I avoided them etc it was worse with big breaks between coming into contact with one. pregnancy helped with all the blood draws. And DH did them at home for me which was good as used a tiny one and knew my veins.

IAmDeids · 22/01/2014 13:06

Rubes well done on the needle!

Beans that is a lovely chunk of sleep. Clever DD3, BTW your pic on FB of her is gorgeous. Such a beauty!

Rubes I never went to a running shop. I should have done. But I kind of self diagnosed a slight over pronation. And a these shoes were On offer and similar to my existing ones I bought them. I don't think my shoes caused my tendonitis just me doing too much too soon, and trying to go too fast. I can't wait for them to arrive though. My others really are falling apart!Blush

Honsandrevels · 22/01/2014 13:34

Well done Rubes, hope you have a nice nap.

Brilliant news on the sleep Beans. That's better than my dd2 managed last night!

Heartychoke · 22/01/2014 15:15

Hmm my post from this morning didn't publish. Here it is bits its out of date as I'm back home with sick DS again:

Hey Ladies, day three back at work and now DS' wheeze is back. It's a bloody nightmare and I'm about to ignore it and deliver him to nursery and beg them to have him until at least 3pm when my most important meetings are over. I basically have no back up for DS because au pairs aren't meant to have sole charge if babies. So it's not that the au pair is crap not having changed a nappy etc, its that its not her job. She does the girls and is great with them and can look after them all day if they are sick but she doesn't do DS except for the odd half hour here and there if I'm nipping out and of course babysitting at night when he is asleep. I wouldn't want her to do more as I'd worry in case he choked or something in her care, plus she is busy with the girls, but it is a totally different arrangement than with a nanny who you can just leave to do everything. Anyway, it's all rather exhausting and my hours are mental (I work 11 hour days Mon-Weds then 6 hours on a Thurs). I really need that lottery win to come through now.

Vegita, teaching sounds like it would really suit you although I think you will be a loss to nursing as you have always sounded both passionate and knowledgable.

Will catch-up properly soon. Love to all.

beans37 · 22/01/2014 18:11

Gosh, Hearty, those are some hours. You are a Wonder Woman. DH sounds like he's having a great time in Doha, although has gone with a really dreary colleague, so that's no good!

Deids, thank you for that kind comment re DD3! I think she's a beauty, but she's mine, so of course I do!

Our oil tank is virtually empty so have put hot water on electric and lit the fire. More coming tomorrow, so can have heating back on then. Thank goodness it wasn't so cold today!

I've discovered an amazing new make of curry called The Spice Tailor. Had a rogan josh on Saturday and having a korma tonight. Ridiculously excited!! And hungry. Am trying to lose some baby weight, but a korma is an exception... I also have to be careful not to get obsessive about weighing myself, given past acting disorder, but I do want to get thinner healthily. Start running on Sunday. Just 3k as am so unfit.

Have discovered Thundercats on Lovefilm. Girls are so into it. Takes me right back to my childhood. Love it!

Right, DD3 has gone to sleep. Must pay attention to the other two.

Has anyone seen the hilarious One Direction spoof on YouTube? Here's the link. I've been crying with laughter! here

beans37 · 22/01/2014 18:13

PS I seem to have already drunk a large glass of white wine. Oops.

IAmDeids · 22/01/2014 18:18

Bloody hell RT those are long days! Hats off to you, I couldn't cope and only have two! I'm sure things will settle nicely into a routine soon. It's still early days being back at work.

I'm now on day 22 of 'dry January' and can honestly say I'm not missing it! My sis said that after 21 days you form a new habit and replace the bad habit I guess! She thinks I'm going to become tea total. This I seriously doubt but stopping drinking had definitely helped me shift a few pounds along with my WW.

Vagolajahooli · 22/01/2014 20:00

Omg Beans that is so funny. I nearly wet myself.

Wow RT that is hardcore.

Thanks RT I'm quite excited about such a big career change, though when I think about not ever nursing again my heart hurts a little bit....well a lot. Up until now I've missed nursing but always thought I would go back. But I am still excited about teaching. I spoke on Skype to my old uni mate who swapped to teaching and feel really positive about it.

Rubes well done on the needle thing maybe you just need HPs to just get on with it. Maybe it was faffing and small talk you had an aversion to. Every time I see the nespresso ad I am think of you. We need a new stovetop espresso maker but I'm hanging out for the perfect one. I saw one the other day that has a little window in the top and a funky retro look faux wooden handle, it was at my fav Italian deli but it belonged to one of the staff and they got it in Italy.

Feeling super washed out. I got a massive migraine today when the boys had their mates over from school Ihad 5 boys in total (thats inluding mine). Luckily DH was able to come home and worked from home the rest of the afternoon so I took lots of drugs and slept it off.

Evening all, have yet to speak to school mum (been running late) but will let you know how it goes.

Vag have been watching you on FB about the whole retraining to nurse thing, how utterly crackers, are they already overflowing with outstanding nurses? Hope your drugs helped with the exhausting afternoon.

Arti my goodness that's long days. Saw your thread on childcare costs, it is nuts. I was paying out about 70% of my ft salary when both girls were in nursery, had assumedthat when S started school we'd be rolling in it but of course once you add after school club 5 days and school dinners (because I can't face making lunch every single day) it does add up again.

Oh btw on schools - how much clothing have your dcs lost over the first term?! S lost two pairs of gloves, 3 hats Hmm and a cardigan. Is this normal?! Her gloves now on a string, but no idea if we'll ever see the hats again.
