Right there with you Sunny. Was trying to settle her from 7 till 12 last night, then she woke up at 2.0, then 4, now up for the 'day' at 6. Just waiting for ds to come bursting into my room any minute now. Dh left yesterday for 10 day work trip to Perth. How do they know this??

MrsBri · 30/11/2013 15:30

Finally I can get back on here as the mobile site was borked yesterday. Any bookmarked thread wouldn't load!

Anyway, sorry there are ill babies. :-( Pink, I hope you told your GP you'd been twice already.

We're going through utter teething hell right now. It looks like Amy is trying to cut about 6 bottom teeth at once. Ouch. She spends all day chewing air, and looks like an old person with badly fitting dentures.

She was also sick at 5 this morning meaning we needed to change her bed. Lovely stuff! :-/

She's still not that bothered about food and eats very little. How long does it normally take for the appetite to increase?

curlyclaz13 · 30/11/2013 19:03

I think we are getting closer on teeth lots of lip chewing and bitting of any fingers he can get near his mouth.
Those doing blw did you offer water straight away ? I have purchased a cup today and I think we are trying some veg tomorrow but I am not sure if it is going to overwhelm him by offering it all at once ? He is still bf very regularly so he has plenty of fluid and I fully expect him to barely eat anything.

RueDeWakening · 30/11/2013 21:11

Evening all. Am not around much, my best friend died earlier this week very unexpectedly so am dealing with lots of stuff. Not sure how to manage a funeral with M in tow either, and not worked out what we're doing with the other two as we'll have to travel for it.

:(

SunnyL · 30/11/2013 21:38

Oh Rue Im sorry. What a horrible time for you. As sad as the funeral will be do you think taking baby along may give others to smile at?

AlohaMama · 01/12/2013 06:30

Rue, so sorry to hear about your friend, that is just so sad.

Mrs81 · 01/12/2013 08:47

Oh Rue. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Sad I hope you're okay (as much as one can be in the circumstances) x

MadameJ · 01/12/2013 09:09

So sorry to hear that Rue :'(

curlyclaz13 · 01/12/2013 09:21

Sorry to hear about your friend Rue, we took Oscar to OH Nan's funeral but I had to go out as he was crying but that was a couple of months ago. I think that would be my main concern, missing part of the service but you know your lo and how likely they are to stay asleep/quiet. I also had him in a sling so I wasn't contending with him wriggling. x

rrreow · 01/12/2013 13:44

I'm really sorry to hear that Rue. That's just horrible.

We just had a really bad night. DS1 has a bad cough and slightly raised temperature so he's waking every 2-3 hours needing resettling (and unfortunately resettling him takes about 1 hour!). DS2 is cutting his second bottom tooth. Both of them were completely dosed up with the appropriate stuff (Calpol, teething gel, Vicks on chest & feet) but it was a pretty awful night. Times like these I hate this parenting lark. Life is so much easier when they're well.

I'm so sorry about your friend, Rue. I hope you manage to work everything out soon for the arrangements.

pinkbear82 · 01/12/2013 20:20

Rue so sorry to hear that. May not be any help, but back along a friends nan died and although the friend wanted the dc there just in case they took a willing friend/family member to look after them, and be able to take them out/distract if needed. No idea is possible for you, but thought I'd say. Sending hugs.

Think I am going to have to take dd to doctors, she had a cold and cough, which I took her about before, the cold has gone but cough still about. And after reading all the chest infections feel a bit if a bad mum Blush

Just back from a few days away after turning another year older. Was loving being away, being home and returning to normality sucks a bit.

Hope all poorly Los are feeling better and that mumsa re getting some rest in between.

Sarah2506 · 01/12/2013 20:41

So I've been hitting Polly with antibiotics for nearly a week. She's improved but isn't better. Still coughing and congested. At what point do I take her back? Realistically is there anything we can do except ride it out?

MrsBri · 01/12/2013 20:45

Sarah, is it a 7 day course of antibiotics? If so, wait until you finish them and if no better take Polly back. It's the same as us in that real improvement often doesn't happen until the course is complete.

