And he's asleep in his cot after a half dose of Calpol. Thank fuck.

So, my plan is to let him sleep for an hour and then give him some more diluted milk. Maybe some rice cakes for dinner but no other solids. Then more diluted milk and Calpol before bed? That sound ok? Can you tell that I have never dealt with an ill baby before? Can you tell that I don't have a clue?

PetiteRaleuse · 23/10/2013 15:31

chasing not many of us had before our own arrived. It's hard isn't it Flowers

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 15:31

And I can testify to Lily's O's exceptional language skills. She is a very clever little girl and her level of understanding is brilliant. Oscar just kept trying to poke her in the face Grin

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 15:36

Horrid PR. How you coped last winter I will never know. I just can't wait to see him smile again.

ditsygem · 23/10/2013 15:41

That sounds more promising chasing when F had a sickness bug when he was younger (not on solids yet) I offered 2 oz of milk every hour or so and whenever he woke in the night as he couldn't keep more then that down. Just keep offering diluted milk if that work and let him take as much as he wants. You are doing fab.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 15:45

Very impressed with language and singing skills. J sings a song from Agnitus 'best friends' over and over again. I use the term sing very loosely though.

Chasing, the last 12 months have been like that with J and I am fucking sick of it. I would happily tell work where to put their job so I could stay home with him. I am in such a bad mood today.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 16:18

Sorry Chasing, that did not come over as particularly empathetic. I am feeling sorry for myself. It could be that O is coming down with a bug or something but hopefully it is 'just' teeth.

YellowWellies · 23/10/2013 16:20

Wow we have dancing but no singing and no attempt to put words together. Amazing how they all focus on their own niche 'interests'. Jonas' appears to be vandalism and other minor felonies Confused .

YellowWellies · 23/10/2013 16:23

VQ its funny they say no brufen for refluxers. Our worst night ever 8+ hrs screaming was after giving him brufen. I'm never touching it again until he's much older it was too harsh for his tum. I'm so sorry you've had such a shit time of it. You deserve a break xx Thanks

fruitpastilles · 23/10/2013 16:35

Happy birthday to miniwellies
Hope O picks up chasing I wouldn't have a clue either, but sounds like you are coping very well.

We have dancing - this consists of moving her head and waving her right arm, so cute to watch. She can clap, wave and high five. She can only stand unaided for about 5 seconds and only if she is in the mood. She says mama but I don't think she says it knowing what it means, she has no other words yet. Her biggest skill is whinging, she's a pro at that Wink

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 17:05

Not at all VQ. I felt very guilty moaning about one day of illness when you have been through more than anyone should in a lifetime.

I won't jinx it by telling you that he woke from his power nap smiling and laughing and has since kept down another bottle of milk

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 17:29

and he ate 3 Organix biscotti for dinner

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2013 17:32

I am very please he is brighter chasing :-)

PetiteRaleuse · 23/10/2013 17:48

That's good news chasing

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 18:20

He seems 100% better now. So so odd. Been trying to get hold of XP all day to tell him that O is poorly. His response when I finally get hold of him? 'Oh, I'd better not see him this weekend then'...WTF?! So you only want to see him when he's well? You have responsibilities too!

plus I have a date on Saturday...

StuntedFrankenNun · 23/10/2013 19:24

Still no moving date. Confused It was supposed to be mid-September. Ffs it's nearly November.

BigPigLittlePig · 23/10/2013 19:58

I'm very impressed with the chatty babies. F started to babble this weekend. On Friday she couldn't, then on Saturday she woke up saying a-da-da-a-a-a-da-ga-bbbbrrrrr and looking vair proud. First time she has said anything other than moooo or aaaaarr.

Since we're all having our mini-boasts, here's mine. She can do her shape sorter. And points to the right person when we stand in front of the photos and say "where's daddy/mummy/A" etc

We had thai green curry for tea. F LOVED it. I was Shock. She even stole the cutlery off dh and tried to eat his lol. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Chasing I'm glad O seems better, hope he is over the blip.

VQ I think you're entitled to be in a stinker of a mood. I hope dh pulls his weight tonight.

I hadn't heard the no-brufen-for-refluxers rule. It's the only thing that gets us some sleep with teething pain - and doesn't seem to upset the reflux any more than teething already has done...

Passmethecrisps · 23/10/2013 19:59

Evening wimmins.

P's only interest is in moving on her legs. And stealing my stuff. I think she will be an aimless athlete.

Illness is horrid in babies. Just horrid. It must be a million times worse on your own or when you are not being supported.

