Passmethecrisps · 28/09/2013 20:11

Oh!

and the 'tell me something fabulous about your child' thread made me weep.

am hormonal.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/09/2013 20:46

Oh and pass - having got her to sleep I decided not to ring 111. Shall see what she's like tomorrow. I am seriously tempted to sleep on her floor though, as too worried to leave her in a different room overnight.

ChasingDaisy · 28/09/2013 20:55

He said I look amazing. Good start.

misslaughalot · 28/09/2013 21:00

Fantastic start Chasing!

QQ How long does it take for a baby the age of ours to feel the effects of a dose of Calpol? Or does it vary from baby to baby?

BigPigLittlePig · 28/09/2013 21:04

20 minutes?

How long after an item selling on ebay would you say it is acceptable to wait for payment, before relisting and leaving negative feedback?

Kyz · 28/09/2013 21:19

Evening all :)

Poor E, he's gone to bed without a fuss but then spent ages coughing and moaning softly :( bless him. He seems asleep now though fingers crossed. He has seemed a little better today. Quite happy albeit snivelly, except for mealtimes. He just doesn't seem to want to eat or drink very much at all. He ate a reasonable tea and literally hoovered up berries - strawberries/blueberries/raspberries/blackberries. I wonder if he might like some for breakfast too, I haven't seen him so enthusiastic about food since he started feeling poorly.

Glad my summaries come in handy pikz!

Have stocked up on beans, spaghetti hoops, hummus etc for sarnies/toast

Oh oh oh I remembered to record strictly, but I haven't watched it yet.

good stuff re the coat mm

I don't have those bath thingies but they look pretty good adds to chrimble list

Hope it is the end of the ear infection for o lily, bless her. Good luck with your exam too.

eek at the poonami bplp poor F, hope she's better soon! I'd probably ring NHS direct too tomorrow if you're still worried. Hope she has an ok night tonight.

fruit gah! That did make me lol though sorry Blush

gt bless you, I didn't bf/express for very long but got sore anyway, definitely use the lanisoh stuff :) I had to give myself the fragmin injections, I have a blood clotting disorder - I was shown how to do it though and then watched to make sure I was ok - was this not done for you? I just did it in my thigh/upper leg, pinch a chunk, stick in, inject, take out. Was ok and got used to it, didn't even look after a while! Have you tried doing it yourself yet?

pr will take a peek at that thread, it sounds nice. I am so pleased for you re LO, she has come on so well at nursery and i'd be very proud of her too :)

Really hoping you enjoy your holiday pass it sounds lovely. Also, would be very proud of the CM comment too :) Poor P, hope she feels better soon, seems there's a few poorlies knocking about atm :( Good luck with that thesis too!

chasing that must be really nice to hear :) Smudged eyeliner is lovely, obviously! Woohoo, good start definitely! :)

Hope everyone has good nights out :)

det sounds like the dairy test has gone well I think!

I tend to give calpol about 20-30 mins I think

not sure bplp. i've still never sold anything on eBay bought tonnes though

Bet i've bloody missed something

Kirrin · 28/09/2013 21:37

Hope you're doing ok GT Not too tired and sore. He looks absolutely gorgeous :)

It must be lovely hearing such nice things from nursery/CM about your girls PR and pass Gives you a nice warm feeling :)

Enjoy your nights out chasing and det

Poor F BPLP Hope she, and you are ok Thanks

Sounds like E has turned the corner kyz - glad he seems to be getting his appetite back.

Minor miracle here this evening. Both girls in bed asleep by half 7 Shock I have actually done stuff. Boring stuff, but stuff nonetheless! OK, DD1 was sent to bed in disgrace so it wasn't exactly the perfect relaxed bedtime but I'll settle for that in exchange for a bit of an evening!

GTbaby · 28/09/2013 23:43

I'm home. And bf ATM.
Already getting very hard boobs. Any tips would be lovely!

His feeds are getting longer now. Everyone is down stairs to welcome the baby. Ds1 looks so big.

So we have the letter A to name our baby. Fun times. Will let you know when we finally decide.

FH made an appointment with nurse at gp office tomorrow. Think he wants to be shown how to do it. Then he will do it for the rest of the week.

Det- mw said as I have a high BMI. And cos of my SPD. But didn't have them with ds1.
Hoping delaying by one day isn't huge deal. As they didn't give me them while I was in hospital.

Sry I'm not really keeping up with your news. Hope your all well.

YellowWellies · 28/09/2013 23:51

GT hard boobs means your milk has come in - yey Grin . It'll settle down when your body gets used to the amount of milk he needs. Initially boobs make tons of milk and if the breasts aren't fully drained the body will reduce the supply until it suits what he needs. As a tip when feeding make sure he is on one breast for at least half an hour before swapping breasts (at this stage he might only need one breast) as the fatty milk is at the back of the breast (the first milk when they latch on is watery to quench thirst but low calorie) so he needs to get hind milk too to pack on the pounds so don't swap sides too frequently. If he gets green poo that's a sign he needs longer on each side.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 29/09/2013 00:25

Have skimmed to attempt a catch up. I'm still here. J still not sleeping much.

TheDetective · 29/09/2013 01:52

Just got in. Quick post.

No negative signs here . When can I count my chickens?! After 24 hours?! When do I try him with some again?!

Although given O didn't react at first, and it was a build up, I am thinking perhaps the same thing will happen again. I dunno.

So tired. Need bed...

