Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Hopefully it's just a growth spurt puggle!

Alex's sleep still so crap that I'm not sure I'd notice. He seems to know bedtime and will sometimes do a 4hr stretch from 8pm but is equally likely to wake several times before we go to bed.... An then every 2hrs max through the night. It's grim!

chocoholicalcoholic · 01/04/2014 10:38

Hi everyone, I do keep meaning to stay up to date with you all and join in with the chat but life is so busy now! Hope every one is doing alright? May I ask you all a question as to whether any of you have had this happen...? I've had slightly swollen hands, forearms and feet since the birth (never before) and it is still an issue. Can't wear my watch, rings are not loose like before etc.. Yesterday I noticed my ankle bone area was slightly puffy and had been niggling all day but thought it was something in my sock aggravating it although couldn't see anything. Felt like it was under my skin rather than on it if that makes sense. The veins look more pronounced than the other foot. I havent hurt it or knocked it or anything. Also noticed that my lips are tingling, not in a ''oh my god I'm panicking' way just a subtle tingling. It seems to intensify if I sit back or lie down. Anyone have anything similar?? feels stupid hope you don't mind me asking you all. Third baby and she's 12 weeks if that helps. I know you're not doctors but fellow new mums may have had similar weirdness...

enormouse · 01/04/2014 11:23

Just gotten back from getting Cals 8 week jabs and gp check done. He was very brave and was cooing and smiling at the nurses afterwards. Now passed out in the carrycot.

Hi choco. I don't have that but it sounds tough. Maybe someone will be able to help.

Boo to sleep regression.

FelixFelix · 01/04/2014 12:46

Choco sorry not experienced that! I'd definitely get checked out at the doctors though. It sounds like something to do with your circulation maybe? Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

MrsVDB · 01/04/2014 14:12

I was going to say circulation too , or blood pressure. I'd go to docs just to be sure

FelixFelix · 01/04/2014 15:02

Just had Sylvie weighed and she's now 14lb 5oz Shock and she pissed all over the weighing scales (again!)

Swannykazoo · 01/04/2014 15:09

Boo indeed. Does anyone know about getting a taxi with a baby? are they ok in their pram in a black taxi? I've agreed to meet someone from work for a drink and I feel a sense of impending doom. Considering just taking the car to make life simple. Should probably not try anything like this until little puggle has his L plates on sigh....

FelixFelix · 01/04/2014 15:14

Puggle I think in the pram in a black cab is fine. I'm sure legally you're allowed to hold them in your arms in a taxi if there's no car seat available, but don't quote me on that!

MrsVDB · 01/04/2014 16:05

Yeah felix is right puggle

Swannykazoo · 01/04/2014 16:37

Aaargh just realised we don't have black cabs in the area. Taxi company agree with you two - babies are exempt! Am feeling very PFB so thinking I'll walk into town with travel system so we have the option of car seat in taxi home - that is if little puggle doesn't scream the place down as we arrive...

enormouse · 01/04/2014 18:12

felix is right puggle. I've travelled in a cab (licensed but not a black cab) without a carseat with Cal. I felt awful about doing it so I've never done it again. I've always done the travel system up with the carseat since if I'm taking a cab. Then I feel guilty about him not lying flat. Can't win either way. Hmm

Today has been relentless, Cals been so clingy and won't be put down since his jabs this morning and DS1 has been hanging off me and generally being a toddling nuisance. Need to do his bath and bedtime now. I hope it gets easier with the pair of them soon.

Pidgy · 01/04/2014 18:37

million did you get him to drink any more milk? Really hope things improve for you soon. What are the next steps?

We didn't have the best night. Down at 7ish, feed at 9.30, 2 and then up twice more before 4 when she came in with us. She seems to have a constant cold and cough, like DS.
Anyone else with toddlers also have the same issue? I wash my hands and DS's hands a lot but she keeps getting them. :-(

AMillionNameChangesLater · 01/04/2014 19:39

pidgy we have the same issue. I'm constantly fishing bogies outta Henry's nose with a cotton bud. Disgusting but satisfying.

Today he had 9.5ozs at lunch and wasn't sick! However he's had 17oz total today which isn't ideal. Still waiting to hear from the paediatrician

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/04/2014 20:06

puggle some cab firms have car seats. Worth googling!

enormouse I doff my hat to you. How you (and others) do it with a toddler too, I simply don't know. A has been vile today; screamed so much I thought she'd pass out a couple of times. Napped 3 x 40 mins all day, just drove her around for an hour. She dropped off, I gave it fifteen mins, brought her in: instantly awake and furious.

