DS had that awful
Cold temp and cough thing last week every small child I know seems to have had it.

Xmas party tonight so just chilling out today DS been swimming but still feel guilty for not taking him out and entertaining him this afternoon too. Even if he is quite happy running his puzzles over with his car......again Blush

Aethelfleda · 29/11/2013 14:56

Ahem.... We found out what all the grumpy lolly love was about...DS was sent home from nursery today with Hand/foot/mouth (oops! Blush )
I had been checking him as was a bit suspicious, thought he was ok this morning, and then got recalled as he came out in spots on his hands. And lo when I picked him up half an hour later they were definitely HFM. Nursery were v nice about it, I felt a numpty for not noticing this morning!

Glad Boi was ok oi, I wasn't online last night!

xiao is OK Northern, she's lurking/taking a bit of time offthread as her work is still busy and DS2 has been very colicky (though she's now off the dairy when BFing, which does seem to be helping. Means I can't bribe her with cake as easily though!) am sure she'll be back at some point, pretty sure there is lurking going on so you can always PM her. Oh and don't mention Nannygate to her, she has a lovely one now but it was at one point a bit pearshaped which didn't help any!

Aethelfleda · 30/11/2013 10:56

Whoah, I broke the thread!

mopsytop · 30/11/2013 11:42

Aethelfleda · 01/12/2013 10:06

Next thread: where we all lurk and try to survive the festvities....

dDs are clamouring to decorate the house with Christmassy things. I have caved and retrieved the box of tinsel.....

TheOnlySeven · 01/12/2013 10:43

We won't need another thread before Christmas if we all keep lurking. I'm embracing Christmas, I've been on threads in the Christmas section since October. me and DS are wearing our Christmas jumpers, and DD2 is mrs Christmas today. We're putting up the tree on Tuesday, eek!

Figgygal · 01/12/2013 11:36

I've got my Christmas Jumper on toDay too this afternoon DS has party at my work bouncy castles soft play disco party games and of course Santa and a full grotto and he gets a gift from Santa can't wait!! Lots of party food too.

I tried getting a Christmas jumper today for him as there is supposed to be a fancy dress but couldn't find one I have quite spectacular one.

He has given up on fruit every time I give him some it's like I'm trying to poison him. The only thing he will still eat is bananas which bung him up.

BobaFetaCheese · 01/12/2013 12:34

Lurking here.

DS1 & 2 are both full of cold, I've had to wipe DS1's nose once in his life before this week, now he's learnt to wipe it on my trousers so I don't have to touch the snot.

We're not bothering with Christmas/Birthday this year (have presents but no decs/big events)...although I bought DS1 some fairy lights in Tesco and he's amazed by them, best 90p ever spent.

Aethelfleda · 01/12/2013 14:44

Top Chrimbo safety tip from this end for all you with mobile older children: Wilkinson's sell little sets of battery-operated LED fairy lights for £3,50 (plain lights) to £5 (light-up-disco-ball-stylee). They have batteries included and are FAB for blinging up a scooter/rideon. Just use duct tape to attatch the wires and tape the onn/off box somewhere reachable.
My DDs scoot to/from school regularly with me and I feel a lot safer when they are literally lit up like a Christmas tree!

Faffin · 01/12/2013 17:41

Trying to distract from the kitchen stuff by getting festive. Trees bought and decorated today [tchsmile]

figgy I got DS a red jumper with a snowman on from Tesco

Figgygal · 02/12/2013 13:08

While we are all lurking here is a funny stoy from the weekend with DS at my works kids xmas party yesterday.
One of our meeting rooms had been made into a grotto and we had to wait to see Santa at 3.30 yesterday but they were running late so had to entertain DS in the waiting area of the grotto for 15 minutes. When we went to see Santa finally he was the best santa i have ever seen (Beard spot on!! Lovely booming voice) and as we went in as a group of 5 kids and adults he spoke to all of them, gave them a present and then asked who wanted a picture. One little girl went up and was having her pic taken with santa and his elf and DS was pulling at me for him to go up but i held him back and when it was his turn he wandered up to Santa...........gave him back his present and then turned on his heels and ran out of the grotto Smile. He clearly didnt get the concept and i had to retrieve his gift, santa offered for me to bring him back for his picture but he was clearly done with the santa experience for the day and wanted back to the disco.

On another positive i won a bottle of wine for the xmas jumper competition .......i didnt even enter it in the end as DS wouldnt come out of the softplay section but the jumper was so spectacular they sought me out with it.

Off back to lurking working

SantasOnlyMistress · 02/12/2013 14:56

Well done with the jumper figgy.

