Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Thanks pidgy. Dh will be away during the week for another few months. Then we might all relocate. It's a brilliant opportunity for his career but very badly timed.
I'm finding toddler so hard. It can be amazing (last night she told me I was her best friend) but the constant battles over everything are so demoralising. I think the problem is exasperated this week by her being ill so we can't socialise which is starving me of adult company.

TobyLerone · 12/03/2014 04:54

Tarka, and anyone else with a newborn and a toddler, you are a legend. I did it, but I'm pretty sure I've blocked out the full horror of it, as I barely remember that time.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/03/2014 06:08

band your work colleague is a cuntpuffin.

tarka and pidgy you are both amazing, I'm in awe of your coping skills as I barely manage one and my DH works at home!

MrsVDB · 12/03/2014 07:01

I don't know how any of you do it with a toddler let alone a toddler and a baby!

BandontheFun · 12/03/2014 07:37

Yeah she is a total idiot, also a bit of a cokehead so think she just wasn't thinking.

I really am in awe of you guys with more than one, we only ever planned in one which is good because I don't think I would manage with two at a time. So hats off to you doing it!

Tried a baby sleeping bag last night for the first time. Thought it would be the answer to my prayers, O was convinced H was only waking cos she kicked her covers off, but she was up like clockwork. At least she isn't waking up freezing. It's also mega cute like a little sleeping dress.

TarkaTheOtter · 12/03/2014 08:41

Had a much better night last night so no longer feel like they are plotting against me with their tag team night wakings. Sadly dd still too spotty for toddler group so stuck in another day.

I think the baby sleeping bags are great. Dd is still in one now - it's huge!

enormouse · 12/03/2014 13:16

band love sleeping bags.

tarka hugs, I know what it's like. Just sent DS out with his dad. This is the first time I've had time to myself in 3 days.

Quick q- I'm out on Saturday with DP and his parents have offered to take both boys (yes they are insane and very generous). It's my birthday so we were planning on lunch and shopping. Out from 11(ish) till 4/5 ish. How much should I express for Cal? 2 or 3 150ml bottles? More?

Going to get caught up with the thread now.

Felix90 · 12/03/2014 13:35

More high fives to you lot with toddlers and tiny babies!

I have a sleeping bag for Sylvie which is the correct tog for this time of year but she's such a warm baby that she ends up all hot and sweaty inside it, so I don't use it. My bedroom isn't even warm either, it's freezing! I've been using cellular blankets instead but she's started kicking them off now. And she's almost grown out of her cocoonababy Sad I wish she could stay in it forever, I love it!

Felix90 · 12/03/2014 13:36

Oh and I've started my low carb diet today ShockShockShock getting on the scales this morning was so traumatising...

Pidgy · 12/03/2014 14:27

Glad you had a better night tarka. How sweet of your DD! What a lovely thing she said! DS isn't at the stage of sentences yet. He's just starting to put a few words together. I can't wait until I can have a conversation with him. :-) Hope he says equally nice things to me.

Hope the diet goes well Felix. I'm useless at dieting. Managed to lose 8lb for my wedding but that was painful. Hoping breastfeeding helps me lose weight despite the chocolate and cake I keep eating!!

Lara woke for her first feed at 2am this morning. 6 hours since her last feed. I got excited but then I put her down again at 3 and she then woke 3 more times before 6. Grrr.

Currently sitting in my bed with DS watching cbeebies and Lara asleep on my chest. DS fell asleep in the car on the way back from soft play and them wouldn't have a proper sleep. Missed my chance for a nap!
Really should get out and enjoy this nice weather but can't be bothered.

fryingpantoface · 12/03/2014 15:59

KIT day went well, loved it. I'm in demand, everyone wants me on their team. Which is lovely. Also, was told i look amazing which helps :)

Henry has brilliant head control, he doesn't really need supporting anymore so we got the jumperoo out, Henry kinda bounces (we have to put a big book underneath) but it means that out living room has been taken over by the Moses basket, jumperoo, bouncy chair etc

FelixFelix · 12/03/2014 16:02

Frying does he like the jumperoo? I'd love one for Sylvie but we don't have the space downstairs Confused

FelixFelix · 12/03/2014 16:03

I changed my name btw Grin

fryingpantoface · 12/03/2014 16:31

He seems to like it. Ds1 was in it from about 2 months. His head control was good too.

