Check in here. Do we still need the stats?

Oh and excuse the typos in that message.

Orange I hope you get some rest at some point today.

Good luck with the check ups and jabs.

Do you need to book your 6 week post natal check or do they arrange it for you? I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and heard nada from my doctors regarding this.

Roofio if you are lurking I'm going to the Liverpool Christmas markets this week are you going? I believe they are good this year.

Clapham where are you?! Please check in haha x

Flyer747 · 25/11/2013 09:12

Chick fx she's in a milk coma now and you can head back to sleep. Are you in Toronto?

Soupqueen · 25/11/2013 09:32

I'm another one that misses the chatty thread but am guilty of not posting. I haven't mastered 1 handed typing on my phone.

flyer, I hope the break does you both good and clarifies things for you. Questioning A's paternity is unforgivable in my book. Or, at least, would require major steps to show he was committed to you both and would be supportive in the future.

I think I might have fissures too, i thought it was just lochia (still going at 5 weeks 6 days) but it does hurt to poo and there does seem to be more blood on wiping. 6 week check tomorrow so will ask.

I'm another with a baby who fusses badly every feed. Pulling off all the time (usually with nipple still clamped, ow), twists, won't open her mouth properly, screams etc but feeds like a dream during the night. I don't think our latch has ever been great, although she is gaining well it has never not hurt. Grappling with the harness has added another dimension of trickiness so I've sent an email enquiry to a private lactation consultant. Feeding shows no signs of getting easier 6 weeks in so it's time to throw some money at the problem.

ana, the christening sounds lovely. Sorry you're missing your family. I live far from mine too (although nothing like as far) so can sympathise. I also know how hard it is to have them staying (although its really my in laws that are the tricky guests) - I wish they lived close by and could pop by rather than the all or nothing approach it has to be?

mnippy, loving your rules, will share them with DH tonight. To be fair, he has been fab but I don't think he gets that he gets a lot more down time than me. When he has G, I'll be doing laundry, making dinner, having a much needed shower whereas he has time to play computer games.

I'm sure I've forgotten most of what I meant to say but G is stirring now so time for nappy change and fussy feed.

What ae other breastfeeders wearing these days? I'm still mostly in maternity clothes (mainly because I don't have the time or energy to look out other clothes and see what fits/affords easy access - we moved house while I was pregnant so I have no idea where anything is!) and am thinking I need to get some (cheap) normal clothes.

I promise to try and post more - although it's likely to be a gibberish of autocorrect if I do so at night!

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 09:33

Flyer you have to book the appointment with your gp at my drs.

Soupqueen · 25/11/2013 09:34

Sorry flyer, cross posts, took me ages to type out that mammoth one! I'm glad DP is going to pull his socks up and sees how awful it was to suggest A wasn't his.

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 09:36

flyer glad A is sleeping better. Dd was very boost, hence why we moved her into her room at 9 weeks. No room for ds so just gotta live with it. IRT to post natal check I was told anything to do with baby will be sent through but a anything to do with mum you must book.

Immunisations here today @ 9 weeks as I forgot the appt last Monday! Still pushing for TT referral. Bf lady supposed to bring form on Thursday to sign and didn't! Grrr!

Anyone else had an appt through for baby. it'll be when he's 10 weeks? It's not jabs. Hmmmmm

Hope baby chickie is sleeping!

I have a confession... My Dsis took baby for the night on Saturday Shock I slept all night and feel a lot better for it. I really needed a break and dh wasn't gonna give me that! Oh yeah but he did give him a bottle around 2am the other morning yet I had to fetch it and wind him/settle him... Big help he was Hmm

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 09:46

Soup I am in maternity clothes plus bought some cheap basic long sleeved tops and vests and a stretchy skirt from Dorothy Perkins/ new look. I pull the top up and the vest down so boob pokes out in the middle. Breastfeeding tops all seem to be made of synthetic sweaty material and are quite expensive. Once my size settles down might buy a few though.

Well done flyer in fitting the jeans, are they the ones you bought in your shopping trip?

