YellowWellies · 21/09/2013 21:22

I had 22 hours between waters going and Jonas arriving BTW!

MissMummy1 · 21/09/2013 21:24

So glad you are having a great holiday YW ! I cannot WAIT to meet Betsy next week Grin although after his good behaviour on your visit, Aulay has been an utter bollocks today, boundary testing toddler puppy much?

GT my labour started with many very fucking many hours of really irrational contractions. Anything between 2 mins and 30 mins apart. On reflection, I think I was in pre-labour for about a week before this given my complete inability to walk the length of myself and sporadic contraction-like pains. Oh and my waters broke about an hour before Tilly actually appeared!

BigPigLittlePig · 21/09/2013 21:24

YW I was 35+6 too. Your mws were clearly nicer than mine, as they wouldn't let me off the fecking ctg machine! A shower?! No bloomin' chance. Although was probs because they kept muttering about the "size of the baby" Hmm

ChasingDaisy · 21/09/2013 21:27

GT I was induced so slightly different, but my waters went with a gush, 3 hours after the pessary. My contractions got pretty intense straight away and O was born 7.5 hours later. But I think the pessary made things move faster than they otherwise would have. I was 39+3.

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/09/2013 21:30

GT I know this is absoutley no help to you whatsoever but everyone labours differently and every pregnancy leads to a different labour (ish). Both E and DD1 were born about 40 mins after my waters broke so no time for me to shower. In fact at any point during my labours showering was the last thing on my mind! If I recall the contractions got longer and the gaps shorter as I got nearer to delivering. You seem to be quite anxious about labour, which is a normal feeling. But I think once you actually go into labour you stop stressing and something inside you kicks in and you just get on with it iyswim. As bplp said be guided by your contractions. So exciting Grin.

YellowWellies · 21/09/2013 21:30

BP I seriously think someone should set up a maternity tourism business to Kirkwall - the service was awesome and unpressured in the way that only a hospital with 80 births a year can be, given how shit the weather can be ie too windy for the air ambulance - the staff have to be able to handle anything.

I swear there's a tawny owl like 10 yards away. DH and I sat on moonlit verandah, listening to the beck rushing past and drinking wine. Tis lush.

GTbaby · 21/09/2013 21:46

Thank you ladies. I know it changes with every person n birth.
But I think all this pregnancy I assumed my OC would be bad enough to be induced. So I'd have a mw telling me what's going on.

And now I doubt I'll be induced, unless I hit 41+6 at which point they will induce me. Pls pls pls I can't be preg for another 3weeks!

I don't feel like I experienced birth really last time. Although I'm not disappointed with my experience. Just don't feel like I know what to expect.
Last time I got to about 4cm but nothing I could identify as contractions. Just constant uncomfortable feeling.

I am however considering giving you minute by minute updates. Shock Lol. Part of me thinks its a nice thing to read back. But also think it will be a bit mean. As at some point ill go silent and distract you all with my birth. Lol.

Come on baby. We all want you out.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/09/2013 21:56

gt I had a long latent phase with DCs 2 and 4, irregular contractions, but definitely contractions, for about 3 days until things started to get regular and things stared moving. They were ok, I could chat through them and go for a walk, more like strong period pains. But I knew they were it. All mine came quite quick after waters breaking but then you could turn it round and say my waters tended to break late on, close to delivery. It is scary not knowing, but even if things had gone to plan last time things could still manifest differently this time.

Keepus posted. Xx

chasing twat face. And remember to keep your head on with university boy, you have been so focused lately it's fab. Saturday seems to be your weak point, but remember you work hard caring for O 6 days and nights a week, a day to refresh yourself is important. Xx

MissMummy1 · 21/09/2013 21:57

YY to live labour fred!

slaps broodiness out of self

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/09/2013 22:00

Also, my memory might serve me wrong, but don't they advise against showering/ bathing after waters have broken because once they have broken there is a risk of infection.

Or something like that Hmm

BigPigLittlePig · 21/09/2013 22:01

Yes do it GT! I missed all this the first time around as was too busy reading the funny birth story freds to take away the fear Blush used to drive dh demented by chuckling to myself on the sofa although would have ended up in the wrong group if I'd joined antenatally. Anyway. Please update us with all the gory details! On the subject if joining the fred - ginge I do recall the droopping-the-baby-on-the-head incident. Think I discovered you lot in most active in early Jan...

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/09/2013 22:01

Another Yes vote from the fairy camp, to live birth thread!