million is lunchtime usually a big feed? Can you increase the amount then to bulk out the day overall? Probably a stupid suggestion, sorry, my mind is glazed over.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 01/04/2014 20:10

humpty he doesn't have a routine of a large feed. Some mornings, after 12 hours sleep, he has 7ozs, others 14 hours after his last feed he will only take 1. He just isn't interested. We've tried everything, different milk, bigger teats, offering it to him every hour, or every two, or after four hoping if he had a while between eating he would go for it, but it's all to no avail. Ds1 had reflux, so i was prepared for sick, but I've not come across another child like Henry. Sadly, the hcps say the same. Which isn't as reassuring as you'd think. Everyone wants to hear their child is unique and special, I'd settle for bloody normal! :)

MrsVDB · 01/04/2014 21:35

million when I was little I was very little and wasn't interested in food too. Looking through my red book I was only 13lb at 5 months, Henry was that at 6 weeks. I'm now 5ft 2 and was average weight as a child from about 8 ish now a heffer so I'd try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done. I assume you've tried waking him in night for a feed?

FelixFelix · 01/04/2014 21:48

You know when you've got the next size up clothes out, have any of you bothered washing them? DP is adamant he's going to wash all of the (millions) of 3-6 month babygrows and vests before Sylvie can wear them. I've been waiting for him to do this since the weekend and it's starting to fuck me off big time as I'm still having to squeeze her in the 0-3 ones. My mum said not to bother washing them as it's just creating an extra job for myself. Should I do it or not? I washed all her other new stuff previously.

Naturegirl82 · 01/04/2014 22:00

felix I think it is a personal choice really. I've washed all of O's things new and hand-me downs.

Was really lucky today. Dh came home with a mamas and papas vibrating bouncer chair this evening quite by chance given to us by his colleague. She loved it which means I don't need to bother buying a swing/rocker now. Result Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 01/04/2014 22:08

felix I didn't with dd but I do now with Alex's stuff as he seems to have quite sensitive skin with a few eczema type patches. I'd probably try one and see how it goes if her skin is generally goodl

FelixFelix · 01/04/2014 22:19

Nature that's a great coincidence Grin

Tarka I was just thinking her skin doesn't seem to be particularly sensitive so I think it would be ok. I only washed her vests and babygrows before but didn't wash all her other clothes and she's been fine.

enormouse · 02/04/2014 00:17

tarka do you use oilatum? That's been fantastic for DS1 and in very very dilute quantities for Cal.

nature that's great.

million you're doing great. He will eat what he will eat and take what he needs from it.

Currently awake as I am surrounded by snoring. Cal was tetchy and won't go in the crib so he's sleeping next to me and snoring (very cute, but still snoring). Dp is on my other side making warthog noises. Sleeping on the sofa or floor isn't an option as my back is bad and sleeping with DS1 is impossible as he ferrets about in bed. Last time I shared a bed with him he kicked me in the face. He generally ends up asleep upside down.

I am so tempted to leave home and find a hotel. Cal is the noisiest sleeping baby I have ever heard. He farts, snores, snuffles and babbles to himself all night long.

TobyLerone · 02/04/2014 05:14

I wash all new clothes for the whole family before we wear them. I hate the thought of them having been handled by so many people, probably dragged all over the floor, often treated with a chemical to make them look nice in the packet... and I hate the feel and smell of new clothes.
If you'd ever been in the stockroom of a clothes shop, you'd wash everything!

I do the same with bedding, towels, curtains, teatowels, underwear etc.

I'm fully prepared to admit I'm weird about this, though :o Everyone else thinks so, especially with non-baby clothes. But I love doing laundry, so it's not really a chore for me. And I don't judge anyone who chooses not to wash new stuff :)

Result, nature!

I'm awake too, mouse. Meredith went 10pm - 4.15am, then woke for a feed and went back to bed. Now I'm wide awake Hmm

Pidgy · 02/04/2014 06:31

I wash all if Lara's clothes as they've all been in the loft as we've been lucky and had a lot given to us. I also wash any new things for her and DS as a lot of the materials are sprayed with anti fungals and insect repellants as they are stored in tropical/hot regions (ie. India, SE Asia and China where most clothes are made).

Our nights are getting worse. Just don't know what to do. She woke at 9 and cried manically for 90 minutes as she was so tired. Then she woke every 2-3 hours. Plus DS was up 3 or 4 times with a temperature. Cue stripping him, trying to get some calpol and water into him. So tired. :-(
Poor DH must be knackered too as he helps out on nights like that.

We had a few good nights but now they are back shit again.
Tell me it will get better!

TobyLerone · 02/04/2014 06:38

Oh, pidgy, that sounds awful :(

You know it'll get better, but it feels like it won't.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 02/04/2014 06:43

Ouch pidgy, it will get better!

I'm taking ds1 to nursery in an hour, then I'll be home by 8:30. I can finished getting dressed properly and then I'm taking a 12 week old (today!) Henry to get his 8 week jabs. Then going to see Cpt America 2 while mil looks after the kids. I don't want to leave Henry, but dh, however lovely he is, tells me i have to. Mil is looking after H at our house. Which is nice as we live 5 mins from the movies, but bad as she snoops.
