Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 07:52

Legally Thanks poor you, twins and dd.

Sephy fb is very busy, it's sad the thread is so quiet with so many old regulars no longer commenting I miss coming on and seeing lots of funny chat. I guess fb is just easier than typing out an essay on here but still I wish the thread was like the 'Good old days'

pinkbuttons · 10/12/2013 08:24

Also miss the 'good old days' but dont think id ever catch up of it was as busy as it used to be.
what an awful day legally hope the you are all feeling better today x
moon sorry to hear little one still struggling, I really wouldn't worry about making bad habits at this point
Glad things are improving mrsA
we had a good reflux day yesterday. still vomity but no screaming. thought it could be the dairy but assume thats too soon after 3 days? and back ti normal today.

legallyblond · 10/12/2013 09:24

Thanks all! I didn't realise the twins were so bad either but, as babies do, they (H in particular) got worse v quickly, and thankfully in the GP appointment! We went to the GO at 1pm and, from being v smily and happy, albeit with a Nast cough, in the waiting room, H was struggling to breath through coughing firs and his chest was working very very fast and hard. GP called A and E and a paed was waiting for us there with oxygen for him. Sounds scary, but having lived near two very diff hospitals (one London, one the sticks), I have noticed that here in the sticks they react all singing and dancing to ill infants! With DD with nasty chesty breathing issues, we were kept waiting in London, both times until I threatened to take her straight up to paeds icy and lied and said I was a clin neg lawyer! Here, any breathing issue in an infant (twice with DD and now with the twins), you are straight into resuss and on oxygen.... So I wasn't scared by having a child in resuss on oxygen as I know it's just what they do here. We then went to the ward but didn't have to stay overnight because sats were fine and we live nearby..... Huge hugs to all the other sick babies - I know how horrid it is!

legallyblond · 10/12/2013 09:33

Excuse typos! On iPhone with two awkwardly positioned babies on me!

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/12/2013 09:48

Still scary legally but glad you got seen straight away.

Nothing like you ladies I know but Thomas still has his cold, think it has been about two weeks now, and he didn't sleep at all last night except a few disturbed bits of sleep on my chest from 4.30-6. Hate hearing him whimper.
DH thinks I should take him to gp but he is better in the day times and doesn't have a cough or feel feverish. How long do babies colds usually last? Don't think a gp could give anything anyway could they?

Can't face early start for baby stay and play on such little sleep so still in bed having a lazy sleepy feed. Very sore nipples, I think his cold might have affected his latch too maybe.

legallyblond · 10/12/2013 10:01

Orange - poor T! Yes, having a blocked nose had always buggered up feeding / latch (temporarily!) for me. They wriggle about / can't latch on right because they've not got a clear nose... Often the nose is v squashed when they feed, which is no problem when it's clear, but when blocked, they can't get enough air in and so striggle about and lose their latch to take a proper breath. Re the nighttime, (as you know) prop the bed up a LOT but also try a few minutes in a very steamy bathroom before bed....

I agree GP can't do much, but def go to see the dr if:

(a) the cold is badly affecting feeding so that you worry he's not getting enough (I took a four/five month old DD in once for this and got sent to hospital for some hydration, but in fact she managed a good feed while there - the indicator was me being engorged and clearly not drained of milk, and her nappy being not very wet at all..); or

(b) his chest is working v hard - tummy muscles, chest muscles and neck all going "in" a lot and breathing v fast.

Poor babies!!!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/12/2013 10:13

Thanks legally.
Chest seems ok., will keep an eye out for that. He us still eating, but not as much/as strongly. Will express and give him bottle top ups today I think as much less effort. That is if he will let me put him down/not in sling long enough t pump! Still wees and poos - wondering if it's diahorrea actually. Keep leaking out of nappies, very watery last couple if days and not so much of the usual straining noises. Fontanelle is fine though. Will count the wees today.
We have a jug of hot water with some aromatherapy drops by the bed and bed nest tilted so much he sometimes slides down oops!

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 11:45

Orange poor T and hugs for you it's awful seeing your baby poorly.

A still has her cold I think she started with it about 8-9 days ago and her nappies have been a greenish yellow tinge since last week with mucus in them, they are a bit gross looking. She's also so bunged up and chesty. Has vomited up lots of mucus, poor wee soul.
DR told us to give her saline drops which we've been doing. She is 8 weeks today so will invest in some calpol.
Funnily enough she passed her cold onto me and mine has since cleared up but hers is still lingering due to her immature immune system I guess.
I hope T gets better soon. X

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 11:49

Legally no pressure but we'd love you to join fb so we can see the gorgeous twins. You are a font of knowledge and gave offered so much useful advice to so many of us.
In fact GTbaby had a saying for you on a Facebook thread wwld translated to "what would legally do" like I said no pressure though GrinGrin

ananikifo · 10/12/2013 12:17

I hope all the poorly babies feel better. Thanks

We're obviously going through a growth spurt. I'm wondering if he will let me take him off the breast long enough to walk to breastfeeding group! After all the growth and digestive worries I couldn't be happier.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/12/2013 14:03

Hello all, I don't post much anymore as FB is so much easier. Hope everyone is ok though, sorry to hear of the poorly babies. Am currently sat in Costa with a sleeping B and an hour before I collect ds1 from nursery. It's lovely it's as if I have no babies! Not that I don't love them both dearly but sometimes even the most mundane of things become a treat when you can do them without a newborn/ toddler in your arms!