It's seven btw, I could t contain my festive-ness any longer!

thekatsatonthematt · 02/12/2013 17:16

That jumper IS spectacular figgy

Our xmas jumpers arrived on Saturday. Ds has been bought one by his cousin (a next one with santa on), dd has 2 (!) both from Granny (a pink one with a reindeer frpm tesco and a little cardy from next that is beyond adorable) so I ordered myself and dh ones from tesco.

I don't shop at tesco anymore (every other supermarket in thw world is within walking diatance) and had £50+ in clubcard vouchers to spend. So did the boost thing and for the huge sum of £1 managed to get dh two work shirts, 10 pairs of socks, 3 boxer shorts, a xmas jumper with a tree on (which plays jingle bells) and a ho ho ho jumper for me.

Impressive? Even more so that when it arrived the package included a cardigan that I hadn't ordered or paid for. And doesn't appear on the invoice.

Shame it is size 22.....

thekatsatonthematt · 02/12/2013 17:17

Oh and I still have £25 of vouchers left.

mopsytop · 02/12/2013 18:29

Finished writing last two lectures of semester. Only need to plan seminars for next week now. Of course, as soon as term ends I've to prepare an application for a permanent job that's come up in another city, then fifty 2000 word essays to correct and grade (ugh) then, after Christmas, I've a book chapter due mid January, an hour long paper to prepare for late January, another project I need to at least start and send away for approval, about 150 exam scripts to mark, and new lectures to prepare for the next semester which starts last week in January and I haven't a word of a lecture started yet. I fear I won't be having much festive fun. I'm glad to be working but I wish it was less crazy Sad

On the plus side, during lunch breaks on Friday and today I got all of Mr. Mopsy's presents sorted yay ... plenty of time I hope for them all to arrive. Also got an etch a sketch thing you can draw on with a pen thing and then erase for minim today, plus a v cool tractor at the weekend and also the cutest mini plush mouse that sleeps in a matchbox oonr today too. Also got her bday pressie sorted (cool yellow enamel mug with cats on it, new books and a new cutlery set). Very pleased.

No festive clothes though I'm afraid!

Hope you're all well.

BobaFetaCheese · 02/12/2013 18:56

Arf at Xmas jumper playing a tune Kat, do you think they took pity on you and included the size 22 cardi as a hint for you to cover up the xmas tree? Grin

for mopsy, I'm tired just reading what you're upto at work.

Well done on the fab jumper figgy, and the bottle of wine, result!

)don't read this next bit when eating, involves snot) DS1 has learnt that he can stick his finger up his runny nose and wipe it on the wall. He truly is the gift that keeps on giving?
How long do colds last for? He's been runny since Wednesday & I'm getting pretty close to leaving him in the food bank donation box...

mopsytop · 02/12/2013 19:21

Haha your snot post made me lol Boba

Aethelfleda · 02/12/2013 20:55

DS was bouncybouncybouncybouncy today. I shall rename him Tigger.

NorthernChinchilla · 02/12/2013 21:15

Ha! The snot is the joy that keeps on giving Boba, DS is is getting huuuuuuuuuuuge bogies that I love ferretting out sorry, I know it's gross and wrong but I don't care but thankfully not the dribbly type. In terms of length, I think September to April inclusive is about the average for a toddler cold Wink

Poor you mopsy, that is not what you want to be staring down at Xmas time, that's immense. And isn't it crap when people tell you to prioritise, and it's a case of it's all bloody important and all has to be finished at the same time!

We've had our Xmas break, had a wonderful and alcoholic time, and have presents for everyone except about 2/3rds of both DS' and DP's to get. Really pleased with the effort.

Not so great on the house though. When we viewed it, they said the loft room wasn't BR, owing to the hight and ladder, but those were the only reason it wasn't classifiable as a bedroom. Fine. We have now asked them, for a third time, for details about it- this time we actually wrote to say we're not bothered about the BR, just let us know what work was done- eg joists, insulation, etc- so we can be sure it's safe, and get an indemnity.

So we wait two weeks, and they've written back to say they're not going to comply with our requests.

This is not looking good. I have now gone via the EA to say can they just tell us if the damn floor has been strengthened.

So do we drop out and lose our buyer or go into rented? Or do we go ahead with a house which is perfect in every other way? Xmas Sad

hinkyhonk · 02/12/2013 21:46

Must just tell you all about the time I was talking to the plumber a couple of weeks ago whilst holding f. He started feeding me something which I absent mindedly ate then wondered where he had got food from - yep it was a chunk of snot... Nice
