Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Betsy is a pup. You'd be v careful. chasing's parents should have known better. Maybe suggest a walk in the park/fields all together so mum and toddler can see what a lovely dog he is? Tire them both out but have a good experience. Would be awful for mum or kid to turn this into a phobia. Labs eh... Can't help themselves

ChasingDaisy · 30/11/2013 20:13

I'm actually getting angry about it now. And I should have stood up to them and told them to put the childrens' needs above the dog. They treat him as their child and are nowhere near as cautious with him around kids as they should be. Oscar saw it happen too and got very upset. I wasn't even with him at the time as I was saying goodbye to another party guest Sad The child seems to be fine now but I know that her mum isn't. It must have been terrifying for her seeing a big lab on top of her child and she couldn't even do anything to help as she was holding O. I hope this has been a wake up call for my parents.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 20:19

You're right to be angry but people get silly about dogs. Were they mortified or did they do the silly dog he's just playing thing? O will have been scared by the kid crying, not the dog, don't worry about that.

However engineering a positive dog experience would help your friend and toddler

ChasingDaisy · 30/11/2013 20:32

They did the whole silly dog shtick. You're right about needing to create a positive experience but the problem is that he is always bouncy and will always jump up. Plus I'm not sure my friend would agree to it. But I will broach it with her tomorrow.

PurplePidjin · 30/11/2013 21:18

PR I'm a wee bit Envy of your childfree days and exciting career. Swings and roundabouts innit?

Chasing i would be fuming. The pug is the size of R when he jumps up, and frightened him when he licked his face that got stopped pdq, yuck i adore my animals but owners have to be responsible. Anything less shows a lack of respect for the animal - R is as likely to annoy or harm our cat/mate's pug as they are to annoy/harm him, as a good parent i take steps to prevent that from happening Angry

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/11/2013 21:18

pidj your day sound great and good for you getting a break you really deserve one.

This week O has started being able to get food into his own mouth with a spoon and started climbing on the sofa and crawling around with glee until he plops off the other end Commonest phrase in our house this week "Oxxxxx what are you DOING?" Mainly uttered by DS1 but in a yw stylee it made me realise how much I say it and how I say it! Hmm

We are off to the Lapland Express tomorrow...Santa on a Steam Train. DS1will love it!

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 21:46

Yeah child free days are great but am on a curfew. 10-12 and 14-18 are my going out hours. Would love a night off and a lie in.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 21:48

My career was lovely until some cow ruined it. And can't start anew until off curfew. When they sack my arse. Which they won't do.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 21:51

Oh and amnot allowed to go to restaurants or bars. Have cheated a tad but have warned social security ahead of time when I did. Not allowed to go away overnight without telling them....

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 21:52

And yes, the ikea meal was major rebellion. Was starving.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 22:05

Whinge whine. Sorry. Yes I get child free days and that is brilliant. Would love to say I miss them but they are so happy I don't. I'm one of those mums who is far better at the small doses. Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 22:06

Still wel jel of a lie in. Not had one for 3years < feels batterings of those with older kids>

ChasingDaisy · 30/11/2013 22:11

PR, I can't cope without my child free 24 hours each week. It keeps me sane. He is happy with his dad which makes it easier.

ValiumQueen · 30/11/2013 22:14

I have 10 days off in a row at Christmas, from Christmas Eve to 2nd Jan inclusive. The Nursery is shut all that time. After today I am considering volunteering to go in Grin And yes, I do work for the bleep bleep bleep. We are not allowed to work Public Holidays.

PR would a kitten be a really bad idea?

ValiumQueen · 30/11/2013 22:15

I have not had a child free 24 hours for 4 years.

ChasingDaisy · 30/11/2013 22:19

I have it really easy VQ. I have no idea how all you super mummies do it. I'm in awe.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 22:22

No, am not getting a kitten. Would love one but with two rough toddlers, not an option.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 22:25

Will get a kitten when either big cat or dog cross the bridge. The girls will be older then. Hopefully.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 22:26

What am I saying? I don't want another pet ever. But realistically will cave when one of my sane ish pets kicks the bucket.

ValiumQueen · 30/11/2013 22:59

Chasing it is all relative. I have a husband to help. It is not a pissing contest Smile

PR big hug xxx

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2013 23:24

You're right. It is not a pissing contest. I didn't mean to make it sound like one.

Some of us would love an hour or a night free, or even a few days, or is that just me? Blush

Others are well jel of the sahms who get so much time with the kids.

I proved myself shite at the full time mum thing. V shite. Judging by how knackered I am with child free days and no actual work I'd be shite at being a full time working mum too. But I think that we all have our doubts whatever the situation, and make do.

And it's hard however we manage because, let's face it , we're trying to bring tiny people into a world full of obstacles, and doing our best to make them into fully functioning beings despite the obstacles. Which is no easy task (look at how our own parents failed and succeeded in varying ways!)

GTbaby · 01/12/2013 00:23

First civilised evening for months.
H and A both went to sleep at 7.30. A woke at 10 for feed then after quite a few failed transfers managed to get him back in cot. He is stiring again now. But my night is over so I don't mind a cuddle lol

LuisGarcia · 01/12/2013 01:35

I have it really easy VQ. I have no idea how all you super mummies do it. I'm in awe.

Um.... you... uh....

I'm speechless.

Look, I don't know how to break this to you, but you are a synonym for supermummy. "Easy" is not what you've had it, it's what I have it.

LuisGarcia · 01/12/2013 01:37

Also, a whole bunch of hugs for all. BPLP, PR, Meals, Evil Detective, and, well, everyone.

A l'il quiche fistbump for you all

Pikz · 01/12/2013 02:57

Coming to join in Luis's fist bump.

Love an hour long screamathon
