Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

Finding the ff feed amount chat fascinating! Al takes anything between 3-8oz in a sitting, is still feeding pretty much every 2hrs and is breast fed too!!
He's rarely sick and is very chilled out and happy at 9 weeks.
But he's below the 25th centile and veering toward the 20th Grin
I guess he just has an amazing metabolic rate - he's certainly my little hot water bottle!
I've learnt to just go with the flow, nod and smile at advice and let Al tell me what he needs. This attitude works about 80% of the time Grin

Sephy, last night I gave C about 20ml ebm with 4 ml gripe water in it from a bottle before each feed. I'm pretty sure it helped as there was not a peep out of him after 10pm feed and 2am feed. Forgot at 5 am and he struggled so think its worth the taking the time. Will try again tonight to see if it was a fluke.
Brought him to his first party last night and he was a charmer!
In other news I have not cried for 2 days! Progress. Maybe drugs are working/ placebo effect kicking in!
Hope all the sick and coldy babies are starting to feel better.

Flyer747 · 08/12/2013 14:30

What meds have they prescribed Ready ? So pleased to hear you are feeling a little better Thanks these newborns come along and turn our lives upside down hey! You are doing a fab job.

Pink sorry to hear about DH and his stresses. I hope at your appointment this week you finally get some answers and a possible solution to Islas reflux, you have my sympathies Thanks hopefully once they have Islas reflux under control this in turn will take off some pressure and stress for you and dh. You are doing amazingly well coping with a refluxy baby and a toddler.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 08/12/2013 15:53

Will put this on fb group as well-has anyone else's lo started sleeping more deeply? N has given us a few frights in recent days, where once he would wriggle or even wake up at the slightest prod he can now sleep through us checking on him and his breathing is so light you can't see his chest moving. I don't mean at night but in the day, yesterday and today he went into a very deep sleep in his car seat and last night when I was holding him up on my shoulder after a feed. Very scary!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/12/2013 18:22

Sorry squirrel haven't noticed that.

DHs aunt, uncle, cousin and grandma visited today with lots of cuddles and new clothes. A few breaks in the grizzling to give them smiles, phew.
Thomas has been asleep in the sling for a couple of hours and have written all my Christmas/thank you cards. Next nap I will have to address them and put stamps on but pleased with progress so far.

Thepurplegiraffe · 08/12/2013 18:38

Orange that is very efficient, it is taking me an age to get through them.
How does everybody get their babies to sleep during the day? C fights it every step of the way and if I do get her to go she is awake again in minutes. Makes for a very overtired antsy baby!

Flyer747 · 08/12/2013 18:45

Giraffe I have to take her out in the buggy or car seat to get a daytime sleep. Saying that some days she's more sleepy than others.

Just had Sunday lunch out (3courses) then as I'd just ordered my pudding dp and I remembered we are supposed to be going to friends house for dinner at 7pm! So now we've got to go and eat another 3 course meal just 2 hours after already eating one! It's doing wonders for the diet.

Readyasilleverbe · 08/12/2013 20:37

Flyer I've been prescribed paroxetine. The doctor said it was safest for bf. x

ananikifo · 08/12/2013 21:38

J has pooed six times in the last two days, after about a week of not pooing. His poo now has these black bits in it, like poppyseeds. Otherwise it's the normal dark yellow bf poo. DH got worried and googled it and apparently it's traces of blood, probably from some kind of irritation of the bowel. An allergy would make sense because it started at the same time as the reflux got worse. I'm going to make an urgent GP appointment tomorrow, but he seems well in himself so I'm trying not to worry too much. He's actually much calmer and happier after passing all that poo. Does anyone have experience with this kind of poo?

Also, how many times can you say poo in one paragraph? I think I just set a record.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/12/2013 21:40

Ana have you had cracked/bleeding nipples? Poo poo poo poo poo.

ananikifo · 08/12/2013 21:41

Also J only naps in the sling, pram, or car seat during the day. Usually the sling because that's what we use around the house.

ready I'm glad you feel better. I hope it continues for you. Smile

ananikifo · 08/12/2013 21:43

orange no trace of blood in my nipples or in my expressed milk, which is why I think the bleed would be in his system. God, that sounds scary. I'm sure he'll be fine overnight but I'll be happy to have a doctor look at him.

pinkbuttons · 08/12/2013 21:44

Thank you for all dairy advice. Going to take your list to tesco tomorrow orange thought there must be some dairy free foods but no time to check everything with a 2 yr old and 8 week old in the trolley.
Also the thought of TTC again at the moment makes me panic a little bit Smile is anyone planning on having 2 close together? a friend of mine found out she was pregnant with DC2 when her first was 10 weeks...
Thankyou flyer really hoping well get more help on Friday and possibly that removing dairy will help. I hope you enjoy your second dinner! Grin
ready am glad your feeling better. You've done so well to get seen and treated so quickly.
Havent noticed I sleeping more deeply here squirrel but o rarely try and wake her. she does sleep through the hoover now though but that may be normal I didnt dare try till this week.

pinkbuttons · 08/12/2013 21:48

sorry cross posted while I was catching up. no experience here ana bit would agree if hes happy in himself I would keep an eye on him and get him a drs appt in the morning. hope your ok.

