I broke the old thread! Step this way, step this way.

Aw Hawk that's great that it went well. I've just polished my boots in preparation for tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I wore polished shoes. I might be over thinking it....

And I highly recommend a decent necklace. Although mine isn't a breastfeeding necklace I've got one with a very strong chain and it keeps the little mischief amused when feeding, playing, in the bath, making porridge etc etc.

AlohaMama · 06/01/2014 21:47

Good luck sunny and glad your work went well hawk.

Thanks rreow. We only stuck it out a day then have up again. Ds just would not pee on the potty. He'd sit on it and read stories and do nothing then give mins later pee. I also started feeling he was getting very negative about it, and not want to go on the potty so I didn't wasn't to push it. He didn't lime the wet trousers so begged me to put a nappy on. I think he was also embarrassed or ashamed as he'd hide when doing a poo and then deny it. I think I'd rather wait as people seem to suggest if they are ready it will click and take just a couple of days and I'd rather than than flogging s dead horse for weeks and months.

First steps here to going back to work. Ds starts nursery tomorrow for 2 days bya week, which shouldgive me time to get my CV up to date hopefully. If dd keeps to her nap schedule that will buy me a couple of hours each day. It will be weird though as I've kind of got used to this sahm thing.

With the weaning has anyone noticed a drop in milk feeds yet? E is so distracted now she doesn't feed that well in the day anymore and I'm partly wondering if its partly due to being less hungry for milk. Morning and evenings aren't so bad as there is less going on but in the day once she's had a bit all she does is crane her head back to look around and see what is going on. Useless!

Sorry to hear about your brother sarah, sounds really tough.

pinkbear82 · 07/01/2014 08:21

Thanks everyone.

Sarah I hope all goes well with your brother. Must be really hard for you all.

Hawk - hot tea?! What is this you talk of?!

Sunny hope all goes well today.

Dd was 7 months yesterday, where has that time gone?! She is currently still snoozing after a mammoth thunder storm, she slept through the thunder but when the heavy rain started she woke up screaming :/
We still have no teeth, lots if bumps on gums but no actual teeth. Lots of chewing and a river of dribble so presuming it won't be long.

rrreow · 07/01/2014 13:33

Aloha flogging a dead horse Grin love the English language. But yes that was my thought too. And don't want to build up negative associations.

Z also doesn't feed much in the day anymore. He's into his food (he's actually able to put food in his mouth now and is swallowing stuff) and just so distracted during the day, especially if DS1 is around. He's making up for it during the night though. Hmm

I've been working pretty much full time again since just before Christmas. DS1 is at nursery and DS2 is being looked after in our home. I work from home, so it's great. I get to breastfeed him and have a cuddle when he (and I!) needs it, but get plenty of time to get work done.

And rather excitingly, after running our business for 7 years, I'm now in the position to take 1 day a week as 'personal development time'. I'll be working on my art (mixed media painting) and launching a blog.

pinkapples · 07/01/2014 19:26

Ohhhh all very exciting with people going back to work Grin

Aloha Theiah hasn't dropped feeds yet but is taking less she is now eating breakfast lunch+pudding and dinner+pudding with feeds at 10 and 2pm then one in the morning and one before bed which I imagine will stay pretty much the same for another couple of months now until we drop the feeds and go to 1 sleep

Finally got what we wanted from the doctors today with a referral to see a specialist for Theiah's skin GrinGrinGrin so happy that we may actually get this sorted!

Sunbeam18 · 07/01/2014 21:36

Yikes, it's happened - I got made redundant today. Feel remarkably ok about it at the moment as I'll get a year's salary which should give time to find something suitable part time. Yikes though...

SunnyL · 08/01/2014 06:53

Well first day back was actually quite enjoyable. Today might be a bit tougher as DH is already at work so have to get the dog walked as well as getting Lil and myself up to nursery.

Sunbeam that actually sounds like a good opportunity. Are there similar jobs to yours out there? We had redundancies a couple of years ago and I dodged the bullet. Considering there are only two companies in Scotland that do what I do I was very relieved.

Mrs81 · 08/01/2014 07:58

Pinkappkes - that's brilliant. Hope they can sort things out for you

Sunbeam - it must be a weird feeling. Good to be able to take your time with it though Smile

Sunny - glad the first day went well. Good luck with this am!

(I'm on my phone and can't remember any further back, sorry!!)

A question:
DS still, more often than not, has spells of distress at night, complete with screaming and tears. He's been doing this for the last 3-4wks. He's also much more farty since we started weaning (though poo has remained "fluid"). I can't work out if it's a- a natural stage of weaning b- prolonged teething or c- something we should be trying to get guidance with. It's so sad to see him in such pain & we are all knackered Sad
What do you wise ladies think?

Hawkmoth · 08/01/2014 09:06

We were all very unhappy last night. She's due a poo massive shit and was up until ten to three. Up again at six and came in bed with me. I've just prodded her awake to feed her before work, thankfully on half days this week.

We are not friends!

SunnyL · 09/01/2014 06:59

Mrs81 I'm afraid I have no pearls of wisdom for you just sympathy. Perhaps a trip to the doctors if its that bad?

Been awake since 5 thanks to munchkin. Still its my last day at work this week.

