Brilliant news lily Grin

pikz it took DD1 about 8 weeks to stop crying when we left her at nursery, but she was fine after about 10 minutes. We gradually built up the time, like PR has been doing, and now she absolutely loves it - I think she'd go everyday if she could! Stick with it. It's hard now but it will be ok.

You are doing brilliantly GT It will get easier - this is the tough bit. The to tongue tie snip should help massively.

Glad work went well VQ

Hugs and sleepy dust to those in need of them.

GTbaby · 07/10/2013 23:43

I'm literally sat here squishing boobs between feeds trying to work out which is hard/soft/full

Lily311 · 08/10/2013 05:44

gt you are doing so well with breastfeeding and your goal is doable, end of october is nearly here.

O is back sleeping. I am so grateful. 10 days of sleep regression but now sleeping 7-7.

Revision is still going ahead but slowly losing fate.

FatimaLovesBread · 08/10/2013 05:50

Been awake with M for the last hour. Think it may be croup. Her breathing a calmed a lot from what it was and she's back asleep but still raspy.
Anyone any experience of croup?
I've been googling and there's lots of tales of trips to A&E Shock
I'm guessing its definitely best to keep her home from CM now? Any other day I'd be fine to have off but not today. Bugger, may have to ring round and find someone to sit at home with her til lunch if DH can't have off

StuntNun · 08/10/2013 06:52

You're doing brilliantly GT. Every day you feed A yourself is beneficial to both of you. I wish you could see how easy it is to bf at 10 months. J woke up this morning, had a little cuddle with me, took both sides in about five minutes total and he's set for the day. His main feed is in the morning and he has two or three 'snacks' of milk through the day now. We struggled initially with latch problems and sore nipples due to the poor latch but in my opinion it was well worth the effort in the first few weeks. J has been mix fed since 6 months (and had expressed milk in bottles before that) so other people have been able to feed him as well. My three children were all very different: DS1 wouldn't latch but loved his bottles; DS2 struggled with my fast let down and self-weaned at 9 months but would never take a bottle; DS3 had a poor latch at first but is now a pro and will probably be bf until he's over a year old. There's no one best solution with feeding, all you have to do is work out what suits you both the best.

In other news J SLEPT THROUGH! Proper sleeping through from 7:45 to 6:15 with no little cries in the night and no night feed. His sleep has been gradually improving since changing his bedtime routine and starting sleep training last month but it was lovely to have a full night from him, even if it was just a one-off. I feel much better for a having a good night's sleep.

Sucking produces milk, gt, so you'll only get Pammy boobs if you skip a feed or use the same side twice in a row. Get a ring, bracelet, hairband, bit of ribbon tied to your bra strap or something to remind you which side you were on last.

Medical attention for sure, Fatima, a+e might be a bit drastic unless she's struggling to breathe? Thanks

PurplePidjin · 08/10/2013 07:05

Yaaaaaay Stunt! Brew

Bf at 10 months is definitely a doddle, he latches himself and is done in 5 minutes. Takes longer to rearrange my clothes!

Brockle · 08/10/2013 07:26

stunt can you post the sleep training link as I am at breaking point and have a week off in two weeks so want to try anything sleep training. your nights full sleep gives me hope.

gt I think you are doing great. I set myself little goals with ds1 and ended up bfing all three of my babies. Grin Grin Grin

DH and his dept have a meeting on Thursday with HR. we think it can only mean redundancy. Sad Sad Sad trying to be positive and failing Sad difficult to be positive on. less than four hours sleep

sorry for me post. just need to vent.

hot coffee and adult conversation is great isn't it vq Wink

misslaughalot · 08/10/2013 07:58

Fatmia my friend's DD has just had croup at 13 months old. Started with a trip to the walk in centre who then blue lit her to the children's hospital where she was given steroid injections. No overnight stay but best to get her seen as you don't want it developing into something worse.

GT you are doing brilliantly. Your posts are bringing back all my thoughts art the start of my bf journey. I had MIL asking how long I was going to bf for and my antenatal group were switching to ff one by one. Some days seemed so hard, the 3 hour cluster feeding sessions. But reading, researching and listening to success stories and more importantly trusting my own body kept me going and like Stunt I wish you could see babylaughalot feeding at 10 months. She has a big feed first thing when she ales up, one at 3.30 and one at bedtime. 10 mins max each one. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

We had the 9-12 month check yesterday, and the HV was chatting about how few women she sees who don't give their baby any kind of bottle. Whoever spoke up thread about the formula companies doing a great marketing job and undermining women's confidence in their own bodies was damn right.

misslaughalot · 08/10/2013 08:01

Wanted to say congratulations to Lily, O's progress is blimmin brilliant!

And yay for Stunt! Send the sleepy dust back our way though will you? Babylaughalot slept through on Saturday night but that seems to have been a freak accident Hmm

ditsygem · 08/10/2013 08:02

Fatima i had croup often as a child, mum used to put me over a bowl of hot water with a towel over my head to ease my breathing - it worked wonders and I have memories of being like that in the middle of the night at times as that always seems to be when the croup is worst. With a baby try a steamy bathroom (if your bathroom doesn't get steamy, stand in the shower cubicle holding LO with the shower pointing away from you both and enjoy the steam!
I never needed AandE and she didn't really bother with Dr's either as there is nothing they can do for it, but if you suspect chest infection or she struggles to breathe then definitely get her to be checked out.

