Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheDetective · 13/11/2013 23:09

Oh and doing the late means that my children will be split up for the rest of the day :(

DS1 will go to his dads. Fucking crap balls.

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/11/2013 23:16

detective That sucks big time Sad I guess at least you get to wake up with them on xmas monring. Must be so hard having to drag yourself away though and go to work. I don't know how you do it. You're bloody fantastic.

Off to view a school tomorrow for DD1. I'm really hoping she get's into the school that she goes to nursery for but just because she's already in nursery there a school place isn't guaranteed. I was just pinning all hopes on getting her first choice but I've finally dragged my head out of the sand and realised I need to research other options. I can't believe she will be starting big school next year. I know everyone say's it but this time really does fly by. Soon all this illness, reflux, non sleep will be a distant memory (fingers crossed!).

GTbaby · 13/11/2013 23:43

Aww det that sucks. FH had the same shift last year. Can you not pretend Xmas is day before/after. Do gifts, meal etc. And just ignore Xmas day.
Convince ds1 you have arranged with Santa to deliver gifts early he still believes right?!? seems a Shame to rush the day before you go to work.

MsJupiterJones · 14/11/2013 03:17

Three bad nights in a row, I'm blaming the jabs... (I think of them as jags now due to the haggis quiche)

DH wasn't keen to give Calpol but my feeling is that if he seems in non- specific discomfort it's worth a try, we don't know if he is feeling a bit achey or something.

Anyway after 2 hrs he's finally gone back to sleep so I should try and do the same.

Evilwater · 14/11/2013 03:36

Hello everyone.
I'm writing this in the dark as I have news. I might have the keys on Tuesday. YAY!!!!!!

Bad news, P tried to guilt me into sex. I feel so angry, and I'm so glad I am going. He said that "we should split up as I never consider his feelings, and he doesn't want much", of course he wants N. He also said "I'm always going out with my friends, or family, and I never have any time with him!" Grr.... Angry Angry Angry. The only thing that has changed is I'm helping my friend with the wii fit. She no good with computer stuff. Angry

Evil

ValiumQueen · 14/11/2013 04:44

Evil I hope you do get the keys soon. Big hug.

YW that is very interesting. You are an inspiration x

Det I used to change the day for Christmas, indeed my whole family did. We used to all request to work Christmas Day and have Boxing Day off, and do it all then. One good thing about where I work is we get all Public Holidays off so I can celebrate like normal people.

J has been up since 3. It is not funny anymore.

Yes PR, that is exactly what I mean. Unfortunately. Even down to the boss situation.

DH is trying to settle J. J is very snotty which I think is the main problem. He has not been well enough to have his jags. I am dreading it.

Pikz · 14/11/2013 07:09

Am getting so behind I can't remember anything. So I shall start afresh from here.

VQ am so sorry to hear of so little sleep Brew

Det sounds rubbish. However plan a brilliant Christmas breakfast?

We have just decided to have Christmas at home here and not go up north to everyone. Hard decision but right for us.

L better again. Still a little quiet.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 08:11

pikz so glad he seems better. Will you be able to get someone to listen to his lungs before the weekend so you can relax?

vq yes there is the boss parallel too :(

detective that sucks :( but at least you get xmas morning. Why don't you just do an xmas brunch not the full meal, and do the full meal on xmas eve or boxing day?

evil that is great news am v excited for you Wine

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 08:11

We're doing xmas at home too. I'll probably still be on restricted curfew by then. I don't think anyone will visit us.

Pikz · 14/11/2013 08:34

PR crossing fingers both stay at nursery.

Yes the doc said I can ring and he will see him at lunch or after surgery if I am at all concerned. Last lot of soluble steroids this morning so now just nebuliser every 4 hours and amoxicillin 3 times a day. Bless him.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 08:55

That's great pikz glad they've been so on top of it. The good news is that as they get older bronchiolitis gets less and less harmful. Last year when dd1 got it and pneumonia less than a week before the paed said she'd be surprised if she got it as she was 20 months and healthy until then. As they move around more and they get more exercise and fresh air their lungs are stronger. So even at 12 months it is easier for them to cope with than at 9 months, and ndwborns of course get it worst of all. Generally.

This should be the last winter when we need to worry as much. Fingers crossed. Though DD1 is a very big and strong 2.8 and every cold and cough seems to be knocking her for six.

Hope that reassures somehow.