Hayle at my gp I have to call two weeks before to book baby's 8 week check and immunisations.

roofio87 · 25/11/2013 09:56

I've got baby H's jabs next monday and his 8 week check on tuesday. they did apologise profusely for not being able to do them on same day, but is annoying having to go twice!!

flyer oh yes I will have to go and check them out. was just thinking I feel ready to tackle a trip into town with H!! I'm going out on saturday night and my friends keep talking about bars I've never heard of!! I'm scared I'll get lost haha!!

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 09:56

Really orange! They are triggered by children's Heath services here (through HV) shocking how different areas are.

The appt we have at 10 weeks is initial exam? Anyone know/had this? Seems things have changed a lot since dd.

Flyer747 · 25/11/2013 10:13

I bought them off eBay orange tried them on in topshop and they were tight they are merely a stop gap for a few months until I can fit into my size 8 again, so bought second hand ones a dark blue pair and a black pair plus 2 coats one Zara one mango and a reiss jumper and a bcbg jumper! Now I'm on maternity pay I need to be much more careful with funds.

I don't mind second hand so long as they are in good condition and I wash or dry clean the items beforehand .

apperleydapperley · 25/11/2013 10:20

Hello, i'm afraid i have also been reading but not posting - will try harder!

flyer glad things are a bit sorted with dp - having children and esp new babies definitely puts a strain on any relationship IME and we all need max support from our OHs at this time, not bad bloke behaviour...

soup am strugglimg with clothes too. still wearing maternity jens/trousers but they are too big and fall down, i might go and buy some decent jeans that fit as my weight loss seems to have stagnated and i'm not going to diet until after xmas now. I have bought some BF tops though which are good, but generally i feel like i look awful most of the time Sad

i'm only getting 3 hours at a time at night but T now also has a pattern of sleeping from 9pm until about 7am just waking for feeds and generally going back to sleep in between so its not too bad tempts fate horribly sympathies to those with worse sleepers.

I do have some uncomfortable sensations down below when i have wind and also is a bit sore when i wipe - not sure why as had a cs, but am thinking probably pelvic floor issues. I will ask at docs and get a check for a uti i think just in case.

I have 6 week check this week for me and baby - I did have to book it myself though and first jabs are booked in for 2 weeks time. (9 weeks)

Happy Monday to everyone Smile

GeorgieJo · 25/11/2013 10:23

Soup baby S behaved a lot like G on the breast. I got a private consultant round too who said it was the speed of my letdown - poor little thing was choking on it (but at night when I fed lying down it made it slower, so we were fine).

She gave me some good new positions for feeding (including saddle hold, where DS is "sitting up" on my lap - looks ridiculous but works!), and it has made a huge difference. He still fusses late afternoon/early evening, but I think that is just his fussy time. Rest of the day he is now doing brilliantly.

So for me throwing money at the problem was definitely worth it!

Interesting that other people have their 6 week appointments/jabs booked automatically. I also have to call GP and book it myself - keep meaning to but somehow haven't got round to it yet at 6 weeks + 2 days Blush

Will try to do better today!

roxvox · 25/11/2013 10:32

What if they do at our 6 week check up, and what do they do at baby's 6 week check up? A has hers on Friday (plus immunisations Sad ) and I have mine next Tuesday.

roxvox · 25/11/2013 10:33

What do they do - not 'What if'!

emmoB13 · 25/11/2013 10:52

I just got a letter through the post with an appointment for jabs and check up - i haven't even registered him yet!

I had a bit of a cry to DP last night. My sister as diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma and yesterday i took her to see hunger games at the IMAX cos she loves it. My mum wanted H so DP got 5 hours at home to himself. My friend from uni is coming to stay today for 2 nights so i said to him that it would be nice if the house was straight and the spare bed up by the time i got back. I got in and nothing had been done! He's usually so good, keeps baby with him on weekend nights to give me a break and helps if H is extra fussy on the night shift but everything got on top of me last night. I have not had 5 hours to myself doing nothing since H was born, if i'm not seeing to the baby i'm cleaning, cooking, showering, food shopping etc or helping my mum with my youngest sister. I felt bad after giving him a hard time for it but he apologized and said he would help with chores more. This baby lark aint easy!

mnippy i love your rules! He doesn't really do the competitive tiredness cos he knows he doesn't need as much sleep as me but he did make me cry once doing the passive aggressive talking to baby!

