Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Nope it's a silly tiny head hole with one popper to apparently make the hole about 1mm bigger. It's not too bad, I'm sure she will live Grin

Oh no pumpkin Sad have you got any calpol in?

Pidgy · 26/03/2014 20:37

I'm in the process of reading 'potty training for boys'. At this rate I should have finished it sometime in 2015.
I'm planning on doing it in the summer once he's two. He does tell me when he's done or about to do a poo which I think is a good sign. All tips gratefully received!!

I'm off to bed. Lara is sucking her thumb! Cute! Hopefully means I can do away with the dummy. Can't lose a thumb in the middle of the night. :-)

fryingpantoface · 26/03/2014 20:42

I have no idea pidgy it isn't gonna be fun, ds1 claims he hasn't pooed when he blatantly has

enormouse · 26/03/2014 21:17

I've downloaded GFs potty training in a week. Much as I find her a bit strict, the basics seem to be quite good. Some things I had never considered - like wrapping a cushion in a plastic bag for them to sit on and carrying it with you.

Pidgy and frying, feeling solidarity with you. DS1 waits till he's in his grandparents kitchen to fill his nappy. I'm tempted to leave him there and pick him up when he's fully potty trained.

fryingpantoface · 26/03/2014 21:20

I downloaded the book too! He's just not ready for it yet, I don't think.

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2014 21:46

I think I had that book with pfb, is that the "potty train in 1 week" one? If so some brilliant tips in there. May buy or download it, I defo need a book with my threenager lol!

Baby pumpkin has settled somewhat but still not herself, for some reason extra hungry too! After draining her entire bottle she is eating her hands like she is going to eat herselfGrin She hasn't long had a feed, and don't wanna over fill her little tum and she very rarely takes dummies.
I guess hands are better

FelixFelix · 26/03/2014 22:19

The vest departed with no crying! Hallelujah!

TarkaTheOtter · 26/03/2014 22:33

I'm also planning on potty training dd this summer when she will be 2.5. No signs of readiness yet though. She weed everywhere after bath time today and seemed completely unaware she'd done it. We've tried to encourage her to sit on the potty but she's worked out we really want her to do it do it so is, of course, refusing.

TarkaTheOtter · 26/03/2014 22:35

Alex has his second set of vaccines tomorrow but is finishing off a course of antibiotics for a chest infection. I wonder if they'll do them or not? He's no longer ill but should be on the abx till Friday to finish the course.

FelixFelix · 27/03/2014 07:17

Tarka I'd probably ring and check if they will still do them.

fryingpantoface · 27/03/2014 11:29

Just seen the nurse. Since getting my implant put in on 18 Feb, I've had 10 days of no bleeding. That's it. Use of tampons, pads etc has meant i have thrush and I'm miserable. They won't give me the pill as its still early days. If I'm still bleeding in 7 weeks then they'll give me the pill. I just have to grin and bear it. I've had sex once since it was put in and I'm not happy. Just bought the next sized mooncup to give that a go as apparently the thrush will be reoccur until the bleeding stops.

also, hv talked to me about Henry and said he's failing to thrive and i have to go in this pm to discuss it. Not a great day so far

FelixFelix · 27/03/2014 11:39

Frying that's rubbish Sad sorry you're having such a crap day. I'm still undecided between the implant and coil. I can't believe they are going to leave you another 7 weeks?! Confused

alteredimages · 27/03/2014 11:41

frying that really sucks about the bleeding and the thrush. Hugs. With regards to Henry, do you agree with the hv? As book has discovered, some of them are just nuts.

TobyLerone · 27/03/2014 11:59

frying, what a day! I hope it gets better. Also, what altered said. What do you think about how Henry is doing?

alteredimages · 27/03/2014 12:01

I am lucky we don't have hv here because I had a proper meltdown today triggered by, of all things, a pan of spilt milk. Couldn't be more cliché if I tried. Between money, family visiting, medical insurance due to expire, helping to organise DH's viva and celebrations which I don't think I can attend and not enough sleep it all got too much. I even knocked N's bouncy chair by accident Sad. Also tore the buttonholes on the only presentable top I had left, which is a pain. Bleachstained clothing it is! On the plus side, I feel much better and DH finally got the message.