I'm looking forward to the massive Moses basket crib going back to pil. It's huge

MrsVDB · 12/03/2014 16:36

Who is this felixfelix imposter?! Grin

Glad your kit day went well :)

When's everyone going back to work? I was planning to take the year off but now with everything that's happening here I'm thinking of going back about 7 months full time. It costs about £1k a month but I'd still be better off than smp. Has anyone done this? Is it awful? It would be from 7.45 to 6, 5 daysa week

Naturegirl82 · 12/03/2014 17:15

mrsv I'm going back full time in September, so Olivia will be 7.5 months old. Don't know how I'll find it at the time but that's my plan

FelixFelix · 12/03/2014 17:23

I changed it because I read it's really unfashionable to have numbers in your name on here and then I felt stupid Grin

I'm meant to be going back in January but I'm considering jacking it in. I'd have to go back full time too (8-5) and it would cost us £800 a month in childcare. With what we would be entitled to if I wasnt working, we would actually be £80 a month worse off if I go back to work Shock

TobyLerone · 12/03/2014 21:20

Is FelixFelix your latin name? :o

Meredith had her jabs/check up today. It seems she has a heart murmur, so the dr is referring us to a paediatrician. She didn't seem overly concerned, but still... :(

TarkaTheOtter · 12/03/2014 21:40

Oh toby that's shit. Any idea what the implications are? DH has arrhythmia but it has no impact on his life - is it similar to that?

FelixFelix · 12/03/2014 22:07

Toby sorry I don't really know about heart murmurs. What does it mean? It sounds serious Sad

TobyLerone · 12/03/2014 22:15

I think they can vary in seriousness from not at all serious to congenital heart disease. But most things to do with the heart have other symptoms (general failure to thrive, lethargy, breathing problems etc), none of which Meredith has. So the dr seemed to be referring us as a precaution. She said that she had trouble hearing it, so it's probably nothing.

Naturegirl82 · 12/03/2014 22:32

Oh toby fx it's nothing serious. Hopefully you'll get an appointment through quickly as being in limbo is horrible not knowing what is wrong.

curlywurlyllass · 13/03/2014 04:00

Toby my dad has a heart murmur...........

.........He is 70 in April!
Hope Meredith doesn't have any problems with hers

I'm shocked, Fed James at 9pm,he was asleep by 9.45 and woke at 3.30am for next feed! May be a coincidence but he has on a size 3 nappy now (way too big but size 2 newborn was getting tight) he is back snoring again now lol

How do the KIT days work frying?

Pidgy · 13/03/2014 06:15

toby, my DS had a heart mumur at the 1 day check and the 6 week check. We also got referred and he had a heart scan (ultrasound) and another check with pads stuck on him. (I think we had these checks because i was crying and dr didn't know what to do - he said he wouldn't usually refer for these checks unless there were other symptoms of a heart defect).

I was obviously very worried as you are but was told it is usually a 'normal' abnormality. If there are no other bad signs (blue lips, poor feeding, gasping for breath) it's highly unlikely there will be any issues. Most people grow out if it as the heart gets bigger. All our checks came back fine and it was caused by the shape of the heart causing a bit of 'turbulence'. DS is a healthy toddler who has continued to track along his % for height/weight etc.

My brother who is superfit, cycles off road 150 Miles in a day, does other crazy cycling races then told me he also has one! He has no issues and is a gp so listened to it to check it was still there, which it was!

I know every case is different, and it is a worry, but wanted to tell you our story to show it's not all bad. I'm sure Meredith will be fine. X

fryingpantoface · 13/03/2014 07:00

I'm sure your a little worried, but ds1 had a slight murmur. He grew out of it though.

kit days are when you can go into work and get paid for it, without it affecting your mat leave. You get 10 the whole time you aren't there. You could go on a team day out, or training, and still be paid
