Bon soir!

Hello from the Côte d'Azur.

Good job on the driving lesson chasing! It took me 4 attempts to pass my test but I am convinced I am a better driver for it. Just try to relax and take on board what the instructor tells you.

stunt we were very nearly ruined by a nationwide mortgage adviser giving us duff advice because she didn't know the correct loan to value on the product she sold. It meant that with days to complete she called us "just to let us know" that actually we had to find thousands more pounds. In literally days. It was awful. I hope you get yours sorted.

Well, p took to flying like a, well, duck to water! She slept for the first 45 minutes (we were up at 4am) then walked up and down the aisle about 15 times smiling and squealing at everyone. She seemed to think they were there for her amusement. She was very popular with a cabin full of largely elderly people. She didn't sleep again all day until now when she has just gone down for the night. Fingers crossed she sleeps well.

We have discovered, however that the terrace is lethal having railings much too far apart to be remotely safe. No biggy really considering it is set to rain every day.

Passmethecrisps · 07/10/2013 17:49

Brilliant news lily. That is fantastic news

FatimaLovesBread · 07/10/2013 18:36

I have a very chesty, raspy little girl Sad she's ok in herself just a bit clingy. No snot or anything, just her chest sounds like a smoker.
Will she be ok to go to the childminder tomorrow? Am presuming its a cold that's settled on her chest. Might book her for the GP after pick up tomorrow.

ChasingDaisy · 07/10/2013 19:11

That is fantastic news Lily!

Bon soir pass. I was in Tesco earlier and saw a lovely baby girl who reminded me so much of wee P. She was such a delightful smiley little girl and she made O smile too Smile

I surprised myself in my driving lesson today. In that I wasn't a nervous, quivering wreck. I would have been 6 months ago but I am a completely different person now. Nothing scares me. I only did starting and stopping but it wasn't as scary as I thought. Lots to think about though, but I've been told it all becomes second nature Hmm

Anyone got any plans for Halloween? I feel like I should do something with O. I know we have at least one birthday on the day - is it Izzy's J?

Elizadoesdolittle · 07/10/2013 19:30

lily That's brilliant news, am so pleased.

chasing Really glad that your lesson went well. Take it slowly but as soon as I passed my test I felt like I gained independance. I passed third time but I was 17 and looked about 12 so that probably had a lot to do with it. I am of course a fantastic driver. But seriously I love driving. Love the fact I can pop my girls in the back and feel like I can head anywhere. The world is my oyster. You'll feel that with O too once you become a confidant driver.

pass Well done P on being a superstar traveller. I know you were a bit nervous about it. Hope you have a fa holiday and that it doesn't rain all the time.

apple how are you doing?

fatima If it's just a chesty throat thing and no temp or other signs of distress I'd still send M to the cm.

E has just started saying mamma and dadda in the past few days bit slow I know. She sounds so cute. Trying not to think what she'll be like when she's DD1's age and I hear mummy 100 times a day! I'm enjoying this age so much.

Donnadoon · 07/10/2013 19:58

Thank you everyone for birthday wishes
Dd has had a lovely day
Happy birthday chicks ds Cake
Hooray for lilys O Flowers

fruitpastilles · 07/10/2013 20:22

pass I can totally imagine P owning the aisle! Have a lovely holiday, you deserve it.

chasing sounds like you had a good first lesson, do you have the disc to practise the theory? I found the disc to be really good and it has the hazard perception practice tests on it too.

Kyz · 07/10/2013 20:35

Evening everyone :) Good day here if you ignore the throwing breakfast at me bit!

Thankyou for the pics gt both ds's are blooming gorgeous :)

Lol pp bless him :) E has been at it again today chatting up MIL's best friend, she talks to him in a very high pitched voice which sets him right off!

lily your reunion must've been tough :( hugs. You are an amazing person and such an inspiration, bless you. WOOHOOO for O being okay :D that is fantastic!!!

pass E was a bit iffy in his shoes at first - tbh he doesn't wear them much as he doesn't walk really yet - a few steps but nothing more, but when we go out he likes to try to walk holding my hand and I wanted to protect his feet. At first he seemed so confused but he seems to enjoy them now and fetches them when you ask him to :)

pleased for the 12 hours sleep misslaughalot sounds much improved on previous nights :) Hope you manage a decent stretch of sleep yourself soon too

I also think the plug in menthol things are brilliant, MM how is M now?

YAAAAY VQ so pleased you're back but not at all pleased about the poorly little ones :( FC they're both better soon, bless them. We have all really missed you!

