Poor you hales Sad

We were only woken once and that was by dd who was burning up again she went back down after calpol and is still asleep now ds woke at 7

itsMYNutella · 24/10/2013 07:33

hales I'm with you. We seem to alternate at the moment between incredibly good nights and then much calmer ones - although 3 wake ups seem to be the minimum Blush
Last night he woe as we were going to bed at 11 ish. We sushed, carried, gave him ibuprofen, rocked, sang, left him to cry for a bit and eventually gave him a bottle at 00:45. Then he went to sleep and stayed asleep until 5 then I fed him. Then he slept until 6:50 I fed him again but even though there was lots of eye rubbing & yawning he wouldn't sleep. So we had to get up.
Yesterday I was ok, I would have liked to stay in bed but I was ok. Today.... Well I'm trying not to think about it.

And it seems like he has another cold Sad it's like the reverse of a menstrual cycle! He has a cold for almost three weeks, spends almost a week without one and then develops a new one Confused

itsMYNutella · 24/10/2013 07:33

Oops I'm so sleep deprived I'm delusional! Incredibly good nights? Noooo we get ok nights. I meant incredibly bad nights!

Stacks · 24/10/2013 07:56

I can't believe they're going to change the clocks on us. Don't they know we have babies with sleep issues???

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 24/10/2013 08:29

Grin Stacks, not fair is it? We're just getting into a routine and now try change the goalposts!

DS had a good night, he slept 8-3:30 when he woke up having a massive coughing fit. DP was out and off like usain bolt! He then returned with DS in his arms and gave him to me so he could sleep in our bed Grin He need never mock me for being overprotective again.

Sorry about the late nights Hales and Nutella. Could you start a sleep diary to identify the nights when they sleep better and exactly how long they slept in and how they napped etc on those days?

Barbeasty · 24/10/2013 08:48

He started to feed shortly after I posted and went off. Don't remember bringing him from his cot to bed, but we both slept ok (with a lie in because I'm working from hometo go to the doctor later).

It's just when he's tired he starts to bite, I can feel the gums parting for teeth towards the back (still....) and he's clearly in pain from teething. So instead of feeding and relaxing he winds himself up. So then he bites more. It is as he starts to delatch, he clamps down.

He'll stop soon enough!

WLmum · 24/10/2013 09:41

Maybe it's the run up to Halloween but I've got a sleep fighting baby now too - she's never really done it before but bed time, in the night and morning nap were (minor) battles.

utopian I remember taking dd2 for a 4am walk in the pram! It didn't work and I got scared!

Barbeasty · 24/10/2013 12:12

I'm a walking medicine cabinet. Steroids, antibiotics, both inhalers. ... Wheeze in both lungs and slight crackle in the one that I didn't have pneumonia in before!

Given that the steroids make you hyper and stop you sleeping, I hope not much goes through the breast milk.... although I suddenly realised that A has only been a pain in the evening since I started to need my blue inhaler, which makes me feel as though I've had too much caffeine. Maybe it's getting through to him.

2blessed · 24/10/2013 13:06

Hi All,

I'm part of the no-sleeping baby club also. I am absolutely exhausted!

Beasty Hope you're feeling better soon.

Well, I'm on day 3 back to work and I'm finding it very hard. Roll on the weekend.

WLmum · 24/10/2013 13:43

Oh beasty you poor thing! I've no idea about whether the inhaler would get through your milk - I think spotty has got some good bf/medicine contacts. Day off work resting is in order I would say.

Barbeasty · 24/10/2013 14:33

Well, I'm working from home today...

I know the inhalers are safe with feeding, but suddenly twigged that every evening he's acting how I feel. But could just as easily be teeth and stuff!

So long as I don't get any of the psychological side effects of the steroids and the antibiotics I don't mind. And the dr seemed confident the steroids would make me feel better quickly. She said if I saw no difference by tomorrow then I should go back. So fingers crossed.

WLmum · 24/10/2013 20:11

Today I have mostly been in love with my baby. (Even if she's been a non-napping monkey chops)!

SpookyTeacakes · 24/10/2013 20:17

I've had a busy, busy day.

Off to Southampton tomorrow to see the consultant for ds.

