Happy boxing day!!

We are seemingly buried under a pile of presents DS properly spoilt as was I with a new radley handbag Grin now to work out what to do with 2 remote controlled trucks and 2train sets not to mention a work bench and a kitchen. His fave present seems to be his mega colour magnetic sketcher and an elefun from which I will now endlessly be picking crap little butterflies off the floor.

Going to the national arboretum today to work off the Xmas dinner though didn't eat or drink too much........honest Grin dh going to footie this afternoon so DS and I watching all the Xmas cartoons gruffalo, snow man and snow dog, room on the broom then getting a Chinese tonight......if we can find one that's open

Happy Boxing Day Grin

We had a fab day yesterday. All got spoilt and ate to much but round 2 at my mums today.

Sent DH to the next sale this morning and he come back with some good stuff. Best thing was a beautiful coat for Darcie.

So girls all washed, fed & dressed, now time for a shower & to get dressed myself.

Have a great day y'all!

mopsytop · 26/12/2013 13:28

Bought two dresses online in phase 8, and one in monsoon. Never online shop. Don't know what came over me! Hope they fit now!

Had nice relaxing day yesterday and lovely pressies. But minim was v cross from 2pm on... wouldn't nap, took nearly two hours of meltdown screeching to get her to sleep. Too much excitement/sugar/lack of routine. Today usual food and normal nap and all is well so far! I am on drink no. 1 of the day (cava)! Giving up in new year to prepare body for trying for baby 2. 1 glass wine a week max, loads of fruit, veg etc. Bring it on!

Happy Day of Boxes

DS is Vairy happy with his new Thomas Scooter and a Vtech "smartphone". He has also discovered a newfound talent for eating many, many roast potatoes.

OiMissus · 26/12/2013 15:16

Merry Boxing Day!
We had a fab day. Too many presents, of course. :)
We had 11 people for Xmas lunch, then we had to rush out for a party at my aunt's so the house was a MESS this morning. The Boi did not nap at all yesterday, and stayed awake until the car ride home at 9:20! He did well. He has forgotten what food is, is not interested in anything but chocolate. He is sleeping now.
We've just watched James and the giant peach. :)
It's been such hard work. DH had his hernia op on the 23rd, and can't do anything. He's v sore and swollen. So I've been running around like a mad hatter. Looking after the 2 of them and getting Christmas ready, and yesterday's meal. (Although my mum and dad did the turkey, ham and roasties).
I now must get the washing on and mop the kitchen floor...(turkey jus - it was 10.28 kilos!!!! We barely made a dent in it. Then mum n dad took it home! We have no turkey leftovers, but 3 different piles of leftover stuffing! Not good!)
After washery, I shall settle with more wine and cake. Grin
Merry Christmas y'all! Xxxxxxxxx

OiMissus · 26/12/2013 18:59

Whilst eating dinner this evening, out of the blue Boi said, "mummy's having a baby." I have no idea where this has come from. We've never discussed having a baby in front of him, nor the whole concept of how one might have a baby. Very odd.
Let's hope he knows something we don't, yet. Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 26/12/2013 19:22

Belated Merry Xmas and Happy Boxing Day to all!

Am going to read the past couple of pages and get back to you all...

hinkyhonk · 26/12/2013 19:34

Our little chaps have not slept in weeks and last night was a corker. Got about 4 hours sleep in 3 separate slots. I'm broken and then had to deal with family today. Who to be honest have been arses and royally fucked me off. What with a dh who can be bloody annoying at times what does that leave us with? Friends I guess but just moved house do don't have much in the way of them at the moment. Just a bit glum. Hey ho

hinkyhonk · 26/12/2013 19:34

Think I'm just in desperate need of a full nights sleep

OiMissus · 26/12/2013 19:55

Sleep is good. Ali slept til 2, then came in with us and slept til almost 9! Sleep us good. Although how we'll break him from sleeping with us ...
"Rod for our own backs..."...
He's wide awake now. Playing with his train set and was heard saying repeatedly to Percy, " Where's my sister?"
Shock

NorthernChinchilla · 26/12/2013 20:03

We're back from up North... a varied time I think we can say. A crisis at work managed to completely bugger up both the 'Do' on Friday, and then most of Monday as I was scuttling off into corners to take calls on complicated issues.

Met up with loads of family and friends though, and did some lovely pottering with DS- feeding the ducks, going for fish and chips, walking him to the shops and back and jumping in every puddle on the way! Was actually quite impressed, it took an hour and he was happy to walk for all that time.

The day itself was grand, bucks fizz with the prezzies, Skype some other rellies, and then a walk out.
Sadly my Mum's MH issues reared their head, and so the latter part of the day wasn't as fun...and then we had to travel back today as DP's at work tomorrow.

DS got massively spoilt though and had a fantastic time- he just wanted to be outside though, every minute and he still will not watch TV at all! Know what you mean figgy (think it was you?) about DS only eating chocolate- he even turned his nose up at pasta bolognase this evening!

How're you doing aethel, are you feeling any better? What a grim thing to have at Xmas too.

Hope your DH's doing OK post op Oi, he's the third person I know who's had a big op just before Xmas. I bet he's glad to have it done, but he's going to feel beaten up for a while. Try not to overdo it yourself having to do the work of two people.