Is valiumking in better sorts? Hope you are in your Jammie's readying yourself for bed vq.

We all had dinner together tonight for he first time - it was fab! P loved it, ate her cottage pie well then played happily while we chatted. I must put more effort into making that possible more often.

Passmethecrisps · 23/10/2013 20:03

I'm another one who has brufened with impunity with no ill effects. I am starting to develop a better sense of filtration. By that I mean that I am more able to weigh up pros and cons and assess risk.

Must be growing up!

Brockle · 23/10/2013 20:16

a friend of mine has a fifteen month Ds who suffered stomach bleeds with brufen. he has reflux, cmpi. he has stomach bleeds a lot now. I don't give it to Y for that reason. it was a rare but violent reaction.

Kyz · 23/10/2013 20:18

Evening quiche :) E is getting very brave now with his steps, he walks holding on to one finger just barely all over the house and manages about a dozen steps alone quite regularly before falling flat on his face/arse, when is he deemed to be actually walking?

Also today I tried his bottle an hour after breakfast and he still only drank 4oz, so not sure what to do now.

pikz I think I might end up having to phase E's milk as he isn't quite so keen on cows milk I don't think, though to be fair he doesn't really get it as a drink so who knows!

Does the volume of milk needed after they turn one reduce or does it stay at the 500-600ml?

gt My friend fed her little girl just on the one side as the other never did work from what she said.

yaay for first steps stunt how exciting!!

vq i definitely think you need more support, you have so much to deal with especially with all the illnesses you've had to deal with. I hope your dh steps up, big hugs

sophia E has had regular milk on cereal for ages so i'm hoping the swap over isn't so bad. I too can't wait to get shot of formula but i'll keep him on it if that's what he wants - i think i'm a bit wary because he has anti reflux milk and it's so very thick compared to cows milk/normal formula that i'm not sure he's going to be overly keen on drinking it, particularly at night time :/ Also, E doesn't point. He doesn't do much by way of hand gestures really.

chasing sorry to read O hasn't been well today but glad he's alright now, poor little love. It's hard work with a poorly baby, e has been poorly a handful of times and the week or so after I need to recoup lost sleep etc, I am so very rubbish!

Happy birthday to J yw!!! Hope he's had a fantabbylous day

Glad LO is ok now pr E had an unsettled night but a brilliant day - not sure what caused the night time at all :/ it wasn't as bad as yours sounded by a long shot but he was up a couple of times.

bplp i don't think i could talk coherently after 9 days of working and no days off and not much sleep! No harm done with your mistake as pr says and i'm sure you shan't make it again, hope you've enjoyed your day off today

Hand gestueres - e sometimes waves, well, flaps, when you wave at him. He does both hands, I don't know why. I have seen him clap a couple of times but not for ages and he never bothers. He doesn't point or anything either. Am I meant to worry? He doesn't really do much in terms of skills, I don't think :/ He likes being naughty, touching the tv etc! He can wipe his tray clean after his dinner, does that count? He can copy you coughing etc. He tries to put shoes on.

Glad the journey was ok lily :)

stunt you must be mighty pissed off! I would be - hope you get your moving date soon

Hmm looks like another restless night. No idea what is wrong :/

Pikz · 23/10/2013 20:21

I need a quiche fish slap.

Feeling very down and like I've done everything wrong. L refusing to eat anything the last 3 days that isn't bread related. He refuses fruit and veg and any meals and sachets I've tried him with. He also is having very watery poo and is waking in the night. He's 11 months and used to eat everything and sleep through. I feel like I've broken him and yet I've not changed Anything. He's still on 3 maybe 4 bottles a day if he need one to settle him back off during the night.

I feel like one big failure.

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 20:23

Very impressed with all the walkers and talkers!

I think I've been stood up. 'Just friends' guy was supposed to be coming round tonight. He normally turns up at 7ish. He isn't here.

ChasingDaisy · 23/10/2013 20:24

Consider yourself slapped Pikz Smile

O is still on 4 bottles a day. Like you said, he can sleep through and he can eat well. You have changed nothing. You have done nothing wrong. Babies are contrary buggers Grin

Passmethecrisps · 23/10/2013 20:33

Aw pikz it just sounds like he has a sore tummy. If he eats bread related then let it be. You have done an amazing job and will continue to do so. Isn't amazing how easy it is to shake our confidence? In a few days he will be back on form.

Stood up chasing? Well, there is a man who has no idea! What a Wally.

And I meant to say BP my heart goes out to you. I simply cannot imagine the pressure day to day anyway but trying to do it with a wee one at home and scraping by on sleep - torturous.
