As I so frivolously finished the last thread, I thought I'd better start a new one. Go!

Hello All

Apologies for lame name change didn't want to waste my one remaining brain cell

DD2 is back on the sick, bronchiolitis again, poor things sounds like she has a 80 a day habit. Sleep has been horrendous and she's not eating but as i think poly said "hurrah for tits'

Still trying to get xmas presents organised but I keep getting sidetracked, yesterday's purchase was a stand mixer obviously justified but my twice yearly cake making Blush. Also need to purchase a dress for friends birthday/engagement party, why is it you never find anything when you actually need it!

No tree here yet, going to get DH to get it down when he gets back later. DD1 wants a real one but Lois is going to be a nightmare.

Also need to find someone to come and wrap my presents, might coerce a friend into helping with the promise of wine and food.

Apples, yay on Ivy's big step Grin

Pascha, good luck for your lunch

Bunty, feel your pain but remember period calories don't count!

BuntyandherMassiveGlitteryCoil · 10/12/2013 12:07

THANK YOU, pascha!

Seriously, you've made me feel tons better! I'd be happy to keep going on two feeds a day. Able to wear proper bras when out and about, but still have my lovely snuggles at night = perfect. Have a lovely lunch. Thanks

I decided I'd just roll with my inadvertant name change, so now I have a massive glittery coil.

I love my mooncup. It is taking a bit of getting used to, but then it has been ages since I last had to use it, but it is so much better than tampons. I have less cramps, and weirdly, I quite like seeing what's going out. Makes it easier to measure loss, too. Also, none of that horrid sahara dry fanjo, as you still have natural lubrication, unlike tampons which soak up every bit of moisture in you.

Question: We have a lovely postie. He goes out of his way to ask about C when he delivers any packages, as he knows she has been a poor sleeper/ill. He's nice to our kids when they see him. I'd like to give him something for Christmas; would a home baked cake be weird? Nice?

Oh, lost, I hope DD2 feels better soon. :( 'Tis the season for poorly babies I think. I am desperately trying to stick to diet, despite urges for total stodge.

Had a donut and a massive cupcake yesterday. Willpower shot to fuck.

Pascha · 10/12/2013 12:19

You're going to get some funny looks on the other boards Xmas Grin Wear your name with Pride!

I usually give our postie a bottle of wine but a homemade cake is probably very welcome. I'm currently stuffing down fresh-out-the-oven mince pies. Yum.

May use my boots points for a mooncup then.

Pascha · 10/12/2013 12:22

Hello Lost. Poor DD, hope she starts sounding better soon. We don't want any ill littlies for christmas do we? I could send DH round to wrap your presents if you like? He approached ours with a set-square and a steely expression. I stay well away and feed him beer at intervals...

AngelHairAngielka · 10/12/2013 12:53

Ooh, I'm another one who's only just started using a mooncup - total convert. Brilliant invention, although I've got piles of tampons taking up cupboard space in the bathroom Xmas Hmm

I also have a coil. Not a big glittery one either Xmas Sad but one that does the job and lets me put two fingers up at the pill. I was crap at remembering to take it.

DH works form home on tuesdays. This morning Molly was in her highchair while he worked and I popped out the room for something. When I came back, DH said M had got both hands on the table, one knee on her tray and the other leg just coming out of her highchair before he noticed something was up Xmas Shock She's a little monkey!

octanegirl · 10/12/2013 13:47

Ugh. Full of cold here as is LO. Paracetamol is my friend.
I have temporary standing - maybe 4/5 seconds, but only if I put him down in a standing position. He looks terribly pleased with himself and then sinks to the floor and scoots off.

glorious · 10/12/2013 21:32

Hello all, I've been away for a few days as I'm in Dorset with a friend and her baby and it's been quite hectic! But fun Smile

pascha your DH can do our presents. We always wrap to carols, mulled wine and mince pies, would that do?!

lollipoppi · 10/12/2013 21:33

Lost hope DD is better soon, hopefully she is getting all the illness out of the way before Christmas

Bunty I think that sounds like a lovely idea Smile

Our Christmas tree has gone up tonight, DD hasn't seen it yet, DP has tied it up so it can't get pulled down, but I don't doubt that DD will probably end up as the angel at the top of the tree by tomorrow

Pascha · 10/12/2013 21:42

You're welcome to him, Glorious. He's in a right grump this evening due to customers being troublesome. You can listen to it all sympathetically instead of me for once Wine.

Octane load up on the drugs and go to bed, hope you feel better in the morning.

Still cogitating a christmas name...

Lostbaubles · 11/12/2013 09:43

DD2 has this morning thrown all the proper shapes from the shape sorter and had found a domino that fits all spaces!!!

Lostbaubles · 11/12/2013 09:43

*has

octanegirl · 11/12/2013 18:43

More standing! About 15 seconds at a time! He looks utterly shocked and does Bollywood hand movements. It is so cute. How can babies be SO cute?

AngelHairAngielka · 11/12/2013 19:16

Sounds adorable octane Xmas Smile what a clever boy! We only have standing when Molly forgets to hold on, and it only lasts a split second. My fave cute thing is the 'elloooo' and waving Molly does whenever anyone new comes into the room. I LOVE it.

TheHollyandtheIvyCrumples · 11/12/2013 21:15

octane and angie they are just so yummy at this age!

We have been out at dcs christmas concerts, too many late nights so we are all shattered! Ivy was more interested in the music teacher waving her arms to conduct and just kept staring at her and trying to pull curtains down, and flipping herself off my lap and pulling chairs in front of us and..

