Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

I just read back. Clearly I didn't read properly. You said nothing of the sort! :o

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 25/03/2014 22:45

Heh, I'm glad you cba to read back, I can't remember what I put now! It was my DM who put the idea in my head, and it's kind of fair enough as the place my grandma is has had numerous WVV, MRSA and other drug-resistant infections break out. I think I'll just check on the day, and not fret.

Pidgy · 26/03/2014 06:46

That sounds tough altered - is there no one else her could stay with? Sounds like you're doing a great job...who cares if she's worn the dress to bed. Bet she loves it!! You do what you have to do which is why DS still has his 'dodo' (dummy), watches lots (and I mean lots) of peppa pig (especially when earring) and why Lara ends up in bed with us most nights. All things I said I'd never do, but now do.

Agree with comments above about the charts. I think they can be very deceiving. At any age growth is surely not liner!

Have a good day everyone and sorry I've missed lots of people. One handed typing on my phone!

FelixFelix · 26/03/2014 08:06

So not only did we have Sylvie sitting up unaided yesterday, she also half turned over! I put her on DP's side of the bed tucked in for him to discover as he came up a few minutes after me because I thought it was funny (totally sad) and she was so determined to eat his pillow that she turned herself right over on to her side Grin if her arm wasn't stuck underneath her she would have turned over. IN YOUR FACE NCT CLASS WITH GENIUS BABIES!!!

alteredimages · 26/03/2014 09:38

Haha, great news felix! I hope you are as unbearably smug to all the NCT class people as they doubtless were to you. Having babies really shouldn't be a competitive sport, but I can't resist winding up smug people.

Speaking of being smug, I have decided the way through is retail therapy so I have ordered the new ergobaby performance ventus with 20% off. It is lucky only N and I are home because I have a massive chuffer grin on and would automatically elicit a slap from anyone in my immediate vicinity. Grin I can't find any reviews for it yet so I hope it is good, but it seems much better ventilated than other carriers and I am sure must be easier on the back than my babybjorn. DH told me to "do what I want" so I am interpreting this as approval of my purchases.

Thanks everyone for cheering me up yesterday. You all helped. pidgy DD loves peppa pig too, which I find hilarious because we are muslims and she really really likes pigs. DH is not quite so amused. Confused

fryingpantoface · 26/03/2014 10:23

Yet sylive! definitely be smug felix!

I'm feeling smug today, Henry slept in his cot from 6.45pm last night until 4.40 this morning. He woke for his dummy, that was it. It was lovely.

ds1 is at nursery today until 1, so I've watched mad men and I'm going to have a shower

FelixFelix · 26/03/2014 10:29

Altered I wish we had got the performance one now as DP is constantly boiling hot no matter what (he's the type of annoying man who tries to wear shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of winter) and he gets too hot with the normal ergo. Also Grin at your dd loving peppa pig!!

Frying that is ace. I bet you feel brilliant this morning. Smugness all round!

I'm not feeling as smug now as I've just got Sylvie's head stuck half way in a vest which is evidently far too small. I'd gone too far to take it back off again so not looking forward to trying to remove it tonight Blush

enormouse · 26/03/2014 10:31

felix Go Sylvie!

altered update us on what it's like. Have become a bit of a carrier/slingaphile. Btw I made the mistake of buying some lovely Muslim friends who had a toddler some peppa pig stuff. I didn't realise it was a no go. Blush

Thanks everyone who replied to my pathetic post. You guys are fantastic and your support really does mean a lot. Am nc with my family and MIL though fantastic and wise can be a wee bit judgy at times. So I do appreciate all the advice.

Bit of a chaotic morning chez mouse. Both DS1 and cal peed through their clothes, Cal is between size 2 and 3 and doesn't quite fit either and is leaking through spectacularly and DS1 is just getting too big for nappies and has taken to trying to take it off. So both wet and complaining and nothing dry to wear - eventually got clothes and have put a DVD on for DS1 so I can sit with a cup of tea.

Have ordered potty training stuff for DS1 so that's what I'll be doing at Easter. pumpkin, pidgy, Tobes, altered, anyone with more than one, please help?!? I haven't a clue what to do… MIL thinks straight to toilet is best but I'm wavering.

enormouse · 26/03/2014 10:32

frying sounds like my kinda morning.

Naturegirl82 · 26/03/2014 11:13

Yay to the good sleeping frying and new tricks felix

enormouse glad you are feeling better today. Good luck with the potty training.

Just had hospital call to book me in to see endocrinologist tomorrow morning. Not sure how useful it will be as I don't have my blood tests till Friday morning, but at least I'll be on the consultants list. Then it's O's jabs in the afternoon. Going to make sure I get some calpol in just in case. Do they weigh the babies before jabs for those of you who have had it done? I need to know how much O weighs to calculate her antibiotics dose so was planning to go to hv drop in before appointment.

FelixFelix · 26/03/2014 11:24

Nature, Sylvie wasn't weighed before either of her jabs so you would be best off going to the drop in before just in case.