Bronzemoth · 08/12/2013 23:12

ana hope J is okay and at least it might help I working out the cause of the reflux.

ana pink or anyone else with reflux how are you getting your babies to sleep? Before it got bad I just used to feed him to sleep but that doesn't work anymore! At the moment I'm feeding N then putting him in a sling with a white noise app on then after half an hour and once he seems asleep I'm trying to transfer him to the bed nest. But he keeps waking up 15s later and the. I try the cycle again.

ananikifo · 08/12/2013 23:24

Thanks bronze and pink. Bronze I'm just doing the usual (feed to sleep, let him sleep on me with white noise until floppy and transfer to bednest) but accepting it may take longer if he doesn't feel well. We're lucky all his symptoms are worst in the evening, not the middle of the night.

whistlingdixie · 08/12/2013 23:45

Ana - sounds very worrying , good luck with Doc

Thanks to those with poorly / refluxy babies

Quick question - A has a cold, vomiting and mild temp. Have had a few difficult days & nights (heart breaking to hear him almost choking on snot :// )... I'm coping ok with all that and his cold seems to be getting better but the thing that's worrying me is the sudden and major change in his dirty nappies. We used to get poos about 4-6 times a day. Then all of a sudden he's stopped. In the last week we've had two instances of explosive diarrhoea and lots of wind, no other poos. HV says BF babies can go week to 10 days without pooing and I shouldn't worry but this is not usual for A. Nor is the diarrhoea. Plus he seems more unsettled than usual (although it's hard to tell because he also has a cold)... Anyone with any experience of or advice on this????

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/12/2013 00:51

Dixie if your instincts say not quite right for him then I'd make a dr appointment.

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/12/2013 00:53

Hope the dr is reassuring Ana but sounds like a good idea to check if not blood from you.

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/12/2013 00:53

Hope both ok x

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 09/12/2013 03:26

Whistling how old is he? We had a reduction in poos after the six week growth spurt, he's currently not had one since Wednesday! They're also quite explosive and copious!! I would say he gets more unsettled now when a poo is approaching although it's hard to say as he's a serious Velcro baby anyway. Hope that helps.

Bronzemoth · 09/12/2013 04:07

dixie we had a clear change in poos around 6 weeks to less (twice or sometimes just once a day)0 and also more explosive. A friend of ours thought it was linked to their gut maturing so they can hold poos for longer and get more nutrients out.

legallyblond · 09/12/2013 04:46

Bleurgh. We are not a well house. DD still has a terrible cough and, although no temp, is not herself at all (and her behaviour is terrible as a result - exhausting!). Both twins have the cough and I think it's croup in them. I'm still on anti bs and have a sickness bug or something. Been sick twice and feel rotten... Bf between loo trips. Ugh. Knackered. I hope no random stranger makes the usual "you've got your hands full" crap comment while sticking their head uninvited into the pram "for a look".... I so not have the patience for my usual breezy all in my stride response. I may murdwr them / cry....

pinkbuttons · 09/12/2013 08:07

oh legally you poor thing. is DH around could he not help for the day? or do you have any other support? sending you virtual supportive hugs and he t well vibes to all of you x
dixie we were told to expect a change in poos as digestive system matures but no chabge here yet. if you're worried though I would see GP. I always go with my gut feeling then even if someone tells me im being paranoid I still feel better.
bronze we have major difficulty getting Isla to sleep at the moment. I either have to lift her upright as soon as she falls asleep whilst feeding. or feed with her sort of sat up. I hold her upright on my chest for about 45minutes to an hr after her night feed. 4 o clock feed has been the worst here as holding her up when shes asleep is exhausting. last night she woke up at 5 and I resorted to using the car seat after she fell asleep feeding. I feel bad about it but she slept really well because she was more upright. if she gets bad after the hr or wakes up with reflux straight away I sometimes let her have just a little bit more as in a couple of mouthfuls because it seems to ease it a little bit then cuddle her to sleep. hope some of that helps but am afraid havent cone up with a quick solution yet apart from the car seat which has made me feel a bit more human today.

Sephy · 09/12/2013 08:16

Pink - hope the shopping trip goes / went well. I've been fairy free since Tuesday and no difference yet, but I know that it'd be likely to take a while anyway. Fingers crossed we both get results with this!

Ready - that's great news that the gripe water worked so well, I haven't tried bottle feeding it. Do you hand express the milk to go in before , or do you have it ready before you go to bed? And does LO cry while you prepare it or is it ok?

Ladies who use white noise for sleeping, do you leave it on all night? Does it disturb you/DP?
