Calpol/ibuprofen seem ineffective though.

PurplePidjin · 28/11/2013 17:29
Brew
TheDetective · 28/11/2013 17:31

I am also going to stop the two naps and try one 12-1.30ish.

His afternoon nap is getting later and later.

Last night it was 5.50-6.15 Hmm

TheDetective · 28/11/2013 17:31

Cheers. Much needed. Also, matchsticks. Break out the matchsticks again!

PurplePidjin · 28/11/2013 17:45

R had one mammoth nap 11-2 but was screamingly over tired by 4. If nap #2 is so late anyway could you try bed at 6/6:30? R actually sleeps better on an early bedtime, he's too tired to sleep deeply by 6:30/7

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2013 17:54

It's really hard to find the balance between when they are tired so need to sleep and when they are overtired and can't settle. Hope the antibiotics are effective nice and quickly for you./him. Ear infections suck and they aren't quite old enough to tell us what's wrong yet.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/11/2013 18:12

We went through a funny stage with sleep. I binned the morning nap. It meant he had a better lunch time nap as well as sleeping slightly later In The morning. I don't know how you lot do it with so little sleep I would be a messy heap on the floor. I am so proud of this quiche.

ditsygal · 28/11/2013 18:13

Det that sounds like hell. Remember this too shall pass, and ear infections do indeed suck! It will be so much easier once they can say "my ear hurts".
Really hope his sleep improves. I am the grumpiest cow when F has rubbish sleep. It's a good job I don't work at the moment as I would probably shout at lots of people.

TheDetective · 28/11/2013 18:55

Still tired!

Will try and be coherent Grin.

I think we have caught this ear infection early this time - he was ill for days before he stared abx last time. Fingers crossed. He's currently climbing on my head. Literally. He is stood on my shoulder, one foot on my head... Hmm.

Pidj we can't really bring bedtime much earlier due to work shifts. We do put him down earlier on some days, when he needs it. He's going up aaaany minute now Grin.

I have decided we are going to try no bottle in the AM, breakfast on waking (around 7.45-8) with 4oz milk in a beaker. Lunch at 11.30, then nap. Then afternoon snack around 2.30-3, with dinner at his usual time. Bottle before bed.

It's messing up my life though - his groups are on over those hours. May have to give up for now. :( Gutted.

Anyone any opinions on the ear infection coming back so soon? He's not otherwise been unwell. I'm wondering if the abx didn't completely shift the infection due to the amount he actually spat out. Hmm

I spoke to the dietician on the phone today also. No dairy til end Jan/Feb is current advice. They said give him a long rest as his sleep has been so bad since the trial. And also due to the fact he is due his MMR.

I don't need to give him any milk at all now - he is going to get all his calcium from a supplement. It's a chewable one, but I am to mix it in orange juice for him. (The one for babies in drop form is still not available). So he doesn't need to have any milk unless he wants it. So that's why I'm happy to drop the morning feed and just give it in a beaker.

Will still keep the bedtime bottle for comfort reasons.

The bad part is if we stop the nutramigen, and go to oat milk, the fecking cost! £1.39 per litre, which would probably last 2 days. 2.5 max. Pfffft. I asked if we could get it on px. No. Awesome!

Good job we can actually afford it, I feel very sorry for families who can not.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2013 19:08

I was told it is v common for ear infections to come back frequently. Something to do with baby's inner ear not being as developed as an older child's ear? Can't remember. But common anyway. LO had two in a row just weeks apart that time her ear drum perforated. She hasn't had any more since despite several colds.

GTbaby · 28/11/2013 19:11

Seriously. Do I have TREAT ME LIKE SHIT on my head. I've got fil dinner ready. All timed to be hot when he finishes his prayers. N now he is like I wana watch the news.
A needs feeding and us crying. Now I gota wait for the fucking news to finish. FUCK OFF

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2013 19:15

Fucking hell GT I don't know how you cope Flowers

Passmethecrisps · 28/11/2013 19:34

gt feed his dinner to the dog/bin

I do sympathise pr. I get that our attitude to animals is different and sending to a shelter wouldn't necessarily be like sending her to the SSPCA for example. Poor everyone.

Still have a sore fucking head. 4 weeks. Going to chop it off

BigPigLittlePig · 28/11/2013 19:52

Sweary Thursday! Rock the fuck on doods! (I just wrote sweary monday which goes to prove my next point...)

