Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Million I'm so sorry Sad I would have thought the doctor would deem it important enough to actually bother completing the referral! It's awful that they have just left you waiting and having to chase it up yourself. Hopefully they can make it a quick process and get him seen ASAP.

MrsVDB · 03/04/2014 14:59

million sorry to hear that but at Least it's a gain, going in the right direction. Hopefully you'll get the referral soon

Naturegirl82 · 03/04/2014 15:22

sat in the garage waiting area keeping my fingers crossed O doesn't wake up as I don't fancy feeding her here! Imagine the looks! Shock

TobyLerone · 03/04/2014 15:27

million, could it be a sign that the GP is not too concerned?
I've just taken DS to the orthodontist and all the girls were cooing over Meredith. They were commenting on how tiny she is for 12 weeks, asking if she was premature etc.
So it's not just you! I hope you get your referral sorted soon.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/04/2014 16:05

I've called the gp, who said they did refer me and that i should call this number, so did, and they didn't have the details and told me to call the gp. After 20 mins of this, i will receive the apt in the post in the next couple of days. There are two systems which makes it harder.

The Hv i saw, not mine, was lovely. She said that coming in every week was going to make me anxious and as I've had pnd before, wouldn't help. If my appt i get is within the next two weeks, I'm to skip clinic, if it isn't, then to go in again and she'll play merry hell (her words) i wouldn't have been worried about Henry if people hadn't told me to and made a big deal. She said that if i didn't think there was anything wrong with him, then there probably wasn't but its worth getting checked out anyway

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/04/2014 16:06

Sorry for mistakes, am typing on phone and pushing the pushchair at the same time

FelixFelix · 03/04/2014 16:12

Million that HV sounds lovely Smile

TobyLerone · 03/04/2014 16:35

Glad your HV is lovely and reassuring, million. I'm inclined to agree with her. If you think Henry is ok, he probably is. Likewise, if you're worried about him, trust yourself. Hope the referral comes through quickly, they say he's fine, and you can enjoy him (and the sleep you're getting!) a bit more.

Naturegirl82 · 03/04/2014 16:44

million glad you've seen someone who seems to be speaking sense for once. Smile

enormouse · 03/04/2014 17:50

million that hv sounds lovely. It does make a big difference to get one with a positive attitude.

We went out for lunch as dp had a day off which was lovely. DS1s favourite waitress was there and he was pretty well behaved as he 'lubs his Steffni'.
But he then had a tantrum in lidls which was awful and embarrassing. It was definitely a parenting low point to have him starfishing himself along the veg aisle floor in protest whilst I held onto his toddler reins. It looked like I was dragging him along by a leash. Blush

He then wet himself and I didn't have a change of clothes for him so we had to take a taxi home. I'm beyond knackered as Cal was up every hour last night

I'm now going to order Chinese and hope the delivery guy doesn't remember we ordered some yesterday to eat in bed whilst watching ogling the musketeers. Followed by the bag of magic stars I've hidden.

flyawayblue · 03/04/2014 19:24

million glad you saw a nice hv and she had some good advice. It sounds so hard.

I've had an odd few days, looks like Alice has a major milk allergy. Last night I made up a bottle of formula for dh to feed her for bedtime and she complained while we were trying to feed her and was then sick, as she was being sick I took her from our dark room to the bathroom and she was covered in hives and still retching. Que huge panic and a call to my aunt who's a pediatrician. Luckily it didn't effect her airwaves so after a breastfeed and bath to wash off the milk she was okay but out of sorts. So so scary and now need to work out if I need to remove milk from my diet. It was a formula we've used before but according to my aunt and gp this was before her immune system kicked in.

TarkaTheOtter · 03/04/2014 19:41

That sounds scary fly! Do they think she will grow out of it?

TarkaTheOtter · 03/04/2014 19:44

There's something about lidl enormouse, last time we were there dd threw a mega tantrum. People made comments ("she'll grow out of it") and someone offered to get me a trolley!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/04/2014 20:14

Oh my gosh fly that's scary, hope she's feeling herself again soon.

I've just had a wonderful stir fry for tea. It was soy and ginger sauce, just from Asda, but so nice. Had the sauce, egg noodles, and the Thai stir fry veg pack. And chicken thighs. Just if anyone wants to recreate it :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 03/04/2014 21:14

million you poor love. Glad you finally found a half decent HV who's talking sense. As toby says, if you think he's okay, I say trust your instinct (NB: more on this in a sec though...)

nature we had a flat today too! Must be catching. As the car is new and I was feeling feeble I didn't know where the jack was, so called the AA Blush. Luckily the man who came said he struggled to get the nuts off, so it was good I called. I did feed Alex in the car at Kwik Fit waiting for them to fit a new tyre (spare was a temporary one).

book GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin sorry to laugh! but that is BRILLIANT! Poo on your FACE! You poor thing, shall we send you Wine too? still sniggering

pidgy, tarka, enormouse and anyone else with more than one, particularly a toddler and a baby: you are LEGENDS. No matter if you cry, shout, have poo on your laps/faces/in your hair, I am in awe of you all.

So, the 'trust your instinct' thing? Well, after her bath this morning, Alex came up in a rash all of a sudden. I panicked. Screamed at DH to ring GP, rushed her down there, was trying not to cry, the full works.

