Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PurplePidjin · 21/01/2014 12:47

I cut them in half then freeze to avoid eating the leftovers...

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/01/2014 13:35

J eats raisins most days Blush he eats anything really, we don't mind giving him chocolate buttons now and again but he also eats a ton of veg, meat, cheese and bread, pasta, rice etc. it's all about balance! Smile

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 14:15

Hello peeps! I survived, and it was a lot more enjoyable imagining 50 sets of pom-poms shaking behind me Grin
Just need my hand holding until I hear.

Has a call at 12.30 to fetch J from nursery. I now have vomit in my knickers and a poorly limpet on my chest sleeping restlessly.

They cannot hold this against me. Can they?

Sophiathestormfairy · 21/01/2014 15:03

I'm Grin imagining you imaging us all standing behind you!

Did you get the call In the interview?

How did the vom get in your pants Confused

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 15:06

I turned my phone off as soon as I left Nursery and DH was on call. I came out at 11 and the call was at 12.30.

He was sat on my lap just about to have a bottle and he vommed everywhere. It was a big puddle in my lap and gravity led to the inevitable.

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 15:07

It really did help knowing you guys were thinking of me

Sophiathestormfairy · 21/01/2014 15:13

Hugs vq poor j pas him some sophia cuddles for me.

Thechick · 21/01/2014 15:19

Glad that you survived vq and sorry about J. Hope he has a quick recovery.

I am so tired today. I really need an early night.

Gt H's snacks are pretty much like Dets. He loves mango and avocado also. I give him raisins too. In tescos you can buy, I think, it's about 10 mini boxes and its a mix of raisins and saltanas or apricot and its a snack and a box to hold.

Re sugar, I just feel at this age they are a clean slate and they don't know anything about sweets and chocolate. We have complete control over what they eat so for my child I'm going to not give it to him until he's curious and asking. And isn't fructose from fruit different to processed sugar? It's not a complete ban, like he had half a rich tea at play group today, and I would give him a tiny bit of my porridge that has sugar in it if he's 'asking' for it.

Those that give satsumas, do you cut them up or give a segment. H choked really badly with and orange once and I've been chopping them up since.

fruitpastilles · 21/01/2014 15:32

I'm holding your hand vq I bet you smashed it! When do you find out?
Poor J, I hope he feels better soon.

S has segments chick she makes such a bloody mess with them the juice goes everywhere.

S seems a lot better today, she seems to have turned a corner Smile I took her to feed the ducks for a bit of fresh air, and she was walking (holding my hand) on the path, like a big girl.

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 15:40

No idea when I find out. Last time they said the same day and it was nigh on a week.
J has a temp of 39.9 Hmm

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 15:58

Down to 39.1 now. Scary biscuits.

Evilwater · 21/01/2014 16:24

[VQ] Just make sure he has plently of water/fluid. This could also be a sign of infection. If the temp stays is still up phone the drs.

Fingers crossed
Evil

ValiumQueen · 21/01/2014 16:33

Thank you Evil. I think it is just a virus. We have all had it in one form or another. His chest seems clear and he is not pulling at anything.

Did I tell you I had my hair cut really short? I look goooood Grin

MsJJones · 21/01/2014 16:55

Well done VQ! But sorry about J, hope he improves soon.

Chick I peel the satsuma and then cut the whole thing in half across the middle and then segment so they come out in half segments iyswim. Also means I can spot any stray pips. Another thing my family think I am being precious about...

MsJJones · 21/01/2014 16:55

I want to see hair VQ!

YellowWellies · 21/01/2014 17:10

Pidj freezing the other half is a fab idea I do far too much grazing off J's tray Blush .

We've got tooth 12 or 13 cutting today and he is miserable. He's barely eating. Organix crisps, raisins and hash browns are all he'll touch when teething. I'm counting down til bedtime!

Interesting chat about sugar and weight - I'm from a family of skinnies and didn't have many restrictions - Mum would only cook one meal and if you wanted something else - tough - we couldn't leave the table without eating our veg but we weren't forced to clear plates, my Mum would buy an multi pack of kitkats and crisps a week (enough for one each per school day) and if we troughed them the first day she bought them - tough - there weren't anymore. It taught me to moderate and a pretty balanced attitude to food I think?

