Morning quiche.

stunt while I pregnant with LO just after we moved here she slammed her head into mine and I got a huge black eye. It was in the middle of the night how I didn't scream and wake her I don't know :o Anyway the neighbours all assumed the worst I think it was quite embarassing going around knocked up with a black eye. Anyway if it's broken will really really hurt and they might be reluctant to xray during the 2ww. I had xrays on my wrists planned last February (2012) and they refused as I said I might be pregnant. Which reminds me, must get them xrayed. They still hurt. Also during pregnancy with LO DD1 smashed into my face and I had a suspected broken nose but it being early pregnancy they didn't do anything about it. That hurt. For about 4 weeks. But it looks fine now so probably wasn't broken (but I can make it do funny clicks it didn't do before.)

Going to look at my recipe books to plan a special meal for tomorrow. Exactly a year ago I'd spent the night wondering if I had contractions but since I was due in for the elcs this afternoon I waited. Bit silly but they weren't huge and the elcs happened as planned the following morning.

LO is celebrating her birthday at nursery today so took my camera in with her this morning. They will take pictures throughout the day. Sweet idea, they told me about it last week.

YellowWellies · 18/10/2013 08:04

Stunt just take care of the x-ray radiation given you could be
pregnant. xx

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 18/10/2013 08:39

Happy Birthday Dd2 PR!

Thanks PP, pass and pikz (the three Ps!!) Operation Man The Fuck Up is ON today. until I crumble in the face of opposition

stunt ouchy. I think get to A&E, better checked out and ok than the other.

Jealous of quiche meets. Nice to see the pics though.

Look forward to A's name in due course GT.

Nice to hear from you BPLP. Hope all ok. How is F?

Sounds stressful bryzoan but what a wonderful advocate you are for your DD. And yes, the unprompted moments between DC are lovely and make all the hard work of the first days worthwhile.

MM what everyone else said Grin

Hi kyz and kirrin and donna.

YW to answer Q about MMR jab, no, S will be having whatever they offer in whatever combo they offer it. DH is in charge of jabs as he is at home 3 days a week. He managed to forget E's flu spray/jab this week, so the fewer apts for him to remember the better!!

pennie are you all settled in new house?

sophia that sounds silly re O's settles. My nursery does 1 hour for first settle, 2 hours in the morning to include a (bottle) feed for the second, and three hours including food plus a nap for third settle. Both of mine were fine with these three (but both started at 5 months so slightly different). Can you suggest something which you feel will be better? It is in everyone's interests, including the nursery's, for him to settle in.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/10/2013 09:06

Well pr le beouf is marinating in the fridge, my shallots are just bathing in boiling water ready to be peeled and I am very much looking forward to the bourguignon this evening. I am doing that lamb one that you linked to on Sunday and am also looking forward to that! It's a foody weekend.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 09:14

sophia this is another Burgundy recipe you might like to try. Similar sauce to bourgignonne but you poach eggs in it. Sounds weird but it is amazing with garlic toasts. Well impressive starter, and the sauce can be prepared ahead and the eggs poached last minute. Haven.t tried this particular recipe but tis in English: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3020/oeufs-en-meurette

Thought you light like it if you have leftover ingredients.

MissMummy1 · 18/10/2013 09:29

Spooky, I am making this tonight!

Your DC are soo lucky to have you bryzoan

Hope you arent too sore aurora - yy to getting it checked though!

Thanks for the carseat chat. I know we are being very PFB about it and probably a bit unreasonable. Blush Giving her ours isn't an option as we need one for both cars. I will send them some which reports...

NEW THREAD: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/1884788-November-2012-Babies-going-trick-or-treating

My cheek is okay, bruised but not broken. Phew! It's very painful though so I think I'll take it east today. We only waited 45 minutes at A&E which must be a record. I must remember to only injure myself in the mornings from now on!

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 10:24

That's good stunt definitely deserve an easy day :)

YellowWellies · 18/10/2013 10:32

Am loving the autumn foodie twist of the thread lately. Om and nom and nom. We've got coq au vin, sauteed leek and greens and dairy free aligot leftovers tonight. Nice meal with no cooking - result! Then DH will cater the weekend Smile

Stunt glad you're in one piece.

Pennie where's your new place? I was in Taikoo / HK island east. Am having wanderlust envy.

Bryz good luck with your battling. Your girls are v lucky to have you.

The bear walked with his baby walker for the first time today Smile. He just stood up, grabbed it and toddled half the length of the kitchen! I've made a point not to drape him 'standing' on stuff but to let him learn to stand only when he can pull himself up (having agreed with the chat in 'French kids don't throw food' questioning the wisdom of pushing milestones) so I'm really surprised how quick he's progressing (slow compared to the early movers I know! Smile but quick for our family) without being 'hothoused'. Maybe he will walk before Christmas Confused I really hope he doesn't take his first steps when DH is away in the Falklands in December as DH will be gutted to miss it.