There's so many germs about. Poor babies. :-(

MadameJ · 02/12/2013 07:42

Morning all. Much better night here dd only woke twice between 8pm & 7am so I feel like a different woman :-)

Poor dd1 appears to have yet another cough and cold, starting nursery has a lot to answer for.

Hope everyone had a good night x

Olimoss · 02/12/2013 18:18

Oh Rue I'm so sorry to hear that. My condolences.....

Might I ask advice of everyone please? Joe sounds stuffy, particularly at night when falling asleep, but has no other symptoms of a cold. He does have drool/red cheeks/is a bit irritable (he's usually disconcertingly sunny) but already has his two bottom teeth. He's just 26 weeks old, nearly 27, but I am not convinced he has a cold - could he still be teething the bottom ones or could it be, god forbid, prep for the top ones?!?!

Thank you in anticipation!

pinkapples · 04/12/2013 09:31

Sarah I've just taken dd back to the doctors she's still coughing and bunged up we had a 5 day course of antibiotics and they've given us another batch different antibiotics 7 days and an inhaler to ease her cough so def take her back if your concerned it's not cleared xx just so you know dd is due her last dose of the first antibiotics at lunchtime so I'd get in before it's finished if you can

pinkapples · 04/12/2013 09:32

So sorry rueThanks

pinkapples · 04/12/2013 09:38

Oh and for what it's worth (not that it offerers any comfort) apparently chest infectionss etc are quite common and normally mild in summer born babies as they area used to the weather not that it helps us tho! Theiah did sleep 7.40pm-6am this morning tho so must be doing some good

Mrs81 · 05/12/2013 06:36

Good morning Smile

How are the poorly babies doing now?

It's mighty windy here this morning. I might chicken out of taking DS to our local library's kids session this am. Also, yesterday was the first day EVER that he didn't poo (he's usually very, err, regular) so he's now a ticking bomb. A bomb that I'd rather didn't go off at Bookbugs...

MadameJ · 05/12/2013 06:43

Morning all, I am getting slightly cheesed off with 2 hourly wake ups, I am so tired. Sorry moan over until tomorrow

MrsBri · 05/12/2013 07:34

Morning!

Windy here too. Sounds wet too.

I had been going to go to Sainsbury's to start the Christmas food shop, but I'll give that a miss I think!

I don't envy you two hourly, Madame. We're still mostly every 4 hours and that's bad enough.

I hope all poorly babies are improving.

MadameJ · 05/12/2013 08:30

It's so frustrating because she was doing 8/9 hour stretches at 8 weeks and now like I said she wakes to feed at least every 2 hours!! My biggest problem is I have no choice but to shove a boob at her because dd1 would hear a worm fart and I really don't need her disturbed. With dd1 I pinned my hopes on solids filling her up not that it made any difference at all so I will cling to that thought over the next few weeks.

Sarah2506 · 05/12/2013 09:03

Hello,

All back to normal here. Cough resolved eventually. Back to sleeping. In fact still asleep!

I think it's amazing that we are all now around six months with these little people. Polly is cracking on with the baby led weaning. Slightly horrified that she knocked through my pizza the other day but hey, a little bit won't hurt.

Life feels good now she's no longer sick! I was chatting with my new local friends- without whom I would actually go mad- about how it's nice for the first time ever to have a connection to your local community. Do you feel like that? I've never had friends round the corner before; a very London thing I know. But it's great!

How's everyone else feeling about successfully getting to six months??

Xx

MadameJ · 05/12/2013 11:16

I have enjoyed dd2's first 6 months much more as dd1 was very high needs so that's good. I was chatting to dh about it last night and it has being a much easier ride which I'm obviously pleased about :-)

I have just finished building the cot bed in the hope that dd may sleep longer with a bit more space, dh was being a cock about it because it means taking it down to put back up in her room but at the moment with all the wake ups I don't see the point in putting her in her own room as it's just further for me to go. Bugger him I have managed just fine even with dd1 getting in the bloody way helping!