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 14:37

Enjoy your costa trip shooting. I'm going to head there shortly but after a morning of injections baby A is actually asleep in her rocker chair , this NEVER happens.

pinkbuttons · 10/12/2013 15:36

ooh enjoy shooting
sorry to hear about all poorly babies. Islas had a cold for the past couple of weeks too bt thankfully no breathing issues like DS has.
Apologies if this is tmi, I have just had to do a poo(which is still horribly painful) whilst holding reflux baby vertically upright... this is getting ridiculous.
Thankfully DH has been allowed Friday morning off for Islas paeds appt but only after his boss told him that his daughter had reflux until she was 4 and they just had to man up and deal with it... (unhelpful emoticon!)
legally and others how long would you say it takes to start noticing a difference from being dairy free?

roofio87 · 10/12/2013 17:09

legally hope you're all feeling better!! I had a dream last night that I swapped you Hunter for Valentino. it was all fine but then you insisted on swapping back as Hunter and Hugo were different weeks along and you were getting confused about their development!! I don't seem to remember being bothered though haha!! think it came from seeing my gorgeous niece at the weekend and thinking about wanting a little girl!! I wouldn't really swap Hunter though I swear!!!Confused

xuntitledx · 10/12/2013 17:31

Sorry for neglecting the thread - I'm still reading daily, just not posting!

DM is staying with us for a few days and DH and I are off out tonight which I'm anxious about...particularly as LO has been very fussy the last couple of days and clearly suffering from wind despite the gripe water!

I've been expressing like a farmyard cow to make sure there's enough milk and I'm praying she doesn't run out, especially as he likes to cluster feed in the evening!

Sorry to hear about poorly babies (and mums!), hope everyone starts feeling better soon Thanks

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/12/2013 19:40

Good news Ana, did you make it to the group?

Flyer in a way glad it is normal for baby colds to go on this long, but sorry A still has it. They still did the injections anyway then?

How is family legally today?

Didn't go to stay and play but went to friends house for lunch who doesn't mind a sleepy/crying/snuffling baby.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/12/2013 19:44

So DH is out....I have one toddler bathed and in bed and am now sat on the floor with baby in his bouncer typing with one hand and holding his dummy in with the other- rock and roll! A uni friend of mine married the lead singer from a well known band this week at a celeb studded ceremony........we are clearly worlds apart these days!

emmoB13 · 10/12/2013 19:47

Legally sorry its been so tough for you! You really are amazing to be coping with twins never mind ill twins plus a DD. I hope they make a super quick recovery.
I second flyer, i would love you to come over to the FB group. There is a lot more traffic on there and we could all do with your advice :)

Orange if your feeling worried take baby to the doctors. The worse that can happen is they can reassure you you are doing the right things (which i think you are!).

H has developed cradle cap today - noticed just before my mum was taking him off to meet her work friends for half an hour! Looked like bad dandruff. Bought some special shampoo for it though and washed it this evening and it seems to have taken it down. Never even new such a thing existed - the things you learn with babies!

In other news i got my bugaboo cameleon today and trotted around Tesco with it just to try it out ha. I'm in love!

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/12/2013 19:52

Emmo mum HV said to use olive oil on dry skin or cradle cap. Worked on T's scaly forehead.

ananikifo · 10/12/2013 20:05

orange Yes we made it out and I'm glad you did, too. Joshie seems to like the children's centre. He stares at things, people, and other babies and doesn't cry as much as normal. I'm starting to get to know people.

The NCT girls want to do a £80 sensory class, in addition to the £60 baby yoga class. I'm not being funny but all of this is free or just a few pounds at my local children's centre. I've said I won't do either but I'll meet them for coffee afterwards.

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/12/2013 20:36

Good idea Ana

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 21:01

Ana you must have a rich Nct group, do they all live in Alderley Edge or prestbury?! My group luckily do the cheap or free children's centre stuff, good job I'm mega skint Confused i got paid £588 smp this month and have spent it all Shock and don't get paid again until the 20th December, had to ask dp for a top up and feel horrible having to ask for money I've always been able to manage my finances and have been independent on this front. I'm worried who I will go on after 9 months and my smp stood for the last 3 months before I return to work.

Emmo glad you like the bugaboo a good choice.

Yes orange they still did the immunisations with her cold, she's really lethargic though.

Flyer747 · 10/12/2013 21:02

Shooting spill the beans on the celeb Grin

emmoB13 · 10/12/2013 21:15

Yes shooting spill the beans! I tried to do a google of a celeb getting married this week but got no where haha x

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/12/2013 22:05
