OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 18:14

Also does it when I try to feed him a bottle too quickly or syringe in gripe water.

roofio87 · 25/11/2013 18:16

oh and slippy I wouldn't worry too much. as I was quite worried about Hunter when he was first born I asked the peadtrician at the hospital to watch his breathing as it was so varied, quiet one min then raspy then panting etc. he said babies just breath like that, they can't regulate it as well but it's normal.

Slippysnow · 25/11/2013 18:36

His nose is a tiny bit stuffy but not blocked (I think).
That's interesting roofio, maybe I should keep an eye but relax a little.

After saying I don't think c's Tt bothers him/ gets in the way of bf, I've noticed thanks to the other ladies he is taking on more air than he should then suffers for it. I think I'll seek a referral.

roofio87 · 25/11/2013 18:49

yeah slippy of course keep an eye on him. but I don't think their breathing is as clear cut as adults about whats 'normal'

Readyasilleverbe · 25/11/2013 18:50

Clapham I've resorted to sticking C in sling in the house or pram for a walk to get him to nap. Have you tried a sling with your sticky C? X
I have dtd a few times since 2 wks post partum, its nice at first but gets pretty uncomfy if/ when it gets a bit deep(sorry WAY tmi!) can't think of a reason for this but maybe it's to do with fluids. Will have to experiment with ky! Thank you for info legally! God can't believe the level of sharing that goes on here!

Racheld33 · 25/11/2013 19:00

pink please try not to feel bad. We have all/will all have accidents. DS has had a few falls that I should have been more careful about. DD is only 7 weeks old and has already had one major accident (which was completely my fault) Blush but luckily ok.

roofio DD is normally awake 4-6pm ish on/off at the moment because of noise/smells of cooking/teatime with a toddler, so at 6 she is exhausted. I take her to our quiet bedroom at 6, turn the lights down, start the white noise and start feeding/dressing for bed. Normally swaddle her at 6.30 and she falls asleep quickly. I put her in bed then, but hear her on the monitor normally every 45 mins through the evening, so I go up, give her a quick feed, and then put her back in bed.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 25/11/2013 19:32

Can I ask a quick question? After 7 and a half weeks of relatively problem free bf I think I may be getting a blocked duct, does anyone have any experience of this? My right boob has been tender/a little sore since last night and there's a hard lump on one side. I tried massaging in shower, is there anything else I should be doing? Is it possible to prevent it turning into mastitis?

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 19:48

squirrel keep the breast as empty as possible. Let baby fees then express (if that's possible) mine went after 24 hours.

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 19:52

Squirrel - always start feeding on that side. If you are supposed to be feeding from the other side, Just let LO feed for 5 mins, then switch to the right side, iyswim. Massage massage massage towards the nipple - in shower, when feeding, just whenever (but wear a breast pad!!). I have avoided lots of potential bouts of mastitis this way. Oh, and drinkers of fluids.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 25/11/2013 20:20

Thank you both, fingers crossed!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 25/11/2013 20:39

Well done on weight gain flyer!
My baby also only naps in a sling, won't even sleep in the pram. I'm thinking it's ok for now until he gets bigger and stops napping on me.......then I don't know what we will do!
Bizarrely he can self settle at night. Put him swaddled in basket with white noise on and he goes to sleep, no crying nothing just contentedly drifts off. Only until 10ish though and then he sleeps in with me. DH is also in our spare room clapham, well during the week and we are together at weekends. I miss him too.

Flyer747 · 25/11/2013 20:47

Another one with dp in spare room apart from I don't miss him Grin

So we are at that 6 week growth spurt Shock nipples are shot to pieces already vas it's only just commenced earlier on. I fed in cafe Nero earlier flashed my nipple at men and young boys! Got some strange looks Grin

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 20:49

One here who has dh in bed but would rather him be in spare room!

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 20:49

If we had one of course!

claphammama · 25/11/2013 21:00

lol flyer at both not missing DP and flashing your nipples at innocent boys Grin

Natalieand · 25/11/2013 21:01

shooting ds hates napping in the day and is miserable but at night also self settles.... Babies r so confusing.

flyer how r u and dp now?

emmo sorry the worst was confirmed for your sister, I hope it all works out for her xx

I decided today that the rediculous amounts of sick mainly throwing milk back up not actual sick and miserable-ness (if that's even a word) took ds too the doctors and I think he may have had reflux they have given me gaviscon too trial till Friday to see if there's an improvement but think the most likely cause is a milk protein intolerance (is that what its called?) his 6 week check with gp is Friday which is also my 6 week check which we get went automatically weird how every area does it differently.