I have since had a nice walk and bought smoked salmon, blinis and badoit menthe to steel myself for the perineal reeducation I have in an hour. Last week, as mythree pointed out a few threads back, the midwife did just stick her fingers up my vag while I clenched. Not as traumatic as I feared but my muscles scored 5.5 out of 10, so we are going electric. Had the joy of a long public conversation about vaginal probes at the chemists. All fun here.

fryingpantoface · 27/03/2014 12:06

Thanks, to be clear, every other time with the implant I've been great, it's just this time.

I'm not sure. I don't have the best track record in these things. I think he's fine, until everyone tells me he isn't. He just will not eat at night. Last night he went down at 6.30, and woke at 4.40 and as soon as i picked him up he snuggled in and went to sleep. He demands food every 3.5-4 hours (7-8ozs) during the day, but always wants to sleep between 6-7.30 depending on when he woke from his last nap.

he's so little. 9lb 10ozs. Still in up to 1 month clothes. Everyone thinks he's a newborn. I'm so upset, although everyone has been lovely and hcps aren't judging me, i feel like they all think I'm a crap mom and that's making me feel worse.

in all honesty, and I'm really not in a mental place for a flaming, I'm debating trying him with baby rice. But he's only 11 weeks. But if he doesn't put on more weight, or if he loses some, they'll hospitalise him. But he's so little. So I'm unsure what to do, i cant force feed him, he just sicks it up if he does swallow anything, more often than not he pools it in his mouth before letting it dribble out. I'd be lying if i said i wasn't in tears over this.

TobyLerone · 27/03/2014 12:18

How's his length, frying? Sorry if you've already said. Perhaps he's just little? Meredith is 11 weeks and not much bigger, tbh.

TobyLerone · 27/03/2014 12:21

And nobody thinks you're a crap mum. Of course you aren't! It's hard, isn't it?

I don't think you'll find any HCPs advocating weaning this early, though.

FelixFelix · 27/03/2014 12:25

Oh frying how awful for you Sad you're right, you can't force him to eat! Who are you going to see this afternoon about it? Do you think they will give you some suggestions or advice re baby rice? Sorry I don't really have much advice but I hope things will improve for you soon.

FelixFelix · 27/03/2014 12:31

Altered sounds like you've got a lot on at the moment. I'm not surprised you're feeling down Shock is there anything your visiting family can give you a hand with? Even if it's just taking over for a couple of hours so you can catch up on sleep?

alteredimages · 27/03/2014 12:37

frying we definitely don't think you are a crap mum and although when you're down it is easy to think others look upon you badly, I am sure they don't. Crap mums don't care and you most definitely do.

Doubting yourself is the worst, isn't it? I felt like that when struggling to establish bfing and with N's jaundice. Really, you are doing a great job.

Hopefully the hcps will have some ideas to help, but like toby wouldn't recommend baby rice because if he choked he wouldn't be able to clear his airways. I know when DD was a bit older and not putting on weight they gave me special high energy formula. Maybe they will offer you something similar? Just remember, you are a great mum and henry is with the best person for him, you. Smile

alteredimages · 27/03/2014 12:38

Thanks felix! Sadly, I don't think so but I will be fine once the week is over. Smile

fryingpantoface · 27/03/2014 12:44

I know Toby i think it was the desperation talking. He isn't ready so I wont. I was scrambling for an answer.

dh just met me for a coffee and got Henry to drink 3ozs which he didn't want, so threw it all up. I'm going to see what the hv says and take it from there.

oh, and he's 56cm, so not tall either, on the 9th centile for height

TarkaTheOtter · 27/03/2014 12:50

frying Brew you can't make him eat if he doesn't want to.

I know a lovely petite toddler who is perfectly healthy. I remember her mum worrying because she just wasn't that interested in milk when she was little and now at 2 she still has a smallish appetite but she's like a Tasmanian devil so clearly just eats what she needs.

FelixFelix · 27/03/2014 12:55

I hate that there's so many Mums who have the fear put in to them from these stupid charts the HV/GP have to follow. Not everyone is the same and they can't possibly believe that all babies will follow the same growth pattern Sad it's unfair. I hope this afternoon goes well for you.