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/10/2013 09:09

brockle really sorry to hear that. Doesn't sound very positive but ill have my fingers crossed that its something else!

Just off to take E to her first swimming lesson. So excited. Would have started her much earlier if it hasn't been for the tube but hopefully it won't delay her progress too much.

fruitpastilles · 08/10/2013 09:25

chasing there is a <a class="break-all" href="http://m.groupon.co.uk/?deal_id=downloadbuyercom-27771488&landing_url=m.groupon.co.uk/?id=downloadbuyercom-27771488" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">driving test bundle on groupon today, looks a really good deal, obviously only if you don't have the stuff already.

stunt good to hear J slept through!

Oh no brockle I hope it's not what you're thinking!

GTbaby · 08/10/2013 09:26

Good morning.
I am using my app To monitor sides and time. But I'm guessing if A only feeds 10mins on one boob I should do the same boob again next time?

Not sure what croup is. But call nhs direct for advise if unsure.

Woop sleeping through stunt.

It is really good to hear of positive stories. Of those who struggled but then went on to have good breast feeders. I assumed those who feed for ages have always been good feeders.
Next thing I need to work on his latch. Mw who did his TT said he had a lazy latch. N is not taking enough in. Which is why I'm sore. (My mw says its a good latch! But it's painful, I have sore/cracks so obviously she is wrong)

Also. I have no intention of dtd lol. However how soon can I start the pill? To ensure we have no more happy accidents Wink

fruitpastilles · 08/10/2013 09:28

fatima I'd take her to the doctors if it was me just in case, hope she gets better soon.

FatimaLovesBread · 08/10/2013 09:43

Just a quick update on M. I'm at work, DH is at home and they should be at the Drs about now. I'll be finishing at lunch and taking over from him

Pikz · 08/10/2013 09:50

Well done GT

Get well soon M

Good luck E with swimming

And we're in nursery. He's been there 30 mins without me... Let's see

Thechick · 08/10/2013 09:57

GT I didn't establish bf exclusively until H was about a month. He was early and very sleepy to begin with and would just fall asleep on the boob and bottle and had to be tube fed. When he came came out of hospital he was bottle fed with a mix of my milk and formula and I was expressing which I hated. I felt I wasn't producing enough milk so I started taking fenugreek and haven't really looked back. But it did take a few calls to bf specialists and visits to bf cafes before we got there and I bf my first child and I still needed help.

Thanks for all the well wishes for little H. We had a lovely birthday party and a lovely day yesterday

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/10/2013 10:15

Grr on hold to try and change address on my car insurance, was put on hold for 10 mins while they worked out the price and the bastards then cut me off.

Now getting wound up.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have better things to do.

Kyz · 08/10/2013 10:37

Morning all :)

gt you're doing fantastically :) the end of October isn't too far away and I think setting yourself these goals is fantastic :) if I have another I will try to do the same, and am inspired by you to not panic if baby loses weight and have faith that I'm doing what is right. I am glad people have lots of positive stories for you too :)

Glad revision is going ok lily and o is back to sleeping again!

My nephew had croup fatima and was taken back into hospital but was only a few weeks old

Woooooo on the sleeping through stunt amazing!

Really hope it isn't redundancy bry fingers tightly crossed

Hope you and e have a fun lesson eliza

Hope nursery goes ok pikz

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2013 10:54

FFS I typed a really long post and the climbing keyboard warrior deleted it Angry

I had a 10 am lie in. Doesn't really count when you're up between 1 and 6am, does it? Still, we have a new tooth to show for it all. And I have a really stiff, sore neck. On my busiest day this week. Bollocks.

Sophia how bloody infuriating.

GT you are doing amazingly!

Fatima hope it's nothing serious; get well soon M.

Fab news on O's hips lily ! Good luck with revision!!

VQ glad work was great. A hot cup of coffee in relative peace is one of the best things about my job Grin

Snot has left the MM1 household (well, P is 'dying' with a cold apparently but I won't count his minor sniffle...) and M has become an expert crawler. And climber. She can also chase the dog at mass speed with her vtech walker and is practising lots of balancing - I really don't think it will be long until she is walking.

I also had to sack my gardener yesterday. I am sooo angry with the fucker. Angry

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2013 10:56

Ohh and have an AMAZING holiday pass - I don't think I said. Smile

fruitpastilles · 08/10/2013 11:02

mm GrinGrinGrin at climbing keyboard warrior, that did make me laugh.

ChasingDaisy · 08/10/2013 11:55

Thanks fruit, will have a look later Thanks

Just had O weighed for the first time since July. He has jumped from 25th to above 50th so at least I know he is eating enough. Now to try and reduce him from 4 to 3 bottles a day. Also met a baby who was born the day before O Smile

Pikz · 08/10/2013 11:55

He's still there.... It's been 3 hours!!!