LOL bplp that made me laugh!!!

oh dear det well at least you've known o can settle fine lol, and poor dp doing rocking and patting for fuck all, bless him!

glad P isn't reacting to dairy pass that's great :)

sorry you had a shitty sunday madame i do love the word fuckwiticism, that's brilliant!

sorry you had a shitty weekend too stunt sounds quite stressful :(

that's great pr she must be really quite settled there now then? sounds like she's done fantastically :)

Happy birthday to babychick and babydonna :)

Hope you have a brilliant holiday pass :D

hope she gets better soon fatima not sure about the CM but if she sounds quite chesty perhaps a gp trip is a good idea like you said?

well done on your lesson chasing it does become second nature yes :) I barely drive and usually it takes me about 5 mins to get back used to the feel of driving and then i'm fine - I hadn't driven in over a year the first time I drove after having E, but soon remembered what was what.

aww that's lovely eliza :) I bet she'll be talking your ears off in no time now!

Need to make my bed before I can get in it, the bastard cat threw up on it! Lovely! Had to bung it all in the wash a couple of hours ago. Flipping creature.

FatimaLovesBread · 07/10/2013 20:38

Still haven't caught up on the last thread but realised I haven't said Congratulations GT Thanks Smile

chasing well done on the driving lesson. I used to get so nervous I'd go for at least two poos before a lesson with my bloody nervous bowels but I love driving now. Can't imagine not doing it.

Yay to O lily

Happy birthday mini chick

Have texted CM to says she's got a cold that's settled in her chest and she's happy to have her. I'm the boss tomorrow so can't have the day off, could possibly have the afternoon off, so happy she's ok having her.

GTbaby · 07/10/2013 20:51

Hello. Mw appointment didn't go great. He has Lost more weight Sad

She thinks the tongue tie has meant he has not been draining the breast which may be reducing my supply. I agree as I've not been pumping as much today/yesterday.

The tongue tie has been cut today. Since then he has had a 5min feed at 2pm and 3pm. Sounds like he is taking lots of milk in. Mw hopes that now he is draining breast more effectively should increase supply.

However weight loss is an issue. So I'm going to ff top ups every other feed until Friday. And then reassess.

QQ. Any reason I can't use lansinoh on A hands. They are very dry and olive oil is making no impact at all.

YellowWellies · 07/10/2013 21:11

Happy birthday babydoon and minichick!

Pass happy holidays!

Kyz I often get a barrage of breakfast. Betsy dog loves to clean it up. E is a clever boy! Jonas doesn't do anything I ask Blush this control freak Mummy is going to have to chill the fuck out for the next, woo, 18 years?

VQ hope work went well.

Fatima I think asking the CM's opinion on illnesses and any need to stay home is the best course of action. Put yourself in the shoes of the other parents and ask would I be chuffed if their kid came in and shared xyz bug around to all the little folks? I think a cold like M has is fine as they're unavoidable but anything worse isn't kind to share. Hope M feels better soon.

GT great news on the TT being cut. To make sure he drains a breast and gets the fatty high calorie hindmilk at the back the breast should feel much lighter and empty after a feed. If it doesn't squeeze your boob gently as he feeds to empty it. Make sure you're not alternating breasts any less than half hourly as he'll just be getting the low calorie fore milk from each breast and won't gain weight. If he's only managing five minute feeds strip him to his nappy and tickle his feet and ears to keep him feeding. How is the jaundice? Good luck with the top ups xxxx

BigPigLittlePig · 07/10/2013 21:12

GT ((hugs)) - am sure having the tt cut will make a huge difference. F was so relieved when hers was done, as suddenly feeding was so easy for her, where it had clearly been a struggle before hand. Within a few days, I bet A won't be wanting any top ups as your milk will be plenty for him. And yes to lansinoh on hands, works wonders. F shed her skin like a snake lol.

BigPigLittlePig · 07/10/2013 21:14

Am just watching a program about MWs. A lady is about to have triplets fuuuuuuuck!. It's bringing back memories and making me a bit broody.

ValiumQueen · 07/10/2013 21:17

Not caught up sorry. Just wanted to say first day was great even after being up all night with J and DD2 also being ill today. It was lovely to be me again, and have grown-up conversation and hot coffee!

J is still doing crap with his food, but I am encouraged to hear of dairy successes.

