Oh dear Sunny. Strong coffee and matchsticks?

FYI there's a thread just started in Sleep about using the No Cry Sleep Solution book...

Another awake squealer at six here. Why child why?

The thing that is truly doing my head in at the moment is poo break throughs. Every morning she's pooed through her nappy. Could be nappy too small or clothes too small. What size are you lot on? We are size three and busting out of 3-6. Reckon we will need to move up a clothes size soon!

MrsBri · 30/10/2013 08:56

I'd go up a nappy size, Sarah. We only have escaping poo when it's time to move up a level!

We're still in size 3 for now, but it won't be long til 4 (which means we have to start to buy them as we hoarded up to 3 pre-pregnancy!). We're also squeezing into 3-6 month clothing. A lot of tops don't fit and most dresses are too short!

Amy was in her own room last night. It's a shame trapped wind woke her at 2.30 as she would have slept for 5 hours. She's only just waking now really, so must be comfy. Nothing is stopping her overnight hunger though. Ah well!

MrsBri · 30/10/2013 08:57

5 hours between feeds that is. That post doesn't make much sense reading it back!

SunnyL · 30/10/2013 09:06

Managed to get her back to sleep for an hour in my bed. Of course by that point I was wide awake so yes - please pass the matchsticks.

We have nappy leakages but only wee. I think it's more to do with the fact it holds 2 bottles and 3 boobs by morning and they're just not designed to hold that much wee. If her sleep pattern would go back to normal it wouldnt be an issue.

We're still wearing quite a few 0-3 month dresses but that's because she is a skinny but tall minny. We had to move into the 3-6 month vests last month and she's already making them look short and is nipple flashing in off the shoulder numbers.

We're in size 3 nappies and mostly 3-6m clothes plus a few 0-3m still.

I got some vest "extenders" off Amazon that essentially add a bit of length to the body. Works well with the reusable nappies cause he's artificially longer in body then (but not wider or longer in arm!)

Sarah2506 · 30/10/2013 09:33

Has anyone rocked up at Boots and asked them to change nappy sizes?? I'm hoping they would if it's all unopened right?

Report
Sarah2506 · 30/10/2013 09:34

Though saying that I reckon clothes have a lot to do with it- if you have to wrench the poppers shut then it kind of pushes the poo up I think!

Report
hedgehogy · 30/10/2013 10:39

We're in size 4 nappies and 3-6mth clothes. Size 4+ (Pampers active fit) hold more wee than just 4, useful for overnight.

Report
hedgehogy · 30/10/2013 10:42

I've noticed that there is a variation in size of clothes between brands (i.e. m&s sizing seems to be more generous).

Report
MrsBri · 30/10/2013 11:06

That's true, Sarah. I didn't think about the popper / poo correlation!

Yes to the first nap Aloha it's exactly the same here. Push the first nap too late and the whole daytime sleep just falls apart.

We've still got 2-hourly wakeups BUT I'm managing to occasionally get him back to sleep without feeding. So last night there was a 4 hour stretch between feeds (although one wakeup in between, teething gel given & back to sleep). So I'm really hoping we're coming through this now!

I've also been introducing a bedtime routine. Previously Z would go to bed at the same time as us, with evening naps downstairs with us. However more and more he was just staying awake in the evening (maybe noticing that his brother was in bed and he'd get undivided attention from us??) despite being tired and just getting more and more grumpy.

So now once DS1 is in bed, I start the bedtime routine for DS2 and he happily goes to sleep (done it 3 evenings so far). His naps downstairs are never longer than 45 minutes, but when I put him to bed upstairs in our bed he goes for longer, so I hope he keeps this up, because I feel a lot more myself when I get some time to do my own thing in the evening!! Dream feed him when we go to bed which goes OK as well.

I try to avoid changing his nappy once he's gone down for bed, but it does mean he looks like he's got a pumpkin under his nappy there are so many boosters. Overnight I put him in a bamboo nappy with two folded up boosters at the front, which just about lasts 12 hours.

We're going on a week's holiday on Saturday to a cottage in Herefordshire. Looking forward to it a lot, although no idea how we'll get everything we need in the car...

Feeling I've been hit by a bus today. Guessing its a cold type thing, which in turn has flared my asthma and just sitting up makes me out of breathe Hmm

Had a gas inspection the landlord sorted this morning at 9.30 - the gas man turned up at 9 Blush was here till 10.30 and managed to wake dd from her nap Angry which then led to a screaming fit I could have done without.

Size 3 nappies here. Quite a fan of asda little angle ones, good price and nice quality and last dd all night. Very few escapes of anything probably shouldn't have said that
We still have a mis of clothes here. Vests are now 3-6 as are sleep suits, but they have length left in them. Some outfits/dresses are still 0-3. She was in tiny baby for so long, I think she is on the small side, although no ones said anything so I just go with it.

Dd currently having a lovely play and roll around on her play mat, looking forward to afternoon nap time!

