Runt 'talks' a lot. His latest sound is dadada, not related to DH though, he just enjoys doing it. All. The. Time! Bless! Frus if you're concerned do mention it to someone - getting him tested won't hurt him but could either put your mind at rest or let you know about any extra support he might need. Fx it's just him being too busy trying to get around to bother to babble yet! Wink

We're finally going home today. Being around family has mostly been nice but poor Calf was asking several times yesterday to go home! I think we all just need our own beds now! DH doesn't go back to work until Thursday so we've got a good few days just as a family together.

Lorelei353 · 28/12/2013 13:23

We get a lot of ra ra ra, and a few baba and dada noises, but not with any context. He only started it in the last week though so there's plenty of time to start.

bringonthetrumpets · 28/12/2013 14:44

M is loving the raspberries, making smacking noises, and bababas. Otherwise it's just super loud screeches and AHHHHHHHHs!!!. She gets very high-pitched and squeals when she sees the boys.

Agreed all around then. When in doubt, get the little one checked out. We're here for you frus!

We're over the 7 month mark and baby pear isn't really talking. If he's desperate for me when DH is trying to settle him he will say Ma ma but he's done that since 4 months and I've always wondered whether he's calling me or that's just his desperation cry either way I always jump as it melts my heart! Other then that we don't get ba ba or da da. TBH I thought we were too early for that stage but maybe not? Also, he responds to noises if I bang two cups together but he doesn't respond to his name. Not sure if that is normal!

peardrop2 · 28/12/2013 23:14

Did I say we have two front bottom teeth now and more coming? I knew they'd all come together. Had to be that way after all the teething crappy nights we've had since he turned 3 months! Argh!

Frus, I agree with anyone else. Worth getting checked out but he doesn't sound any different to my son on the talking front if that brings any comfort for now?!

Hmm, 5 mins maybe? I'm sure you'll have tried by the time you come back to mumsnet though!

No baby teeth over here yet. M has, however, decided to boycott her cot in favor of sleeping on top of me. Hmm

Hehe, DS1 just got a shot of the boob juice in the eye for conjunctivitis. No way am I spending 40 mins on the phone trying to book an apt and paying 25 dollar copay plus another 20 for the antibiotics. As agnu says, "breastmilk cures it all!"

Wow Frus that's so advanced! Keeping you on your toes Wink

So, to those who're weaning. What are you giving your 7 month plus for breakfast? My book says they can now have ready break or weetabix but if we can't mix with cows milk what am I meant to do, express? Also the book says that if they're having 2 protein meals a day they shouldn't need milk at lunchtime. Has anyone else's baby dropped milk at lunchtime yet?

Well, does baby pear still enjoy a feed before or after his lunch? He might still want to feed just for comfort's sake. Also, you could mix the cereal with some full-fat yogurt or kefir or yes, some breastmilk. You could also sub the cereal for something nutrient-dense like egg yolks (out of hard boiled eggs) mashed up with a bit of breastmilk spread on toast or even just alone, oatmeal, quinoa, or barley cereals sweetened with applesauce and a bit of cinnamon, pancakes made out of egg yolks and bananas (check out THIS recipe). LOTS and lots of options. Wink

kittykatsforever · 30/12/2013 16:10

Pear you can use cows milk on cerial, we give kitten cows milk and weetabix or a variety or porriges, it's only that it can't be substituted for their milk at this age but in food it is fine

kittykatsforever · 30/12/2013 16:11

Kitten usually has 4 milk feeds a day, one first thing, at 10 at 4 and at 7, sometimes we miss one, I let her dictate

kittykatsforever · 30/12/2013 16:14

We just had eggs for lunch bring, yummy yum

Aww. He knows what he likes Grin

I need some expert advice, is 0 degrees F too cold to chuck the kids outside in the snow? THEY ARE DRIVING ME MAD.

AGnuMasqueradingAsAReindeer · 30/12/2013 19:03

One of my favourite phrases is: "There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing." Extra jumper, warm hat & show them the door bring! Wink They'll warm up when they've been running around for a bit!

kittykatsforever · 30/12/2013 19:44

Agree with Agnu aslong as there's not a tornado about to wip them up into the air!

peardrop2 · 30/12/2013 21:01

Thanks ladies. Always good to hear what you do! So I'll give ready brek a go with full fat cows milk! Bring ~ your recipes sound lovely...not sure when I'll find the time to put them together though Hmm I'm struggling to deliver 2 protein meals already! Baby pear feeds at 7am, 11:30am, 2:30pm, 5:30pm, 7pm, 10:30pm and 3am. The 11:30 and 5:30 are small feeds. I think I need to drop the 11:30 feed now. He barely takes anything at 11:30 anyway as he's so full from his lunch.

They were bundled up to their eyeballs, but they went out. At least it killed the psychotic running around the house for a while. Ha, no tornadoes for another 6 months kitty

Man, I don't even keep track of when M eats. She just yells at me and I whip one out. She did munch on some pears for breakfast and some beans, carrots, kale, and potatoes from a soup that I put together last night. It's like she just changed gears in the last few days and is now all about the food again! I just have to remember to sit her down and feed her when the boys are eating Hmm