Sophiathestormfairy · 21/01/2014 17:44

I too graze off the kids plates too much.

applepieinthesky · 21/01/2014 18:07

C has the occasional biscuit or piece of chocolate. I make sure he has plenty of veg and fruit as well. Luckily he eats anything and everything so I try to vary his diet as much as possible.

Good luck VQ. Hope they don't keep you waiting too long.

TheDetective · 21/01/2014 18:08

I think I sway more to YW's school of thought.

Although I am never really sure 100% what the best thing to do is.

Obvs I have am been overweight. My family are a very mixed bag of those who have been slim, those who are overweight, and those who yoyo all over the shop.

YW I allow DS1 a small chocolate bar and a packet of crisps each day. He's pretty good at not scoffing the lot now. He takes his crisps as part of his packed lunch - sandwich on wholemeal, with 2 pieces of fruit and a full fat yogurt. I am never convinced it is enough for him, and reckon he buys stuff when he has money, but I can't control what he does to and from school. Just hope he is sensible enough. DS has always been very slim, but I am well aware he is likely (as his dad, and DP have too!) to put weight on late teens/early 20's if he is not careful.

I don't restrict O as much as I thought, because of the DF thing, I feel his diet is so restricted already. I guess I feel guilty, so therefore let him have things I may not have done otherwise. I'm still happy with his diet over all.

Tonight we are having SW chips. So I will give him some of those, along with some extra fucking special 98% pork 100% fucking expensive sausage, and I'll pop some frozen veg on for him too. He will eat all the sausage, play with the chips, maybe eat one, and scoff all the veg Grin. With a banana for after.

Motherhood. Full of guilt, right?!

Oooh, satsuma Blush. Well, I peel and give whole segments, after initially cutting in half. He is fine with them whole. A couple of days ago he managed to get half the thing off me, and shoved the entire half in his mouth Shock and bloody ate it. Crazy kid. He was fine. I think they slip down easily?!

StormyIsles · 21/01/2014 18:55

VQ sorry to hear J is ill. I am sure you walked your interview though. Fingers firmly crossed!

Sugar. I started off being strict but am now a bit more go with the flow. She eats v healthily 99% of the time that I'm not bothered if she has the odd rich tea biscuit or spoonful of desert ignores the fact she scoffed two slices of toffee cake at my mums at the weekend

Actually, I don't know how to tackle that one. My mum used to be super strict with us (virtually no sweets growing up means I am now an absolute sugar junkie) but her and my step dad think nothing of giving M biscuits and cake and crap Envy Hmm

My little baby has come back from the childminders a fully fledged toddler. Sad She ran down the hallway shouting mumumum and grabbed my hand before taking me through to the toy kitchen her and her wee friend were playing in and handing me a cup saying ta. She giggled the whole way home in the car and when we got home she sat down in the hall to take pull her own shoes off Shock

StormyIsles · 21/01/2014 18:56

sp dessert. Obviously. She likes sand too. Blush

Sophiathestormfairy · 21/01/2014 18:56

How lovely stormy she sounds happy.

applepieinthesky · 21/01/2014 19:04

She sounds adorable Isles Smile

YellowWellies · 21/01/2014 19:12

Sounds like she has really settled with the CM Isles fab news!!!! Have you heard about your house or have I got the day confused?

Lily311 · 21/01/2014 20:18

isles that is so lovely.
I got my baby back today, she had the biggest smile on her face. She learnt 2 new words while being with my parents: clown and giraffe:). She loves them to bits and it makes me happy.

I have an a viewing of a nursery next week for 2 days per week (8-3, so not a full day). I feel so sad, I'm not sure I'm ready to let her go. The nursery has only 7 children in her group so it's ideal I guess, they are only allowed to take on 8.

vq when will you get an answer?

We have court date this week, second attempt to establish paternity and get the bloody Hungarian nationality. It's on Thursday am.