Will be back proper soon I promise,

Love,

Mum x Grin

GTbaby · 07/10/2013 21:28

Oh dear. Now a bleeding nipple

BigPigLittlePig · 07/10/2013 21:34

Ouch xx

I hope you are being brought copious quantities of yummy food and drinks?

PurplePidjin · 07/10/2013 21:46

GT top ups will hinder your supply further. The sucking is what tells your body to make more milk; pumping isn't as efficient and only takes away what's there. By all means top up, but it's almost guaranteed to mean you end up ff. He needs free access and you, missis, are doing fantastically well but need a little faith in the miracle that is your body Thanks

GTbaby · 07/10/2013 22:02

Yes I'm being bought lots of food and warm milk.

Just fed him 30mins. And he has managed to take 3oz top up Sad which I guess confirms he is not drinking enough from me. Not the most confidence building experience.

Will try the naked feeding tomorrow.

Sry feeling a bit down in the dumps n haven't caught up or commented on anything.

YellowWellies · 07/10/2013 22:03

Top ups do have a pretty high odds of ending up with exclusive FF especially as you've done FF before and probably wouldn't find it the pain in the ass as I did when I had to top up and was motivated to dispense with them and sterilising asap. But you've beaten your own target and hopefully feel very proud of your BF progress so far GT and its up to you as A is your son. If you do want to keep BF avoid top ups at night time as suckling at night is what massively builds your supply (I guess in prehistory we co-slept?) and trying to cut down night feeds at this stage will just dry up your milk. Have you enjoyed it at all? Has it made for a different experience between your two boys? It is initially harder than FF but so long as you don't disrupt babies natural feeding in the first few weeks to fit 'a routine' you'll have oodles of milk and it becomes easier than FF in the long term.

Kyz · 07/10/2013 22:06

gt glad a has had his tongue tie snipped :) ouch, nipple sounds very sore :(

Lol yw e doesn't really listen to me either, only when it comes to his shoes! I don't understand his eating habits sometimes, he still mostly refuses breakfast, no idea how he is as big as he is!

Hey vq :) glad you had a great day :) what does I like to eat? E can still be difficult sometimes but they'll get there :) hope you have a good night tonight and the babies get better soon

StuntNun · 07/10/2013 22:11

GT just because A takes a formula top up does not mean he isn't getting enough milk from you. Babies that young are programmed to feed all the time to establish supply, also he can't say no to a bottle yet, he doesn't know how to stop sucking as it is a reflex for him to suck whenever something goes into his mouth. There's nothing wrong with going top ups if that's what you want to do but don't read too much into him taking a bottle as well as breast milk. My advice is to take your time and take it easy. If you're happy to keep bfing then do so, especially in the 'wee hours' as that's the best time to get your supply up, and decide on whether to top up with formula as you go along. My SIL topped up for a couple of weeks at the start but then went on to bf her son until he was 2.5 years. There's no hurry to make a decision so please go with the flow and follow your instincts on what's best for you and your baby.

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 07/10/2013 22:12

GT no it doesn't mean he's not getting enough milk from you - it just confirms that it takes more effort for him to BF whereas you can literally pour FM into a newborn (hence the obesity link). Don't doubt your body - BF is a confidence game and you are doing it and he is learning and getting better at it every day. It gets easier. You're amazing and are doing it (BF is hard initially there's no two ways about it - hence most folks quit earlier than they had planned) and if you want to FF just do it but please don't say you 'couldn't' BF as that makes others think its impossible and makes more women reach for the bottle. You're doing him the world of good but if you're unhappy then don't beat yourself up xx

YellowWellies · 07/10/2013 22:15

We topped up for 3 weeks and now we EBF as Stunt says don't feel committed to any choice at this early stage. Be kind to yourself and believe in yourself so that any decision is clearly and consciously made not a result of a middle of the night doubt or feeling of insecurity x

GTbaby · 07/10/2013 22:49

He is feeding again. From me Grin which I guess proves the suckle reflex just mentioned.

And thank you so much for saying top ups didn't end ur (friends) bf.

I'm not topping up at night as I remember it being mentioned that night feeds effect supply more. Also I don't want to get out of bed!

my nxt goal is end of October. Which is how long I'm at my mums. Figured I can literally sit on my arse n feed so no excuse not to.
Hoping it will be easier &/ quicker by the time I go back home and have to cope alone more.

Any tips great fully received.

And yes A also seems to be shedding skin like a snake.

YellowWellies · 07/10/2013 22:51

Smile yey to a second goal GT - we got told to try grape seed oil for flakey skin xx