ChasingDaisy · 21/09/2013 22:05

Yes to live birth thread!

pig, snap. I would have been on the Dec thread had I joined before O was born.

sophia you are very right in that Saturday is my weak point. When I stop rushing round I find I think too much. I am constantly on the go 6 days a week so it is a bit of a shock to the system. And don't worry, my head is screwed on with uni guy. I would never go there again.

BigPigLittlePig · 21/09/2013 22:12

Ah well the Dec thread wouldn't have been all that bad then chasing Wink I can v much remember gatecrashing and this feeling of total relief that there were other sofa-pinned, sleep-deprived, reflux-discovering mummies. I can also remember having to catch up on 100+ messages each morning from overnight. Quite glad you're not all that chatty now Grin

MissMummy1 · 21/09/2013 22:14

Had I joined after M was born, I would have been camp December Confused

Kirrin · 21/09/2013 22:14

Sorry about your MIL VQ - fingers crossed for her.
Glad J is settled at nursery now.

N has no proper shoes yet as she is only crawling, it she does have some fake leather slipper type things that are quite cute.

How is DP dong now fruit That must have been a worry. is it the pain making his breathing hard?

Blimey sophia - you had a bit of a morning didn't you? Glad the coffee incident ended well.

Well done madame Sorry you didn't finish it, but given the circumstances you did well. Many would not have even tried.

chasing :( You are doing so well. Don't let that fucker bring you down. ((Hugs))

izzy I think MM might be on to something there a it was DP dong bedtime for a few nights that got N sleeping in her cot and then through the night a bit longer. Not sure what the difference was by she wouldn't do it for me.

Glad you're having a good weekend away YW - sounds lovely

GT bear in mind second labours can often be quicker. I had on off contractions with DD1 overnight, proper regular contractions from about noon the next day and she was finally just before mid-night. With N, same on off ones over night, but for stronger by 6ish so I had a quick shower and set of for the hospital 15 minutes away. I only just made it.
And a live birth thread would be great :)

GTbaby · 21/09/2013 22:21

I will delight you with all the details. If nothing else it might put us back in most active for a bit Grin

need to find the funny birth story threads!

Fairy I was told yes to shower no to bath.

Chasing. If I may add. You only had to endure him for 2mins. Then he left. Then he had to leave his son and your beautiful home. You have won. You have control over your life now. Keep thinking... It was only two minutes.

BigPigLittlePig · 21/09/2013 22:31

GT I get all butterflies and excitement when I think of your nearly-arrived new arrival. I shall be sat here whacking F5 every minute so often when you tell us the news Grin. Funny birth thread are frickin hilarious if you can find them!

PurplePidjin · 21/09/2013 23:30

GT if waters go before contractions, you go in to be checked. Well, i was told to. 38+1 and my cx started in the car. He arrived 34 hours later with the help of syntocin(on? Sp! The induction stuff) as there's a risk of infection if you haven't given birth after 24 hours. I had a bath which was lovely but slowed things down Hmm

The December lot are lovely (R's original due date was 2/12 so I've been there from the start) but not as busy as here.

Olbas oil on a muslin tied to the cot works here. When he was tiny i put a drop on the nose of his cuddly dog!

I can't believe i have the same baby. Down without a whimper at 6:07, self-settle at 9:45. What's he plotting Hmm

25 hours of labour here. Contractions were 4-5 min apart for 18 hours, water went when they broke it. I had a back to back labour and O was born 1 hour after they gave me epidural.

We have cruiser shoes and she loves them. They are pink, and soft.

A friend is here, leaving tonight. We had fun last night at the wine festival, I have headache. She is a pro at flirting, I should really learn some lessons.

PurplePidjin · 22/09/2013 07:31

Wake up at 12 for calpol/nappy then awake for the day at 4:45 Sad

Pennie, be careful Thanks

GingerBeerAndTinnedPeaches · 22/09/2013 07:41

Take care pennie

LO woke screaming at midnight. Took about 40 minutes to calm her down. Nightmare or tooth? Or both? Seems fine this morning.

YellowWellies · 22/09/2013 08:06

No shoes here and there won't be til he's walking. I'm from Yorkshire and don't do unnecessary expense! Grin

Pennie listen to HKO advice on TV - super typhoons are Shock Shock Shock Shock .

Sophia I was allowed both shower and birthpool after my waters went? Wonder if it's cos they went naturally?