I have the opposite problem with family! My parents + 2 sisters and then my other sister and husband all live within 5 minutes of walking. I had to politely put a stop to them just turning up unannounced on an evening but i do see them a lot. Sometimes can feel a bit too much but i know i am lucky to have the support.

H now sleeps from 10.30/11 til 4.30/5 every night. Nothing we've done its just happened naturally and i only realized after it had happened a few times! He did have one day when he stayed awake literally from 8.30am til 6pm and we had a bad night but as long as he naps in the day he does well at night.

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/11/2013 10:57

Very sorry to hear that about your sister Emmo, I was wondering how you were getting on. And also that everything else is a bit overwhelming and exhausting at the same time. Thanks Brew Biscuit

emmoB13 · 25/11/2013 11:12

Thanks Orange :) Just one of those days! She starts chemo on Friday, every 2 weeks for 6 months. Her goal is to be well on her 20th birthday which is end of June. Baby H is such a source of joy for her though so i'm glad i can give her that.

moonblues · 25/11/2013 11:21

I had to phone to the 6 week check, though the immunisations I just get sent the appointment time. Annoyingly the only times they have for the 6 week checks are 3 & 3.30. Since I have to pick up DD from nursery at 3 & DS from school at 3.10 (if he gets out on time), I'm likely to be a harassed mess by the time I get there. Even if I take the car it takes ages to get 3 kids strapped into the car, fight with the school run traffic and then find a parking space near the GPs. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it!

moonblues · 25/11/2013 11:28

Sorry Emmo crossposted. It must be tough dealing with a new baby when your DS isn't well. Flowers

How are you getting on Soup. Are you able to take the harness off for baths or do you have to just top and tail. A lactation consultant sounds like a hood idea. My latch still isn't good on the right side and I can't work out why. After all the talk of TT, I was googling images, but really don't think C has it. I think he just pulls and chews when he's getting tired and I really should take him off sooner.

ImpOfDarkness · 25/11/2013 12:24

Just checking in. Those of you with fussy babies, we took F to a cranial osteopath on Fri on the advuce of the midWife and it was magic, he's been much much calmer ever since. Worth trying.

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 12:31

Replying as I go....

Sorry Jelly, not had the numb bladder thing but was told it was a poss side effect and could take several weeks. Thanks for your advice re napping with your DS. Tried a cot nap just now for the first time and.... Disaster. I just had to keep going back in every couple of mins to ssshh then nurse a bit to sleep. After 40 mins, gave up and they're napping on me / on the bf pillow. I left then to cry a bit and only went in when one or the other got distressed (as opposed to grumbling). Is it just perseverance / them getting the idea and it eventually clicks?

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 12:32

Re being revirginised.... When bf you naturally produce much less / n

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 12:35

Just had 8 weeks jabs, Isaac cried for a couple seconds but that was it. I also asked her what the "initial exam" was we have at 10 weeks, basically its his 8 week check! Nurse pretty much said it was pointless! Also asked er about TT referral and whether it has to come from bf buddy. She said a gp should be able to do it so I have an appt for Tomorrow morning. Hoping it'll be quicker.

imp do you have to see cranial osteopath privately?

legallyblond · 25/11/2013 12:36

Grrrr..... / none of the usual lubricating discharge for sex, so it's all v dry and painful.

Orange - could you let me know what the GP says re, ahem, wind through your fanny.... I've had this since DD! Blush

Re 6 week check, I had to book. Detailed exam of the babies (basically a repeat of the paed check post discharge from hospital). For me a "are you ok?" And two second look at my (healed) c sec scar...

Haylebop12 · 25/11/2013 12:37

moon the frenulum doesn't have to be right to the tip to be TT. Isaacs is about halfway.
