I have only ever had one actual migraine and I thought I was having a stroke. I was in Tanzania on an expedition with kids and it started with spots before my eyes. I ended up numb down one side with tunnel vision. I was absolutely terrified. Once I realised it was a migraine I took myself off to a pharmacy to get some mega-painkillers. The pharmacist spent a full 5 minutes trying to give me his number to pass to a doctor in the UK "because they are very rich". Don't know what he thought he would do if one made contact.

Anyway, migraines are truly awful so you have my fullest sympathy pr

We have just had guisers round in the absolute teeming rain. Top marks for effort!

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2013 19:49

yw LO has been v unsettled and grumpy the last couple of days too. I think it's post jab related rather than eczema. I think after the weekend she'll be better.

Snot doesn't bother me. Milky vomit is the thing that gets me. Vomit is bad enough in itself but that sour milk smell is the worst.

Not sure of the trigger but they are mercifully very rare for me. I can't imagine having regular migraines I thought I was having a stroke when it woke me especially as I couldn't move my left arm. It was just numb from being slept on Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2013 19:50

Cross post phew I'm not the only one to jump to the worst case scenario!

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2013 19:52

No trick or treaters here tonight. I guess because it is school holidays and they are normally chaperoned in groups by the teachers so nothing has been organised. Oh well. I'm sure the three huge packs of mini twixes, smarties and snickers I had bought in preparation will be used up. I won't let them go to waste, I'll somehow force myself to eat them.

ChasingDaisy · 31/10/2013 19:55

The first time I lost my speech/vision due to a migraine I thought I was having a stroke too. Scary stuff.

YellowWellies · 31/10/2013 20:05

I've only had a migraine once - I had the trippiest visual disturbances I thought one of my retinas was detaching! (something you have to watch out for if you're as myopic as me and something I'm totally paranoid about!). Thanks Dr Google. Hope you and LO are feeling brighter soon PR.

GTbaby · 31/10/2013 20:07

Evil rubbish about the houses. I'm sure you will find a house very quickly. Your freedom is still within sniffing distance.

PR will a glass ofWine help. If only huh.

Never seen downtown, Never appealed. Think would cringe at D creek now lol. Loved it as a teen. Seen everything else you suggested.

Not looking forward to the reaction to the jabs. It's going to coincide with going back home, so he will already be unsettled.

We decided on a name. Will put it on FB in a bit Grin not my first choice. But my 2nd. So not bad.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2013 20:14

Doubt it but can.t have one anyway am xanaxed up...

YellowWellies · 31/10/2013 20:14

Wooooo GT can't wait to hear his name! Smile

PurplePidjOrTreatin · 31/10/2013 20:19

When i took dp into a+e they suggested it might be a symptom of a particular type of flu.

If in any doubt, get checked.

My gran (92, history of TIAs) slept on her arm funny, the hospital took it extremely seriously even though she was drama-llamaing again it really isn't worth the risk - you have 1 hour from the onset of symptoms of a blood clot stroke to get the drugs and recover, after that fuck knows (dp's was blood pressure hence the recovery - he regains skills as the swelling goes down)

Here endeth the lesson Blush

PumpkinIsles · 31/10/2013 20:35

One batch of trick or treaters has cleared us out!! Sad

Passmethecrisps · 31/10/2013 20:37

You are quite right pp.

Having suffered one I would never judge anyone for thinking the worst if they have a migraine.

I once took a school pupil to hospital because she was having a migraine. I was 99% certain that is what she had but her face was hanging on one side and she couldn't speak. Weirdly her parents were a bit eye-rolly that I took her in. I would do it again on a heartbeat

Pikz · 31/10/2013 20:45

I got taken to hospital for my first migraine aged 16 by my work as I collapsed and projectile vomited everywhere all over m and s.

I have suffered with them for 15 years and they are awful when they happen.

Get well soon PR.

PP they thought I was having a stroke when I broke my ribs playing rugby and they got a infection! ECG and MRI. Very odd.

ChasingDaisy · 31/10/2013 20:55

How is vvvvdp doing now Pidj?

YellowWellies · 31/10/2013 21:00

Any news from Det and VQ today?

Happy Birthday to Izzy's gorgeous wee J!

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2013 21:10

Did a long post. Lost it.

I am still fucking awesome Grin but so bloody tired.

DH has been vomiting everywhere, and my GP is a tosser as I could not even get a phone consultation for J. I could not get time off. This is just not right.

But I am so good at my job, I even amaze myself sometimes. I even made the consultant look very incompetent yesterday. She was wrong. I had to say something. The new boss was there at the time, but I had to say something.

Did I say I was tired?

Bry that sounds horrid, as does all the migraine talk. Never had one thankfully.

Hug to sick babies and mummies and brave Evil and anyone I missed x

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2013 21:12

And I give exceedingly good head Grin

ValiumQueen · 31/10/2013 21:12

(Gets coat)

Thechick · 31/10/2013 21:13

Yay for November birthdays!! (And October ones too)

I get migraines too. My trigger was alcohol so I haven't drank anything in about 2 years (i haven't had wine for even longer) but since I've had H I get then if I miss a meal and/ or don't get enough sleep 3 or 4 days in a row. I get them for about 3 days and I can't do anything apart from sleep but I've found a mix of codeine and paracetamol work better than the migraine tablets.

We had 1 trick or treater and I have loads of sweets. Not good.

Passmethecrisps · 31/10/2013 21:16

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

You are a star vq!

Oh. And just for anyone interested I answered my own question earlier about being too auld to wear an 18in skirt and wore that bitch anyway.

Passmethecrisps · 31/10/2013 21:18

chick that situation is the opposite of not good. No trick or treaters plus lots of sweets equals very very good. Surely.

I know people who walk around work claiming to be having a migraine. It's like the flu - if you have ever had it then you really, really know what it is. And that banging sore head, sore as it might be, is not it

YellowWellies · 31/10/2013 21:25

We've had all the wee ones from our street guising with their Mums. We've still got goodies left though. Whoop!

Pikz · 31/10/2013 21:27

Pass you would rock 18 inches

VQ I have just spat my hot ribena!!

Evil you are awesome.

Just wanted bonkers at trick or treaters who woke L and I up with incessant banging and door bell ringing at 9.15!! Wtf!! I live in the middle of no where on a gravel lane. Fuck off!! Lucky for them DP is on a man date at the cinema or they would have left hear with more than a telling off!!

Right off to bed sitting up to see if I can get some sleep. More than 3 hours in a row from both L and I would be bliss right now.

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/10/2013 21:31

For the first year ever I lit a carved pumpkin, put it in the window and bought sweets. We had no trick or treaters! Usually I'm relieved or out but this year I was quite up for some. As long as they are cute kids with parents in tow. Think it's co we live at the end of a close. Bit off the beaten track.

I'm going to take E to the docs tomorrow. Aside from the random high tempreture and lethergy on Monday (the only day she had it) she now has some random spots. She has them on both knees and thought it just might be a crawling rash type thing but I've noticed the odd one here and there. 2 near her mouth, one on the back of her hand. Thought she might be getting hfm but I don't think it can be because of the knees? is very weird.

Has anyone seen the video on youtube where tommcfly and his wife announce they are having a baby? Is very cheesy but I thought it was soooo cute. I think they're a lovely couple. I loved his wedding speech too. And no... I'm not some crazy mcfly fan!

YellowWellies · 31/10/2013 21:32

Pass you could rock an 18 inch skirt!
