Meredith is 12 weeks old today too, million. It's terrifying how fast it goes :(

Pidgy · 02/04/2014 07:15

Good luck with the jabs million. Enjoy the cinema. I love going but can't remember the last time. When I'm less tied to Lara with the feeding I'm going to arrange to go too.

toby I know it will get better, I'm just impatient!! It could be a while as my mum not so kindly keeps reminding me that I was a terrible sleeper until I was 3. Eek! Hope she got some sleep genes from her daddy!

pumpkinsweetie · 02/04/2014 07:49

It has definitely gone fast, baby pumpkin was 12 weeks yesterday tooSad

I love seeing her grow just wish the weeks would slow down lol.

M & P are doing a wonderful sale on baby clothes at the moment. Bought baby pumpkin lots of bits to add to her 3-6 month wardrobe when she is ready to fit into themSmile

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 09:07

Pumpkin thanks for the tip! I'm seeing my 3 week old nephew for the first time at the weekend and need to buy him a gift so will look at mamas and papas for clothes. He's 13lb already and is fitting in to 3-6 months clothes ShockShockShock

Angelesque · 02/04/2014 09:20

Pidgy million re: cinema - have you got any cinemas nearby that do screenings you can take babies to? Here in Manchester the cinema at the Trafford Centre does them every Tuesday am. They leave the lights on low and turn the sound down a bit...

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 09:33

They do it at Everyman cinema if anyone is close to one! £10 for a comfy sofa, drink, slice of cake and a film Grin

Swannykazoo · 02/04/2014 09:54

Hurray - sorry for all the taxi-related flapping from me yesterday. Walked into town with car seat and travel system, had dinner with my friends with little puggle being cute and non-screamy, even had another wine at their house and got a lift home as one of them is off the booze(car seat fitted easily phew). It was like being a proper grown-up rather than a mummy iykwim
Boo to all the non-sleepers. We'd a better night but I'm not counting my chickens yet

AMillionNameChangesLater · 02/04/2014 10:13

I'm in Bolton and don't think there's one nearby, but the Trafford centre isn't that far away, just a 20 mins bus ride. So i might look into it! Thanks!

have you been?

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 10:17

Puggle glad you had a good day!

Million sorry I always think everyone else is down south for some reason Blush we have the only Everyman in the north in Leeds! Think all the rest are in London.

Naturegirl82 · 02/04/2014 11:48

I've just been reading the information leaflet for O's antibiotics and they say they must not be given to children under 4 months old The consultant at the hospital asked my gp to prescribe them. Do you think I should phone my gp's just to check it's ok?

TarkaTheOtter · 02/04/2014 12:42

What type is it Nature? Sometimes it's just a case that the company hasn't paid for testing but they are widely used anyway so known to be safe. Alex just finished a course of amoxicillin. Did give him an upset stomach though.

Naturegirl82 · 02/04/2014 12:44

It's trimethoprim she is on less than half the dose of a 4 month old.

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 13:07

Nature if it's half a dose and the consultant asked to prescribe them then I'm sure it will be fine. Give your GP a quick ring to check even if it's just to put your mind at rest Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 02/04/2014 13:18

I agree with Felix. Also, the pharmacist will have checked it too.

enormouse · 02/04/2014 14:00

There's an everyman in Liverpool. I've always wanted to go to one. Do they bring you whatever food you want felix?

Odeon newbies is fantastic. Dp wants to take both boys to see captain America 2. It's kind of his and DS1s thing, they've seen skyfall, spiderman, the avengers and loads of other marvel films together, I.e. things I don't want to watch. I actually prefer newbies to other screenings, cheaper and a load of babies/toddlers are a heck of a lot less annoying than most adults.

Please let me know what captain america like million. Hope you enjoy your break.

puggle sounds like a great day.

On a related note to the antibiotics, can you give calpol to an under 3 month old?

Argh just spent the morning on the phone to powerni. I moved my direct debit last month and they billed me on the original date instead of the new one. And as it didn't go through they cancelled my debit and closed my online acount with them. I've just spent ages getting them to reinstate it.
Whilst I was doing this, DS1 rearranged my cutlery drawer. I love toddlers and large faceless organisations.