Tonight she just clapped the whole way through! HS been lovely though seeing them do their shows

Think she has developed a funny latch as my right nipple is in agony after a feed! We are generallt down to 3 bf a day and in a stand off at night as i am refusing overnight feeds again Don't want to quit yet but its bloody painful

AngelHairAngielka · 12/12/2013 08:08

Oh I've caved again and we have re-started night feeds after about three weeks of sleeping through without any. I was feeling so lovely and rested and now the bags under my eyes are back. She screams bloody murder makes such a fuss when DH goes to her and calms down as soon as she's in my arms, until she realises I'm not feeding her then looks at me as if to say 'what are you waiting for?'

DD1 was sleeping through long before this and didn't need night feeds but Molly's such a snuggler. Don't really want to keep doing night feeds but on the other hand she's growing so fast I'm kind of holding onto my baby being a baby a bit longer. I think it's teeth again, so I'll just keep my head in the sand a bit longer and hope it passes on its own. DD1 was ready to stop bfing at one, but not sure we'll be in the same position with this one.

Xmas Hmm
meringuesnowflakes33 · 12/12/2013 13:46

So has everyone done their Christmas shopping yet? I'm stumped for something to get MIL. Got my mum some lovely earrings but have a nagging feeling I might have got her exactly the same ones last birthday.

Seriously tired today! Can't wait for it to be Christmas morning and just sitting relaxing watching him enjoy playing with the wrapping Xmas Grin.

Bunty/Pascha I had a mooncup but even the bigger size doesn't seem to stay in post-childbirth Hmm Blush

Turkeybirdiewithcranberrysauce · 12/12/2013 14:17

Hmm I would be scared of trying a mooncup for the same reason meringue! Not sure I want to know if I have a large one haha!

Surely people must feel them when they're in though if not as far up as a tampon?

angiel maybe she's just having a growth spurt? I did a night feed last night too though, I never try hard enough not to really.

How are all the poorly mums and babies today?

I'm trying to do an Amazon wishlist for X as a few people have asked what she would like, but slightly ashamed to say I can't think of anything DD1 doesn't already have. Does anyone know of any really good toys for a 1 year old around £20-30 that maybe I haven't thought of?

CreepyCrawly · 12/12/2013 18:46

lost, that is excellent! I'd probably do the same haha.

Yay on all the standing! Nancy's let go a few times but only for a couple of seconds.

We're still on night feeds too. But I'm also telling myself that she's not small for long so enjoying the cuddles.

Went to see my boss today. I go back to work on the 21st of Jan, for 1 day a week to start. And I'll be given easy people (I'm mental health support worker) to get me back in to the swing of things. I get 3 weeks holiday pay in a week too so that'll be a nice top up!

Hope everyone's had a nice day. DH's birthday so cake ahoy!

BuntyandherMassiveGlitteryCoil · 12/12/2013 20:41

I did find it hard to get back to grips with, but the trick is to place is low down when you're popping it in. The fanny muscles then kind of suck it up to the right position. To be honest, though, I'm still not as good as I used to be with t and don't always get it in the right position first time. There have been a few times I've felt it poking me! Day 4 of use and it's definitely getting easier again!

It has freaked me out how heavy this period has been. Day 2 I lost around about 100ml Shock - average over a whole period is apparently only 30-40.

Anyways. Toys - I got this from home bargains a whole back and it was £25. Dd plays with it at baby sensory and adores it.

Turkeybirdiewithcranberrysauce · 12/12/2013 22:07

Thanks bunty but got one already damn it. Managed to get one really cheaply off ebay. I also got the idea from baby sensory! Have come up with something though, a little people sweet sounds house.

My periods are still all over the place. And my milk supply definitely drops which throws out meal times and things as I do extra bfs to compensate.

Hope DH had a nice birthday creepy and hope you ate lots of cake.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 13/12/2013 09:32

Hi all, sorry I've not posted much lately - I have been reading and keeping up though. So many standing babies! DS looks like he has the balance but not the confidence, I think I'll have crawling for a little while longer yet.

Present wise we've bought him a toot toot drivers set and a scout toy as his main presents. Can't remember who was asking now but what about adding to existing sets like brio or duplo? Must be hard when they have older siblings until they're old enough to say what they want!

Making slow progress with sleep now. GP have the health visitor a kick up the backside and she's now coming weekly to try and get it cracked. Feel as though I'm being listened to for the first time which Is lovely.

I'm trying to declutter the house. I need to do under the bed but I'm too scared of the massive spider that lives under there!

Turkeybirdiewithcranberrysauce · 13/12/2013 09:38

Had Christmas card from neighbour: To DH, me, DD1 and....."Xthena". Same letters, wrong order hehe. And the other neighbours (slightly deaf and in their 80s) asked her name when she was born and when I told them they said "ooh Daphne, lovely". Am quite looking forward to getting their card now too!

Turkeybirdiewithcranberrysauce · 13/12/2013 09:39

Just read your post cupcakes, glad you are being listened to now. And thanks for pressie ideas!

CreepyCrawly · 13/12/2013 12:51

On the Christmas present front, we've got her: a hand puppet, some books, a cuddly toy that matches one of the books, some 'hide and squeak' eggs, an activity cube and a Violet teddy thing. Same as the Scout, but Nancy's middle name is Scout so we went for Violet.

My parents are having a framed photo of Nancy and my sister's youngest together, and some posh biscuits. DH sorts his side out (thank god!)

Does anyone shop in Aldi and find the trolley seats awful?! They're so big, Nancy was almost standing up so many times. I had to carry her eventually.

Pascha · 13/12/2013 18:14

I've just been singing very very loudly along to What the Ladybird Heard while Dan ate his dinner. Perfect way to pick my spirits up at the end of the day - The Cow said MOO and the Hen said CLUCK, HISS said the goose and QUAAAACK said the Duck - in the lovely tones of Alexander Armstrong of all people.

Brilliant.
