Thanks zamb I try. My hair is wild too though most of the time! Thanks to gale force winds and soft water.

vq sit down, I have a pot of coffee! some fluffy milk and poached eggs on nimble Hmm for you. Xxx

I love to read and I still do despite oodles of children, but it just takes a long time. I have a book in my "to read" pile called beautiful ruins which was recommended to me by someone who also recommended the potatoe peeling book so you might like that.

I am reading a Jodie Picoult at the mo. I think I am Jodie Picoulted out but I have to finish a book! I am looking forward to the new Bridget Jones over chrimbo.

I am also reading ( yes I have lots on the go at same time) a book called Bread and Wine by Shauna Neiquiest. (Sp) vq might be one for you.

So last night we shuttled the boys off to bed early and I made leftover pork tacos, yum, bottle of wine, and netflix. Perfect. In bed by 9! Even more perfect. And the waking up moans and groans of son number 2 were in the foggy distance as DH got the up and has whisked them both off to Nikki's Kitchen Cafe for breakfast. But one of the best bits is that I got to have a hot shower, hair wash, hair dry Shock and my own breakfast in my own time in the quiet.

I cherish my once a week bit of solitude.

Today's question......so I want to do this diary think for the girls and send it over every two to three weeks. Is there an app that I can write on, stick photos on and then print off. Like a word document really.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/11/2013 09:35

yw always does good read recommendations! what are you reading now yw?

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 10:08

Sophia thank you for brekkie :-) Have a look at 'my wonderful days' That might fit the bill. DH gifted it to me but I have not even looked at it yet.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 10:10

GT could you pool resources and buy a property big enough for all of you and hopefully with a means to put a locked door between them and you? They sound really independent with their trips abroad. Or LTB? I think I would be tempted, although he does seem to be behaving a bit better now.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 10:14

Due to the constant risk of vomit in this house, I get the kids to nursery in my scruffs, then pop in home on the way to work for a quick shower and hair wash. About 20 mins is enough so that gives an idea of how smart I look at work. My Dad said how smart I looked the other day. I reminded him that for the last year I have been in Pjs most times I have seen him. It does not help that I have to wear crocs otherwise my lower leg and ankle hurts by the end of the day.

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2013 10:28

Sophia what about the free blog sites, can you get a secure one? Or Google docs?

ChasingDaisy · 03/11/2013 11:05

Morning all

I am excitedly planning my Christmas day trip to London with Oscar and Just Friends guy. I have decided to visit Hamleys/Regent St./Oxford St. then Trafalgar Square and finally London Eye/Southbank. Does anyone have any tips about visiting London with a baby? Hoping not to use the tube too much as everywhere is pretty walkable, although will probably tube it from Southbank back to Euston at the end of the day. Need to think of somewhere Oscar friendly for lunch too.

GTbaby · 03/11/2013 11:15

I've made it through the morning.

The house we bought can be extended to include a double story extension, which would then mean they can have 2bedrooms and a living room to themselves. But then they would be in our house! N would have to follow our rules ( well not really, but they loose the ability to say "my house ill do what I want". So they won't move in.
They own a property which extended would be bigger. But they have lived in this house for over 40years n don't want to move. Fair enough.
We are expected to stay here forever. Basically. However they have never said we can't move out. They have said they helped us buy a house and if /when we move is up to us. However FH won't leave them.

Ok better go help in kitchen. Or I'll get a sari comment

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 11:46

So GT it is FH as opposed to your ILs or Tradition that is keeping you there? I think I would leave, and give him the option to come with you if he wants to. You mentioned a duty to care for your elders - does that apply to your mum too? You sound so much happier when with your mum.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 11:47

Chasing, no advice I am afraid. I lived in London as a wild young thing. A long time ago clearly.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 14:37

Tumbleweed .......

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2013 14:44

Chasing use a sling not a buggy. Or if you do need a buggy to carry all your shopping take a £20 umbrella fold.

GT if it's FH as opposed to cultural pressure I'd say the same as VQ - you're going to live your life the way you need to, feel free to join me!

I finished the Christmas tree hat :o that's two to go to the local craft shop window, fx they sell! Now i need one for the woolly hugs fundraiser for Winston's Wish (hopefully i won't win the blanket seeing as i made the damn thing!) and one for R. Then i need to make Crochet Tiger to go with my friend's Knitted Dragon by the end of January.

GT mittens:

Ch2 6dc in 2nd from hook (6)
2dc in each st around (12)
#2dc in next st dc in next st# around (18)
Dc around to length of fore finger + 1/2" ch1 turn
Dc across (17) ch1 turn
Work 4 more rows
Ch 1 join with sl st
Dc around for 2 rows (18)
Htr ch1 sk 1 around join with sl st
Work 3 more rows, finish off
Join at thumb hole. Dc around to length of thumb + 1/4" dc2tog around, fasten off

Make 2

That's off the top of my head so add or take away rows as necessary :)

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2013 14:46

Sorry VQ that took a while to type!