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 24/10/2013 20:41

Fx you feel better soon Beasty

Good luck for tomorrow Spotty

Sleepydust for tonight Blessed, only 1 more sleep til the weekend

I love the days when you get the huge surge of love WL, makes getting scratched on the eyeball everything worthwhile. They are totally scrummy aren't they?

DP's on a shitty shift (1-10pm) so I'm all alone tonight/tomorrow night. Just catching up on the washing and washing up and then I'm off for a long soak. Just been spewed on after I got a bit overenthusiastic with the rocking to sleep Halloween Grin

utopian99 · 24/10/2013 21:23

Ha, willyou I've been there too! He has just been so sick I had to draft in dh and change all my clothes, all his night things, and the changing mat. And he'd had fish for supper which makes it that bit more grim.

WL your post makes me warm and fuzzy.. Smile despite the aforementioned vom in the nighttime incident.

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 24/10/2013 22:24

Uh fish milk sick Confused

WLmum · 24/10/2013 23:10

utopian I feel your pain on the fish spew - fish pie is Ts current fave. Sick is so gross isn't it.
willyou totally scrummy - I could just eat her up. The next year is such a brilliant age as they communicate and play and become their own little people. Being my last I'm desperately trying to soak it all up and hold onto it.

We've been up planning and starting to prepare for the dds Halloween party next week. DH loves Halloween! Bless him, he'll be working hard on the pumpkins soon.

PurplePidjOrTreatin · 24/10/2013 23:19

Get wwll soon Beasty

Spotty we should do a Southampton meet up :o the new Kiddicare is lurvely and there's going to be a big Next there soon

2blessed · 25/10/2013 00:36

Good lick at the consultants spooky

I know the feeling willyou, sometimes I look at DS and just can't stop smiling.

WLmum · 25/10/2013 06:55

Lovely she may be but she's pushing her luck! 3 wake ups and up for the day at 5.45. Tricky to settle again. We're going backwards again so I'm afraid night weaning must begin again tonight.
Good luck today spotty

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 25/10/2013 10:11

Bad night here too. DS got up for a bottle at 1:30 and then I couldn't settle him properly until 5:30. He woke at 7:45 bit lucky DP's late shift meant I could just dump him on him and go back to bed.

Had the dullest, most frustrating dream about trying to programme the date into electrical equipment. My life is one big thrill ride Smile

itsMYNutella · 25/10/2013 13:05

Willyou DS's good nights are definitely linked to good naps especially a late afternoon nap. Yesterday's post lunch nap was short but I managed to get him to sleep for an hour between 4 & 5pm. Then he slept from bedtime (7ish) until 4am!! Hurrah!

itsMYNutella · 25/10/2013 13:46

Just had a read back. That rush of love has mostly been missing for me SadI think that's also what has been bugging me and making things harder work. I do love DS but in a slightly disconnected way if that makes sense. I miss the days when I used to smile at him and think "wow I made that". Although I am feeling calmer and on the whole more positive.

Anyway...
Utopian fish spew does sound like a kind of sick you don't want. I'm lucky DS is not sickly. But he has wiped snotty trails all over me the last few days Hmm which is nice.

Spooky I hope your consultant appointment goes well.

It's starting to rain. DS is asleep in the buggy - has been for the last hour & 45 mins... I'm near home so I think nap time will end shortly Smile

halestone · 25/10/2013 14:19

We took H to my nans yesterday she commented on how knackered we all looked. So ended up having H over night so we could get a decent sleepGrin however i have picked H up and she has a very snotty noseHmm i'm abit gutted because i'm in work later so won't be able to make sure shes ok.

Nutella i definately agree about day time naps meaning a good nights sleep. I dread the nights where she has napped rubbish.

Spotty good luck with DS's consultants appointment.

Beasty, i hope your feeling better today.

Willyou, 2blessed and WL sorry about rubbish sleeps last night i have a feeling i'll be back in your group tonight.

2blessed hope your 1st week back went well and also that you manage to get some sleep.

OP posts:
WLmum · 25/10/2013 15:58

nutella that sounds really tough. You have done amazingly well so far. I'm sure the rushes of love will come once the pnd has subsided.
hales hope H is ok and that work goes quickly so you can be back with her. Hope you're not back on the rubbish sleep sofa. I'm all set to make it a bit worse before it gets better.