Mrs81 · 09/01/2014 20:14

Thanks Sunny. Our hv is v eager for ds to be on three meals a day asap and suggests that we focus on quantity rather than variety this now.
But as I type, he's woken in a total fankle and I'm feeling a bit bleurgh about it all. Back to gp tomorrow anyway so will mention it to her I expect. Ho hum.

Hope everyone else is well Smile

Mrs81 · 11/01/2014 07:07

Good morning!

I feel transformed Grin Doc doubled the reflux meds and lo, he slept last night with only 1 feed at 3am. This am we have all woken in jolly spirits for the first time in a while.

Hospital referral in the pipeline for reflux angst.

Happy weekends one and all x

DontmindifIdo · 11/01/2014 09:24

morning.

Wow, so many back to work already!

I need to have a conversation with HR, waiting for her to come back to me to sort. Unfortunately, I've done the sums, until DS starts school in September, I'll be making a £20 a month loss Shock Sad - once he's at school (so only paying wrap around care) I'll make £284 a month after paying his wrap around, DD's nursery and the train fare. I have told DH he needs to ask his mum if she'll do one afternoon a week care, if she'd just pick DD up from nursery at lunchtime then pick DS up from school, that would save us about £40 a week - not sure how I approach asking this though. Most importntly, we need me to be off for as long as possible to keep the period both are pre-school (and making a loss) to a minimum. It was so straight forward with 1!!!

curlyclaz13 · 11/01/2014 11:40

I have my confirmation of return to work on 6th March. But she has said I will be paid the same as the temp which is 2.5k less than I earnt so I need to put her right on that. Still need to sort a childminder but have one possibility if OH's parents do have him one day a week.
We are on the verge of our first tooth, I can see it through the gum !

MrsBri · 11/01/2014 13:05

Your boss is stupid, curly, unless she wants to lose at tribunal she's not actually allowed to do that!

I actually received a pay rise of 5% to start for when I get back, also on 6th March. So I can't complain.

We think we can see a tooth too. Knowing Amy it'll take another month to appear!

pinkbear82 · 11/01/2014 13:26

I'm bored of this teething game now. No teeth, lots of dribble, chewing, ear pulling and grumps on and off.
Still 2 hourly feeds at night, and last night she didn't settle until late and was a general grump until she did finally just fall asleep from exhaustion. I wasn't far behind her.

Dreading the return to work, if I'm honest I'd really rather not do it. And I'd probably be better off finding something closer to home. But already said I wouldn't be back until may, so I've got time to think it over a bit more.

Off to a local pants in a mo, hoping dd enjoys the entertainment and isn't too much of a distraction. Lots of us going, so hopefully pass the baby will work to keep her soothed should it be needed.

curlyclaz13 · 11/01/2014 15:02

She is stupid mrsbri I have known that for a long time but no other jobs around.
Anyone else having fun with bf acrobatics ? Oscar seems to want to try out for a gymnastics team while feeding, we are in bed and he has managed to roll over and off me completely ! He crawls up me nearly every feed so I get a bum in my face or wriggles so much I get nutted !

Hawkmoth · 11/01/2014 17:17

Yes to bf acrobatics. She's so kicky!

Looks like I will do well out of work's restructure.

Can't believe the costs of childcare though, lucky that DH is home in the day. Not lucky for him though, despite it only being half days he already has the haunted expression of the SAHP to a 'lively' child.

pinkbear82 · 11/01/2014 19:55

Panto - local panto. must reread what I type, always been a downfall Blush it was great and dd was amazed and was wriggling round in excitement.

pinkapples · 12/01/2014 09:25

Anyone moved their lo into the next phase car seat yet? I was thinking abou it just wondered what the feeling was as her feet touch the back of the chair now and are seriously bent to accommodate

Also have 2 teeth which is odd because despite the dribbling I thought they'd take longer now she sucks absolutely everything and has a real obsession with labels!!

Not got our referral yet and yay mrsbri for another referral for you hopefully it gets sorted for the both of us

We're starting back at swimming on 26th so I took Theiah to the local pool where I go to the gym yesterday which she loved we did 3 underwater swims and she cried at all of them (not for as long the last time) so I figured I'd take her again next weekend then I stand a chance of her not crying in the advanced baby class lol

How's everyone else's weekend?

Mrs81 · 12/01/2014 12:07

We have a label obessive here too. He was given quite a few soft toys for Christmas - and reliably he is only interested in the labels attached to them ; the toys are merely handles for the labels Smile

Think we'll be in the first stage car seat for a while yet as he's only just 7kg. But I think he'll enjoy facing forwards when the time comes.

Weekend has been okay here. Think we're all a bit tired to be honest. Today I'm absolutely starving though. Breastfeeding is hungry work! I hope I remember to stop eating so much once I am feeding DS less Wink

Mrs81 · 12/01/2014 12:08

obsessive, even

MrsBri · 12/01/2014 14:15

Amy loves labels too...it's cute watching her rub them together!

We've gone extended rear facing and bought a Britax Dualfix which will go through to about 4 years old. We did buy another Britax one for forward facing which goes through to 12, so that's ready in 3.5 years' time!

pinkapples · 12/01/2014 16:55

I bought a group 2 seat today up until she's 4 then she'll be on a booster so it's all good Grin

pinkbear82 · 13/01/2014 10:09

Still in rear facing here, the skinny madam won't hit the 10kg mark for a little while yet. However we have the next car seat ready, it can be a rear facing one too, but DP prefers the isofix one we have for that.

Awful night last night, think I need more than matchsticks today!
