Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

If anyone has tips on picking a NN, please share!

I'm afraid anyone who knows me would recognise me here.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 12/12/2013 00:38

So tonight I've not given his dream feed and am hoping he does his 5 hour stretch from now Hmm
He is struggling to breathe due to snot! Mrshn do you want to come and help?! Grin. Am liberally applying snuffle babe to his clothes but its not making much difference.
Fingers crossed he sleeps. Night all

MrsArthurWellesley · 12/12/2013 01:07

MrsHN trying a new nickname...

I did briefly consider being SnotSuckerGeneral (like witch finder general) but thought better of it!

Ana you have to wrack your brains a bit, its tricky!

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/12/2013 02:13

Thomas did have a posterior tongue tie and had it snipped last night. All went fine, just didn't like seeing his bloody little mouth and the way he holds his breath until purple - worse than the crying. Will go to bf group on Monday to check latch etc now.

rubytwosday · 12/12/2013 05:18

A also has a horrid cold. She is kind of sleeping ( in a rather unsettled way) on my chest so not much sleep for me! Went to Winchester Christmas market today but A vomited all over herself and the pram in M&S. Did a complete clothes change and wipe down in a skanky changing room/ disabled loo then 10 minutes later she did it again! No more clean clothes so we gave up and came home.
MrsAW I think the new name works well - it is similar enough that I'll remember who you are.
Hope the other ill babies feel better soon.

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/12/2013 05:22

Oh dear Ruby. Hope it clears by Christmas (and long before). We have found saline drops help then the bogies can drip/ be sneezed out onto your chest as she lays on you! So many ill little babies at the moment. Sad

MrsArthurWellesley · 12/12/2013 08:25

Ruby I can sympathise - it's the mucous that makes them vomit I think. Quite spectacular at times!

Flyer747 · 12/12/2013 09:15

Oh yes the mucus vomit we've had it on the sofa x 3 and on the bed x 2 this week lots of lovely mucus and milk Grin

Orange pleased you got the tt sorted.
I know the very cry like they stop breathing.

Awful night here absolutely soul destroying and about 3 hrs kip.

Soupqueen · 12/12/2013 09:29

Poor poorly babies!

We had a rough night, G was very unsettled after the immunisation but seems more herself today so counting my blessings. My sister arrives today to meet her favourite (and only!) niece for the first time so that should be fun Grin

littleducks · 12/12/2013 12:37

Hiya everyone.

Just a quick message to say that there is a recall on some Boots baby medicines, including gripe water and cough cold remedies. Not sure if anyone might have bought some? Details in link:

news.sky.com/story/1181341/boots-baby-medicine-pulled-over-plastic-fears

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/12/2013 16:59

Thanks little ducks I have the boots gripe water with that number on the back. Not much left but I won't use the rest and will bring it back to see if they refund and give me a new one.

Thomas has been really sleepy today. Combination of cold, recovery from TT snip and calpol I think. Slept since baby massage finished at 11.30 in car seat then his bed nest (in the day!) with just a couple of times waking up for a feed. Last two hours we both napped with him on my chest and I got half an hour earlier too. Good for me, hoping it is back to normal soon though. When he is awake he shakes his head, pokes his tongue and whimpers which is horrible.

Sephy · 13/12/2013 05:46

Aww poor Thomas. Does the latch feel any better now it's been snipped?

At the bf group today the lactation consultant who last week said no tt, thinks she might have a posterior one from her behaviour eg often she pulls her tongue back to feed instead of sticking it out. She's advised we try cranial osteopathy before considering getting it snipped though, so I'm off there tomorrow. Feels a shame that shr'll have had 9 weeks of learning to feed with a restricted tongue if and when we sort it out- presumably it'll take her a while to learn the new way?

rubytwosday · 13/12/2013 06:20

There are so many babies with tongue tie! I think all the mums who have 1. Had to struggle through feeding because of ties and 2. Watch and hold their babies as its snipped are amazing.

In sleep news, A slept in her Moses basket from 3-6! I don't mind co-sleeping but it is warmer and comfier not having to sleep around her.

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/12/2013 07:29

Thomas is feeding well but very often last night sephy! Getting used to it I think. My nipples aren't hurting which is a good sign.