We are size 3 nappies too, and 3-6 mths clothes ( with some 0-3 Next sleep suits still fitting). He is v long but quite slim. He can roll from back to front quite comfortably, but not the other way! No teeth yet!
I'm glad that we are not the only ones struggling with sleep. Keir usually sleeps v little during the day and then only when we are out and he's in the pram. At night I've moved his routine back by an hour when the clocks changed so we start at 6pm with bath, stories, feed and he's asleep by 7. We generally get until around midnight for the first sleep, and then have an awakening at 3.30ish then maybe 6 and 730. I know 5 hours is technically sleeping through but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it. At least we now have an evening though, and are watching Sopranos box sets!
Hope you feel better, pink. That sounds like a tough start to the day Brew Thanks

M is in size 4 nappies and has been for a while. He's also just gone into 6-9m clothes, and the sleepsuits we have (all 2 of them Hmm) seem snug already.

In other news, I have a stitched-together DH after he fell up an escalator yesterday when he was running for a train. Obviously he spent an hour getting home with blood dribbling down his leg before bothering a&e with it...

Oh dear, hope your dh heals soon Rue!

We're in size 3s (as of this week) and 3-6 clothes. I suspect once our cloth nappies are out of storage in a few weeks we might have to move up a clothes size.

Size 3 her too but he is a skinny minnie ! We have rolling both ways a plenty but no attempt to sit, he can stay upright for a few seconds if I prop him up to start with.. You can see he is desperate to crawl but thankfully not there yet.

We're still in size 2 but think we're going up when we need more also in 3-6 mths clothes with a few 0-3 so not doing to bad Grin

How early can they crawl? Keir is v frustrated and clearly wants to be on the move. Tell me we've got another few months before we need to baby proof the house!!

3 hours sleep. Id like to dedicate my exhaustion to the new thermostat and my employers.

The thermostat for heating the house to 27 degrees when I set it to 14 that meant i was up at 1am turning off all the radiators and opening windows. And being pissed off at DH who wouldnt look at the new thermostat when i asked him.

My employers who say I can come back to work in January but I dont have a desk as they gave it to a junior staff member on a temp contract. Instead I can hot desk. No actually I think you'll find I'll just work from home.

Morocco! Sunny & warm. J travelled like a dream and celebrated by delivering his first tooth. Second looks imminent. Nothing unusual bar some pink cheeks. He's a trooper. Sleeping improving too, am SO glad we've not swapped time zones on this trip.

Def in 3-6month clothes here & like others have said the sleep suits don't seem roomy. Number 4 nappies have been in place (We use Sainsburys brand ones) since we got back from Australia with immediate reduction in number of shitty exploding blowouts. Lesson learnt & I won't try keeping him in smaller ones next time.

Farley rusks are go, J can't get enough of them. Also finding rice porridge (not the super smooth stuff, and not made up runny, is better nice & gluggy. Babies are weird) v popular and a little bit before bed seems to keep him v settled.

Ok off to enjoy our sunny private pool where I can wobble about in post-natal fatness without a worry. No one to watch me! Aces.

Sunbeam my older 2 kids have both crawled at about 6.5 months.

Actually, that's only a month away, argh! M can get himself up on his knees, and this afternoon managed to dig his toes into the carpet and move forwards maybe a couple of inches Shock I'm so not ready for him to actually move!

Also, he's definitely enjoying weaning - so far he's tried apple, plum, and avocado. Enthusiastic response to everything so far. Lunchtime today, he sat on DH's knee but didn't have any food. Clearly this was wrong, when DH leaned forwards to pass something to DS1, M leant forward and nicked 2 slices of toast off his plate :o Have carrots, cauli and broccoli lined up for the next couple of days.

Thanks, Rue - that would give me 2 months! Fantastic on the weaning - sounds like M is doing really well.

20 minutes ago I sat down to type something here but then I knocked a glass of orange juice all over my desk Sad Biggest victims are my lovely watersoluble oil pastels although with some drying time I hope they'll be OK. Narrowly missed the laptop so that's good!!

It was our 5 year wedding anniversary yesterday so we went out for a fancy meal. Wow it was SO NICE to have a few hours of time to ourselves, talking, reconnecting. Coming back to two kids after going out though I compared to coming back to 500 emails after a holiday.

DS2 was crying, which was sorted out immediately by being held by DH and me. So we went to bed, but before we were done getting ready DS1 woke up absolutely inconsolable. Held him for ages, tried to resettle him, no luck. By this time DS2 was crying again as I still hadn't managed to boob him. Finally DS1 came in bed with us (so 4 of us all in the bed). All fiiiiinally went to sleep. Woke up around 1am because DS1 was kicking us all in the nuts/stomach/back. So DH went to settle him back in his own bed, luckily successfully, but he did end up waking up another 2 times in the night crying. Poor thing. He usually sleeps through but he obviously took us going out very hard.

Having written all of this though, I have to say I actually really quite like being needed so much by them, and being so important to them. Sometimes it's relentless and too much (especially middle of the night!) but overall I love that we're so important to them and that no one else will do.
