Hello ladies, can you believe we will be entering into a 6th year of this thread this year?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Honsandrevels · 26/02/2014 19:30

Oh Beans I feel like that all the time and only have 2 children and no dog. No other job in the world is 24 hrs a day 7 days a week.

Vag sorry to hear about FIL. From what you've said about him before then it seems like the right decision from dh to stay at home. It must be hard to know how to feel in such a situation as he has been gone to him for many years.

Indith Those are pricey bras! Are they Rigby and Pellar? Do they feel very different from Freya or Bravissimo ones?

Has anyone had a dc who refused to poo on the toilet or potty? DD2 insists on having a nappy to poo in yet is dry all day and most nights (although I do put a nappy on her just on case). She is pretty immune to bribery sadly. Any suggestions gratefully received!

JustRubes · 26/02/2014 19:32

I'm here Arti. Just SO much going on. It's chaotic. And now feel a sore throat etc coming on so I've sent dh off to ds parent teacher meeting. Not ideal for him at moment either.
beans. I feel for you. It's tough with 2 and a dog. And I want another (dog!) back later I plan....

Mckayz · 26/02/2014 19:55

Ah Beans, it is rubbish. I have very very occasionally wondered why the hell I decided to marry someone who spends half the year away. But it's great for the 2 months he is home.

I do really really miss the dog though. Wish we could have another, though it would be smaller and not a working retriever. Bless him, his new owners say he could still walk all day and not be tired.

ZuleikaJambiere · 26/02/2014 19:59

Hello lovelies, apologies for being a bit slack lately. I just thought I'd pop in and then once you're on my threads I'm on, I'd be a bit better. Hope you're all well? Some super cute baby photos keep appearing on fb to brighten my days! x

beans37 · 27/02/2014 09:27

Yes, Kayz, that must be so so tough. I struggled for2 weeks without DH!

My friend had a 10lb 5oz baby this morning. Ouch. Sore fanny.

Am meeting the newest teeny tiny Jamlet today. Very excited! I suspect DD3 is going to look big by comparison!

beans37 · 27/02/2014 09:29

Sorry, posted too soon. Thanks for solidarity on toughness of motherhood. Please don't think I don't love it; I really do. Just sometimes feel a bit done in by it! DD2 is at the question stage and I struggle not to lose it and DD1 is terribly needy. At least DD3 isn't mobile yet! That'll be fun.

beans37 · 27/02/2014 09:29

And RUBES! Hello! Are you ok?

ShadyLadyT · 27/02/2014 18:20

Hello fabulous ladies. Hope to be back later this eve. Just to say, am still in town and would be happy to see any of you tomorrow night. I know Kiwi and Spot (and PD and Rubes) were hoping to come too. So, was vaguely thinking the hotel in Waterloo where we met before. Have been having to cover a lot of days at the pre school for absent staff (we have had quite a serious personnel issue which I've had to deal with, groan). Back later to be more specific and try catch up.

Indith · 27/02/2014 18:41

Kayz it might sound like an old wives tale/something I bang on about a bit but have you tried eliminating dairy? I guess tricky if she is having formula.....but honestly dairy does seem to make a fair few children constipated. Both my boys have been sensitive to it. I don't have to eliminate totally so we are fine with normal cake/bread/butter. Ds1 was on goat milk for a fair old time (you might remember he had bad constipation and was medicated). Well once we started weaning ds2 it was pretty obvious that if he had yoghurt or something for pudding he would twist around in pain overnight and get constipated quickly. We have switched to soya for him, purely as he was already used to it as the CM's dd is dangerously allergic to dairy. Never been constipated since. I expect he will grow out of it like ds1 has but I'm hoping realising early will spare us the years of medicating and soiling himself that ds1 had. Could be worth a try? You have to eliminate for 4-6 weeks to see if there is a difference.

Motherhood is bloody difficult. SAHM, WOHM, doesn't matter. It is hard. WE are all lunatics for doing it. Wonderful, rewarding and all that jazz but my goodness isn't it hard!

Hons they fit like a second skin. My bravissimo fitting was good in that my boobs were well supported etc but they still pulled and tugged a bit and the first thing I did when I got home was take my bra off. Taking it off doesn't occur to me with there Grin. The shop is just a very good independent place. I think the difference is that bravissimo is still fairly generic, it is the best you will get on the high street and def a good place to go for a decent fitting but still fairly generic. They will fit you the best they can with the brands they have which are all made in china generic shaped brands. The independent has a wide variety of brands and knows well what fits what shape, recognises you can have 2 women with a 30 inch back but one might be wide left to right but narrow front to back and the other narrow left to right but wide front to back. they will need different types of bra. Anyway, enough of that. Suffice to say that a good fitting is magical. Look after your boobs ladies! My new ones are all Marie Jo.

So I am FREE! All done for year 1. 3 weeks to do some relaxing, get back on top of the house, enjoy walking to school with children and perhaps do some reading for year 2.

beans37 · 27/02/2014 18:51

Hurray Indith! And well done! Do you feel relieved? Enjoy your 3 weeks to the max!

Lovely to see you Lady. Do fill us in more later!