Fucking knackered. Had a dose of PRs insomnia after being up for 2 hours with F overnight - my day began at 2.30 Envy, yuck. Lost it with dh, shouted at F, then went and cried on the sofa. I hate sleep deprivation, it has made me a chronic cowbag.

Det I hope the abx work for O. The process causing the inflammation will probably continue for longer than the course of antibiotics, so fluid levels, and corresponding amounts of pain, will vary over time until things settle altogether. Which is why they seem to get recurrent infections. You have my sympathies re: work though, it is shit.

PR ((hugs)) about the cat, it sounds a horrible dilemma.

Pass sorry to hear you have a bad head Thanks

GT once more, you have the patience of a saint. I still don't know how you do it!

Lily good luck with the move.

Happy birthday to chasings O - hope you both have had a splendid day.

Headline news from the pig house tonight is.....WE HAVE STEPS! Repeatedly, between mummy and daddy, 4 or 5 steps at a time! I was Shock and Grin and then cried.

Passmethecrisps · 28/11/2013 19:58

Hooray to steps! And sleep deprivation is a total and utter bitch. I can't imagine how you get on with it with the hours you work

BigPigLittlePig · 28/11/2013 20:04

The ever helpful twat consultant at work today said "well at some point you just have to accept you're tired and get on with life". I swear to god I nearly stabbed him with my biro. I felt like screaming at him "I have been up since 2.30. For 2 months my daughter has woken pretty much hourly and slept in my bed. It has been 12 months since I slept in beyond 7am. Fucking fuck off you bender"

YellowWellies · 28/11/2013 20:07

PR sorry I didn't mean to make a bad situation worse your message just sounded so matter of fact I was Shock (when actually you were just being succinct sorry Blush ). I forget you're not over here and shelters and the attitude to animals in general is different. I imagine the French are too chic to end up as the sort of cat ladies who'd happily take on a vicious puker. I come from a long line of cat adopters who ask the shelter "Who's been here longest?" Blush . I had nightmares about the vets bin bags for ages hence I'm still trying to find an alternative. Could you release her somewhere? Is she a good hunter (this option is unfair if not)? If not then I think PTS with you is fairest. So sad though. Poor POAS puss Sad . Poor you Sad .

We had the paed today. He is under the 0.4th centile line for height and 2nd centile weight (short and fat - he's channelling my MIL) which makes him smaller than my sister's three month preemie was at the same age Sad Sad Sad . She wants to see him every six weeks to keep tabs and is concerned he eats like a horse but is so tiny. It could just be a very fast metabolism. It isn't cystic fibrosis though she is pretty sure (yey!). I'm to keep on with trace dairy once a week but he's unlikely to be able to tolerate it for another six months. Apparently if they still need reflux meds they're not ready for dairy.

She advised that MMR can fuck up reflux for six weeks so gird your loins Mummies of refluxers. That could, combined with his teeth, and 12 month growth spurt be what has fucked his sleep for the last woo month to six weeks (though he's still sleeping through randomly twice a week). Aaargh please be sleeping again when DH goes to the Falklands for a fortnight.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/11/2013 20:11
Passmethecrisps · 28/11/2013 20:31

yw I am sure all will be well with the bear - I suspect he has hollow leggies. Glad they are on it though.

Also interesting chat about the MMR. P has hers booked for a week on Monday. DH is taking her. Could be veeeery interesting.

Head is more annoying that anything else. Niggly sore rather than banging sore. Also having weird spinny brain moments. Meh.

P is still rummaging around having been in bed an hour and a half. She is quiet but obviously struggling to get to sleep properly. I went up and she had her head on her nanouse so I wonder if she would like a pillow? Problem is that she travels the full length and breadth of the cot so I am not sure how much use it would be.

Kyz · 28/11/2013 20:37

Evening all - lookit how good i'm being! I'm even on the laptop so can manage epic postage!

Glad your dh is back tonight sophia :)

gt shape sorting comment made me LOL!

pikz FC we do get out yuss! Glad jabs went ok, E wasn't bad when he had the jabs but a bit miserable this afernoon, but has gone to bed fc he stays there

Yaaay for sleeping through again stunt that's fab :)

Happy birthday babylaughalot and babychasing though i think i remembered O already but i can't remember if I did

SS Talk, yes, i better get present ordering!

sounds nice fatima is that what you went with in the end? do you mind putting a pic on fb for us to see?

