Check in here. Do we still need the stats?

emmo, thoughts with you. Must be so hard.

moon, the harness stays on so top and tail (and cotton buds into the creases made by the harness).

As you can imagine, we are paranoid about poosplosions!! She'll get a fresh harness every 2 weeks.

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 12:59

Rachel and Ruby - the twins woke every two hours until about 1.5 weeks ago (at 9.5 weeks). Now they go down at 9.30 (bedtime is at 7 but they cluster feed until 9.30, giving me half hour snatches to have a cuppa etc), then wake at midnight or 1, 3 or 4 then 6.30 or 7.... I think that's brilliant.... My expectations are low after DD...

Mnippy - fab rules. We have similar.

Memo - best wishes to your sister and your family x

ImpOfDarkness · 25/11/2013 12:59

hayle I'm abroad, not sure how it works in the UK but you could google the children's osteopathy centre, I've heard good things about it.

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 13:08

Sorry imp I knew that! Hopefully if we get the TT appt I can ask the LC.

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 14:02

Hayle - I took DD to a CO here in the UK and it was private. I am pretty sure it's always a private thing. I don't remember it being that price though. Just google / yell.com local oesteopaths - most practices also offer cranial osteopathy.

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 14:05

What price legally?!

Ill have a google.

Well bf lady just called and referral is in! He could be done this Wednesday. Phew, things are happening.

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 14:20

Hmmm.... Hazy memories of those early weeks. I think about £40 for first session then £30 for a follow up. I think I might get it again for V....

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 14:22

Ah, sorry, I see the confusion.... My post was meant to say "I don't remember it being that pricy", not price!

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 14:36

Haha, I thought if missed something! Yes looks around £40 a time. I think I'll see how the TT division goes first as money is tight especially now I'm on SMP.

Isaac seems a little off after his jabs. Fussing more than usual at the breast.

Racheld33 · 25/11/2013 14:51

Thanks legally she is 7 weeks now, so if I can get it to every 2 hours in the next couple of weeks I'll be happy! (If not still slightly jealous of those getting 6+ hours between feeds!!!)

Thanks for emmo I'm sure seeing your LO really takes your sisters mind off things x

Just rang a booked a new hairdresser for next week to come to my house for my highlights. The thought of having these roots for Xmas is depressing, but as ebf on demand it is impossible to plan a 3 hour trip out alone. I hope she's good and I don't get a mullet do for Christmas! Wink

xuntitledx · 25/11/2013 15:09

Awful day here today...LO will not sleep and when he's not feeding, he's screaming because he's overtired.

Just sobbed for the past 30 mins because I don't know what to do to calm him :(

He's feeding again now in the hope that he'll drop off...

Flyer747 · 25/11/2013 15:14

Excellent with the TT referral hayle.

Untitled maybes growth spurt? He is nearly 6 weeks?

So A had to go for final appointment at Alder Hey and we saw a lovely consultant who echoed she is healthy ignore health visitors.
Fab news is she has put on 5oz from last week Smile and is now 10lb10oz I could do a happy dance.

xuntitledx · 25/11/2013 15:16

I really hope it's a growth spurt and will therefore pass soon he'll be 6 weeks on Friday.

flyer - congrats on the weight gain, that's great news!

ananikifo · 25/11/2013 15:22

J is 6 weeks old next week and I booked his appointment in baby clinic a few weeks ago. Today I tried to phone for my own six week appointment and they said they don't release the appointments until Friday. I really wish they did joint appointments here. It makes so much more sense.

hayley I'm so glad the jabs weren't too bad today. I hope we all have such luck.

emmo Thanks Best wishes to your sister and family.

I think we're the perfect distance from dh's parents. We see them about every two weeks now that j is here. They come for an afternoon or evening and go home. I'm really jealous of DH for that, although we made the decision together to live here.

I had an appointment for new bank accounts for j and me and he started crying halfway through. The lady managed to open an account for him and he started crying inconsolably. I thought he needed a feed and a nappy change but as soon as we left the bank he stopped crying. He has no money in his account because we left so quickly! He seems to have inherited my and DH's money sense.