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 14:34

Enormouse you get a hot drink and slice of cake included in the £10, and you can order other drinks/food to be delivered to you in your seat Grin ours does pizza which is meant to be very good, I haven't had a chance to try it yet!

Naturegirl82 · 02/04/2014 15:28

enormouse our calpol says 2+ months as can be used after immunisations, but the lady in the pharmacy almost refused to sell it to me until she rechecked the packet.

Thanks for the advice about the antibiotics. I'm sure it's fine having checked the dosage, just panicked when I read that!

enormouse · 02/04/2014 16:25

Thanks nature. I have calprofen but that says 3 months plus, was thinking of going out for calpol but Cal seems better today than he was yesterday.

Did anyone else's lo get an upset stomach from the rotavirus vaccine? Cals been very gassy and has done a few large and stinky poos.

felix that sounds awesome, I'm so jealous. There's one in London where you can have cocktails brought over to you. I'm off to doublecheck whether there's an everyman in NI. Smile

FelixFelix · 02/04/2014 16:29

Sylvie didn't get an upset stomach but the nurse did say to expect it as it's a very common side affect

AMillionNameChangesLater · 02/04/2014 17:40

Henry's jabs went well.

i normally love comic book movies. But i wasn't impressed with Cpt America 2. They tried to be too arty with the action shots, there was a lot of shaking camera etc which gave me a headache

MrsVDB · 02/04/2014 18:02

Henry is now 8 weeks and is getting very clingy and crying whenever I leave the room. Google tells me it may be a wonder week leap, can anyone with the app fill me in please?

BookTart · 02/04/2014 18:17

It sounds about right mrsv

Signs
Your baby wants to be entertained more often;
It will take a little longer before he is at ease with other people, especially those he does not see every day;
He wants to be breastfed all day long, but doesn't really drink;
He is craving for more physical contact;
He cries more and more easily
Abilities
After having gone through this leap, your baby is able to perceive 'patterns', not only visually, but with all his senses. For example, your baby can feel patterns in his body with the help of muscle spindles, tendon receptors and joint-receptors that enables him to perceive and control body-position.

The fact that your baby can perceive patterns now makes it possible for him to understand and do new things. But, of course: a baby never does all of them at once. From the whole list of potential new skills, he chooses to do the new things that attract him most.

Examples of what your baby might do after making this leap

Is able to hold his head up much better;
Clearly turns his head towards sounds;
Likes to shift weight forward while sitting on your lap;
Flaps his hands against a toy (forerunner of "grasping");
Feels toys without trying to grasp them;
"Discovers" and observes parts of his body;
Looks at patterns, such as abstract paintings or a flickering candle;
Makes short, "explosive" sounds (effort grunts) with his voice with the help of glottal stops.

BookTart · 02/04/2014 20:26

I'm sorry, I can't share this in real life so I'm going to share it with you because I am traumatised! Persephone just shat, mid nappy change. It shot out of her, over the changing mat, up my thigh and splattered on my face and shirt. The sofa copped it as well. I'm fresh out of the emergency bath, and my entire outfit is in the machine. She was totally unscathed.

Send gin.

beccajoh · 02/04/2014 21:13

Hello ladies I'm new to Mumsnet but been registered for a while, and have a 10 week old baby boy. I also have a 21 month old little girl who is, erm, a handful! I'm a slightly bored SAHM in Surrey. I used to work in Central London (scientific research) but the cost of childcare has forced me to stay at home. It gets me down a bit sometimes but my life could be a lot worse. I do feel a bit like a clich? sometimes. My little boy is turning out to be an easy peasy baby, which is a nice change for me as DD was FAR from easy. He's got silent reflux, which has been a bit tricky, but it's under control now with ranitidine.

booktart I remember my daughter crapping everywhere like that! except it was over DH and I fell round the bedroom laughing and nearly burst my csection stitches Grin

TobyLerone · 02/04/2014 21:16

:o :o that's hilarious, book! It always happens to you!