GT Hugs, sounds stressful, you cope really well with so much shit to deal with!

sorry about your cat pr :(

det that sounds really awful :( hope he's better with sleep once ear infection has gone! I don't think they'll think you've lost the plot, you are suffering from sleep deprivation and you can still type so i think you're doing amazeballs! Maybe now tooth 5 has come along tonight might be better?

Speaking of teef, only two here still, what's everyon else's lo's toofcount up to?

sorry for your sore head pass i have a headache today and a day of it is driving me nuts!

yaaaay for steps bp

bless him yw hopefully it's nothing to be concerned about, he sounds quite healthy, just little (i know he has reflux but you know what i mean, i hope?)

Overnight we have gone from hopping around furniture and walking confidently holding a hand to full on walking, turning, running, very confident and whilst still falling over, it's not often. He also wants to be up almost all the time, choosing to walk and things. This morning he showed my brother he can feed his own fish. Well, I say 'go and feed your fish E' and he goes to his drawers and gets the fish food and takes it to the fish tank :D

GTbaby · 28/11/2013 20:46

Hmmm A seems to settle well in his car seat! He has been asleep last hour ish.

I'm going out tomorrow :) just to work. They are doing a mini Xmas market with staff selling their crafts. It will be fine to get out, and my mum had H

Pikz · 28/11/2013 21:02

Det that sounds awful am so sorry.

I have an L who seems very similar to O and this is our routine:

6-7am get up
7am breakfast with water
9am bottle
10am nap
11am up
12pm lunch
2pm bottle and nap
3.30pm up
4pm snack
5.30pm dinner
7.30 bath bottle bed

He is sometimes not having the morning nap depending on what time he gets up and if he is at home with me. If at nursery he knackers himself so needs both.

Went to docs this afternoon for check after all the illness and hospitalisation. He is improving and his lungs are clear, upper chest and throat still full of mucus which may take a few more weeks to clear.

He's in bed now after a busy day and all his jabs.

Lots of love to all.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2013 21:12

7.5 teeth here kyz

Well done E and F for the walking. They just suddenly get it and off they go. LO has only been walking two weeks and I am already nostalgic for the good old days when you could put them somewhere and they wouldn't get up to mischief.

yw no she is not a hunter and the winters here are incredibly harsh. She did kill a bird once or twice but unlike my mum's cats who have always been excellent hunters - coming up the lane weighed down by rabbits almost as big as themselves - my two were indoor cats until last year so never got the knack of finding their own food. I've been going over the options now for so long. If the vet has someone who has recently lost a cat and he trusts I will consider that. I have seen so much evidence of animal cruelty though in the most unexpected of places both here and in the uk that I don't really trust anyone anymore, and certainly not a complete stranger.

Paed said mmr and other jabs exacerbate allergies and intolerances while it works its way through the system which is why LO had an eczema flare up round then. It's a short term pita reaction but still better than the illnesses themselves.

Misslaughalot · 28/11/2013 21:45

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for O, we've had a lovely day. DP took the day off work and so the three of us had some quality time together. We started the day at hospital with her allergy appointment, and she's been prescribed an epipen which is the outcome we wanted, just for our peace of mind I guess.
Then presents and cake a rather shit Victoria sponge with the jam and cream on top instead of the middle because I can't count and made too small a cake
I am wondering if O has some kind of infection. Her sleep has been awful over the last 3 weeks, Detective reading your post made me think I could have written it myself so I will give it until Saturday to see if her cough and cold clears up (it will be over a week long) and I'll make a dr appt if not.
I have a problem I could do with some advice on, but think I'll post of FB as it's easier to keep track of replies there.

GTbaby · 28/11/2013 21:55

Pikz interesting about breakfast n water first. We always do milk first.

Will discuss our morning routine with FH. As he does it most times so needs both of us doing the same thing.

I just want a proper clear two hours where I can take them out for a walk. So I can loose my huge gut and get fit.
Planning a massive joint 1st and 2nd bday for the boys and I need to look good. Lol I got about 3stone to loose!

Yeah for walkers. I'm dreading it and looking forward to it. I've always had this image of him running up to me for a hug. Silly me. He never wants cuddles now or gives me kisses. Only baby gets kisses. Jealous much?