How r ppl feeling emotionally these days? I find that somedays I feel ok and other days I feel like packing my bags and running away from my life where I get so overwhelmed and can't stop crying where 5 weeks 5 days today

I will try to keep up and post more sorry to those I've missed

H now weighs 11lb 13oz the little Chubs

chickieno1 · 25/11/2013 22:00

Well done on weight baby flyer!

Dh also in spare room. Initially supposed to be just during the week but he was in there at weekend too! Tbh he does not do sleep deprivation at all and I don't have the patience at the minute to deal with it!!

Emmo sorry to hear about your sisters diagnosis. It's great you can be there for her and the baby will definitely be a positive focus for her! Xx

Pink hope you guys are better now. I can just imagine how you're feeling xx

Sorry can't remember what I read now!

Mrs hn where are you?? We ll need you to sort us out pretty soon :). I mean with a clever new thread Grin

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 22:31

Saab has been asleep since 9pm... Why the hell am I still awake?!!!!

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 22:32

Bloody hell damn auto correct. Baby obviously!

Sephy · 25/11/2013 22:36

Untitled , I've had exactly the same day. She's now napping on me (tried to start bedtime at 630)but woke after five mins the last time I tried to put her down asleep.

She'd had a grand total of twenty minutes by that point... How do you reset an overtired baby?!?

BowlFullofJelly · 25/11/2013 22:53

We've also had a crappy napping day today. The only time she really naps is when out and about in the sling. I'm starting to really hate nap time during the day - dd fights her sleep, I get frustrated, and poor ds is just sat around waiting for me to play, then interrupts just as she is settling and so I have to start again.

Clapham I would be up for a london meet up! I've already got plans for thursday, but maybe another time.

Great job on the posting all, I look forward to having more to catch up on during the graveyard shift

xuntitledx · 25/11/2013 23:05

He eventually did drop off and had a 3 hour nap then woke up the second I was putting dinner on the plate - fantastic sense of timing that boy!

Trying to get him down again now - I'm knackered!

ananikifo · 25/11/2013 23:17

Flyer i missed the news about A's weight. Congrats!

J doesn't always settle in the pram so while shopping this afternoon I had him in the sling while I pushed a pram with the shopping bags in it. It felt strange but we were both happier.

Tomorrow we are going to the Manchester Christmas markets with friends. I think it's obviously easier to just take the sling but DH wants to take the pram. He always thinks j will be cold in the sling. I think he's lovely, warm, and happy in there. I really don't want to face the crowds with the pram, and how can you push if you have a mulled wine in your hand? Grin

moonblues · 25/11/2013 23:19

Flowers pink the great thing about broken bones is that they heal so well. If it's any comfort I dislocated my DS's elbow when he was about 3 (it's honestly easier to do than you think!) He wailed and as I felt and bent his elbow to see where it was sore I felt it clunk back into place and the crying magically stopped. It was one of those bad news/good news phone calls to DH. It was 3 days after we had already been in A&E with DD after I slipped on the ice whilst carrying her, so I wasn't having my best mothering week!

I think there should be some way of measuring all the accidents you've prevented, because I bet you prevent hundreds for each one that slips through.

roxvox · 25/11/2013 23:28

flyer congrats on the weight gain! That's brilliant!

untitled seems as though you have a polite baby like us. She seems to like insisting on having family meals where we all eat together (me with one hand).

hayle I stared at the name 'Saab' for ages trying to work out how you pronounce your child's name and also trying to work out if I like it!

I'm on operation soften stools here. Have bought prunes, apricots, fresh pineapple and Fybogel. I'm also aiming to drink so much water that it makes me feel sick/have to wee every 5 minutes. I can't take the fissure pain any more! Does anyone know - if I went to the doctors about them then would they want to examine me, or would they take my word for it?

flyer I saw some constipation suppositories in Tesco earlier - any idea if they're the same as GP suppositories your HV suggested?