Ps. Sold stuff didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but not as bad as I feared. I did however win 2 coats from next. One grey fluffy padded snowsuit with stars on. And one blue coat I have been coveting for ages and bidding on but always losing as they go higher than I was willing to pay. I got both for 99p each, from the same seller so can save on postage too! Proper chuffed. They will not be however Grin. The snowsuits have been going for about £10-12 and the coats roughly the same. Yay!

Bryzoan · 29/09/2013 03:45

Just been woken by a vomiting g. He has had the runs for well over a week now. Dd was throwing up last Saturday but quickly got better Sunday. I am expecting a rough day today but hoping things will improve after that. Also hoping dh and I don't get it.

Milk coming in is sore gt. That has happened quickly - you must be feeding well :-) Make sure you have a bra that fits well - too tight and you risk blocked ducts. Even though I had previously bf dd I found the early days bf with g really hard. But if you can get through this bit it gets so much easier. You have done so brilliantly. Thanks

Bryzoan · 29/09/2013 03:56

Oh and brilliant news on the dairy det Grin fingers crossed. I did an accidental challenge last weekend with a sip of my mum's coffee. Did not go well. Holding of another 6 months here.

GTbaby · 29/09/2013 04:03

Thank YW and bry.
He is feeding and feeding and feeding. He cries as soon as I put him down. So ATM am just sat here.

Women r bloody brilliant begat their bodies can do. But women who put themselves thro this! Jezz deserve a mountain of chocolate. I already thought a few times about sending out FH to buy formula.

I'm just setting myself a goal. I will feed him for 1week. That's my first goal. Then I will reassess. Just need to get to Thursday.

Bryzoan · 29/09/2013 06:05

Great goal gt. And too right you deserve a mountain of chocolate. In the early days I used to take up a pile of fruit and choc biscuits when I went to bed to get me through the night. It is exhausting and hungry work. It is also a particularly cruel trick of nature that it comes right after birth and late pregnancy. Women are amazing. You are amazing :-) keep going.

Bryzoan · 29/09/2013 06:15

Also the feeding and feeding and feeding is quite normal. But get your mw to watch you feed and check the latch today. It can be difficult to get right to start with and makes a big difference both to feeding efficiently and protecting your nipples. There are some great videos (Inc one if a 2 day old baby) and other info on dr jack newsman's sitewww.breastfeedinginc.ca/content.php?pagename=videos a lactation consultant pointed me there when I was struggling with establishing feeding with dd.

Pikz · 29/09/2013 06:17

Keep going GT you are doing amazingly.

My lovely boy has shared his stinky cold :(

StuntNun · 29/09/2013 06:49

I admire your determination GT. I'm still bfing J at ten months which is longer than i managed with my older two boys and it really is easy at this point, five minutes and he's done. My advice is to put Lanisoh on religiously and use loads after every feed. Even if your LO has a perfect latch it can get a bit sore with the relentless feeding for the first couple of weeks. His feeding now is stimulating your body to produce prolactin receptors that will be used for the duration of breastfeeding to ensure you have an adequate supply. So the more he feeds now, the better your supply will be later on. Remember the basics: tummy to mummy, nose to nipple, and make sure he takes a big mouthful especially in the lower part of his mouth so that your nipple is pointing towards the roof of his mouth. And A is a great letter you'll have loads of lovely names to choose from.

YellowWellies · 29/09/2013 06:56

GT he's feeding and feeding to build up your milk supply. It won't always be like this but he needs to be at the breast now to make milk. I agree with short term goals - think a week, a fortnight, a month and then get thru the 6 week growth spurt (which feels a bit like the first week but ends quickly. It seems trying to be stuck feeding but it's nature's way of making sure you're sat on your arse after labour not running around doing too much. Hope H is loving his new brother.

Det its dose related and builds up but if there's been no fussiness, vomming, colic or dodgy nappies within 12 hours I'd be getting v chuffed. Give it 24 hours to be sure then try again with a slightly larger amount in a few days time. I'm challenging fortnightly with dairy traces and he seems to comfort feed, be difficult to settle, rise early (like now grrr) so I'm thinking still reacts with mild reflux. A vast improvement though and worth persevering.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2013 07:30

Morning.

Det I hope you had a good night annoying your mother . Thing is I don't know what brands I like. I am having an identity crisis! Is because I have downsized my life I suppose. I like to look quite smart, so even if I am casual I like to be smart casual I suppose. I do buy from Next and Marks but my dresses are from all over (I love Hobbs but too expense now am not working) I like Yumi, but wonder if they are now too short for me now I am in my 40s although my legs are my redeeming feature. Confused I don't know who I am!

chasing how was your night. The outfit looked great.

PR please could I have the slow cooked lamb recipe too? Have been brining some pork overnight so we will have slow cooked pork today. Yummmmyy.

bp how is F that sounds rotten?

Spent the evening with the SILs last night. Drank far too much, but obviously not as much as I thought because I feel ok this morning just tired after a late night chatting. Learnt a lot about my DH which made me love him all the more and I wobbled home with my torch for Drunken snuggles. Wink

Sunday is my morning to get up and O decided to waken at 05:30! Bugger.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2013 07:32

The sun rising this morning over the sea is spectacular.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2013 07:41

Oh, and, I get a bit intimidated by the style threads. They are all so stylish.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/09/2013 07:47

Overslept. Will do it this afternoon for tonight. www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/slow_cooked_lamb_26033

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2013 08:44

I might try that next Sun.

I scarily started a thread on Style and ?Beauty but fear no one will respond as they will sense I am not worthy.
