Wow hales great sleep! T slept til 4 then had a feed but was up and down until settling in my bed about 6.15. Somehow she managed to sleep through the big 2 getting in and then me moving her back to her cot! She finally woke about 7.40 and is just falling asleep on the boob before I go to work. My word its so much easier getting everyone ready for school without her under my feet!
Told dd1 about her bestie moving schools. She was sad but ok. She said she wants to go to that school too to be with her friends (her other bestie moved there at the start if term) but we're 3rd on the list so will be a while yet.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/10/2013 09:59

Wow hales that's amazing! Ds slept 6:40 until 7:30 big sleepy head. Even dd did a good solid 12 hours.

WL your poor dd Sad the admissions for first school has begun in this area do you suggest I look round a few schools? I know our catchment one is a great school (it's a forest school with a brand new under cover pool, small village etc) and if so do I just email them to arrange a viewing or do they do open evenings?

Stacks · 07/10/2013 10:53

Why are babies broken? Why won't they sleep when they're tired?? :(

itsMYNutella · 07/10/2013 11:57

Stacks we had a ridiculous week last week that was a growth spurt/ developmental leap. He seemed fine during the day. A bit of extra whinging in the afternoon and then really fussy right before bed. DS would then sleep soundly until almost midnight and the rest of the night was just, well, stupid!
Fx, touch wood and someone hand me a rabbit foot; but last night he seemed back to normal : slept till 2 ish, fed, slept till 4:30ish fed slept till 6:45. Only difference was he fed longer (about 20 mins) and it was definitely for comfort.

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 07/10/2013 16:00

DS is totally sleep blocking me! We're having a little nap in my bed, he's just woken in hysterics after 20 minutes. He screamed the place down for 5 minutes, then passed back out. Now I'm wide awake. Not cool, DS. Not cool.

Barbeasty · 07/10/2013 16:43

Spotty we phoned and arranged to look around a couple of schools, but check their website, as it probably says and will say if they have a open day. Both had us around within a week of my phoning.

One had 2 year 5s show us around and then the head saw us, the other the business manager showed us around (the head was on holiday because she was meant to have retired but they haven't managed to appoint a new head).

We are pretty much guaranteed a place at our first choice (Catholic school where we're in the top category after looked after baptized Catholics, which has only turned away 1 child in the last 6 years and never gets beyond 60% Catholic). But we're still using all 4 choices, in case something goes wrong. I'd rather be at an ok school nearby that we've chosen than a random one the council chooses.

FriendofDorothy · 07/10/2013 16:47

My nipples really hurt!

I am not sure whether The Little Mister has teeth coming through or whether he is just feeding more than usual but they hurt!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/10/2013 19:13

Ouch fod!

We only get three choices here but I know the three I want to look round. Will use all three and ring them at some point Smile

WLmum · 07/10/2013 19:57

spotty def look around them. If nothing else it gives you a comparison. The school you mentioned sounds lovely though.
Dd1 seems ok atm but next week will be the real test when her pal has actually left.
fod poor nips! Have you still got any lansinoh or similar? Every now and then I get a bit sore, usually if she's human dummyed me and a little bit works wonders. How are you holding up?

itsMYNutella · 07/10/2013 20:10

Fod. I totally agree with WL's advice... I still have plenty of lansinoh (spelling?) that I didn't need Hmm I've found it actually very useful for my nose while I enjoy the horrible cold DS has shared with me!

We had dinner out tonight!! Grin We know a midwife student who volunteered to babysit (she is the loveliest baby sitter you could wish for) when we met her at the hospital and we stayed in touch. She has been round a couple of times to meet DS and today was a real test, we had a dance lesson (for the wedding) at 5 and then we went for dinner at nice restaurant nearby. It was lovely.
But now poor DS keeps waking and whinging. Might get some calpol ready for him. Poor love.

utopian99 · 07/10/2013 20:46

Ooh nutella so impressed with your dance lesson. Before we got engaged dh and I had a few salsa classes which were great fun then work stopped play. Don't do architecture kids.

Dh has had a horrific time getting home from work due to a jumper on the tracks so I fed O, got him ready for bed and now they've had a lovely chilled out play and he's asleep. I genuinely think he waits for daddy now, which is cute!

spotty thanks for the nip tip Grin it is a bit urgh but think you are spot on.

fod so sorry about your kitten, on top of everything. Sending friendly thoughts your way.

beasty poor sick dd but once again great stories!