ChasingDaisy · 03/11/2013 14:49

I'm here. Got my Oscar back but he's having his nap now.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 15:33

See if you're not here I end up on the bargain thread, and I cannot afford to spend any more money. But I did. On me for a change.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2013 15:34

How are the poorly puppies today? J is on top form, but DD2 is so quiet and good so she must be really ill.

PumpkinIsles · 03/11/2013 15:41

I've just had a tantrum at an old man. this is significant as I am normally a shy, retiring type. The prat had a horrible snappy terrier that was jumping up at M's pushchair, baring its teeth and snapping at her feet. Aulay, whilst not on a lead, was sat at my side (this did admittedly take a lot of 'stays' but bless him he did stay!). Anyway, this utter arseweasel started laying into me about having an out of control dog and how the wild animal should have been kept on a lead. Hello?! Your leaded animal is trying to attack my child!! I am still shaking with anger. Blush Angry

And breathe.

No advice chasing. I haven't forgotten those vintage links, will look them out when I get 5 mins on the laptop.

GT I don't know what to suggest. I just know you are a much better person than me as I could not bare 2 days in the same house as my ILs!!

PumpkinIsles · 03/11/2013 15:42

M is fine btw.

And A is currently running around the garden with half the pressure washer in his mouth. Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 03/11/2013 15:43

That's good re LO vq

My two seem ok but LO is a whiny nap dodging baby today. Teeth I think and slight fever which I am putting down to the jabs. Studying her eczema closely and it looks like a rash with some eczema zones on top of it iyswim. Going to ask the nurse at nursery's opinion on it tomorrow. Am sure it is linked to the jabs somehow. She only scratches it when her vest is off which is something.

We went to a park with lakes in it this morning for a cold walk. This afternoon watched the latest Superman film. Enjoyable as far as that kind of film goes.

StuntNun · 03/11/2013 15:51

Sorry to hear of bad days for the quiche. I wonder if it's the rotten weather making everyone a bit down as well as the other stuff going on. I have been crap at keeping up I'm afraid as we're in the run up to moving on Thursday and trying to get things sorted. The removal company are packing and moving us in one day so it's going to be hectic. I'm a bit worried about DS1 and DS2 as they will be going to school from one house then coming home to another.

Anyway a bit of good news: I had nine hours of sleep last night! 10-7:30 with a half hour feed for J in the middle. A lie in and a morning cup of tea and I felt a million dollars this morning. After four nights on my own then three nights with multiple wakenings I really needed a good night's sleep. I won't expect the same again tonight but it certainly made a nice change.

Pikz · 03/11/2013 16:30

L just had a 2 hour nap laying on his daddy and I slept for 2 hours on the other sofa. Win win as us two sick notes got rest and daddy got silent f1 catch up.

Glad to hear of better babies.

Stunt something nice my mum did for us was got us a house key cut with a key ring of our initial. Made it all a bit special.

Lily311 · 03/11/2013 18:25

Evening,
I had a fab day painting with my sister and my sister in law. Now knackered.

Happy belated birthday wishes to S. Who is next?

I started a book last night and can't wait to read again. I'm forever grateful chasing, our discussion helped me a lot. I love reading and now feel I should have never stopped.

gt I used to make cheese and ham muffins. And home made pizza Danish. Also sweetcorn fritters and potato cakes. Let me know if you are interested in the recipes, they are from the tana Ramsey cookery book.

pr the latest superman movie was sh.t. I was quite disappointed. Watched it last week.

I have tons to do next week but most importantly need to survive the visit of Leo's families. I don't like them and they announced today they were arriving on Wed. Staying till fri. Not with me but in nearby hotel. I will be decent although I don't want to be.

chasing you will be ok. London is buggy friendly. Get cartons of formula. Travel lightly, and take some toys with you to distract O on train/tube. Let others help you carry the buggy up and down the stairs.and take lots of pictures.

ChasingDaisy · 03/11/2013 18:29

Thanks Lily, Just Friends guy will be there too so he can help me with the buggy etc.

I can't believe I stayed away from reading for so long either. Thank you SmileThanks

Off out to the fireworks soon. Oscar is in bed thank goodness. He has done nothing but whinge since he got back from XP's.

PetiteRaleuse · 03/11/2013 18:33

lily sypathies re the in laws. I guess you need to weigh up the pros and cons of how much contact O will have with them, how luch contact you want her to have and how much contact she may want in the future.

If you want a book to get your teeth into my two favourites atm are The Historian by Ana Kostova and Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier. The Historian is quite hard to get into. I took it to hospital and couldn't get into it nith the meds.

Oterwise I always enjoy the Rutshire Chronicles by Jilly Cooper. Trashy bonkbustering literary junk food. Yum.

ChasingDaisy · 03/11/2013 18:35

Oh Lily, I missed that about the inlaws. Vent to me as much as you need to and just focus on surviving it.