Naturegirl82 · 26/03/2014 11:35

Thanks Felix that's what I had assumed. Guess I will be spending most of the time in medical buildings tomorrow.

fryingpantoface · 26/03/2014 11:44

Henry's first injections are next week, maybe week after. He'll be 12 weeks old (damn tb jab at 8 weeks) but I've just had an appointment card for his 2nd set come through for 8 April. I cant rebook now , i have to wait until his first jabs are done.

alteredimages · 26/03/2014 11:51

frying sleep is great, isn't it? N is having a good day too, but it isn't enough to encourage me out of my pyjamas!

felix your DP sounds like my brothers! All of us feel the heat too. N managed to develop heat rash in cotton clothing in january, which is why I am so keen on well ventilated carriers. Hope it is good!

enormouse dd has been given peppa pig stuff too but luckily small stuff like tissues and badges. We let her keep the tissues but the badge has been hidden. The real prohibition in islam is eating pork products, but as pigs are regarded as unclean most muslims are grossed out by them. I try to avoid peppa pig just so DD doesn't become any more interested in pigs and have a hard time understanding why her egyptian family aren't loving her pig impressions as much as tadcu does. Of course my welsh family are helping out by teaching her to snort and taking her down to the butchers for pork roast rolls when I am not there.

I am afraid I am no great help on toilet training. I got DD toilet trained when she was at nursery full time so I didn't have to do it. Grin we were staying with MIL and she wasn't keen on having her best rugs ruined. I did find that waiting til the weather was nice and warm and pants with characters on them helped. DD didn't want to pee on cinderella, but she still has accidents in cold weather, even now.

alteredimages · 26/03/2014 12:02

enormouse whether to use a potty of go straight for a child seat on the toilet depends on 1. how big your house is, 2. how many bathrooms you have, 3. how good your child is at holding on and 4. whether your child is easily scared.

I started DD off on the toilet in Egypt because it was a small flat, had more than one toilet and she didn't seem scared of the toilet. When we came to the UK and stayed in a big house the toilet was too far away for her to make it in time and the noisy plumbing convinced her there was a dragon in there. Hmm Once she was confident on the potty we went back to using the toilet fairly quickly.

Swannykazoo · 26/03/2014 13:16

Hey altered I'm also sling crazy, but as Hugh spends all daytime naptime in it I reckon my back is worth it

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2014 14:05

Enormouse I'm afraid I have the same quandary re potty training, although I have trained 3 out of my 5 successfully, they were all around 3-3 1/2 by the time we finally got there! I am actually struggling with dd4 who is 3 1/2 at the moment and she is showing no interest at all and cba lil monkey!

I plan on potty training her with a no pull ups approach in the Easter half term while she is off nursery. If that doesn't work I will get the nurseries help with it as they are quite good at convincing lil ones to use toilet/potty.

Baby pumpkin had her 8 week check and imms 3 weeks late today. She also had the rotovirus thingy, which she mostly spat out. She has a protuding belly button but was told today it is a small hernia which will go by the time she is one.
She hated the imms as much as I expected but seems okay after.

Still haven't had her weighed for ages, as I thought they would be doing that today?

TobyLerone · 26/03/2014 16:52

felix, cut the vest off!

enormouse, I used a potty with both of mine, and just stayed in the house for a week. It was hell, but great when it was done!

Good luck tomorrow, nature & Olivia!

FelixFelix · 26/03/2014 17:05

But it's a pretty polka dot one with a bow on the front Confused she will just have to put up with the temporary face squashing Grin

alteredimages · 26/03/2014 17:08

puggle wish I had started off with a stretchy wrap, maybe the bobawrap, but I found a second hand babybjorn before i knew what I was doing and bought it. N is niw aroundv13lbs so there really isn't any point now. We also have a vintage car boot sale back carrier we used with DD but it was v heavy and DD kept standing up in it and could easily have fallen out.

I was looking at mei tais and ring slings too, but wanted something he could stay in for a few hours if need be, hence the ergo.

I went and bought the rotarix, brought me over the €200 mark today. DH will be delighted!

enormouse · 26/03/2014 17:09

Thanks altered and pumpkin. toby you've inspired me to stick to my resolve of doing it over Easter (while DPs off work). I'm trying to convince DP that since he and DS1 both have penises he should take the brunt of the potty training. It's not really working. Smile

I only have the one bathroom (plus an ensuite attached to the attic bedroom) and the upstairs of the house is carpeted but downstairs is tiled with rugs - so I'm going to go with whichever thing DS prefers, potty/seatwise. The big boys pants and mini toilet seat are ordered, will pick up bribery/reward sweets and a potty tomorrow just in case. And a bottle of scotch. Grin

alteredimages · 26/03/2014 17:14

Oh no felix! If you really don't want to cut it you could just unpick the seam. Smile

fryingpantoface · 26/03/2014 17:19

I have a stretchy wrap, the Kari-Me, i love it. It's good until the child is 14kg I think.

we have to potty train ds1. I asked at nursery if he was looking like he's ready. Apparently not, he's too interested in playing. They said not to stress and were lovely

pumpkinsweetie · 26/03/2014 17:36

It seems baby pumpkin has not liked her jabs to much as she hasn't crying for a good hr now bless her cotton socksSad

MrsVDB · 26/03/2014 17:47

felix can you pull it down over her legs?