WL bad luck on your dd and hope she pals up with the new girl? Schools are such a minefield.. They were discussing secondaries on woman's hour today and I'm still none the wiser!

Have been away for ages and only just catching up so apologies for those I miss.

WLmum · 07/10/2013 22:27

nutella lansinoh is also great for cracked heels! Glad you enjoyed your night out. I think I'd quite like proper dance lessons but not sure about DH. We just did the cuddle sway during our first dance.
Oh no utopian do you know where the jumper was? There were lots of police by a bridge right by my house about 6.30 this eve...poor person and their family.

WLmum · 07/10/2013 22:36

Oh god, just looked at the bbc travel news - it was near my house. Poor desperate person. One of Ts middle names is after a friend of dhs who hung himself so it always strikes a chord.

halestone · 08/10/2013 01:56

Tonight i am paying for last nights good sleep! Shes crying and hitting alot!

Today we braved ikea by public transport!Traffic was awful on the way home, I had to stand on the bus Got a few bits that I needed wanted, for an hour and a half. Its normally a 40 min journey. DP sorted dinner and R for bed and I was in my bed before 9. Also coming down with a cold. R woke up 20 mins ago.

hales I go back on 21st Sad. Hope DD has settled back to sleep.

2blessed · 08/10/2013 04:13

Yay to dance lesson and dinner out nutella. DP and I still not had an evening out...

SpottyTeacakes · 08/10/2013 05:39

WL it's so sad isn't it? Lansinoh is also great for dry lips Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 08/10/2013 05:39

I feel awful waking the children to go to work Sad

utopian99 · 08/10/2013 07:10

Ah, sorry to hear it was near you WL. I have such problems imagining what drives someone to that state, I guess I should count myself lucky to not be in such a position. My mother worked for the Samaritans for a bit, she always came home and gave us huge cuddles afterwards but they aren't allowed to discuss calls.

Sorry to put a downer on people's mornings, hope your DC are okay spotty? O slept from 8pm-6.45am! Shock Shock

I still woke up at 1, 3, and 5... Hmm

itsMYNutella · 08/10/2013 07:48

WL you're right. It is very sad.

Utopian not at all jealous of the sleep... Not at all...

DS sort of slept well. I fed him at about 2 but woke at 4, 5 and 6 because he was whinging and I thought he was awake but he was still asleep.
He is not well Sad his cold is awful! When I got him out of bed this morning he fed well but he felt really hot. He was very unhappy. We checked his temp (38.8 I think) and gave him some paracetamol. Then I cuddled him in bed and fed him a bit more. 10 minutes later, I kid you not my happy little hooligan was back.

He is now shouting at me and refusing breakfast. He is a poorly little man... It's going to be a long day!

itsMYNutella · 08/10/2013 08:29

Arrrrgggghhhh I've spent the last half an hour cuddling the monster to get him to sleep. He is a tired, teething, full of cold miserable screaming baby. Anyone want to swap? He should be asleep soon(ish) and then I get a 30 minute break... Yay Confused

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 08/10/2013 08:47

Oh poor baby Nutella, keep him topped up with painkillers and lots of cuddles.

We slept well last night. DS slept 9-11 (woke up with tooth pain), straight back down until 2:30 (also toothache), then through until 7:30. He woke up crying and screaming and went absolutely apeshit when I tried to change his nappy. You could hear him from space!

itsMYNutella · 08/10/2013 09:34

Little bugger only slept for 20 minutes then slept a bit more on the boob and then slept cuddled into my neck Hmm I don't mind but it would have been awesome if he had slept 30-40 minutes on his own.
I've turned the washing machine on for him while I jump in the shower. It's in the bathroom next to the shower so I can keep an eye on him.

WLmum · 08/10/2013 11:17

Oooh just had an email from an ex-colleague asking if I'd like to explore a job share option with one of her reports - er yes! Fx it leads somewhere!

Sorry to hear of screamy teethy babies. T just had a good cry on the way home from the park about being tired. I boobed her at home and she's off. Crazy babies - if you're tired go to sleep!

halestone · 08/10/2013 12:51

After a horrific night we've had a much nicer day today. She keeps trying to walk over to me to kiss meGrin

WL i have my FX that something good comes from hearing from your old Colleague.

2blessed i hope you enjoy the rest of your maternity leave.

Willyou and Nutella, although so far today has been nice with H. I can relate to screaming babies. These past couple of weeks i have learnt that she has got a cracking temper! But i suspected she would with having ginger hair and green eyes and an Irish grandmother.