Soupqueen · 25/11/2013 15:32

Congrats flyer, great news. I know the lack of weight gain was the concern, but she really is a good size. I think she was born about the same time as mine, 15 October? She isn't over 9 pounds yet and is perfectly healthy.

Do most people have 6 week baby checks done by GP? Here, my check is at the GP but the health visitor does the baby.

GeorgieJo · 25/11/2013 15:52

untitled really sorry you are having a bad day. Hoping the 3pm feed did the trick and you now have a sleeping baby.

Flyer great news about weight gain - congratulations to you and A.

Emmo thinking of you and your sister.

All the talk of 6 week appointments has finally spurred me into action, and I managed to book both of ours for Wednesday. Can't wait to find out how much weight S has put on in last week - DH, my mother and I run a mini-sweepstake everytime he is weighed (sad but true!)

pinkbuttons · 25/11/2013 16:16

Haven't fully caught up yet but just having the most awful day and need to cry at feeling like the worst mum in the world today.
Decided to take DS to soft play this morning in an effort to do something fun for him. Firstly took us an 90 minutes to just get out of the house and even then id forgotten to give Isla her morning dose of rantidine, then as soon as we got there I closed the door of the building and DS had his fingers in the hinge side. Cue hysterical crying from both me and DS and 2 hours in minor injuries unit :( Had to leave I with the receptionist while DS had an x ray and had them both crying whilst waiting as Isla was hungry and DS was in pain. All just awful, DS has a broken finger and somehow have to keep a 2 yr olds 2 midde fingers strapped together. Just feel so awful and so guilty, even though all nurses at the hospital were lovely

flyer so glad that A has gained weight and you have support against the health visitors!

Emmo thinking of you and your sister, hope your feeling better today x

Will go back and catch up now. Sorry for my rant

funkky · 25/11/2013 16:35

Awwww pink, I hope they both feel better soon. Accidents in children are fairly regular, I have heard no matter how careful mums are and not a reflection of how good a mum you are.

Also guilty of not posting in a while but happy to report baby O now sleeps through usually 10 to 7 and wakes up twice to feed. Also my 7 week old bAby ( little man) now weight 13.5 pounds and is now in 3-6 months clothes. Everyone comments on how huge he is.

In other news, my brother And wife just had a baby girl after 12 years of marriage and 6 miscarriages. They live in Canada, are in the process of adopting but she has been in America to closely monitor pregnancy and she was born 3lb 2 at 32 weeks via cs. We are sooo happy!

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 16:48

Congrats to your brother funkky, what happy news for the family.
Legally of I am brave enough to ask gp About it I will let you know what he says!
Hugs Pink, accidents happen. Have a Brew

Breastfeeding group was really positive. She said I have Thomas too far forward (ie too far to the left who feeding on left side) so need to move him back slightly. That might fix compressed nipple /lipstick shape / white ridge that might be caused by tongue squashing nipple and might encourage him to open mouth wider.

Alternatively might be getting squashed because of tongue tie. She said I have a slight one (had no idea!) and he either haas tt or a short tongue. She couldn't really see but said prolonged jaundice, not opening wide, not poking tongue out, wind, coming on and off and nipple damage all made her consider it (I hadn't asked yet as didn't want to influence what she thought the problem was). She suggested keep trying to show him how to stick out tongue and tapping his tongue with a finger.

Blanched nipples / vasospasm where it goes white and dark purple could be because of being compressed/ bad latch but could also be raynauds syndrome which she thought I might have as some of my fingers and toes go white/yellow and numb in the cold. Treatment is to keep nipples warm. Alternatively is medication. But will try fixing latch first. She is going to call me about other things I can do - eg rub oil on twice a day when she finds her sheet about it.