I was reading about cranial osteopathy in the night. I'm very interested to hear how it goes.
This place is Wandsworth you pay whatever you can afford.

mumingball · 13/12/2013 07:51

checking in! Sammy is 2 months and changing any small food sleep and poo habits he's been having until now Shock Shock

ananikifo · 13/12/2013 08:29

Welcome mumingball!

Orange I'm so glad feeding is getting better.

My brother from Canada visited yesterday, having arranged a stopover from a business trip. J was smily and charming in the airport coffee shop but once we got home spent the whole night cluster feeding and being a general grump. He was smily again this morning before DB went to the airport at 6:30. I feel really bad that he went to the trouble of visiting us and ended up spending the evening with a crying baby.

Slippysnow · 13/12/2013 11:54

That's a shame anna but I bet your brother was pleased to see you both no matter how grumpy the baby !

I'm still here!, unfortunately I went through a phase of falling asleep each time I read the thread during night time feeds so I had to swap it for candy crush for a couple of days.

I've caught up now. I'm sorry to see there are more poorly babies and scary moment for their parents. Sending you all get well soon vibes.

I've had a few bad episodes of baby brain, I sent dp to get c's hip scanned and I told him the wrong time despite getting a confirmation call and everything. Very stupid, luckily we got it rescheduled for Monday.
We have our 6 week check today so it's interesting to hear other peoples experiences.

Does anyone else find milk splattered in random places? Today I found it on my glasses and my iphone...

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/12/2013 12:32

Sorry we've bored you to sleep slippy Wink

Anyone who was worrying about their growth charts, it's worth checking they have been filled in correctly. Thomas appeared to have dropped to 2nd centile for length today which the HV actually said was fine, but looking at it at home she has put the dot in the wrong month and he is actually still on the 25th. His weight gain has slowed the last couple of weeks but I knew it would with the cold and not really feeding for a while after the tt snip. Still put on 10oz this fortnight which is the low end of fine.

Also those with colds, she wasn't surprised about a two week+ cold, suggested saline drops or if not working go to gp to get decongestant if affecting feeding. His occasional diahroea is probably lied to the cold or my antibiotics and HV wasn't concerned if he didn't have a fever.

Haylebop12 · 13/12/2013 14:38

orange my HV either plots on wrong week or just wrong weight. There's a few dots which are a couple hundred grams out which is a lot for a baby!

GTbaby · 14/12/2013 00:09

Extra busy day on FB and not at all chatty here!

Legally it's time you join us over On the dark side. Create a new email address. Give to no one. Make fb account. Sorted.
Is anyone else not on FB group? Seems all the chat has moved.

notsoold · 14/12/2013 04:05

GT I am still here....
Mainly because dh and I share fb account and newd from the group goes on the news feed and I didn't wanted him reading it...:(

Natalieand · 14/12/2013 08:38

The health visitor plotted H's birth weight wrong meaning it looked like he has jumped from 25th to 91st centile but actually he was born on the 75th. Silly ppl

Bronzemoth · 14/12/2013 09:36

First evening away from N but he was with his dad and Auntie. I checked my phone every 20 mins/half hour. Then I texted them to let them know I was on my way back and was he okay only to find out he wasn't feeding and was hysterical. It was a stressful journey home as it was over 4 hours since I left him so I knew he would be mega hungry. I got into a smiling contented baby as 10mins after the text they got him to take the bottle, thank god. He had also had some earlier so it was only about 3 hours that he went without milk (which is why they thought he was happy taking a bottle and didn't worry earlier) and he was asleep for a chunk of that. Poor dh is feeling terrible as I think it got pretty bad but I think he did a great job considering.

Thepurplegiraffe · 14/12/2013 17:42

It does sound like they did do a great job! It must be really hard calming a baby when you don't have the means. I am yet to venture out for my first trip without baby...

Wickedgirl · 14/12/2013 18:33

I have a christmas meal on Friday which will be lovely but will will the first time I've left Amelie for any real amount if time. My dh will have to do bath, feed and bed as my cab will be picking me up just after 7.30 and she goes upstairs for a bath about half an hour after that. She takes bottles of ebm so I know that she should be fine.