I deliberately haven't said where the rash was...

Yep. Took off her nappy; rash all gone, and v kind and sweet doc trying not to grin as he explained that it was probably nappy rash. I didn't even think of that - a rash under her nappy? Hmmmm, what could it be? Hmm

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 03/04/2014 21:15

I knew I'd forgotten to say one thing! fly you sound v calm! hope it didn't terrify you too much. Poor little thing, so hard to be allergic to things.

TarkaTheOtter · 03/04/2014 21:18

Haha humpty, glad it was nothing serious though!

beccajoh · 03/04/2014 21:44

Humpty that's hilarious Grin

Re. Having more than one, I have to say that in my case it's not all that much harder. Going from no children to one child is a huge life changer and it was a monumental shock for me. There really isn't any way to prepare for it is there... 1-2 kids wasn't nearly so shocking, although my little boy is WAAAY easier than my daughter was at the same age, even taking into account the benefit of experience. I love my little girl so much but my goodness she was a handful until about 12 months (mainly because she never slept - I was a wreck!)

TobyLerone · 04/04/2014 02:57

:o humpty, you div!

I second what humpty said about those of you with 2 or more (not counting myself, because mine are old enough to always be helpful, or at least to sort themselves out so I don't need to do anything for them).
I know I did it, and I know it must have been hard (my big 2 are 18 months apart), but I cannot remember much about it. Either my brain cells have been killed off by advancing age, or I've blocked it out because it was so hideous.

Either way, you have my full and utmost respect.

Pidgy · 04/04/2014 05:24

Good to hear you've come out the other side toby!

fly hope she's ok. What a nasty shock.

million glad you saw a nice HV and really hoping the appointment comes through quickly. I really like the asda stir frys too. Think we've had that one before. So quick to cook and much healthier than a takeaway.

DS is staying with my parents for 2 nights so we can have a bit of a break. The house was so quiet once he'd gone I really missed him! Means I can have a bit of a lie in.

If only she would sleep! She did a long stretch in her cot from 8-1 which was great but has been up again at. 2, 3.40, 5 and probably again before I have to get up. Can't help but compare her to DS who was waking once only by this age.
Think I'm getting a bit obsessed with sleep too and keep trying to calculate how much sleep I'm getting which makes it hard to drop off when she is asleep. Sad.

Rant over!
I'm taking Lara back to the doctor as I'm starting to think her eczema could be caused by the oilatum we're using. It's far worse when I use that in the bath and she didn't have it on her legs until I used the cream there. It does say of the label there are 2 ingredients that can cause reactions! There are a couple of threads on here too with similar stories. Think I will try Aveeno.
Has anyone used that before (on themselves or children).

flyawayblue · 04/04/2014 07:03

Thanks all, it was very scary more so afterwards as we purely focused on her during and I had a breakdown on dh yesterday morning and made him stay home from work.

I'm hoping she will grow out of it but at the moment the doctors don't want to do anything, gp was confused why we were there! Umm maybe to get her on the system and ask if there is anything we should be doing as it was a major reaction. Think the poor guy was scared of the consultant peeds we'd already talked to overnight...

Talking to a consultant allergy specialist in may and then maybe a dietitian before / when we ween her. Explains so much and I feel horrible that I've been hurting her without knowing it, really kicked my confidence for looking after her.

Oh we've had poosplosions here too, one last night got dh Wink

mrsv missed a few pages but can't remember if I said I am going to the other lunch next Friday. Will be lovely to meet you and really looking forward to the food. Koffmans was brilliant this week and it was nice to be out with so many other mums and babies, have only done gbk / pubs / coffee shops ourselves.

flyawayblue · 04/04/2014 07:07

Knew I forgot something! pidgy dh has excema as does Alice and he was very reluctant to use oilatum in her bath as greesy things make his excema worse. I think it's trial and error sadly working out what works for them. I know people that swear by the aveno range so that would / will be my next try. Good luck and maybe talk to your gp / hv I'd they are good.

TobyLerone · 04/04/2014 08:04

I have eczema and use Aveeno, pidgy.

DS had dreadful eczema when he was a toddler. We tried everything. Eventually, as a last resort, we took him to a Chinese medicine place. It's all a bit woo for me, but we were desperate. His eczema was 80% better after 2 days of using the stuff they gave him, and it never really came back.

I have no idea what was in the stuff they gave him, and it could have been coincidental, of course. But I didn't care! His pillow/sheets weren't covered in blood every morning any more.

Oats in a muslin in the bath is supposed to help, but I guess you know/have tried that already :)

Pidgy · 04/04/2014 08:35

Thanks for the Aveeno feedback. Going to get some today.

toby, I hadn't heard about the oats! Special oats or porridge oats?! (Not sure what special oats are so would need instructions where to get them !) thanks for the tip.

DS had mild eczema but oilatum sorted it. Seems to do the opposite for Lara!

TobyLerone · 04/04/2014 08:41

Normal oats, tie them up in a muslin and use it like a teabag in the bath. The more you squeeze it, the more 'milk' will come out. Some people find it very soothing for eczema.

Don't forget to rinse and wash the muslin straightaway or it'll set like concrete and you'll have to chuck it!