Slippysnow · 25/11/2013 17:15

Hi all,
Glad to see more posts.

emmo sorry to hear about the diagnosis, you and your sister sound like you have a good relationship which will bring her strength throughout, I'm sure :)

I was wondering about the 6 week check and

claphammama · 25/11/2013 17:22

flyer I'm still here albeit permanently one-handed and massively behind on the thread. Have a really needy baby here too... can't put him down. Ever... also he fed every 1.5 hour the last two nights so feel your pain legally and hasn't slept at all today - now overtired and even more needy... so feel your pain too untitled... I can't do anything in the house, end up eating or going to the bathroom with him screaming in the background... really hope it's just a stage... i also resigned myself to co-sleeping as it's the only way i can get "some" sleep. DP is now always sleeping in the spare bedroom. I'm not in the dtd mood yet but really miss having someone to cuddle up to in the middle of the night and night time feeds / settling the baby feels so lonely sometimes...

flyer so Angry at your DP... hope he doesn't dare to suggest anything similar again! Angry Hope you are OK and so lucky to have such an amazing mum. Also, great news on A's weight gain! Hope you can relax now and get that "pump harness" off you! Thanks Wine

funkky what a big boy and. congrats to your sis! what a lovely year for your family

pink don't be too hard on yourself. It happens to all of us. I had a similar terrible accident in the playground when DS1 was two - he banged his nose so badly that it bled for several days afterwards. It was entirely my fault and me being thoughtless. We all have accidents and near misses. He will be ok and won't even remember it in the future Thanks

orange please ask your GP about hoo hoo farts! I had the same problem after DS1 - although only when I was doing inverted postured in yoga. it was so embarrassing the first time... I was trying to cover up with a pretend coughing fit Grin ended up wearing a tampon to all my yoga classes for two years! I expect the same this time too but haven't done any headstands yet Grin would love to hear what your GP says. I will have an 8 weeks check up but it's still a few weeks away.

I'm also going to the sexual health clinic on Thursday morning to discuss contraception. The midwife thought mirena coil could be a good option for me. Apparently makes periods lighter rather than heavier. Has any of you had any experience of it?

emmo sorry about your sister. Hope her young body will manage to fight it. Thanks

ready how lovely he started smiling! we can't wait for these first smiles. never thought I would see and hear DP doing so many silly voices and faces. He is desperate to get the first simile Smile

pseudo are we still meeting on Thursday? anyone else fancy a trip to Clapham to join us on Thursday around lunchtime?

sorry for any typos. On phone, singlehanded, sleep deprived and exhausted...

Slippysnow · 25/11/2013 17:23

Rrrr...

....And whether they peek at your privates.

pink try not to beat yourself up about your ds's fingers accidents happen, people just don't like discussing them. C threw his head back (as he likes doing) and tapped his head on the jar of jam I was holding.... I felt awful but he seemed ok.

I'm slightly worrying about c at the moment, he keeps gasping (not continually, but maybe twice an hour) whilst sleeping, he does it slightly more whilst feeding.

He had a slight cold and I thought it could be to do with this, but not convinced. I made the mistake of googling saw 'gasping a sign of cot death' freaked out and came running onto mumsnet.

pinkbuttons · 25/11/2013 17:41

Thankyou ladies, I knew you would help. DH first accused me of being ridiculous for taking him to hospital then when we found out it was broken was questioning me about what happened as if I'd done it deliberately. not helpful.

interesting to hear about different 6 week checks. Isla gets seen at 8 weeks on same day as her injections bt I had to book mine which is on Thursday. I have a growing list to ask about, thankfully they book a double appt here. also would it be weird of I ask her to look down there? im still doubtful about how ive healed. still hurts to dtd and it feels odd...
Also listening out for what advice people are given for fissures.
oh the glamours of childbirth...

flyer am glad your DP has pulled himself together and apologised. x

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 18:10

Slippy does he have a blocked nose? Is it when he startles? Thomas does it too in bed for no obvious reason and I panic there is something over his face but there never is.

roofio87 · 25/11/2013 18:14

pink definitely not your fault, accidents happen. hope ds is ok. don't feel funny about asking dr to check. I haven't dtd yet (waiting for lochia to stop, now waiting for period to f off!!) but will definitely be asking to be seen again if I find it a problem. Otherwise you may end up just suffering with it when you don't need to.

when might H start sleeping in the evenings? hes only 7 weeks now so not bothered about it just wondering. typical day, like today, goes wake at 7 30 then awake until afternoon. slept 12 30 -2 in pram, fed, then slept 2 20 until now! expecting to wake for feed soon. he will then be awake till bed time at 10 30/11 ish. when might be start sleeping from like 7 30/8 ish?