I saw the lovely Jam today and met teeny tiny Jam, although he slept throughout and despite my desire for a cuddle, I didn't have the heart to force Jam to wake him. But suffice to say, he looked gorgeous! I forgot my wallet, which is always useful. Thanks for lunch, Jam, and I've transferred the money I borrowed! Gosh we ate a lot. It was Deeelicious! And I've just eaten a bag of Tyrells Thai chilli rice crackers. Bleugh and oink.

Mckayz · 27/02/2014 20:41

Indith, I am not sure about eliminating dairy. She has milk and cheese every day and some days she would go without food altogether if she didn't have her cheese sandwich. I am not a huge diary eater. I have probably 1 cup of coffee a day and maybe cheese once a week and when she was EBF she was still constipated.

The poo isn't ever hard as such. Which is why I keep questioning the lactulose. The latest dr said she will grow out of it.

ShadyLadyT · 27/02/2014 23:41

Have just lost my first post on my iPad. Grrrrrrr. Can't retypd now as too tired, but are we rescheduling tomorrow or not? Arti, Rubes, PD and maybe Kiwi? Spot can't now make it. Thoughts? I can be in a Waterloo hotel bar between 7.15 and 9. Your call. My last train leaves Paddington at 2145.

Glad of the break for you, Indith. Marv! Lovely to see you, ZJ. Beans - bedtime sucks. Is my lowest part of the day. I find it extremely draining.
Vag - was very sorry to hear about your FIL - despite the circs your DH must be affected but it.

Must sleep now XX

Heartychoke · 28/02/2014 10:49

Lady I've lost your number! Can you text me?

poisondwarf · 28/02/2014 11:12

I can still make it. See you at 715? Actually I can make earlier if anyone wants to. I'll have to leave pretty early to get my train too. Shame spot can't make it. Does anyone know if Invis knows?

Vag I know you're probably busy but I'm planning to be in London from mid-afternoon if you and the boys fancied a mini meet for a coffee or something. I can get to most places pretty easy from Stratford/Liv St.

ShadyLadyT · 28/02/2014 12:19

Just to let you know PD and Arti - Rubes and Kiwi can't come either so there's a general sense of rescheduling...Arti, I've texted you on both the numbers I had for you.

poisondwarf · 28/02/2014 12:59

Okay no worries - next time then! Hopefully we can have a Vagtastic meet up soon.

ShadyLadyT · 28/02/2014 13:48

Right, I have a few mins to catch up and PD (and Arti if you were coming) - I am sorry suddenly to go with the 'reschedule' contingent at the last minute - would definitely still have come to see you two alone - but as it happens I do have a good excuse...You see ladies, I am up the duff and unlike my two previous pregnancies I feel very tired and quite nauseous, it gets worse in the evening and after the week I've had I am not on sparkling form and would be propping my eyes open with matchsticks. As well as teetotal.

I have nearly told you all so many times. I didn't even tell DP for a while and he's the only one who knows. I am just really worried that something will go wrong with it. Also, I feel INCREDIBLY daunted. Anyway, by virtue of my great age this is a high risk pregnancy so I will be in town oodles over coming months for endless appts. First scan today - 8wks. I will be having my third CS at the age of 42 in early Oct. Insanity really.

Sorry not to do proper catch up but I'm on the BlackBerry on the bus and it's not ideal.

poisondwarf · 28/02/2014 13:57

Wow congrats LadyT! Amazing news!

poisondwarf · 28/02/2014 13:58

Good luck with the scan today by the way. [ xxx

ShadyLadyT · 28/02/2014 14:07

Thank you. I am really crossing fingers things look normal. And that there's only one in there.

Indith · 28/02/2014 14:23

whoop! congratulations ladyt what wonderful news!

Sorry you are struggling more this time. Every pregnancy is different, it doesn't mean anything. 42 not that old really for a 3rd baby.

What lovely news. a wee small brother or sister for your fabulous girls.

JamInMyWellies · 28/02/2014 14:25

Awesome news Lady! Very chuffed for you. Good luck with the scan. xx

Honsandrevels · 28/02/2014 14:25

Congratulations Lady! That's lovely news. Nausea not so good obviously. My top tips are nibbling stuff like ritz crackers, salt and vinegar crisps and fizzy drinks stay down better than plain water. I had a ton of anti sickness meds too which helped even more! Hope the scan goes well.

ShadyLadyT · 28/02/2014 15:03

Thank you all Grin There just seem to be more hormones around somehow. More sickness, more tiredness, boobs more painful than I ever remember. It feels nice to tell you lot. I avoid carbs as a rule (try to limit them anyway) but they're the only thing that seem even faintly appetising so feeling fat already. Actually Hons, salty things and fizzy drinks are appealing. Barely even drinking decaff coffee - just can't seem to face it. Ho hum! A baby is such a blessing. I am glad I am not the oldest swinger in town, Indith Grin I am a mere 41 now but won't be in Oct...no doubt I will feel 82.

beans37 · 28/02/2014 15:20

Oh Lady. that's lovely. How was the scan? all ok? maybe it's a boy with the nausea. am actually welling up a bit at the thought of it as you've had such a shoddy time of late and this is a lovely thing. you fertile thing you!
well done xxx
