Those who care, do not get cared for.

Very sadly.

:(

I've flicked through today's posts. And one think caught my eye. Focus on the positive of the day.

So my positive for today. I went out with boys alone FH put them in car went to matalan then nxt door to home bargain. Wasn't to bad. A got hungry. Gave him a bottle stood in bathroom section. And H just kept wanting biscuits, which I gave him for an easy quiet life.
Even managed to try a dress on. So quite happy with that. Grin

Are there any mess free snacks suitable for the pushchair?

Evilwater · 09/12/2013 20:58

det I totally agree. When my dad had his heart attack I asked for a week off for when he was allowed home. It was declined.

DD2 was sitting on Js toy bus. He climbed on her and went to gouge out her eyes. She fell backwards off bus and landed on her head with J on top of her. I had told her she could hurt herself falling off the bus. She believes me now.

horseylady · 09/12/2013 21:05

The thing with the nhs is I don't doubt people took the piss. In 8 years I've probably had 8 days sick. Any 6 of this were in my first two years and on two occasions. One was last Friday. But I worked with people who took days off monthly. They altered the policy and suddenly people come into work. So it's a good thing. But now we get one day emergency leave per year. And two days bereavement leave. That's it. Stupid.

Passmethecrisps · 09/12/2013 21:06

Mummies are always right!

I am extremely impressed gt! That honestly sounds like a triumph of a day. I give p oatcakes or plain rice cakes when out.

TheDetective · 09/12/2013 21:07

Raisins are the perfect pushchair snack GT or other dried fruit :) Well done for escaping! I keep thinking back to this time last year - what a nightmare going anywhere was. And you are doing it with 2 babies!!

Can I just say, I am SO sick of Christmas shopping now. I try so hard to get thoughtful gifts, but I'm spending every waking minute or so it seems searching for the perfect present!

I think I am done now. I need to do one final amazon order, and have a few things to return. It's just the food now I think.

And as I keep pointing out, I'm making all this effort, and I'm missing half of the motherfucking day by being in work arghhhhh!!!

Passmethecrisps · 09/12/2013 21:08

You are exactly right horsey in that policy and behaviour are intrinsically linked. I have worked with people who took the piss even with our relaxed policies. When people are inclined then they will. The problem is that the 'human' has been taken out of 'human resources'

BigPigLittlePig · 09/12/2013 21:09

Yep. There are people dh works with who literally take the piss with calling in sick. I had a full on asthma attack on the ward round on Saturday morning, but guzzled a load of ventolin and manned up and snotted over all the patients carried on. Yet if I needed time off for F, no doubt there would be not a lot forthcoming.

TheDetective · 09/12/2013 21:12

Grin VQ lesson learned eh?! Don't mess with your brother. Or buses Grin.

I am over caring what my employers think of me. They make it difficult to swap shifts (it's a long story, too boring to go in to) so if I ever can't go in due to not having childcare and I have offered multiple ways to cover the shift and repay it, and they refuse, then I won't be giving one shiny shit. They make life very hard for us sometimes. I won't be losing a wink of sleep over it.

Same goes for if O is sick, I'll take the time I need whether they sanction it or not. It's up to them if they pay me or not, whatever they want to class the absence as, I don't fecking care! I will be putting my family first, after years of not doing so.

Evilwater · 09/12/2013 21:15

At the end of the day we are just a pay number, with a cost next to it. No matter how hard we work.
Evil

TheDetective · 09/12/2013 21:19

Well said Evil.

I am wondering if we should get this conversation deleted though Grin.

Hmm
BigPigLittlePig · 09/12/2013 21:21

Big brother is watching you!?

Evilwater · 09/12/2013 21:21

Bah, hum bug.
Nite all.

TheDetective · 09/12/2013 21:26

Always Wink

Night Evil sleep well. :)

Clarella · 09/12/2013 21:28

hello dearies!

sorry not to catch up on freds but my you ladies still like yo talk! not hard to find you all Grin !

this time last year it twas the eve of my induction which lo decided he was having none of (memory of midwife poised with pessary in hand peering over glasses at screen saying 'I think you're labouring dear' will stay with me for ever! never mind that lo was not doing great and I had to have the full medical works anyway resulting in spinal block n section hey ho!

I was the last of the November quiche to pop so I just thought I'd swing by and say hi and love to y'all Smile G is doing really well and I'm still bf all night on demand but it works for me and I'm amazed at how well my boobs have adapted to no expressing/ feeding 3 days a week while at work! loving work despite being badly bitten on Friday and loving being a mum Smile

it's been a tough year and at times thought I couldn't do it. (it being dealing with dh!!) have to say the lovely mn helped by reassuring me about many things inc anti ds which have been a god send. I've actually realised dh has had a level of pnd which has been hard as he took a lot of his worries out on me. but we're good and just had a lovely weekend celebrating Gs birthday Smile

love and unmumsnetty hugs xx

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2013 21:32

I work for the Post office, honest Wink

horseylady · 09/12/2013 21:34

Detective. I don't care whether I was paid or not. It would have made zero difference to the situation. The point is, I'm lucky to be in that situation. My child in hospital and I can go unpaid. But some people can't. And I think that's wrong. But there we go!!

Anyway.

I said to dh tonight I need him to make more effort tidying up the house. He wasn't happy!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/12/2013 21:42

In quiche land everything is fair and just.

I will be your deputy pr hope you are feeling ok.

Scary. Are I had to go and pick up the admissions form for pre school today. The whole system here is v weird. There is 1 preschool attached to a school. Or. He could go to preschool at the playgroup? Wtf. Is that really going to prepare him for school? But the play groups ofsted (I know we shouldn't read too much into it but nothing else to go on this evening) is jolly good.

I am snuggled up in bed with Vicks. Need to order one more present for DS1 then I am actually done.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/12/2013 21:43

Oh, and bp no on call in quicheland.

BigPigLittlePig · 09/12/2013 21:45

Smile Shall book ticket to this quicheland of which you speak.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/12/2013 21:50

Agh. I know how my girls feel now. What a relief to start puking after a couple of hours of what feels like really painful acid (I take pills for that!) then so so thirsty. But daren't drink.

Ugh what a bug. Feeling ok now but I've got what, 12 hours before feeling right according to how LO handled it.

Boo fucking hiss.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/12/2013 21:54

Ooh I feel hungry too. Weird. Know I must not eat though. Or drink.

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2013 21:54

Hi Clarella Smile good to see you.

J vommed a bit tonight but fell asleep immediately after. It was all over me, not him.

When DD2 cried, J looked so concerned, put his arm around her, lip quivering, then burst into tears too. Very sweet.

BigPigLittlePig · 09/12/2013 21:58

Oh no PR (((hugs))) hope it passes swiftly xx