Well we're down to 2 night wakings but 10 days of disturbed sleep is doing my head in. Teeth, bug, trace dairy, growth spurt and development leap? God knows!!!! Envy At least it seems to be improving.....

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/10/2013 10:50

Grin mm we have all known each other so long we are in each other's heads! I like the look of the baguette dumplings though and I have half a stale baguette in freezer.

That looks weirdly yummy pr

Glad you are still In one piece stunt . Am thinking of an ikea trip next
Thursday would you like to meet up In the cafe and do some plane spotting? Is ikea doable for you?

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 10:52

Have decided against coq au vin or beef bourgignonne for tomorrow night. Have been very tempted by this thread but am on my own with the girls tomorrow and won't have the time. I think I'm going to do stuffed chicken breasts, but not sure with what. Mozzarella and pesto sounds tempting? Crispy breadcrumb coating or wrapped in bacon? Anyone got any favourite recipes? Will serve with a couple of salads and French beans. Tempted to do a French Onion Soup too but again, tomorrow won't have the time, plus LO won't really be able to enjoy it and it will be her birthday after all. Have wasted all morning on here and looking at recipes and still not decided.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 10:56

sophia when I first ordered it I was sceptical but it was quite honestly the nicest surprise I have ever had in a restaurant. Really worth the effort. The yolk running into the sauce and on to the garlic toasts is sublime.

Ooh. I think I might do it tomorrow night. I can do the sauce this afternoon, would just need eggs and salad which dh can pick up tomorrow afternoon on his way back from the office. (first Saturday in his career that heworks and it is LO's birthday Hmm )

I have never made it before but have all the ingredients in. I am going to spend the afternoon in my kitchen making some food for the weekend. I have a pool training session and work all day tomorrow, friends round tomorrow evening and then we are off at the crack of dawn on Sunday over to the west coast for a day of diving and fun! Hoorah! I have only just managed to shift my clients around to make it work, soo excited. And as there will be lots of us on the shore at any one time, Tilly and A are coming too. I really like my new dive club soo much more than the club I first learned with. Smile

Anyway, food. Tonight is sorted. Tomorrow I think we are doing tapas - ideas on a postcard. I am going to make some soups (and will double up on tonight's meal so we can stick some in a food flask for post dive nomminess), banana bread aka stick lots of stuff in breadmaker and hit go and some gingerbread/fruit buns - my gran's recipe. AMAZING! Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 11:28

I'm guessing you dive in dry suits? I have never used one, despite learning to dive in the Med in March. It was soooo cold (12 degree water, so probably not as cold as the Irish sea in October!)

Love the sound of those cakes. Do you fancy sharing the family secret?

I'm buying LO's birthday cake tomorrow. Well probably more of a tart than a cake.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/10/2013 11:29

Love love love west Coast Scotland, post lots of photos please!

StuntNun · 18/10/2013 11:47

I would love to meet up Sophia, we were supposed to be moving on Thursday but we're still waiting for the solicitors to confirm the date so I should know today.

OP posts:
MissMummy1 · 18/10/2013 12:05

Yes, defs dry suits in open water! I won't be going in on Sunday as a) I'm only allowed to dive to 20m and they will all be going deeper, b) my drysuit needs its seals serviced and c) I've been volunteered for shore duty. Really looking forward to it and going to take my camera with me.

I may be disowned for sharing family recipes but hey ho! Here it is:

1 egg (lightly beaten)
2 cups plain flour
1tspn baking powder
1tspn bicarb soda
3oz butter
1 cup water
1 cup sultanas
1 cup currants
1 cup sugar
1tspn cinnamon
1tspn ginger
1tspn mixed spices

Put butter, fruit, sugar, spices and water into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Boil for 3 minutes then cool quickly (I usually plunge saucepan into sink of cold water for a few mins, it is only to stop egg cooking in hot mixture in next bit). Mix in egg then fold in with flour and mix.

Cook at 200degc for 10ish mins. I usually put a smear of glazed icing on them but they are great plain too!

It makes about 30 buns (is a great end of baking use up recipe!) or if you prefer you can just whack the whole mixture into a tin and make ginger bread.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 12:13

Thank you Flowers

ChasingDaisy · 18/10/2013 12:32

Ooh thanks MM. Am stealing that recipe. I have wanted to make gingerbread the past few Christmases and this year will hopefully be the year I get round to it!

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 18/10/2013 12:51

Will catch up in a bit but I am currently the proud owner of a backbone AND balls.

ignores massive unpleasantness this has caused because it's not me being unpleasant

PetiteRaleuse · 18/10/2013 12:52

Well done Gazelle :)

Passmethecrisps · 18/10/2013 13:00

Hia!

Love the cooking chat BTW.

My mind has gone blank of what I was on here to say!

Be back when I find my brain cell

Passmethecrisps · 18/10/2013 13:01

Nice one missus! No, it's not your unpleasantness. It belongs to the bawbag who thought they could take the pish