ChasingDaisy · 14/11/2013 09:18

Yay for keys evil! I had been wondering how you were getting on.

Is there a 12 month growth spurt? Oscar has been ravenous lately and even taken to waking twice in the night for milk. He had been sleeping through so it's a shock to the system and I'm knackered.

GTbaby · 14/11/2013 09:20

Not good when getting out of bed I'm trying to work out home to fit in a nap.
When H naps? But that's when I have lunch.
Lunch or nap. Ohh the decisions I have to make.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 09:23

Yes there is chasing but it's not normally too bad as far as growth spurts go. And is the last of the biggies until, I think, 18/20 months.

ChasingDaisy · 14/11/2013 09:35

Thanks PR. He also has about 50 teeth coming through at the moment after a 2 month break from teething so I will resign myself to crap sleep for a few weeks.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 09:54

Might not be that long. LO was unsettled for about a week but not all nights were awful.

GTbaby · 14/11/2013 10:04

At this rate it's going to be breakfast and lunch nor nap.

Although have a bottle of EBM in fridge that had to be used today. When will be the more effective use of it though hmmmm

Dilemma. A is fast asleep. Put him down. Transfer successful, and notice a poop spot. Oh no! Poo explosion. H needs me to I leave A for a min. Which turns In to 15min. A is sound asleep. Argh. Had to change nappy tho so had to wake him. Confused

BigPigLittlePig · 14/11/2013 10:42

Det welcome to the shit shifts club. I am dreading it.

FC for various offspring of vq and pr and that they stay at nursery for a decent stretch.

GT poonami sounds like a nightmare - I remember those horrors all too well!

Evil so glad you are nearly there. When are you moving?

Better night last night, although she woke at 8.40 (pm - am would be a miracle) so I went to bed and took her with me. We both slept soundly until 1 when she woke with what felt like a raging fever. After some grizzling she went back off snuggled into my neck until 6.40. Currently she's napping on me whilst the cat dozes in a patch of sun, waiting for the landlord to come and assess the leaky roof.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 10:50

I hope the piglet feels better soon pig Flowers

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 10:57

This thread has the potential to become interesting vq , pig and I can't remember who else off the top of my head who has had to take time off for sick babies : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1910988-Do-you-take-time-off-work-when-your-children-are-ill

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 10:57

Oh ffs I clicked the convert links thing: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1910988-Do-you-take-time-off-work-when-your-children-are-ill

BigPigLittlePig · 14/11/2013 11:06

It's an interesting one PR - so far, dh has had a week off, as AL, when F had hfam. This time round she has helpfully co-ordinated with my pre-booked AL, and when she had d&V she co-ordinated with my mums visit. I wouldn't have been safe to work yesterday, as it was I nearly rear-ended 3 other cars in a 5 minute journey Blush.

Lily311 · 14/11/2013 12:11

det we used to have Xmas on Xmas eve as Leo had to work over Xmas and nye. It worked for us, Xmas doesn't need to happen on Xmas day. This year I will be with O on Xmas eve am and will go to my parents' in the afternoon and stay there overnight.

Illnesses. This was one of the reasons I moved back here and stay at home till O is at least 2. As a lone parent I had zero support in London. Another year and my dad will be retired and can help out with childcare which I will rely on. Also nurseries close here at 4.30-5.00 so I might need them to do pick up once I'm back at work. No childminders here.

evil keeping my fingers cross for you. How will you do the move? Will you have any help?

Can it ask for Xmas movie ideas? I need to start building up a collection so I can watch movies over Xmas. I need easy watch. Also real Xmas tree or plastic ones? I'm going for the plastic for two reasons: 1) hate cleaning up 2) I don't agree with cutting trees out. My parents always get one which they plant in the garden afterwards but it's not as big as I would love. I will miss the smell though.

chasing o is following O. 2 weeks ago we had 2 wake ups overnight. Lasted for a week. All good now apart from the early wakings.

Any news from flounce?

ChasingDaisy · 14/11/2013 12:34

Lily, my Christmas DVD collection consists of:
Polar Express
Miracle on 34th Street (remake)
Elf
Jingle All The Way
Santa Clause (1,2&3)
Muppets Christmas Carol
Snowman & Father Christmas

PetiteRaleuse · 14/11/2013 12:40

Snowman and the new Snowdog one which came out last year. I love them. And Polar Express, though have yet to see that in English. My DSis has give me heaps of children's films on dvd and Polar Express is in there I think. Can't wait.