We've got a good week to look forward to- we're off to my Dad's for a second Xmas on Saturday, for two days, and then back here on the Monday. We then have DP's best mate over on the Monday for a couple of days for New Year (albeit I'm working NYE daytime), so it'll be more merriment and Wine!

NorthernChinchilla · 26/12/2013 20:29

Hinky, sorry the family have been arses...anything specific or just generalised arsiness? Are you getting any help with the non-sleeping: could you take them one night, DH the following, just make sure you get some sleep 50% of the time?

Either way, wishing you a decent night's kip tonight.

Are you going to POAS Oi, just in case Xmas Wink?

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 26/12/2013 20:35

Oi I've seem threads on here where people have had Lo's talking about babies in mummy's tummys and it's turned out they pg oooohhhh

DS has learnt couple new things today "stop it" and "go away" ..........great Grin

mopsytop · 26/12/2013 21:37

Oh dear hinky, hope you get some sleep soon. Sleep deprivation is awful Sad

hinkyhonk · 26/12/2013 22:23

Nothing big in the scheme of life but my brother is basically consumed by his wife's family and he is laid back/ can't be arsed so I don't often see him. Plus they have some very close friends who they see ALL the time so much that it's like they've replaced my place in the family, going on family holidays with my parents and brother and spending Christmas Day with them rather my family.

Just makes me sad he can't be bothered!

On the sleep front I'm doing it solo for the next few nights as dh has to go on a stag do. Hopefully it won't be that bad?

Sorry to hear about your ma northern

OiMissus · 27/12/2013 00:02

(If I am, but I don't know yet, then the un pasteurised Roquefort and Brie, and the lashings of booze don't count, right?)

Aethelfleda · 27/12/2013 09:52

Many sympathies for sleep lack hinky, hope you get a break soon (preferably as an unexpected seven-hour stretch!)

Thanks ls for asking northern! Am pleased to report that I can now drink tea without saying "ouch", tonsils have receded, as have the nasty sweats. Fortunately it cleared up enough by Christmas day for me to enjoy things, albeit with earlier nights and less alcohol (I don't drink much anyway).
I get a bout of tonsils every 3 or 4 years but it often settles without the need for antibiotics so I generally try to sit it out. If it's getting worse a week in and my throat has exudates I then drag myself to the docs and try to look brave-but-plaintive. Oh the fun.

DH has gone into work for a half day so it's time to tidy in between reading DS a "book-book-book-book" or ten. New obsession :)

NorthernChinchilla · 27/12/2013 09:54

Absolutely not Oi! now go and POAS woman

So today it's me and DS... I have to unpack all the Xmas presents and week away's washing/clothes etc; the do the washing, and put this and the presents etc, away; then get our bombsite tidy and clean as we're away from tomorrow and have our guest arriving as soon as we're back.

Plus I've got to walk to the vets with DS and a chin with a dodgy foot in the storms.

I think DP has it easy being at work on call-out!

NorthernChinchilla · 27/12/2013 09:56

X-post aethel! Glad you're on the mend, and snap on the exciting day Xmas Confused

OiMissus · 27/12/2013 11:12

Glad you're feeling better Aethel.
And I hear you re the tidying Northern...Hmm
There's so much I want to get done, but it's Friday already, and 11:10, and I'm still in my pj's.
DH is trying to put on a brave face but he's in pain, poor thing.
Boi's imagination is really coming on. He's playing with his trains and Fireman Sam and Tom, they all have different voices talking to each other.Grin

FalalalalalalaFiggy · 27/12/2013 12:33

God help us another 10 days before go back to work and DS is driving me mad he's asking for food all the time but will only eat crap, he's throwing, hitting, grabbing and generally being obnoxious. Dh and I just shouting at him because he won't listen or stop then he cries and I feel awful Hmm

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 27/12/2013 13:22

We go home tomorrow. FIL has taught DS tp to play American Football; he picks up any object and yells 'hut! Hut! Hut!' Before lobbing it at your head. And we have hitting, pinching and biting again. But only me. Too many sweets, toys and grandparents have turned him a bit obnoxious. Staying with my parents at the minute and he's calmed down as they're much more chilled out and he's terrified of their dog.

I've just washed down a turkey and stuffing sandwich with half a tub of quality stretch while DS sleeps on top of DH. On phone so will do proper catch up tomorrow.

NorthernChinchilla · 27/12/2013 13:56

Oh dear Bob...

NB- our stair gate at the top of the stairs is broken- the fixing had come off the wall.

I'd just put DS down for his nap in his cot, and heard him playing with his books, and then chattering. Then thought, that chattering doesn't sound right.

Exit living room to find DS at the top of the stairs, thankfully amused by a peg with a ladybird on it.

Somehow, the little sod has levitated? ninja stylee leapt? gotten over and out of his cot, and then wandered out of his room to the top of the stairs.

I think what's happened is that he's somehow big enough to climb out of the cot onto the unit next to it, and jump down. I tried putting him back in you see, and this time there was a thump.... he's now asleep in the low double bed in his room with the door tied shut.

And of course we're going away and then have visitors, so what we're going to do, and when we're going to do it, remains a mystery...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAargh!

mopsytop · 27/12/2013 14:09

Minimopsy basically been having a tantrum since midday. My head is fried. In her cot screeching her face off. I'm sitting on stairs with thumping headache.

mopsytop · 27/12/2013 14:17

I am at end of rope. Don't know what to do to calm her. She is hysterical.
